Chapter 9
Eli’s pov

I walked slowly down the hall on Monday morning, scanning the crowds of high school students with my eyes.

I don’t know what I was doing, I was looking for Carter, but why? Was I gonna apologize? No, somebody could see me talking to him.

Ughs why am I so cautious about this? Literly nothing is going on. Why am I WAY to worried about how people will think?

I just don’t want anyone to find out about me being gay.

I’m kinda an ass.

I walked further down the hall, still not seeing Carter.

I started to get anxious.

I walked farther through the crowds of high schoolers.

No Carter.

And When the bell rang there was still no Carter.

I feel like such a jerk.

Carters pov

I walked into class and took my seat. Staring at Eli’s empty seat, maybe he wouldn’t show up today.

Maybe he would say sorry about the other night.

Maybe not.

I looked down and when I glanced back up Eli was walking in.

I stared at him as he walked to his seat and made jokes with other students, and I prayed he made eye contact.

He did.

He looked at me as he sat down and my entire body froze.

He kept eye contact for a few more minutes and then broke away.

Well, what did that mean?

As class started I kept looking across the room at him, he never looked at me.

When class left I tried to catch up with him but he was talking to some jocks.

Great.

The Rest of the day went by, Eli-free.

My sneakers scraped the pavement as I walked out of school, Wes by my side blabbing about Kayla, and surprisingly someone tapped on my shoulder.

I turned around and saw Eli.

Was he gonna apologize?

He scratched the back of his neck and I stood there shocked. Wes cleared his throat uncomfortably.

“Umm, I just wanted to say sorry about the other day.” He muttered and I nodded.

“Yeah, sure it’s fine.” I said shrugging and smiling.

He walked away awkwardly but quickly Kayla fallowed and ran up to me and Wes before we could walk away. She smiled at Wes and handed me a piece of paper.

She gave me a knowing smile and turned to go after Eli.

The paper had a phone number on it and two scribbled words.

Good luck.
