The next morning I woke with the driest mouth I have ever had, and despite having brushed my teeth before bed I had a foul taste in my mouth. I groaned as I rolled over to face Dom and my head hurt, there was a bright light coming through the curtains that we forgot to close fully and it was hurting my eyes.
I tried to lift my head off the pillow to see if either he or Lucas were awake yet but I couldn’t keep it up. I pulled the blanket off me and head to the bathroom in pain, I grabbed some Tylenol and water and threw a couple back. Then I walked back in the room to find both Dom and Lucas rolling around groaning, I chuckled slightly but instantly regretted it when my head began to pound. I went back into the bathroom and grabbed more Tylenol and water and took it back out to the pair of them to make them take the pills.
They took them gratefully then I sat back down on the edge of my bed, and chuckled again at the state of us all, knowing full well that the tequila was a bad idea. They looked at me as if I was mad, my headache was already starting to wear off but I was by no means ready to get moving yet.
“What are you laughing at? Ow.” Dom said grabbing his head.
“Just how hung over we are, I guess the tequila wasn’t such a good idea.” I said.
“This is not funny Charlie I feel like someone took a baseball bat to my head.” Lucas complained.
“The Tylenol will kick in soon, then we should get dressed and get some fresh air or we will never be able to move all day and I want to hit the casinos today.” I smiled. “Free drinks in there.”
“Urgh no more drinking.” Dom groaned.
“It’s only the first day you can’t give up all ready, we have Vanity nightclub to hit and then there’s Rehab the beach club pool party. It’s going to be wicked.” I laughed at their faces.
“Ok, ok I am getting up but no drinking until at least dinner time ok?!” Lucas replied.
“Deal.” I smiled at him. “Dom?”
“Sure ok.” He said grabbing my hand and kissing it.
I stood back up and grabbed another fluffy towel and my wash bag then I went to take a shower, I let the water heat up then stepped under the fast flowing shower. I washed my body and my hair then I stepped out and wrapped the towel around my waist, I walked to the sink and brushed my teeth and used the hotel mouthwash to get rid of the horrible taste completely. Once I was finished I made my way back into the room to find Dom reading and Lucas asleep, I plucked some clothes from my case and I walked to the bed.
Dom looked up and watched me drop the towel and pull on my boxers and I smirked as I watched him gulp, he stood up and walked over to me wrapping his arms around me. He pulled me closer to him and kissed me deeply and I could have quite literally gone for another round of yesterday’s antics but I didn’t want to push it with Lucas.
I kissed him one last time then gave him the wash bag, he pulled a face but when I nodded my head towards Lucas he got my point and pulled away. He kissed me one more time then walked into the bathroom and I continued to get dressed pulling on my jeans and shirt.
“You don’t have to keep avoiding him for me you know.” Lucas said groggily.
“You saw that huh?” I said smiling a bit.
“Yes, I am happy at the moment. I am having fun and were nearly done with college and we will be going back to Albuquerque, once were home for good I will be fine ok?” He replied.
“Ok so you’ve just been homesick all this time?” I asked curious.
“Sort of.” He said not elaborating.
“Ok then well I won’t push him away but were here to have fun all of us, so Dom and I can wait ok?” I said.
“Sure, just don’t change anything for me ok.” He replied.
“Ok I won’t.” I nodded my head.
Dom came out of the shower then and Lucas jumped up quickly, grabbed his stuff and ran to the bathroom. Dom looked at him in confusion then turned to me with the same look on his face and I smiled at him to let him know there was nothing wrong. I sat on the edge of the bed and pulled him close to me, I let his towel fall to the floor then I leant forward and kissed the inside of his thighs. Making my way in kisses up his body until I reached his lips then I wrapped my body around his and pulled him close.
“He is ok, he just told me off for pushing you away. He told me it wasn’t necessary for us to tip toe around him.” I supplied.
“Oh ok, well we can just keep it on the down low eh? Try not to make him feel uncomfortable but still make time for us?” He asked.
“Sounds great.” I smiled and kissed him. “Now get dressed before he catches you in all your glory.”
When we were all ready we left the hotel room and went down to the hotels breakfast buffet, I was still suffering a little bit from my hang over so food was exactly what I needed right now. We found a table and waited for the waitress to come over and take our drink orders, I ordered fresh apple juice and a caramel latte. Once she had walked away I jumped up and grabbed a plate, thankfully because this is a tourist area the breakfast included an English breakfast. So I loaded my plate with bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast and beans but I avoided the black pudding because that stuff is just plain wrong.
I went back to the table and began to wolf it down and I was nearly halfway through before our drinks had arrived and before Dom and Lucas had even started. They looked up at me when I had finally finished and watched as I necked back my apple juice, I looked back at them and they burst out laughing at me.
“What?” I asked confused.
“Are you hungry?” Lucas asked laughing still.
