Sammy

Popping another Twix bite into his mouth, Sammy continued to sing along to the Maroon 5 song that was currently playing from his phone. Just as he was about to walk down the stairs his earphones were suddenly being ripped from his ears. Turning around he saw Sasha glaring down at him, it was like he was looking into the mirror when he was pissed. Creepy. “Give those back,” Sammy said while reaching for the blue earphones, only to watch them being held over his head, making his phone drop to the ground. “Come on Sasha.”

“Come on Sasha,” Sasha mimicked before laughing. Rolling his eyes Sammy picked his phone up, frowning when he saw the large crack that was now on the front screen. “Where are you going, your one and only friend’s house?”

“No. I’m going out.”

“Ah vague are we?” Before he could blink he was suddenly in a headlock, with Sasha rubbing his large knuckles on his head.

“Stop!” Sammy angrily said before throwing his brother’s larger body off of his. Grabbing the earphones out of his hands, Sammy stomped down the stairs before running out to his truck.

While backing out he saw the angry eyes of Sasha staring him down. Sighing he put the old truck into drive and made his way towards Evan’s house, not understanding why his brother hated him so much. He never did anything to him, mostly because he was so afraid of him.

Once he pulled up in front of Evan’s house, Sammy turned his truck off before resting his head on his steering wheel. Glancing down at his hands, he couldn’t miss the way his hands were shaking. Taking a deep breath he walked up to the front door and slowly knocked.

When the door opened he tried to stop the way his heart sped up, feeling bad that he was hard core crushing on someone else’s boyfriend. It wasn’t right, but why was it so hard to stop looking at Evan and get instant butterflies in his stomach?

Looking up into those dark eyes, Sammy knew he had to stop his crush on the football player; it just wasn’t right since he was taken. Giving a small smile he hid his shaking hands into his pockets while saying, “Hi.”

“Hey, you hungry? I was about to order some pizza,” Evan said while giving him a big smile while opening his front door.

“Sure,” he quietly said while walking into the house. He watched as Evan took an iPhone out of his pocket before dialing a number. As he was ordering pizza Sammy looked around the large room before noticing a small bruise on his arm. Frowning he thought of Sasha, and didn’t realize why he had to be so mean.

“Oh hello.” Looking up Sammy saw an older brunette woman walking into the room, a smile on her pretty face. “You must be Evan’s tutor.”

“I am, I’m Sammy. It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, I’m Evan’s mother.”

His smile faded a bit, images of his own mother coming into his mind. He would give anything to hug her one last time, to see her smile and laugh. “Have a nice night boys. Evan, your father and I are going over to the Robinson’s tonight. We’ll be back later.”

He watched as she gave him a gentle smile before kissing Evan on the cheek before disappearing through the front door. Turning around Sammy watched as Evan started walking up to him, a smile on his gorgeous face. “Ready to talk about math?”

Nodding Sammy started following him into the dining room before sitting down. Opening the Stats book in front of him he yawned while they started their session. Ten minutes into talking the doorbell suddenly rang, making Evan stand up and walk to the front door. When he came back he put a large pizza box onto the table, the smell radiating into Sammy’s nose, making his mouth water.

“Thanks again for the pizza,” he said while grabbing a piece.

“You’re welcome.”

When the pizza was finished Sammy started flipping through the Stats book again before Evan cleared his throat and said, “You have a little,” he said while pointing towards his chin.

Before he had a chance to move he watched with wide eyes as Evan moved closer to him before slowly putting his hand onto his chin. Breathing heavily Sammy watched as Evan’s fingers were slowly touching his chin, his face erupting into a blush.

His fingers started shaking as he continued to look into those dark eyes. “You had some cheese on your chin,” Evan whispered while smiling at him.

Just when he thought he was going to pass out a knock was coming from the front door before a loud voice said, “Hey babe.”

Feeling his heart sink Sammy nervously bit his lip while jumping up, as Maci’s loud voice was coming closer. As Evan started walking away he nervously looked around the room for a hiding place, before hiding behind the large armoire in the corner.

When Maci’s voice was in the dining room Sammy slowly looked around the armoire to see the blonde basically feeling Evan up. “Pizza? Are you eating by yourself? How pathetic.”

“I was eating while studying Stats.”

“Again, pathetic,” Maci said while rolling her eyes and sitting down onto the table. “Why is there a weird truck parked in front of your house?”

“It’s our neighbors,” Evan quickly said.

“Weird. It looked like it was that freak Sammy’s. But I know you would never hang out with a loser like him.”

Frowning Sammy looked down at his hands while thinking about what Maci just said. It shouldn’t have surprised him, compared to the other two people in the room he was a nobody. He’ll always be a nobody.

