“I know I’m late I’m so sorry” Harris picks up as Tan waits in the spot he dropped him off this morning

“It’s ok, if you’re too busy we can have dinner instead”

“No I’m on my way, I want to see you even if it’s for 5 minutes” Tan notices how frantic he sounds

“Are you ok Harry?”

“I’m fine don’t worry about me, I’ll be there in 20 minutes ok?”

“Ok no rushing I need you here in one piece”

“All right” they hang up and Tan continues to wait.

Trying to get Sarah Stiles out of his head Harris thinks about Tan.

Tanner Milton, just the thought of his name makes Harris smile, the way Tan calls him Harry, Harris has not felt like he did last night in a while. The only person that was ever able to throw Harris out of his element like that was Sarah. Sarah was the one, he knew it, but there are people who use their power selfishly, and Sarah was selfish. She knew her hold over Harris, he fell for her and promised himself to do whatever it took to never be with someone like Sarah Stiles again.

Pulling up to the spot he dropped Tan off this morning he spots him standing there. Skinny dark jeans, red jacket, with his backpack on his back Tan stands there with his messy brown hair excited when he spots Harris’s dark sexy car.

Climbing in when the car stops Tan reaches over and kisses Harris as he opens his mouth to speak, letting go of the wheel Harris pulls Tan to him kissing him deeper.

Straddling Harris’s lap inside his car in broad daylight they carelessly make out with each other, both haven’t said a word to each other yet. Harris loves the feel of Tan’s soft face against his, the taste of his lips, and the way Tan just isn’t afraid to kiss him.

“I’m sorry I know I promised” Tan pulls away breathing heavily

“Don’t- don’t you ever apologize for kissing me” Harris pulls Tan’s head back in and kisses him again “I’m so sorry I’m late I got held up at work, and I sent Teagan home, but none of that matters right now”

“Aww I hate it when things are hard for you, take me with you and I’ll fix it.”

Harris chuckles “very funny you have to go back to school.”

Tan finally climbs off his lap and sits in the passenger seat “question” he turns to Harris and they both give each other their undivided attention

“Ask away”

Tan takes Harris’s hand and holds it fiddling with his fingers “how does spending the weekend together sound?”

“It sounds amazing”

“Good” Tan smiles and they reach over lightly kissing each other then Tan continues “I’ll just have to stop home pick up some clothes, and be by your place tonight.”

“Even better idea why don’t you forget about the clothes and I just pick you up after school? You won’t need them”

“Why because I won’t be wearing them?” Tan smirks

And Harris laughs “that but I can take you to buy new ones”

“Oh that’s so amazing of you to offer Harry, but I have a bunch of clothes at home I don’t mind stopping by and picking some up.”

“Ok whatever you want” Harris smiles

Coming closer Tan rests his nose and forehead against Harris’s and their eyes are locked, “careful what you wish for Harry” he whispers before kissing Harris.

As they’re kissing Tan’s phone vibrates in his pocket getting a text from Lin “sorry” he apologizes pulling his lips away. Taking his phone out he quickly scans the text ‘Lunch is over Tan’ “shit I have to go” Tan looks back up at Harris disappointed

“It’s ok I’ll see you tonight, we’ll get dinner”

“I can’t wait” Tan grabs his bag and opens the car door getting out of the car.

Walking back to school Tan’s lost floating on cloud 9 as he thinks about Harris, Harris makes Tan feel mature and important. He’s tall, dark, and so sexy, Tan loves Harris in a suit, how tight they are on his amazing body.

Not looking where he’s going, Tan trips on a basketball and falls over. Suddenly caught by Sven mid fall Tan gasps shocked “I should really stop leaving that thing lying around” he says with a grin as he stands Tan up

“Yeah Sven control your balls” Tan jokes and he laughs

“You ok?”

“Great why?”

“You look a little red”

Probably from intensely making out with a hot lawyer in an expensive car, “I’m just blushing, I literally just tripped over balls for you Sven” Sven always laughs at Tan’s sexual innuendos.

“Hey if you’re gonna tell, can you just tell Principal Taylor that I actually saved you. Unlike the last time this happened, make me sound heroic”

Tan smiles walking away from Sven “you’re lucky I like you Beck, I’d be in her office so fast” he turns the corner leaving Sven.

After school Tan couldn’t run home to pack like he wanted, he still had yearbook meeting. “We have a slight problem” Tan is immediately cornered by the yearbook photographer and one of his closest friends, Erica.

Barely making it through the door “is it my life? Because that problem is more than slight.” Noticing Erica isn’t up for his jokes Tan gets serious “what’s wrong?”

“I’ve been trying to schedule a shoot with Tommy all week, but he keeps blowing me off. This is why I don’t work with jocks they’re too stupid to focus!”

“Calm down Erica I have a solution”

“I’m listening”

“We swap his full page with Sven’s half-page”

“And Sven gets a full page?”

