Alan had been a little distant since Austin told him everything, and the brunette didn’t blame him. He was actually surprised that Alan didn’t storm out and for sure hate him for doing something so awful, but he didn’t, and that surprised the brunette more than anything. It was actually wonderful that Alan was so understanding, and that just added onto the list of why Austin didn’t deserve him.

After Austin had explained everything, they had a very long conversation about their relationship and where it stood. Alan didn’t want to end things, but he needed time to wrap his head around the fact that the guy who he had broken up with once before lied to him. Sure, Alan understood why he did it, and he found it a little sweet, but Austin still lied and the ginger had ever right to be mad, so of course Austin gave him the space he desired.

While Austin waited patiently for Alan to come around again from his time needed apart, the brunette went back to work. He knew he couldn’t blow anymore time off and he was sure everyone was demanding where he was, but not wanting to see Justin seemed to have kept him back. He’d knew he’d have to face some day, and today was that day.

Austin sucked it up and headed inside the building, taking the elevator up to his floor. His hands were shaking slightly, but he kept them tucked in his pants pockets as he made his way towards his office, stopping in his tracks as he saw the familiar cubicle was occupied, but only this time, it wasn’t Justin. It was someone else.

“Mr. Carlile, I was beginning to wonder if you ran off on us,” Suzanne came up, a big smile on her face. Austin was beginning to dislike her after the several incidents involving her and her ability to not keep her damned mouth shut.

“Yeah, I came down with something. Didn’t want to risk the chance of getting anyone else sick, awful stuff,” Austin said, refraining from rolling his eyes. “Anyways, what happened to Justin?”

“Oh, he got moved to a different floor. He said something about not being able to keep up with the work here. Such a shame honestly, I liked him,” Suzanne said.

No one knew about Justin and Austin’s relationship, it wasn’t anyone business, which was a good thing because if anyone found out they were together and they had broken up, everyone would be asking questions and Austin didn’t want that. He was actually happy that Justin got moved to a different floor because he was still pissed about the turn of events that happened between them, but Austin forced himself to not think about it. He had Alan now and that was all that mattered, it was all that would ever matter.

“Yes, such a shame,” Austin muttered. “I’ve got work to catch up on.”

The brunette walked around Suzanne and headed into his office, closing the door before she could have the thought to follow him. Suzanne was annoying, to say the least, but she was a good worker.

Austin situated himself at his desk, letting out a little sigh. He had thousands of emails and stacks of files to go through. Right away Austin knew it was going to be a long day.

。。。

It had been several hours and Austin felt like he was drowning in a sea of paperwork. He had missed quite a lot, but he didn’t regret it. He needed this time away from work, he needed to relax for once- even if he relaxed by drinking until he could no longer see straight and could barely walk- and he felt like he deserved it- well, not the heartbreak that came with it. He could have done without.

It was finally lunch time when Austin had gotten halfway through the stacks of papers and folders that were on his desk. He didn’t have many more to go, but he felt like his head was going to explode and his hand was going to fall off from how many pieces of papers he signed off on. He definitely deserved his lunch break right about now.

Austin sighed softly, grabbing his coat and phone, along with his wallet, before heading out of his office and out of the building. He needed to get out of there before he grew insane, and he didn’t bring anything with him to eat.

The brunette stood outside the work building, staring down at his phone. He wanted to invite Alan to come with him, but he feared that he’d be rejected or that it would be too soon. Of course, he desperately wanted to see Alan, it had been some days, but he wanted to give the ginger his space like requested. But the side that craved him won and soon Austin was sending him a text, asking if he wanted to meet up for lunch.

Austin: I’m on a break if you wanna meet up?

The brunette bit down on his bottom lip. He felt nervous, which was ridiculous. They were still together, Alan had said so, they just weren’t seeing each other right now because of very good reasons to which Austin really tried to respect.

After several minutes that felt like hours, Alan finally responded.

Alan: sure 🙂 where?

Austin texted him the place and address, it being the diner he went to not so long ago and had gotten advise from the nice waitress. Austin owed her, honestly. She knocked a little more sense into him, though it was sense he had already known, she still helped.

Excitement built up inside the brunette as he made he way towards the diner. It wasn’t too far from where he worked, which was a good thing because he couldn’t be gone from work for too long. He still had work to do.

A bell above the door chimed as Austin walked inside. He looked around, seeing a few empty tables near the window. He felt a little nervous as he made his way to a table and sat, waiting.

