Author’s Note
It’s Valentine’s day and I’m here spending it with my computer 🙁 Am I the only one??
Anyway, this is a kinda sad story as that’s what I’m feeling right now…Enjoy!
A Jimin x V story…
“Rise and shine hyung!!”
Rays of sunlight shone through the window, as Jungkook pulled open the curtains that were closed for god knows how long. However, the sudden and irritating flash of light did not wake Taehyung up from his deep slumber.
After making the room as bright as possible, Jungkook turned to look at his hyung who never moved an inch ever since his arrival.
“Hyung!! Wake up!” he shouted, but there still isn’t any reaction.
Method number 2 – shaking.
He jumped onto the bed and began to shake his motionless hyung, still shouting, “wake up!!”
Taehyung wasn’t like that few months ago. He was the happy-go-lucky type. He would never stay on the bed till afternoon, because he knows he still have lots of stuff to explore. Never would he stay at home for the entire week. But today, he broke his record, two weeks…living in darkness, skipping some meals if he forgot, showering seems like an unfamiliar thing to him now, he simply spent most of his time, no, all of his time, on bed.
“Arghh!” Taehyung grumbled, putting a pillow over his face, “go away!”
“Andwae hyung! I’m gonna get you out of the house today!”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“Gossh, your mouth sinks! When is the last time you brushed your teeth? And your clothes…I clearly remember seeing it five days ago!”
“It’s none of your business Kookie.”
“It is! I’m worried for you hyung, you can’t continue living like this for the rest of your life!”
“I am! So now…get lost!”
“It’s not worth it giving yourself up just for that scumbag!”
“Shuddap.”
“He’s not gonna witness all of this. He’s the one who broke up with you, he should be the one suffering and not you!”
“You’re getting overbroad Kookie.”
“He’s gone now hyung, he left you for another girl and that’s it! You wasting your life here would not turn back in time, nor would it bring him back to your side, wake up hyung!” Jungkook yelled, unable to control his emotions anymore.
Taehyung kept quiet this turn round. He did not retaliate, probably knowing what the maknae said was kinda true. That wasn’t his first breakup, but it was certainly his last break up, as claimed by him. He claimed he would not fall in love with any other person ever again. He was dumped miserably by his one year-long boyfriend, keyword – miserably. Evil got its name and it was Park Jimin.
Unlike Taehyung, Jimin was famous in high school, all the girls and even guys know him, for his good looks and irresistible charms. Getting into a gay relationship was their dirty little secret. Taehyung was very cooperative, always on full alert when they’re going on a date, swinging Jimin’s hands away whenever he felt eyes on them.
Jimin, on the other hand, was enjoying it too, not just hooking a guy he kinda felt cute, but could also openly flirt with girls in school. “I need to maintain my flirty guy image so that people would not suspect us” was his reason he told Taehyung, and naïve Taehyung believed. Taehyung was just too deeply in love with this charming hot guy. And little did he expect heartless Jimin to dump him after spending the night at Jimin’s place.
“I did some serious reflections and realised that I don’t actually like guys, I’m sorry,” Jimin’s break-up line kept repeating in Taehyung’s mind. Taehyung knew it was a lie, but he did not bear himself to hate on him, because he loves him a lot a lot.
After much persuasion by Jungkook, Taehyung finally got off his bed and went to get a quick shower. Jungkook had everything planned out that day, on that special day. They’re going to have lunch, catch a comedy movie and probably go for a night walk along Han River. Sounds like a perfect date…and indeed, it was a date. What else could happen on Valentine’s day?
“Hyung, you can’t dress like that!” Jungkook whined and immediately pulled his hyung back to the wardrobe. Rip-off shirts and baggy pants just wasn’t the dress code for that day.
Flipping through the wardrobe, Jungkook found not a single suitable outfit, until he spotted a untouched bag resting at the bottom corner. It was a present from Jungkook a year ago. Inside contained the ‘ideal’ outfit Jungkook wants his hyung to wear.
Finally, skinny jeans and a simple black tee is enough to bring out Taehyung’s charms, as they leave the house.
Jungkook chose a French restaurant. Classy? Yea…he placed lots of effort planning this date. He even reserved a table.
Everything was going according to plan. Steaks were served to them, the two boys were chatting happily. It was the first time after a month since they chatted. Like always, they talked about almost everything. Jungkook missed his talkative hyung, and he really wanted the moment to last.
As he brought his drink up to take a sip, Taehyung caught sight of a familiar figure. He could only see his sideview but it was sufficient enough for him to identify – it was Park Jimin.
Taehyung could not react. After not seeing him for six months, and now with him appearing all of sudden…not something Taehyung ever expected. He felt the pain again, the pain he experienced the moment he was dumped. God knows how hard it took for him to turn his view away and concentrate back on Kookie.