“Win win right?”

“If we started handing out full pages to every guy you liked, this yearbook would fill itself out”

“Ha ha funny but I’m being serious, Sven needs a full page and this will save you, you won’t have to waste your time on Tommy.”

“Except now I have to take pictures of Sven who’s still a jock” Erica continues to complain “and I’ll still have to take pictures of Tommy full page or not!”

“I’ll do it!” Tan shuts her up “I’ll hunt Tommy down and take the pictures don’t worry about that, focus on Sven he gets a full page let the others know.”

Tan tries to push her away to get back to work but she comes right back “but what about Tommy? Who tells him he loses a page?”

“I’ll do that too” Tan sighs “and also I can’t stay for today’s meeting so you’re in charge”

“You’re leaving? This is the-“

“Second time this week I know I’m sorry, it’s… my parents” Tan lies “they’re forcing me home now so I can spend my Friday night watching them fight.”

“Ugh I’m sorry they’re being so shitty” Erica hugs him. “Why don’t I invite the girls over and we have a weekend at my house?”

Panicking Tan quickly comes up with another lie “my mom’s dragging me to something with her tomorrow that I can’t get out off… but next weekend ok?”

“Yeah let’s do next weekend”

“Awesome, you’re gonna do fine here just breathe” Tan gives Erica some last words of encouragement before leaving.

Taking the bus home Tan rushes to his room while his parents are still at work, he takes a bag and starts to pack clothes in it. As he’s packing Tan hears the front door open “TANNER!” His mom calls

“Fuck!” Tan starts to shove the clothes in his bag and quickly shut it before she gets to his room

“Be back Sunday night spending the weekend at Erica’s with Lin and Ronnie” she walks into his room reading the text he sent her while he was on the bus “what is this?” She stops in his room

“It’s a text mom you get those occasionally”

“Why would you think we’d agree to something like this after what you pulled last night?”

“Oh, you noticed I was gone? How long did that take you?” Not caring Tan continues to pack

“Tanner your father and I tried calling you all night but your phone was shut off”

“Sorry it must’ve died”

“Bullshit you’re on that thing all day there’s no way you’d let it die” ignoring her he shoves things in his bag “stop packing you’re not going anywhere!”

“Yes I am, watch me”

“I can’t deal with you, your father’s on his way home he’ll deal with you”

“You called dad?”

“Yes, Tanner I did! When your child goes missing a whole night and wants to disappear a whole weekend you panic and talk to each other about these things!”

“You know exactly where I’m going to be! I sleep over at Erica’s all the time”

“I don’t care, you’re not going” she walks out.

Sitting in his room Tan angrily waits for his father to get home so the yelling can start, calling Harris he holds his phone to his ear “hey”

“Hi, are you on your way already? I’m still at work”

“No actually I might be a little late, something’s come up”

“It’s ok if you can’t come”

“No, of course I can I just have to take care of something and I’ll see you tonight, maybe you can cook dinner for me again”

“We can do that, or we can skip dinner and just go right to desserts”

“Dessert before dinner? Are you trying to spoil my appetite?”

“I’m a lawyer I don’t have to answer that”

Tan chuckles “that made no sense but ok”

“I’ll see you tonight?”

“You can count on it.”

As he hangs up Tan’s dad comes rushing to his room followed by his mother and his smile disappear. “Where were you last night?” His father stands in front of him as he sits on his bed

“Oh hi dad good to see you too, all my limbs? Yeah they are still attached to me thanks for asking”

“Cut the sarcasm Tanner! I don’t know when you thought it was ok to spend the night in the streets without us knowing but that shit ends now!”

“In the streets?” Tan scoffs

“I was in the middle of a very important meeting!” He yells

“Then mom should apologize for disturbing you, shouldn’t she? No one asked her to do that”

“Tanner this isn’t a joke your father and I are being serious”

“If there was a joke happening right about now it’d probably be the 2 of you.”

“Seriously Shiela I cannot deal with him! IT’S YOUR FAULT HE’S LIKE THIS!” Tan’s dad yells at his mom and the fight begins.

“SCREW YOU SCOTT HE’S YOUR SON TOO! WHY DON’T YOU TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY AND STOP TREATING THIS LIKE A FUCKING JOKE!” They fight in the living room as Tan continue to sit on his bed feeling like he’s slowly losing his mind.

It’s 7:30 and Tan needs to get out of there, but how? He could sneak out again, but there’s no way that would work twice, so he waits till they tire themselves out? But that could take all night.

“Fuck it I’m doing it” he quickly sits up and grabs everything. Silently peeking out of his room he hears them in the living room. Tiptoeing down the hall until he gets to his parent’s room, he unlocks the patio door in their room walking out and sliding it shut.

Standing in front of his house Tan shakes his head not believing how easy that actually was, his parents literally are fighting so much that he snuck out twice and they didn’t notice.

That’s sad right?