“That’s not nice Maci.”

“What?”

“It’s not nice to just call someone a loser.”

“Oh whatever,” she said while rolling her eyes. “Why are you so emotional tonight?”

Sammy slunk back behind the armoire, closing his eyes while leaning his head against the wall behind him. His eyes reopened when he heard Evan’s deep voice say, “Look Maci I’m pretty busy, I’ll just see you tomorrow okay?”

“Are you seriously choosing homework over me?” Maci asked while her voice rose as high as a toddler.

“You know I’m not doing great in Stats. I need to keep my grade up in order to stay on the team.”

“Whatever,” Maci said as Sammy slowly peeked around the corner of the armoire once again. “You will call me later won’t you?”

Sammy watched as Evan gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek while saying, “Of course babe. You know I love you and only you.”

Feeling tears in his eyes, Sammy sank back behind the armoire, feeling absolutely pathetic. Why did he ever think he had a chance with someone like Evan? He was no one important, no one knew his name. If they saw him they saw Sasha’s brother, or that one weird girl’s friend.

Glancing down at the bruise on his arm, he gently ran his thumb over the purple and blue skin. Why did he ever agree to be his tutor? Nothing is ever going to happen, nothing good ever seems to happen to him.

When a shadow was standing over him he looked up to see Evan staring down at while. “Sorry about that, she tends to come over whenever she wants. Hey, what happened to your arm?”

Looking away from those brown eyes, Sammy wiped his eyes before coming out from behind the armoire. “Sammy, is everything okay?” Evan asked while Sammy started to gather his things together.

“I have to go,” he whispered while starting to walk over to the front door. When he opened the door he suddenly stopped when the door shut in front of him. Sighing he wiped his eyes once again while his hands started shaking.

“What happened?”

“Nothing. I just need to go home.”

“Sammy,” Evan quietly said while placing his hand onto the bruise on his arm.

“I have to go,” Sammy firmly said once again while swinging the door open and running out to his truck.

He was barely able to see while he started to drive away, since the tears were violently streaming down his face. He was an idiot. Why did he think something would ever happen between the two of them?

Pulling into his driveway he wiped his eyes while slowly walking into his front door. Running up his stairs he flopped down onto his bed before whipping his phone out. Dialing the number he knew by heart he anxiously waited for her to pick up before he started crying again. “Sexy pants, what’s wrong?” Lea’s voice said into his ear.

After explaining his situation to her, he was finally able to take a deep breath. “You’re not stupid never think that way Sammy. It’s Evan’s fault, not yours. He doesn’t know what he is missing; he’s too busy putting his tongue down that blonde bimbo’s throat. Don’t worry I’ll set you up.”

Wiping his nose he scrunched his eyebrows together while asking, “What do you mean set me up?”

“I have a few things up my sleeve. Don’t you worry your pretty little head.”

Sammy wasn’t sure if he should be happy or nervous about what his best friend was thinking. Snuggling up into the blanket beneath him he yawned while talking to Lea the rest of the night, getting tonight out of his mind.

Evan

What did I do? Evan thought while staring down at the quiz he was supposed to be doing. Ever since Sammy had quickly left his house, he was confused. He had no idea what he did to make Sammy leave so quickly. He was also confused as to how a bruise had ended up onto his arm.

“Shit,” he muttered when the bell suddenly rang. Getting up he threw his blank quiz onto his History teacher’s desk, ignoring her asking him to stay after class.

Walking out into the hallway he made his way over to his locker, stopping in his tracks when he saw Lea. She was Sammy’s best friend right? Maybe she knew what was wrong. Walking up to her he cleared his throat before saying, “Lea?”

She looked up at him, shock clearly written over her face. “What?”

“I was wondering if you knew what was wrong with Sammy?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. He seems to be fine to me,” she said while looking over to her right.

Glancing over he saw a tall guy standing next to Sammy. The guy had curly black hair and looked like a biker. Evan felt his heart beat faster when he watched the tall guy place a hand onto the small of Sammy’s back. “Wh… who is that?”

“You don’t know?” Lea asked while putting a piece of gum into her mouth. “That’s Xander, he’s new here. Gorgeous right?”

“Is Sammy dating him?”

“Do you care?” She asked while raising her eyebrows.

“No.”

He watched her smile before saying, “Keep telling yourself that,” before walking over to Sammy.

Standing in the middle of the hallway for a few more seconds, Evan finally moved when the bell rang. However he didn’t go to class, he continued down the hallway and walked out into the parking lot. For some reason he wasn’t able to think straight after seeing this so called Xander touching Sammy. It shouldn’t matter because it wasn’t like he liked him. No, that wasn’t it… right?
