————————————
Vincent’s POV
“I love you too.”
That sounded so surreal. That was something I’m not used to, especially when I heard it from him, Allister.
“You told him what?!” Vanessa shrilled and I just nodded. I know that she heard it right. “This is… OMG! I can’t believe it!” She covered her mouth, trying to contain her giggles.
I told her everything about what happened 2 nights ago. After my confession to him, well I guess I’m gonna tell you about what happened that night.
–
2 nights ago…
When Allister left with that jerk, I knew I was a dead man.
The first few minutes of the dinner were silent. And yes, I called it dinner and not a date, for obvious reasons. It was like I’m eating with my mom. She tried to open up a few topics that were shockingly not about me marrying her. At first I thought she was nice after all because we had a decent conversation. But that was when I was soooo wrong.
“So Vincent, I know you were just trying to avoid me by pretending you’re gay. Come on, I know you are not. And even if you are Allister is…”
“Allister is mine. Got that, missy?” Whatever it is she’s going to say about Allister, I bet it’s no good.
“See, pretentions. I can clearly see it in your eyes. You don’t love that… What’s the right term for them? Oh yeah, fag.” She bluntly said with a devilish grin.
Ugh! Allister and I, well I don’t know what we are. Are we still best friends, when I feel something different for him? Damn! What if he feels differently? Could I bear it? Hell no!
“Look here. I’m only doing this because I want you to stop meddling with my life. And it’s very clear that I don’t like you.” I gritted my teeth as she arrogantly nodded her head.
“Vincent, Vincent, Vincent. Until when do you think you could keep on pretending you’re gay?” She smirked before continuing. “What would happen if your dad finds out? What would you do? Let me rephrase that, what would he do to you?” She asked confidently.
I chuckled humorlessly. “Do you really think I care what my dad says anymore?”
She twirled her hair. “No, but from what I heard from last night, my dad was talking to your dad and your dad made sure that our wedding will push through. And that if you don’t agree to that he’ll have to disinherit you of everything, or something like that. Which I quite agree that he should do.” Her eyes flickered victoriously. “I think you should start caring now, and think twice before making up your mind.”
I can’t believe my dad would go to that extent. I shouldn’t be even surprised that he’d do that. He would disown me if he can, but like I care anymore. I could live happily without them.
“See, it’s those little things that you don’t know about me. I don’t care whatever my pathetic excuse for a father would do. He could rob me of anything and still I wouldn’t care.” Her smirk faded and I smirked this time. “Stop trying to ruin me and Allister, anything that you will do is not gonna work.”
“Is that so?” She said as if she has a hidden ace up her sleeve.
“I’m sure of it.” I said as a lump formed on my throat. Why did this sudden rush of nervousness flowed in to my whole body?
“Well I guess you don’t know that my brother is gay, and by now he had stolen Allister from you.” She said deviously.
What the!? No, that can’t be true!
I started sweating in my seat and suddenly I felt insecure. “Who’s pretending now?” I tried to make a comeback but it was all I got.
“Oh Vinny! I’m not even lying to you. My brother, as straight as he looks, he’s gay as can be. Sure he’s not fabulous enough to be a drag but he’s at least Lance Bass gay.” She snorted as if she didn’t like her brother.
Damn! Why am I getting agitated about this?
Here I go again! It’s that constant battle within myself again. I still hadn’t figured out what to do with these feelings I have with Allister. Do I really love him? Or have myself to think that way? Or maybe this just something that will pass?
I couldn’t even say a word. My head was being filled with malicious thoughts. I shuddered at some, while some infuriated me but all of it made me jealous.
“Vincent.” She called as she snapped me out of my trance. She placed he hand on top of mine again. “You still have me.”
THAT’S IT!
“No!” I barked harshly, I could feel my body burning in anger. “I’m not gonna fall in love with someone as heartless as you are! You can’t always have what you want, brat.” I stood up and walked out on her, not wanting to hear anymore of her stupid arguments
“Charge it on me, Vincent Salvatore.” I told the waiter, before I left the Bistro.
I paced through the streets. I don’t even know where I’m supposed to go, but I know I have to escape her.
Then thoughts of Allister bombarded me again. Why is it that my brain always wanders into thoughts of him? At first it was just Alli and me. We were happy. Holding each other’s hands and walking into a park.
I smiled at the thought. It felt nice thinking about it.
But then in came the brother of Maleficent. He grabbed Allister away from me. It stung painfully as I watch them walk away. In that particular thought, Allister was happy with him. And that just made me sick. My heart clenched and it was harder for me to breathe.