“Yeah I am not sure I have seen anyone eat so fast ever.” Dom chipped in.
“Hey I am hung over and hungry leave me alone.” I whinged.
“You’re so going to get indigestion or something.” Lucas replied.
“No I am not, got a gut of steel me.” I chuckled.
I watched as they ate their own food and when they had finished we made our way onto the strip. We had decided to talk a walk for some fresh air before hitting the casino, because we were all slightly rough still and as soon as we got to the casino the drinking would start again. The fresh air was nice, Dom and I walked along hand in hand with Lucas smiling right beside us as we checked out each hotel on the strip. Once we had walked for a few hours we turned around and head back the way we came, I was feeling completely fine now and both of them agreed that it was time to get back on it.
We stopped at an ATM on the way back and I drew out around fifty dollars, the casinos machines didn’t take much money and the drinks were free so Dom and I wouldn’t need much money. Lucas took some more cash out too then we made our way back to our hotel to play on the cheapest slot machines.
We tried to stick together throughout the afternoon as much as possible, but we all kept getting excited and running off to different machines. The drinks came thick and fast and before long we were in the same position as we were the night before, Lucas and I hauling Dom up to the hotel room drunk.
I had a really good time and the next few days followed the same way, we played in the casino and went to the hotel’s own nightclub. I don’t think I have ever drank so much in one go but this is exactly what we needed, time away from campus and Lucas especially seemed to be benefiting. His whole attitude had changed since we had arrived and it seemed genuine and I hope that when we leave, he will stay happy and not fall straight back into his depression.
I really wished he would talk to me about it but I can’t force him, I can only continue what I am doing and hope that he stays the same way. It was our last full day tomorrow and it was the day we have been waiting for all week, the infamous pool party. The pool party was an all-day event starting at midday and finishing after midnight, you had to pay to get in but then all of the drinks were free again.
The three of us left the room and went down early as we wanted to make sure we could get three sunbeds together and we actually got great ones right next to the pool. Dom lay down his towel then forced me to sit down so he could cover my sun kissed skin with factor thirty, I was not impressed but I didn’t want to burn either. Domingo’s darker skin didn’t need as much protection but I forced him to wear thirty anyway because the sun isn’t good for you and I didn’t want anything ruining his perfect caramel skin.
While Dom and I put on cream Lucas dived into the pool and began to swim around before it began to fill up. I sat back and watched him as he moved through, the muscles in his back rippling under the water my friend had a good body from doing his tricks. Lucas had kept up his skating throughout college, he told me that it takes his mind off everything and he feels more relaxed.
When he jumped out and dried off a bit Domingo forced him to put on some cream too and he chuckled as Dom rubbed it into his back. When midday came around the pool just seemed to fill up completely within ten minutes, people of all ages were there to join in the fun and every woman in the vicinity was wearing the tiniest string bikinis available. I mean seriously I am so surprised they weren’t falling out of them, there was barely enough material to cover anything.
The hotel turned on the music and it was blasting out of the speakers next to the pool bar, a lot of the women stood up and began to dance together. The men sat and watched them, beers in hand and sunglasses propped on the ends of their noses. Dom had pulled out his book and I chuckled it was so typical of him, if he couldn’t have a DVD or computer game he would pull out a book. Lucas looked slightly bored so I asked him if he would come back into the water with me and his eyes lit up as he agreed.
“Typical Domingo huh?” I smiled nodding towards my boyfriend.
“Yeah I guess he doesn’t know how to be wild does he?” He laughed out loud.
“Nope! We will let him have an hour though then we will force him to have a drink with us, want to start now?” I asked.
“Bring it on Adams!” He chuckled and we high fived.
We swam towards the bar in the middle of the pool and we sat on one of the stools, it was so cool because it was literally in the centre of the pool. The stools were too so you were sitting there drinking with your legs in the water. I ordered a beer and Lucas followed and we necked them pretty quickly so we ordered another, we sat there for the whole hour that we promised to leave Dom then we climbed out of the pool.
“Alright step away from the book before we hurt you.” Lucas said holding his fingers up like a gun.
“Yeah we don’t want this to go sour so just put it down gently then put your hands on your head sexy.” I laughed drunkenly.
Dom looked up at us smirking, put his marker in his book and set it aside. Then he sat up resting his hands on his head making us both laugh at him, I couldn’t help it I straddled him and kissed him hard. Lucas laughed from behind me but when I didn’t pull apart he started to clear his throat to stop me going any further.
“Drunk already I see?” Dom laughed at us.
“Hey were not drunk we just wanted to make you have some fun too.” I said.
“And what makes you think that I wasn’t having fun?” He responded.
“This is a pool party mate, you can’t sit and read a book?! It’s time to get wasted!” Lucas laughed.
