Chapter 8
Eli’s pov
I rolled around my bed restlessly. Thoughts of guilt and regret racing through my head and wrenching my heart.
It was sunday morning and I still felt bad about acting the way I did around carter on friday night.
But honestly, what choice did I have?
I explained to Kayla the situation so she understood but she even seemed disappointed in me.
But I couldn’t have acted like I cared about him? What if someone heard and got the wrong idea.
But I don’t care about him, right?
Ugh. I guess worrying about this isn’t gonna do any good, plus, I still have homework so I might as well finish that.
I got up and walked to my desk. I attempted to do some homework but I couldn’t concentrate, I was still stressed out from this.
This boy was really be a problem.
I sighed and stood up from my desk. I walked over to my phone and called Kayla.
When her voice finally came over from the other side of the phone I sighed with relief.
“Hey Eli, what’s up?” She asked, small amount of worry in her voice.
“Hey Kayla, Do you wanna, like, hang out or whatever?” I asked and I heard her laugh.
“Yeah sure, want me to come over?” She asked and I nodded before I realized she couldn’t see me.
“Yeah.” I replied simply and she hung up.
I walked downstairs, to watch some t.v before she came over but my dad was on the couch.
I awkwardly shoffled over to the couch and sat down.
“Dad?” I asked. He grunted in response, Eyes glued to the t.v
“Can I change the Chanel?” I asked looking at the t.v.
“What? I’m watching the game, don’t you want to watch?” He scoffed and I rolled my eyes, forcing myself to watch the football game that played on the tv.
When Kayla finally got there I physically let out a breath of relief, luckily my dad didn’t notice.
“K dad, Me and Kayla are gonna be upstairs” I said as Kayla walked in the front door.
He grunted in response. I Pulled Kayla upstairs, ignoring her confused looks.
“What was that about?” She questioned as we sat in my room.
“Nothing.” I sighed and plopped down on my bed. “So what happened last night with wes?” I asked.
She blushed and looked down.
“I’m your best friend, you can trust me.” I assured her.
“Well, we’ve kinda had a thing for a while.” She started, A blush creeping onto her pale cheeks.
“And he asked me out on a date.” She said grinning.
“Wait, for a while?!” I exclaimed, sitting up and she laughed. “And I’m just hearing about this now?” I yelled, laughing and threw a pillow at her.
She stuck her tongue at me and I rolled my eyes.
“Wait… How did you know his name was Wes?” She asked. I stiffened, remembering that Carter told me, and how I acted Friday night.
“Carter and Wes are friends.” I said shrugging, acting cool.
“Oh… Carter? Have you talked to him since the party?” She asked, her voice sounding soft.
“I haven’t exactly had the opportunity.” I replied sarcastically, which she rolled her eyes.
“Will you talk to him at school?” She asked, her voice sounding soft and coutious.
I thought about the question.
“No.”
Chapter 8
Carters pov
I slowly moved closer and aimed my gun. I found my target, Wes, and shot, watching his body cripple to the ground.
“AND I WON!!” I yelled in excitement doing a victory dance in front of Wes and he stuck his tongue at me.
We were playing call of duty at my house and I just won for the first time. Hey, what can I say? He was just good at it.
“What did you win?” My dad asked laughing as him and my mom saw my dance from the kitchen, and walked in.
“I just beat the champion at his own game.” I said puffing out my chest.
“I let him win!” Wes whined and my parents laughed.
“Well anyways,” my mom interrupted, “Carter, your cousin is getting married next weekend so we won’t be home at all next Saturday and Sunday.” My mom said.
I nodded. “Ok, have fun at the wedding.” I said as they started to walk back to the kitchen.
“Your going to!” My mom said.
“What?! How will I spend an entire weekend without this loser?” Wes Hollered and clung onto me and we both fake cried.
“I’m not changing my mind, your going.” My mom said laughing, we continued to fake cry and give puppy eyes to my dad.
“Oh please father of mine! Please don’t let that horrible lady take me.” I begged and me and Wes both got down on our knees begging dramatically.
“Well… Since you put it like tha-” my dad said giving in but my mom cut him off.
“That’s enough!” She said but was laughing. “Your going to the wedding with us, Wes can come to if he likes.” My mom said and we both jumped up and cheered.
“You guys are a bunch of idiots.” My mom said laughing.