I stopped walking and decided to call him. I tried to relax my breathing as his phone rang. And yet I couldn’t. I was getting more and more enraged by what was happening.I couldn’t let that jerk steal him away from me. I finally figured it out. I love my best friend.
It was ringing long enough for me to worry. But when he answered it, I felt more excited but still jealous that he might be spending his time happily with that douche.
“Sup?”
I don’t know what to say, I don’t even have an excuse for calling him.
“Don’t Sup me! Where are you? I need to talk to you! I’ve had it with that girl! Our date just ended but sure as hell I’m pissed!” I growled unintentionally. I’m not even sure if I’m still pissed at Amanda. Maybe now I’m pissed because her brother was with my best friend.
“I’m in my apartment and…”
“Good, I’m coming over, Bye.” Good he’s there. I cut him because my excitement took over. He’s not with Maxwell anymore. All of a sudden it made me sigh in relief. I know for a fact that he wouldn’t take somebody home, especially a guy.
I placed my phone back in my pocket and hailed a taxi.
And if traffic wasn’t being a bitch I would’ve been there earlier but I’m just glad I arrived when I did.
I rang his doorbell and I waited… I don’t know what to say to him why I’m here but I want to be with him now.
He opened the door and I immediately smelled the sweet aroma of cookies. I smiled at him as he gave me a weirded look.
“You don’t know how happy I am to see you.” I told him and engulfed him into a tight hug. It made my heart melt when he hugged me back.
He then pulled away. “I thought you are pissed?”
“I’m not anymore, since you baked me cookies.” I let myself in, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. I made my way straight to his kitchen. I heard the slam of the door at the same time when I saw him, Maxwell. He was placing the tray of cookies on top of the island counter.
His faced was traced with fear. He knew what was coming.
“WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE?” I boomed.
I don’t care if I cause any form of drama here. It’s now personal!
“Alli! Why is this guy here?” I snapped as he entered the room.
“We are still on our date.” I admitted with a stoic face.
What the fuck? Jealousy struck me even more.
“Date?! You have a boyfriend for crying out loud!” I let the anger in me flow out.
“I should go.” Maxwell said, clearly afraid to get caught in the mess.
“No… Stay.” He told him.
“LEAVE!” I said otherwise.
Was he serious? Why would he let him stay when I’m already here?
“Vince, why don’t you leave instead?” He said sternly.
And there it goes again. That painful sting struck my heart again.
“What? You’d rather have him here than help me out?” I bursted out of rage.
“You’re being unreasonable!” He pointed out.
Me? Unreasonable? He’s the one with a guy when he has a boyfriend!
“I’m not! You have a boyfriend and you’re having a date with the sibling of the demon spawn!” I spat harshly.
He just sighed and walked pass me to Maxwell.
He muttered something to him and It’s like they shared something special already. That filled my anger even more.
I glared at them but he just it ignored and placed the cookies in a container. He wrapped it in his special plastic wrapper and tied a ribbon to seal in. He even attached a card with his contact details on it before handing it to him. He was pissing me off even more.
He whispered something to him and he smiled at him in response before walking off, brushing his shoulders with mine.
We heard the door slam.
“What is wrong with you?” I started snapping out again.
He ignored me and started cleaning up.
“Do you like him?” I asked calmly, seeing as he does like him. So it means he was gay and I never did have a chance or I was a little bit too late. “Do you like him more than me?”
Still he didn’t answer.
“You are being immature Alli! You are not even gay! Why does is matter to you that I forced him to leave?” I spat in desperation for a response.
“I’m not being immature Vince! You are! You feel like you’re my boyfriend but you know for a fact that you are not! I’m just being nice with that guy because he knows I’m gay. And I have to play in his terms. I got to know the guy and he was not as bad as you think. And for once I felt secured and loved.” He bit back as he started to walk out the room.
“So you are telling me that you like him?” I asked, my heart slowly getting broken.
He stopped but didn’t say a word. Okay, if he won’t say anything, then I will. I have nothing to lose anyway.
“Answer me, because I like you Allister! More than just a friend. More than just a best friend. And feels weird enough that I fell in love with a boy, it feels weirder knowing that I feel in love with you, my best friend.” I blurted out everything I wanted to say.
“What are you saying? You are straight!” He commented.
“Maybe I am, but I feel something different with you. You might have known that Alli! I’ve been really unsure of myself the past few days. And maybe if we really tried to have something real, we might just be better off with each other.” I admitted.
“So what am I, an experiment just for you to know if you are into guys? Forget it.” He growled, his back still facing me.