With that he walked away to the bar that was on dry land and sat at a stool, I turned back to Dom and kissed him again grinding my ass into his groin slightly. There was a group of men beside us they were drinking and ogling at the girls in their bikinis and when I kissed Dom I could hear some sly comments coming from them.
I won’t lie it kind of hurt my feelings hearing them mumbling fag and queers at us, Dom and I weren’t used to this attitude towards us as all of our friends and family and even the public in general have always let us be. These guys were burly and it looked like they were body builders or something, Dom was built up from all of the sports he plays but me, well I was toned but that’s it. Dom and I were nowhere near the size of these guys and it was a little intimidating but I wasn’t prepared to change myself for them, if they didn’t like what they saw then they knew where the exits were.
I looked at Domingo and his face was scrunched up in pain too, it was our first time in this kind of situation and I guess he wasn’t prepared for it. I pulled him close to me again and I kissed the tip of his nose and smiled down to him, his face relaxed but I could still see the hurt in his eyes and it was upsetting.
“Please don’t let them get to you baby, were not doing anything wrong ok?” I said.
“I know it’s just that’s the first time I have heard that you know, I guess we have just had it easy so far.” He smiled weakly.
“I guess baby but I am not going to stop kissing you for them, I am not sure I could if I wanted to.” I kissed his nose chuckling.
“Me either.” He laughed pulling me close and kissing me properly.
“Hey fags can you stop, your turning my stomach and putting me off the hotties!” One of the men jeered.
“Nope and if you don’t like it you can always leave, the exits are there and there.” I said pointing at the doors to the hotel.
He looked slightly taken aback at my attitude, I am not sure he was expecting a response but I glared at him daring to continue and he never. I stood up and grabbed Dom’s hand I kissed him once more just for them, then I pulled him towards the bar and Lucas. When we got there I could see Lucas was looking angry and I guessed he had heard the whole thing, he was standing up and Dom touched his arm to calm him down and they both turned and ordered a drink. I looked back to them one more time and the one who had called us was staring at me not in a menacing way but not friendly either, I decided it was probably best just to ignore him from now on.
“You handled that really well Charlie, I was about to come over and jump the prick!” Lucas snarled.
“There was no point he didn’t really do anything, I suppose we were bound to come into contact with at least one homophobe in our lives. I don’t think he will say anything else, he probably doesn’t even agree with what he said he was just showing off to those girls but it kinda back fired because of my baby here!” Dom chuckled.
“Thanks.” I smiled at them. “No matter what his reasons where I am not listening to that and I couldn’t help but react. I will not stop kissing you, I love to kiss you.”
“I love to kiss you too.” He chuckled kissing me.
“Right ok you two, not that I am against your show of affection but I am kind of feeling a bit left out now.” Lucas sniggered putting on a pet lip.
“Well I can always give you a friendly make out session if you want?” I tried not to laugh.
“Urgh no thanks.” He laughed and Dom scowled.
“Hey what’s wrong with my kisses?” I joked. “Dom babe I was joking stop scowling.”
Lucas and I burst out laughing at Dom’s face and after a few moments he laughed with us finally accepting it had been a joke. He wrapped his arms tightly around my waist and I recognised that as a sign that he hadn’t completely got over it yet, which made me just laugh harder.
The rest of the afternoon went quite fast, we went back to our sunbeds and Dom rubbed more cream into my skin and I kissed him again. We received a few more comments from the dickhead sitting next to us but they were under his breath so I chose to ignore him and have fun. We continued to drink and by the end of the night, Lucas and Dom were dancing together by the side of the pool while I watched from the beds.
I looked around me most people were out of the pool by now, either drinking at the bar or dancing like those two. I turned to see the guys next to us were surrounded in empty beer bottles and most of them had half naked girls straddling them while they ate each other’s faces, urgh made me sick the hypocrites. It was clearly ok for them to practically fornicate in front of everyone but it wasn’t ok for me to just kiss my boyfriend!
The man from earlier caught me looking and snarled at me, I pointedly stared at him not backing down and he just growled faggot again and turned away. All mouth, that’s what these people are! Just like the idea of hurting people’s feelings because they have nothing better to do with their own pathetic lives, but if that’s the way he has fun so be it. When Domingo comes back over I am going to deliberately snog his face off see if the arse-wipe likes me now!
I chuckled at myself and put down my beer, I have clearly had a bit too much to drink and I think I am getting a bit too big for my boots. That guy could kill me if he wanted to so maybe I should just not push my luck and continue the way I normally act because like I said I won’t change for anyone.
It was two am before we went back up to the hotel room, all three of us were wasted once again and we had the long drive back to Stanford tomorrow which I was not looking forward too. On the bright side we only had two months until we graduate college and we move back to Albuquerque for good and I was so excited to go home! I couldn’t wait to just start working at the hospital and move in with Dom and start our lives together it was going to be great.
But first I had to pass my exams.
