Jacob’s POV
I woke up, all excited to go to fair and spending all days there. The halloween trails start at 6PM, and we’re heading there at 12. I have 3 hours to waste so I decided to take getting ready slow and steady.
I went to my closet and grabbed out the outfit I wanted to wear which was a red flannel and black jeans made my way to the shower with my phone.
During the shower, I played. songs and sang along to them. Sang badly to them by the way.
After my shower, I dried myself but left my hair alone to be a floppy mess because I’ll fix it in my room.
As I was fixing my hair, trying to get it up, I was still singing because Little Things was on and I am not going to miss that. But, while I was fixing my hair, my door opened and I basically jumped 10 feet in the air, and a laugh followed.
“Oh my god that was hilarious!” Shawn said gasping for air, and I just let out a breath of relief.
“The amount of hatred I have towards you is a lot, but I’m okay because you weren’t a murderer.” I said, continuing to finish my hair, “I forgot I wasn’t home alone.”
“You’re a good singer Jacob, I could help you start a career!” Shawn explained as he went straight to my bed, looking around because it’s the first time he’s been in there.
“Me? Sing? Oh no. I suck.” I explained, looking at myself in the mirror feeling satisfied with my hair.
“No, I’m serious! It wasn’t that bad! You even have a guitar, we could do duets and stuff.” Shawn said getting up and walking towards the guitar.
“I could barely film a commercial project for school, and you expect me to film myself singing and where a million people could see? Yeah no.” I said sitting on my bed, and he joined me with the guitar tuning it.
“Do you know how to play?” Shawn asked and I started getting nervous.
“I haven’t played in awhile.” I simply answered.
“This is a Gibson one too! Where did you get this.” Shawn asked again, and I just sighed.
“My dad gave it to me.” I said, and he immediately put the guitar down on the floor.
“Oh, I could put this-” Shawn started to speak, but I continued to talk.
“He gave it to me on my birthday. He would always see me watching videos of people playing guitar and he wanted me to have my own, he even taught me.” I said picking up the guitar. “He taught me how to play Hallelujah, it was one of my favorite songs and we would sing it together. After he died, I left it on its case. It reminded me so much of him, that i couldn’t handle playing it. My mom wanted me to play it at his funeral, but I couldn’t bear the feeling of singing the song he taught me alone. He was always there with me, and giving the speech there was hard enough.” I finished explaining, starting to tune the guitar.
“Wow,” Shawn started, “you didn’t have to tell me all that, but thank you.”
“Let’s not talk about me and sadness anymore, we have a fair to go to.” I explained starting to stand, but Shawn pulled me back down and we looked at each other for a minute.
“If you’re feeling down, don’t be afraid to talk to me.” Shawn said and I smiled nodding.
“I will, don’t worry.” I said getting up, with him following. “Now lets go to the fair.”

We entered the fair, and I offered to buy us tickets but Shawn beat me to it.
It was Jenna, Michele, Shawn and I and I’m excited to be back here. Once Shawn returned, he gave tickets to Michele and Jenna, and they walked off to do girl things.
Shawn and I started walking around the fair until I stumbled upon the game where you’re supposed to knock down pins with a ball and it wasn’t the game that got my attention, but the giant fluffy fox toy as a prize and slowly started moving away from Shawn, who was explaining some story that I was not paying attention to.
As I was walking, Shawn caught up with me.
“What are you doing?” Shawn asked as he tried to find what I was so drawn too. I said nothing but stand in front of the game and watching people fail, saddening me.
“Give me tickets, I have to win that fox.” I said determined, holding out my hand so Shawn could pass me tickets. He laughed before handing me a ticket, which I gave to the man. He gave me a ball and a took a deep breath.
“For the fox.” I whispered to myself before taking aim and throwing the ball. Missing terribly and only hitting one pin. I frowned and only got a small prize, which was a small page of 2 small stickers and shamefully walking away. Shawn watched from afar smiling and I held up my so called prize, which I probably could’ve gotten from a store for less than a dollar.
“I’ll take it that you didn’t do well?” Shawn guessed and I nodded, pouting. He grabbed a sticker before placing it on my cheek, which caused me to laugh because of how stupid he is.
“I need a churro to replace my sadness because of the fox.” I explained and Shawn followed me to where the food is being sold.
Once we were there, we found Michele and I’m not sure where Jenna was.
“Jacob! Shawn!” Michele said walking toward us. “Look at this cool shirt I just bought!” She continued as she showed off her shirt saying Pizza is my only friend which looked pretty cool not going to lie.
“I’m gonna go to the bathroom, I’ll meet you back here.” Shawn said and I nodded before he started walking.
“Michele, come with me to buy a churro.” I said, dragging her arm, but I stopped because I needed to pull out to avoid the awkwardness of me pulling out a wallet, but as I was getting out my wallet, someone stumbled over to us.
A boy tripped on his shoelace, sending the soda he was holding flying.
Not towards me, but Michele.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry!” The boy said picking up the cup, looking at the soda filled and sticky mess on Michele’s new shirt.
“It’s fine, it’s fine.” Michele said trying to get to get the shirt from touching her skin.
“I saw those shirts here, I’ll buy you another to make up for it.” He said pulling Michele away, without me having a say in it but, I would’ve forced her to go even if she refused because you don’t get get offered a free shirt these days.
As they walked off, I returned to my main objective of buying a churro to compensate my failure to get a fox which I am still saddened about but I will buy one off amazon because I still want one.
Once I finally returned to where Shawn was going to meet up with me with my churro, I pulled out my phone to see a text message from Shawn.
Shawnie Boy: Jacob! I forgot something in the car! Can you meet me there?
I laughed and quickly responded with: Sure thing, on my way there now.
Once I reached the parking lot, I saw the car but, Shawn was in front of it holding the fox plush that I failed in getting.
“I got you a little something.” Shawn said holding it out for me as I finally reached him, admiring the fox.
“Shawn! You did not have to get this!” I said putting my churro on the car as I grabbed the fluffy toy, hugging it. “Its so fluffy I could die here and not care.”
“Well you can’t because we have a Halloween trail to go to.” Shawn said, grabbing the keys from my hand to unlock the door.
“I love you a lot right now for getting me this.” I said, opening the door to put the fox in.
“You always love me a lot everyday Jacob.” Shawn said laughing and I scoffed.
“Don’t push it Mendes.”

So… how long has it been? Too long I know.
This story is going a bit late, I planned to update on Halloween but that sadly didn’t happen.
School has been pretty tough and the teachers are starting the push stuff out, making everything get a bit more difficult. Plus, finals are coming up in about a month so I have to start getting prepared for them (I probably won’t but still.)
But, also in a month is Christmas, my most FAVORITE holiday ever because I just love how happy and decorated everyone is! Be prepared for a Christmas update probably not on Christmas but you’ll never know!
Remember, your votes and comments are always appreciated and, I’ll see you guys next time!