“NO! I mean it! I like you, this must be weird for you that I’m coming out on you, but I know that you like me too.” I told him, and now I felt myself smiling. It was in relief.
“And it’s okay with you?” He asked, turning around to face me.
“Of course it is! So is it a yes? Are we official? No more pretending?” I proudly asked. Suddenly, the feeling of anger got flushed out my system by the surge of happiness coursing through my body.
He groaned before saying the most beautiful thing in the world. “Yes!”
I launched himself at him and hugged him tightly.
“I feel so gay, but I don’t care anymore.” I chuckled.
“I thought you said no matter what happens we’ll still be best friends?” He teased.
“After what happened tonight, I don’t think I can stay that way with you. I can’t have any guy take your attention away from me. Your kisses are exclusively for me and me alone.” I faced him and cupped my face as I spoke those words to him. His face was closer to mine and his eyes were locked on mine.
He nodded and to my surprise, he kissed me first.
I guess he felt the same thing all along.
“I love you.” I whispered.
“I love you too.”
–
Present day…
“I couldn’t believe it at first but it is true. I am now taken.” I proudly told my sister who still kept on giggling.
“You guys didn’t do anything freaky, right?”
“Vanessa!” I groaned and felt blood rushing to my cheeks.
“Just making sure.” She shrugged her shoulders and chuckled.
“I don’t even know if I could go to that level yet. I mean, I’m new to this gay thing.” I admitted, taking a sip of my coffee.
“Don’t tell me that you are just testing yourself if you really liked Alli…” She warned.
“I’m not! I’m just nervous with all this new rules I have to live by.” I told her. “No more girls, no more flings, no more hanging out late at night without asking permission. Stuffs like that.” I added.
“And who gave those rules?” She cocked her brow as she took a sip.
“I just assumed that they already exist, like an invisible contract that binds you into so many rules because you are already in a relationship.” I said, thinking about the new limitations of my freedom. But if Alli is the one restricting me, then it’s fine.
And with all the good that is happening in the world, it just got better. Alli walked into the café we were at. He was glancing to find us and he waved at me when he saw me. He walked towards us and sat on the empty chair beside me.
“Hey there hottie.” He said as he winked at me.
“So there are now pet names? And who are you supposed to be? Cutie? Baby?” Vanessa sat up and raised a brow at us. Alli and I just chuckled as we looked at each other.
“No, I just like to boost his ego.” Alli smirked as he kissed my cheek.
“Yeah, like I need it.” I retorted and placed my arm over his shoulder.
“You guys are so cute! I don’t know why I suddenly became interested about guy on guy action.” She bit her lips and it made both Alli and I shudder.
“Please, it’s new to him. Be gentle Van.” Alli said grinning at Vanessa.
“What do you mean? It’s not new to you?” I asked, puzzled.
“Yup. I’m gay way before this happened.” He admitted. “Is that a problem?” He frowned.
“Why didn’t you tell me before? We could’ve avoided all the drama and confusion.” I told him before snuggling closer to him as I nuzzled against his neck.
He was gay before all of this happened. That’s something I need to explore when we are alone. He needs some explaining to do.
He moaned and pushed me away. “Stop it. For a guy who just turned gay, you are way too expressive.”
“I call it being possessive. I want them to see that you are mine.” I smirked at his flustered face.
We both heard a click of a camera. We both looked at Vanessa who was taking pictures of us.
“What? This is so an Instagram moment.” She defended, typing away captions and pathetic hashtags. Alli and I just laughed at it.
And with that post, my phone buzzed wildly and so did Allister’s.
We both fished our phones out and it was texts from everyone we know.
“Wow, everybody is on Instagram nowadays. They all saw our picture together. Can I see it?” Alli said, amazed with what was happening.
Van flashed the photo to us and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. I was snuggling close to him and both of us have this smile that is so sincere, you can tell that we are in love. He has his eyes closed like he was relieved and at bliss. And I had mine which made me look comfortable with I was doing and it seems that I was about to pounce on him.
I looked at Alli and he was stunned. His face was all red and I couldn’t resist myself from staring at him.
He looked at me as he came back to his senses. “What? It’s so surreal!”
“Better get used to it.” I assured him and kissed him.
“You know, sometimes I feel violated by you kissing me like that. It’s not that I don’t like it but you do it ever so often that it’s kinda too much.” He hesitated but still went on with it.
“Then stop being too adorable.” I told him, smirking.
“Like I can.” He shrugged arrogantly. “But seriously, Vince you are moving way too fast for your own pace.” He said, seriously.
“I’m just moving on instinct.” I told him, honestly.
“Then what if that instinct of yours tells you to find another one?” Vanessa chimed in.
