“Good morning Mr. Wheeler” The receptionist smiles and greets Harris as he steps off the elevator.

“Good morning Jenny” he smiles back and walks away heading to his office. “Teagan?” he looks at the empty desk where his assistant is supposed to be “where’s-” he looks around and finds her running towards him.

“Sorry sorry I stopped to get us coffees and spilled them while I was driving” she runs in frantic and out of breath

“Are you all right?”

She stops in front of him drenched and reeking of coffee “yeah I’m fine- I just probably have whiplash and my lap is on fire but other than that I’m ok”

“No you’re not, take the day off and take care of yourself.”

“Are you sure I mean you got those cases yesterday”

“Don’t worry about that, I’ll see you in the morning”

“Okay umm is there anything you need me to do before I go?”

“Actually yeah” he hands her a big yellow envelope “can you get this to Amy and tell her Scott needs them for court this afternoon”

“Ok can do” she takes them

“All right thanks.”

“No thank you” she smiles then walks away.

Walking into his office Harris shuts the door and sits behind his desk, taking out his phone he thinks about texting Tan but quickly put the phone down to avoid texting him.

“Just do it,” he says to himself picking his phone back up.

“Harris” Tan’s father walks into his office as he presses send

“Yes! Scott” he quickly throws his phone on his desk forgetting to lock the screen

“Did you get the evidence list I asked for?”

“Yes Amy should have it”

“Good. I’m heading down to the police station to take a look at the evidence are you good here?”

“I’m all good” the phone buzzes as they’re talking and Tan’s name pops up, quickly grabbing it before Tan’s dad looks down he says “let me know if I can help with anything else”

“All right” Scott Milton walks out.

Looking at the text Tan replies I never want to make you wait for anything

Tanner in The Center Boyxboy - SARAH STILES.

Smiling at the picture, Harris puts his phone away and gets to work.

As he’s going over files someone knocks on his door “come in” he replies

Amy walks into his office “hi Mr. Wheeler”

“Hello Amy, what can I do for you?”

“When Teagan was leaving this morning she asked me to spend a few minutes at her desk here and there to answer the phone, and I just got off the phone with a woman named Sarah Stiles”

As soon as Amy says the name Harris puts everything down “did she say what she wanted?”

“She said that she wanted to meet with you sometime today about becoming a potential client, she’s opening a business in town and wants to discuss an LLC with you.”

“And did you tell her that I don’t have the time, I have a lot to take care of today”

“No I checked your schedule and saw that you had an opening from noon to three so I put her in there for noon”

“Amy there’s a reason that time is left open I have something to take care of, please call Ms. Stiles back and cancel. Take her phone number and tell her I’ll give her a call when I get a chance.” It’s obvious how tense and uncomfortable just talking about Sarah Stiles makes him.

The last thing Harris needs is to see Sarah Stiles, getting the name out of his mind he goes back to work.

his cell phone starts to ring, Harris puts the papers he was reading down and picks up his phone “hi” Tan’s voice greets him

“Hello” Harris smiles “is it lunch already?”

“No, I just really miss you” Tan replies

“Go back to class I’ll see you soon”

“Whatever you say Mr. Wheeler” the words come out of Tan’s mouth and physically weakens Harris

“Never stop calling me that” the grown man begs

Tan giggles “text me when you get here, bye” he hangs up.

Finally snapping back Harris places his phone down questioning what just happened. He can never understand the hold Tan has over him, just the sound of Tan’s voice can transform him out of his body. Shaking the thought out of his head Harris goes back to work.

Harris finds himself rushing to finish his work because he couldn’t wait to see Tan.

It’s around 11:40 and he starts to shut his folders, Harris figures if he leaves now he’ll make it at exactly 12:30, he wants to be on time. The drive’s long but Tan is worth more than that to Harris.

Getting up he fixes his tie and puts his phone in his pocket, as he’s grabbing his things to leave Harris is distracted by a sound. Listening closely he hears high heels approaching, it’s a distinct walk, one he’ll never forget. “Ma’am please Mr. Wheeler is very busy right now”

“Get out of my way or I will make a scene! And honey you do not want to see me make a scene in this dress” the voice practically shocks Harris off his feet.

Rushing to the door he opens it and stares at her not believing she actually showed up “Sarah” Harris says her name getting her attention away from the receptionist

“In the flesh” she smiles throwing her purse back on her arm

“I’m sorry Mr. Wheeler I tried to stop her”

“It’s ok Jenny thank you.”

She walks away but not before Sarah stops her “ugly trolls like you need a higher desk so no one has to see that every morning.” Jenny gasps and rushes away.

Sarah smirks and Harris barks “Sarah in my office now!”

She walks to him “I thought I gave the orders.”

Shutting his door Harris catches his breath to calm himself down before he turns to her “what are you doing here?” He faces her

Dropping her purse and jacket she starts “how dare you have one of your little tramps turn me away like I’m some kind of cheap slut?”

“Sarah, you’re in my place of work please keep your voice down”

She scoffs “don’t tell me to keep my voice down Harry you know how angry that makes me”

“Fine fine I’m sorry” he changes his tone “this is a bad time, come back Monday and I can help you then”

“Monday?” She asks shocked that he’s turning her away again “stop treating me like someone you don’t know! It’s me, Harry, Sarah!”

“Sarah I know all right! You have to calm down”

She shuts her eyes taking in a deep breath “I’m not here to fight.” She opens her eyes “if you remember I opened my store 2 years ago and now I’m opening the second one here, I need your help.”

Stuck with no other answer Harris says “I’ll help you I promise just not right now”

“Why not now?” Sarah questions and Harris starts to get frustrated still can’t believe this is happening

“Sarah I’m a busy person I have actual clients with actual cases to meet with, you came in at a bad time. stop acting like this and I’ll help you, do you understand me?” He says harshly and loud enough to get Sarah to shut up and listen

She starts to calm down “wow you’ve changed Harry”

“So have you, Sarah”

“Are we really going to stand in front of each other like this and not talk about what happened? I missed you, Harry”

“No don’t do that it’s been four years, we both have had enough time to move on.”

She starts to move towards him and Harris backs up “but I didn’t move on, I can never move on. It was us remember? We were so good”

“Till it got bad, till you ruined us”

“I’m not that person anymore” she defends herself “I’m better Harry”

“And I believe that but I don’t know what you want from me, to forgive you? To forget everything and just take you back?”

“Is it so wrong to want that? We used to be amazing Harry and I want that back” as they’re talking Harris takes a quick glance at his watch and realizes it’s already noon.

“Sarah I’ve got a meeting to get to, I want to help you with whatever you need but I’ll clarify this now so I know that I have. I can’t give you another chance, four years is more than enough time to move on from someone and we’ve had that. If on Monday you come in and we can’t just discuss business then I won’t help you, I have a life here now.”

“Fine” she breathes out then picks up her purse, “you say that now but I know you, I’ll win you over.” She leaves his office

Walking out of the door Harris sees almost everyone in the office staring at him stunned by what they just heard. Ignoring them he shuts the door and walks out to his car.
