Vic’s POV

I wake up to shuffling and my eyes crack open. Kellin’s searching through his drawers in his underwear, probably for clothes. He looks so damn beautiful.

“Hey,” I mumble.

Kellin looks back at me shyly.

He’s still very self-conscious and embarrassed of his body, but he’s getting more comfortable.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?” I ask him.

“It’s still early.” he says.

I frown and reach for my phone. There’s still two hours until we have to get up.

“What are you doing up so early?” I yawn, burying my face back into my pillow.

“I had a nightmare.” he whispers.

I frown and pat his spot on the bed.

“Come here, baby.” I say softly.

He comes over and gets back into bed, still I’m his boxers. I wrap my arms around him and kiss him softly.

“What was it about?” I ask him softly.

“I starved to death.” he whispers.

I frown and kiss his nose.

“That will never happen, okay?” I tell him.

“Okay.” he whispers back.

I run my fingers down his abdomen. He shivers slightly as my fingers run over his ribs. They’re slowly but surely disappearing.

“You’re so beautiful.” I tell him.

He blushes and snuggles back into my arms.

“Try to get more sleep, baby. We’re starting school soon. You need your rest.” I tell him.

He nods and closes his eyes.

“I love you, Viccy.” he murmurs.

“I love you too, Kells.” I smile.

He’s asleep within minutes and after just watching him sleep, I follow not long after.

I don’t eat much at breakfast that morning. I’m sick with nerves. I have no idea what this new school will be like. What if it’s just as bad as my last school?

Kellin on the other hand can barely contain his excitement.

“If you boys have any problems, call us, okay?” Papa says sternly.

“Will do,” I mumble.

Mama gives me a sympathetic look and reaches across the table, talking my hand.

“You’re going to be fine, Mijo. And if you’re not, we’ll keep trying until we get it right. There’s somewhere out there for you. You just have to find it.” Mama explains softly.

“I know, Mama. Thank you.” I whisper through a grateful smile.

She squeezes my hand before she finally drops it.

“We should probably go.” I tell Kellin, who had seemingly ate his breakfast without swallowing. He must still be bothered by his nightmare.

“You haven’t eaten though.” he frowns, pointing to my untouched cereal.

“I’m not hungry.” I shrug.

He frowns and takes an apple from the fruit bowl in the middle of the table.

“At least take an apple.” he says and I chuckle.

I kiss his temple and take the apple from his hand.

“Thanks Kell.” I beam and he looks prideful.

We say goodbye to my parents and then I drive off to this new school .

We go to the main office when we arrive and are greeted by a lady and a kid who looks about my age. He’s covered in tattoos and has his ears stretched. Kellin moves behind me, anxious around strangers, as usual, but even more so after staying at the group home.

“You must be Vic and Kellin.” the lady smiles. I just nod. “I’m Jenny, the guidance counselor. This is Tony. I thought I’d get him to show you around.”

Tony introduces himself then gestures for Kellin and I to follow him. He shows us around the school and gives us our schedules. He seems pretty nice.

I look over Kellin and I’s schedule and notice that Kellin and I only have one class together and that’s gym.

I’m instantly anxious for Kellin.

“Maybe we can get these changed.” I mumble.

“Vic, it’s fine.” Kellin smiles.

“Are you sure?” I frown unsurely.

“I’m a big boy. I can handle it.” he chirps, kissing my cheek.

“Are you boyfriends? I thought you were brothers. You have the same last name.” Tony says confused.

“We’re actually married.” I chuckle nervously.

“What? That’s so cool. Like legally?” Tony grins and I feel myself relax. At least he’s not a homophobic dick.

“Yeah, legally. We got married two weeks ago and had the wedding last weekend.” I murmur, kissing Kellin’s head as he grins giddily.

Our wedding was wonderful. It was very small and we didn’t really dress up. We stood at the peer and recited our vows. It was beautiful. Kellin was beautiful.

“Well shit, congratulations.” Tony beams.

“Thank you.” I mumble.

Tony snatches Kellin and I’s schedules from my hand and looks at them.

“Kellin, we will walk you to math because Vic and I have music class together.” Tony chirps then he gives me back our schedules. I hand Kellin’s to him and we follow Tony down the hallway.

We stop at the classroom where kids are already starting to pile in.

“Meet me at your locker after class.” I tell him and he nods. “Do you have your phone?”

“I do.” he chirps.

Mama had bought him a phone yesterday just for some piece of mind.

“Call me if you need anything. Or text me.” I tell him.

“Viccy,” he giggles. “I’m going to be fine. Stop worrying.”

“Okay, you’re right.” I agree.

He goes to walk into the classroom but I take his hand.

“Forgetting my kiss?” I ask.

He grins and wraps his arms around my neck, kissing me softly.

“Get it, boy.” a girl cheers as she walks past us into the classroom.

I blush as Kellin pulls away. That’s two people now that aren’t homophobic assholes. That’s record breaking compared to our old school.

Kellin and I say our goodbyes then Tony and I start walking down the hallway again.

“You must have got bullied pretty badly.” Tony sighs.

“How’d you know?” I ask confused.