Allister nodded.
“Well, that’s never gonna happen. I’m sure that this is not just my hormones acting up. I know that I’m in love and never did I break my word.” I was feeling good about this. Nothing can’t change what I’m feeling for him.
Then again they might have a point. What if I get tired? But sure as fudge that I’m not gonna hurt him.
“Well, that’s nice to hear. Just make sure you won’t hurt him.” She said, clearly giving unsolicited advices.
I nodded.
“Thanks Van. And I’m sure he won’t or else I’ll break him into two.” He warned as he looked at me devilishly.
“You won’t do that. You love me too much.” I teased and pulled him close to me.
“I could, actually.” He arrogantly said.
I just snorted and smacked my arm.
“Hey Van, did you know that dad is gonna disinherit me if I don’t marry the witch?” I told Van, who was still on her phone.
“Wow, dad is very persistent. How far do you think he is willing to go?” She chuckled, as she put her phone down on the table.
“Your dad is gonna disinherit you? Why didn’t you tell me?” Alli worriedly asked.
“I don’t want to worry you about things like this.” I pressed his shoulder.
“I’m a part of whatever is happening to you, so you should tell me everything.” He bluntly said, slightly irritated.
“Okay, starting today I will. But you should do the same, alright?”
“Okay.” He answered shortly. “From now own, all your coffee shop money is yours. You don’t need to help me with my baking business; I’ll be having this big order that could pay my dues for 3 months.”
“No! I’ll still help you no matter what. Alli, it’s been your dream to have a bakery, and up until now you still don’t want my help. Use that money to expand your business, I’ll take care of your rent.” I reiterated. I don’t know why, but he never wanted my help. He’s just too stubborn.
“It’s been my dream, and I’ll have to get it on my own.” He said flatly.
I just shook my head in response.
“So what are you going to do now?” Van asked.
“I’ll just let him. As if I would marry Amanda.” I said nonchalantly.
“You got a point there, but if it happens that he disinherits you, you can borrow money from me when you need it.” She offered.
“I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks” I replied.
Alli was silent and was busy texting someone on his phone.
I attempted to grab it to see who it was but he quickly dodged my hand.
“Who are you texting?” I asked, slightly jealous that his attention is not on me.
“Why do you want to know?” He said, smiling. He was smiling while texting and he wasn’t smiling at me.
“Because I’m your boyfriend, and I need your attention.” I told as I try to get a hold of his phone. He was pushing me away with his free hand.
“You can have me later. I’m busy right now.” He said, still evading me.
“Busy with what? Come on let me see who are you talking to!” I childishly said.
“It’s a customer! The one I told you that gave me the big order.” He said, still smiling while texting as he kept his phone away from me.
I smell something witchy!
“What’s his name?”
“God! Vince, could you stop being so nosy?” He snapped at me, irritated.
“Fine! Whoever that guy is, he’s probably more important than me.” I pouted and crossed my arms on chest.
He shook his head and continued typing on his phone. His phone rang all of a sudden and he answered it quickly. He gestured that he’ll just talk to his “customer” for a sec and went out of the café.
“Looks like you have competition.” Van teased, chuckling.
“Shut up!” I growled.
“You should loosen up or you’ll start to lose him. The possessive thing is okay in the beginning but for the long run it will be very annoying.” She advised as she opened her book and started reading, leaving me to think.
I watched him talk on the phone and he was smiling. I can’t help but assume that it was Maxwell. He liked that guy. I know he does. And it irritates me very much.
His features changed into what I can recognize as nervousness. I sat up straight and leaned closer to have a good look at his face. He then sighed and hung up. I relaxed myself back on seat before he got back inside.
“So…” I trailed.
“So, what?” He asked, his face was blank.
“So what happened?” I asked.
“Nothing, by the way someone will be joining us in a while. Hope you don’t mind.” He was avoiding the topic.
“Who?” I asked as Van nodded.
I hope it’s not who I think it is.
“It’s my customer, he wanted to meet up to formalize our deal.” He said as he swallowed the lump on his throat. Gah! I know him to well, he was nervous and I feel something bad is gonna happen.
I just nodded and turned away from him as he continued texting.
I just had him, and I’m already losing him? No!
This is just Amanda’s plan to ruin me and Alli. She can’t have the last laugh in this.
–
So after 2 cups of coffee, a slice of cake, and a handful of topics had passed, Allister became more and more uncomfortable in his seat.
“Alli, are you okay?” I eyed him suspiciously.
“Yeah, it’s just this deal, its kinda huge.” His voice croaked. Which can only mean two things, its either he’s nervous or lying.