Questions began to go through the brunettes mind. What if Alan didn’t show up, or what if he wanted to end things because Alan had changed his mind? God, Austin would be such a mess. He wouldn’t be able to go without Alan, without seeing him or holding him again. He was the life line the brunette held onto and he needed him more than anything.

“Well, it’s nice to see you again,” Linda, the waitress who Austin had talked to the last time he was there, came up and said. She had an almost cocky smile, but still friendly. Austin liked her, to be honest, she seemed very nice to be around.

“Have you fixed things up with your lover boy or are you still chasing your tail?” She asked, Austin rolled his eyes and bit back a smile. Just thinking about Alan made him feel all mushy inside. He was like a schoolgirl and the feelings from when they first ever met began to arise inside him.

“Things are fine now, I made the decision,” Austin said, and Linda smiled.

“That’s good, now what can I get for ya?” She asked, pulling out a pad and a pen.

“Oh, well, um, I’m waiting for someone,” Austin told her.

“Is it your lover boy?” Linda asked, grinning.

“Yes, it’s my boyfriend,” the brunette said, rolling his eyes again, but he was proud to say that.

The bell above the door rang again and Austin tore his eyes away from Linda, looking over to see that it was Alan. The brunette felt his heart leap in his chest as he smiled brightly and waved Alan over.

“Sorry, Minchi didn’t want to get up and let me get dressed,” Alan said, sliding into the seat across from the brunette, his cheeks slightly pink and a small smile on his lips.

“He’s such a cutie,” Linda said, grinning widely. Austin shot her a small glare before quickly agreeing that yes, Alan was cute. “Anyways, what can I get ya?”

。。。

“Thank you for lunch, Aust,” Alan said, smiling as he and the brunette stepped outside the diner. The ginger quickly leaned up, pressing a kiss to Austin’s cheek. It may not have felt like it to Austin, but Alan really did miss him. The few days that Alan had spent away from him, just trying to gather his thoughts about the situation between them, he had a big longing from the older male.

“It’s not a problem, baby,” Austin said, the words smoothly falling from his lips. Things felt so normal again- not that they weren’t before, but Austin had to hide in public with Alan, and not he didn’t have to. He could push the ginger up against a wall and kiss him without a single worry in the world.

“I should probably get back to work, I’ve got a lot of paperwork to finish up,” Austin said, stuffing his hands in his coat pockets. It was a bit chilly outside, and he couldn’t help but notice how Alan was dressed in a long sleeved sweatshirt- which looked like it belonged to the brunette from how long it was and how it hung off the gingers frame- and a fitting pair of jeans. He looked good, which was something that never failed to make Austin drool over or not being able to tear his eyes away.

“Okay, do you… do you maybe wanna stop by tonight and we can watch some movies, you know, like we did before?” Alan asked, sounding small and almost childlike; it made Austin’s heart beat like crazy and a huge smile appear on his face.

“Yeah, sure, that sounds good,” he said.

Alan smiled widely, stepping closer again, and surprising both of them by pressing a kiss to the brunettes lips. It felt warm and nice and Austin found himself kissing back- he’d be stupid not to.

Austin placed his hands on Alan’s hips, pulling him closer. He missed this, even if it hadn’t been that long. He missed the way Alan’s arms wrapped around his neck, and how he messed with the hairs on the back of the brunettes neck, and how Alan would make cute little noises. All of it, Austin missed it and he finally- finally– got it all back. Alan was his and he’d be a complete idiot to let him go now.

“O-Okay, I really need to get back to work,” Austin mumbled as he pulled away. He had to hold himself back from leaning down and kissing the ginger again or to call into work and take the rest of the day off just so he could be with Alan, because he really needed to finish his work before he was drowning in it.

“Okay,” Alan giggled, pulling away and smiling. God, he was gorgeous.

“I love you,” Austin said, making his eyes widen slightly. He didn’t know if that was okay or not. He did love Alan, always had, but he didn’t want to run the ginger off.

Alan bit his bottom lip, biting back a smile. “I love you, too,” he said, which made it a thousand times harder for Austin. He wanted to spend the rest of the as afternoon with Alan, but he couldn’t.

With a lot of will power, Austin missed the ginger goodbye quickly, muttering another ‘I love you’ before heading down the street back to work.

。。。

Not the best but it’ll do just fine but the next chapter is the final 🙂