“So I was thinking hyung,” Jungkook, who was still oblivious, spoke, “maybe we could watch a movie after this?”
That voice just slowly died off in Taehyung’s mind. His mind was now in a mess. His eyes darted here and there and no he did not just look back…no…no…shit he did! Now, with closer observation. He knew somewhere in his body, a voice was trying to convince him that it is just a look-alike, but he ignored it. His subconscious told him to stop but he just can’t. It was like a magnet, a strong attraction that he couldn’t resist.
At this moment, Jimin, who was sitting a few tables away, noticed that stare. He turned around with a blank expression. He, too, was shocked. And yes, they made eye contact. Awkward? Yeaaa…very.
Taehyung blinked and wanted to pretend that he did not see anything when he realised the person sitting in front of Jimin. It was a girl. Another knife went through Taehyung’s heart. He thought his heart was already numbed after crying for six months. But this pain was on another level.
He quickly looked down at his dish and attempted to scoop some salad to distract him. Ignoring the fact that his hands were shivering, he tried to act as normal as possible even though he knew, from the corner of his eyes, Jimin was still staring at him.
Taehyung couldn’t take it anymore. Maybe…he shouldn’t have even come out from his house.
Surely, Taehyung wanted to see Jimin again ever since the break up. Begging Jimin to get back together, asking whether did he not do good enough…Taehyung knew what he’s gonna do when he face Jimin again. But now, when everything became reality, his desire to want Jimin back seemed to disappear.
Jungkook realised the situation soon enough, but he just kept quiet. Only Taehyung can decide what to do next; whether to face him directly or simply ignore and walk away. And Taehyung chose the latter one.
His mind was blank when he stood up. “Give me some time,” he whispered to Jungkook before exiting the restaurant.
Jimin witnessed that too. And according to his instinct, he followed after Taehyung. Right outside the restaurant was Taehyung leaning against the wall with his face buried in his hands. Jimin approached him and tapped his shoulder.
Taehyung was taken aback. He wasn’t prepared to face his ex yet, but a voice inside him told him to stop avoiding and face the situation bravely.
Jimin spoke first, with a simple “hi”.
“Hi.”
“Didn’t expect to see you after so long?”
“Me neither.”
“It has been six month since our break up?”
“Ne.”
“So…are you doing fine?”
Great, the last person who would ask him this question is actually insensitively asking. Are you doing fine? Is like giving someone a tight slap and asking is he okay. Stabbing someone so many times and asking him if he’s alive.
“(fake laugh) to be honest…no.”
“…”
“My world literally collapsed after your departure. I gave up on life – locking myself at home, not wanting to meet any people, not even wanting to wake up ever again. My heart was torn apart by you, and it never got back ever again. Pain was the only thing I felt everyday.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Ne, you should be. But unlike me, you seemed to move on pretty smoothly. Bring a girl out to eat on Valentine’s day…”
“The girl I was with, she’s not-“
“It’s okay, you don’t need to explain. Because…I’m just a nobody to you now, right?”
“Don’t say that.”
“…”
“Seems like you moved on too? That Jungkook guy at the restaurant…he seems to be love in with you for quite a long time, even before we got together. Isn’t it great? Both of us had found our new partners now.”
“You did, but I didn’t. It is tough for me to love another person when my heart still belongs to the one who broke it.”
“If you’re trying to make me guilty, yea you succeeded. I’m sorry. I just want to let you know, during the period when we were together, I was truly in love with you, serious. I swear.”
“Thanks for telling us after so long. I guess, I really should move on. I thought I couldn’t live without you, but, seems like I’m wrong. There’s still another person who’s very important to me.”
“So…are we still…friends?”
“You think? This will probably be our last time talking to each other. In the future, if we see each other on the streets, we’ll be strangers.”
With that, Taehyung forced out a smile and walked away, to the direction of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, at the restaurant, lonely Jungkook was simply sitting there, gulping down his drink. Everything could possibly happen. Them getting back together…is the least he hoped to happen. Surely he hoped he could check out what’s happening outside, at least to give him a mental warning.
From far, he saw Taehyung coming back in, his eyes were red.
Instinctively, Jungkook stood up slowly. Standing in front of each other, Jungkook dare not make any sound. He wasn’t prepared to accept reality, mainly the reality that his bestfriend has got back with his ex.
Unexpectedly, Taehyung pulled him in for a tight embrace, ignoring the stares coming from people in the restaurant. Jungkook was shocked, of course, but managed to hug back.
“Thank you for bringing me out today,” Taehyung whispered.
Jungkook couldn’t grasp what he meant, until when Taehyung placed a kiss on his cheeks.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” the older one said.