I shrugged it off and accepted whatever it is.
But the next thing that came in that door is what I was expecting.
As I was about to lay my head on Alli’s shoulder, my eyes fell on the figure of a man, a devious blonde man.
He walked up to us and God knows how I wanted to lunge at him and destroy his pretty boy face.
He dared and waved at Alli. And not so surprisingly, Alli stood up and shook hands with him. They exchanged looks and smiles that I know meant more than what they are.
“Nice to meet you again.” Maxwell grinned at Alli.
And Alli, froze at the sight of his smile.
I pulled him down his seat and he glared at me. I glared back but he just move to look at Maxwell.
“Uhmm. Please sit.” Alli offered as he pointed the seat next to Vanessa. “By the way that’s Vanessa, Vincent’s sister.”
Vanessa, who was in her own bubble with her earphones on and a book in front of her, jumped at her seat and her feet shoot away from her.
“Hi.” She managed to say as she offered her hand and smiled awkwardly.
“Van that’s Maxwell.” Alli said. “He’s Amanda’s brother, you could call him Max.”
”Nice to meet you, I guess.” She hesitated.
“He’s not as evil as her.” He pointed out. “No offense.” He added.
“None taken. She really is evil.” He chuckled.
I tried mocking him like a kid everytime he speaks. And that only got me an elbow to the rib and a pinch I the arm.
“So what are you here for?” I asked rudely.
“Well, I came here to offer Allister to work in my new bakeshop.” He said nonchalantly.
Whoa! Hold it! Alli is willing to accept help from this douchebag, rather than from me! That doesn’t seem right.
“And you are considering it?” I turned to Alli, whose face was red and unsure. “Well?”
“I personally think it’s a good idea. I mean, a business on your own is fine for now, but with the worsening condition of our economy, I think it’s best that you have a partner, in business that is.” Maxwell pressed on his game plan.
“That’s absurd! He already has a partner and that’s me. If he needs help for his business, I’m gonna help him, not you.” I snapped. I then faced Alli. “Please tell me you won’t push through with this.” I practically begged.
Vanessa was just enjoying this and didn’t say a word. Her eyes were just locked on us.
“I don’t know yet.” Allister said. “I mean it’s a nice offer with a very nice pay.”
“Is that all that you really wanted?” I told him, my voice starting to crack. “Because I could do better than that.”
“I’ll top whatever he’s willing to offer.” Maxwell argued. “By just tasting the cookies you gave me, I’m willing to fight for you.” He stated before sending a wink to Alli.
A small curve form on his lips. He was really considering it. What’s his problem? He already has me!!!
“How can you even consider this when I offered you the same thing and you shot it down like a duck during hunting season! Whatever reason you have I don’t think I’ll ever understand.” I bluntly stated.
“This is work Vinny, nothing personal, and could you please relax, Max is just my friend. And if you can’t trust me and support me then it’s not my problem anymore.” His eyes were blank, but his words told me that he was angry and that I should back off.
“He’s right, we’re just gonna be business partners. Allister is a great friend and I trust that he’d do good in my bakery.” He smirked. “And his cookies are as sweet as his lips.” He teased.
That’s it! I’ve had it with this dickhead.
“You are crossing the line, pal. But fine. If he wants to accept the job you are offering him, then I’m through with this. Lip lock all you want, see if I would care.” I growled as I stood up and stomped my way out the café.
I didn’t bother looking at both of them. I left them all there, not caring anymore.
The hustle and bustle of the city was intense. I squeezed into tiny spaces between people just to get to my motorcycle. I revved it up before cutting through the city.
I parked into the park. I needed some air.
I paced through “joggersville” aka the park. Seriously, a lot of people jogs here, even at 4 in the afternoon.
How could he do that? Accept it from some guy he met two nights ago, than from me who was his best friend for ten years and boyfriend for two days! I couldn’t see the logic in it. I may be getting disinherited but I’m willing to spend every last cent in my account for him.
AND TO THE EXTENT HE KISSED HIM! I COULDN”T BELIEVE IT!
I always do this to ease myself up. Walk and walk until I feel any better. And slowly I’m feeling calmer.
He probably has his reasons, but they should be good.
As I walked on the lush green grass, my phone buzzed.
“I’m still gonna take his offer. But I won’t allow you to leave me when I already have you. Let’s just talk later, okay? Please don’t do anything stupid. I love you.
-AlliBunny”
He knows me too much that he knows what can make me smile. It may seem weird and fast but Alli always makes my life easier, whether he may be the cause of it or not.
Fck this! I really love him.
