<<Long story alert!>>
A Suga x Jin story…
“Hyung!” RM called out from behind before hooking his arms around Jin, “wanna hang out after work today?”
“Nah, I have plans.”
“What plans?”
“Errr…”
“Don’t tell me…you’re going to his house again?”
“Ne.”
“You have been going his house ever since he left, tidying and packing his house like a maid.”
“Shut up Namjoon, you don’t understand.”
“Yea, I don’t understand. He’s gone for two years and you’re still hoping that he would return? Wake up hyung, Yoongi is not gonna come back anymore.”
And that was the end of their conversation. Yes, Namjoon was a nice co-worker. He is smart, helpful but sometimes, he’s just too insensitive.
Punctually ending his work at 6pm, Jin went down to fetch his car before driving off to that usual place.
Pressing the password on the door like it was his house, he took off his shoes and entered the two-storey house. The place was neat, of course, he came here to clean every single day. But still, as usual, he would feel that dust is accumulated during his absence and begins to spring clean the house again.
Finally settling the house, he went into the kitchen and transform that dead fish in the refrigerator into an aromatic dish. He laid the dishes out nicely, and placed two sets of utensils, one in front of him, one opposite him.
Dinner time flew pass in silence. And Jin was satisfied. Clearing the bowl of rice opposite him that was never touched, he smiled and carried everything to the kitchen. The sun had long set and it was darkness outside. Jin switched on a small lamp in the living room, before opening a bottle of wine.
Walking to the music player, he turned it on. There’s only one song – Let Me Know – on repeat.
That was Jin’s routine every single day. Ever since Yoongi left, wrong, to Jin, Yoongi did not left at all, at least in his heart. Getting off from work and proceeding straight to Yoongi’s house, staying there until 10 before going home. He had been doing this even when Yoongi was still around, at least back then, the house would not be so quiet.
Yoongi wasn’t the type that talk a lot, but Jin can miraculously make him talk. Despite seeing each other every single day, they still had tons of stuff to talk about. Yoongi was the heir of the company and Jin was just a clerk; but it doesn’t matter to them. Their relationship was a secret, but it doesn’t matter to them. Meeting Yoongi seemed that the best thing that ever happened to Jin, until one day…
Yoongi disappeared.
Some said that he went to work overseas, some said he went to travel around the world. Some said he migrated to other countries, while some even said he had cancer and had to receive treatment overseas. Nobody knows what actually happened, including Jin.
Unlike others who long forgot about Yoongi’s presence, Jin still had a tiny hope inside him, hoping that Yoongi would return. One year passed, and now two years, his hope was diminishing but he refused to admit it.
It was a typical day for Jin. As usual, he would buy two cups of americano, for him and Namjoon, and reach his workplace at 9 am sharp. He did not style his hair today, probably too tired rushing his work till midnight yesterday. He thought it would be a normal day like every other, until he saw Namjoon running frantically towards him…
“Hyung! Hyung!” Namjoon shouted from far, ignoring the fact that other people were already inside the office working.
“Shhhh,” Jin warned.
Namjoon stopped in time in front of his hyung. He paused to catch his breath before explaining, “he’s…he’s…back.”
“Who?” Jin opened his eyes wide and raised his eyebrows.
“Min…Yoon…gi.”
“Ne?”
“That’s right! The guy who disappeared for two years. Min Yoongi!”
Jin stood froze there. He could not believe his ears. He had longed for this day to arrival but then…why isn’t he feeling happy?? His mind literally went blank. What was he supposed to do now? With the help of Namjoon, he went back to his table to cool down and return back from his thoughts.
Soon, a secretary ran to his department and whispered something to his boss. Upon that, everyone were told to stand up and welcome a special guest. Despite feeling weak, Jin had to listen to the order. His mind was already not in the company, but floated to somewhere over the rainbow.
People started clapping, and he followed suit. A man started talking, he did not bother to listen. He just occasionally nod his head to act like he was listening and kept his head down.
“So…let’s welcome Mr Min Yoongi back!” the man said.
And this time, Jin caught his words, specifically ‘Min Yoongi’. He looked up in shock. Indeed, it was him, Yoongi, the one he waited for two years.
Yoongi did not change, at all. He wore a nice fitting suit with polished shoes. He totally nailed the bad-ass-rich-boy look. The expressionless face, that brown hair…everything looks so familiar.
Jin stared hard at him, Yoongi realised it too, and he looked back. Their eye contact lasted for quite sometime. Surprisingly it wasn’t obvious to the other colleagues. Tons of questions went through Jin’s mind – why are you back now? where did you go? how have you been doing? do you still remember me? Jin hoped he could transmit these questions to Yoongi immediately, he was desperate to know.
Jin wanted to bravely run up and hug Yoongi tightly. To tell him that he missed him a lot, tell him that he was so glad to have him back.
However, something was wrong. There wasn’t love or affection in Yoongi’s eyes anymore. It was cold, so cold it could freeze Jin’s heart. Heartlessly, Yoongi turned his face away and started to look at the surroundings. That wasn’t the Yoongi Jin knew. Something was wrong.
Yoongi became the director of the company, no surprise, he’s the founder’s son after all. His office was diagonally opposite Jin’s desk. For the entire day, Jin could not concentrate. He tried calling Yoongi’s number but apparently, he seems have changed a mobile number.
Finally, curiosity got the better of him. He had to get everything explained by today. And so, he took a random file from his desk and went straight to Yoongi’s office. Not even bothered to knock the door for permission, he simply dashed in without any lines in mind.
Yoongi was shocked, but he kinda expected this situation already.
“May I help you, Kim Seok Jin ssi?” he said with a smile, an unfamiliar smile.
“Yoongi, it’s you right? Don’t you remember me?”
“Of course I do, you’re one of our staffs.”
“And? We were together for a few months before you disappeared remember?”
“There’s some things I don’t wanna bring up again, and that is probably one of those.”
“Huh? What happened to you Yoongi?”
“Nothing.”
“Aniyo, you changed.”
“Change for the better I guess.”
Jin shook his head continuously as tears formed at the corner of his eyes. Things shouldn’t become like this.
“I don’t even know you anymore Yoongi.”
“That’s probably good, I’m also planning to cut ties with you.”
“What?!? This is not happening…” Jin slowly back away and as soon as he reached the door, he opened it and ran away as fast as he could. The guy in front of him wasn’t Yoongi anymore.
His heart felt so painful, like thousands of knives stabbing him. His heart was torn apart and the pain was unbearable. How did things become like that?
Jin ran to the rooftop, the only place he could think of where there isn’t anyone. Hiding at a corner, he bent down and hugged his knee. Tears started pouring down and he did not even try to control. Emotions overwhelmed him and all he could do was to pray hard it is all just a dream.
He was delighted when he saw the guy he love returning back after two years. He was angry at him for disappearing without a word but he can’t bear to hate him because…he still loves him a lot. He was ready to forgive Yoongi for any ridiculous reason he’s gonna give but…that Yoongi wasn’t the Yoongi he loved.
The guy sitting in the office, he doesn’t feel familiar anymore. When did he became to heartless? How could he just crush their relationship like some useless paper? There were many ‘whys’ in Jin’s mind but he was mentally too tired to find out everything today.
The sudden return of Yoongi is already surprising enough and now…cutting ties with him…things happened to fast and Jin simply couldn’t handle it.