“You looked like you were expecting something negative when Kellin kissed you. It’s also the main reason people come here, me included. And you have a scar that says ‘fag’ on your neck.” Tony says.

I slap my hand over my neck self-consciously.

“So are people accepting here?” I question hopefully.

Tony looks at me and grins, “Dude, it’s queer heaven.”

I meet Kellin at his locker before lunch and I ask him about class.

“Oh, Vic. It’s so great here. The people are really nice and my teachers are really helpful. I don’t feel like a complete idiot for the first time in my life.” He beams. “Do you like it here?”

“Well I haven’t been shoved, tripped or spat on. So far so good.” I chuckle.

“Kellin?” I hear someone say unsurely.

I look behind me at a guy coming our way.

“Make a new friend?” I ask Kellin but he just frowns confused.

The guy stops next to me.

“Holy shit, it is you!” this guy grins.

Kellin stares back nervous and still confused.

“You don’t remember me?” he sighs.

Then Kellin’s eyes widen in excitement.

“Justin! Oh my God, it’s been forever.” Kellin grins.

Justin? As in the-only-other-boy-he’s-ever-kissed Justin. Great, out of every school in the state, we just so happen to attend one with this kid.

“It has! I haven’t seen you since that day under the slide in fourth grade.” he grins and Kellin blushes. “So when did you move here? Why did you leave school?”

“It’s a long story.” Kellin sighs.

“Well we’ll have to catch up sometime. I’ll see you around, cutie.” he grins, looking Kellin up and down before walking away without a single acknowledgment of my existence.

“Well he seems like a jerk.” I mutter.

“He seems sweet.” Kellin whines.

I can’t help but to feel insecure after that. This guy was obviously flirting with Kellin and he just let him. Not to mention that I’m the first guy he’s ever dated. What if he just decides that I’m not the one?

He holds my hand as we wander to the cafeteria. I notice no one staring at us or giving us murderous looks. This is nice.

When we enter, I look around nervously for a place to sit until I see Tony waving us over. He’s sitting with another guy across from him. Kellin and I head over to the table. I sit next to Tony and Kellin sits next to the other guy.

“Kellin, Vic, this is Jaime.” Tony introduces. I give him a nod.

“Woah, crazy hair.” Kellin gasps looking at the blonde streak in Jaime’s messy hair.

“Thanks man!” Jaime grins, running his fingers through it.

He looks at me and his eyes widen slightly.

“Dude, your scars!” he exclaims.

I automatically look down at my arms but they’re covered by sleeves. Then I realize he’s talking about my neck.

“Dude, I’ve got one too.” he beams, standing up and pulling up his shirt, revealing a thick pink scar on his stomach.

Someone whistles and says “looking good Hime-Time”.

“What happened?” Kellin frowns.

“Eighth grade, holding hands with my boyfriend, some asshole decides to stab me.” he says almost proudly.

I frown sadly.

“Dude, don’t give me that look. I wear this shit with pride. Proof that no asshole can stop me from being who I am and loving who I love.” he says.

His words make me feel a little better.

“Yeah, but you’ve got a stab wound. That’s practically cool. I have ‘fag’ carved into my neck.” I mutter.

“At least you’ll meet guys easily. They won’t have to wonder whether you’re gay.” he chirps.

I notice Kellin glare at Jaime who obviously doesn’t know I have a husband.

“Actually, Vic and Kellin are married so that won’t be necessary.” Tony smirks.

“Married? That’s sick.” Jaime grins.

Suddenly, Justin appears at the table next go Kellin.

“What do you want?” Tony sneers.

Justin ignores him and smiles down at Kellin.

“Hey Hot Stuff, my friends want to meet you. Come sit with us. Your friend can come too if he wants.” he say, glancing at me. I get the feeling I’m not wanted.

“Husband.” I correct but he ignores my comment.

Kellin looks at me hopefully, as if asking permission.

“You can go if you want. I’m going to stay here.” I tell him.

He grins excitedly and follows Justin back to his table, forgetting my kiss once again.

“How do you know Fuckboy?” Tony turns to me confused.

“I don’t. He was Kellin’s first kiss or something.” I mutter.

“Oh boy, that’s gotta suck.” Jaime whistles.

“They were like ten. It’s not like it meant anything.” I shrug.

“Maybe not then, maybe not to Kellin.” Jaime says.

“What do you mean?” I frown confused.

“Justin is the biggest fuckboy. Tony will tell you.” Jaime says.

I look to Tony expectantly while Tony rolls his eyes. He notices I’m waiting for an explanation so he sighs.

“I dated Justin last year–”

“After multiple warnings from me.” Jaime interrupts.

“Can you drop the I-Told-You-So attitude?” Tony snaps. “Anyway, I dated him last year and he cheated on me with three different guys. At the same time.”

“And he means, at the same time. Like in the same room, in the same bed, at the same time.” Jaime stresses.

“Dude, that’s rough.” I frown.

“No, what’s rough is walking in and seeing that. I’m never going to get that image out of my head.” Tony groans. “Thanks Hime, thanks for bringing that up.”

I look over at Kellin. Justin has his arm resting on the back of Kellin’s chair.

“I can confirm right now that Justin is fucking at least two people, that I know of, at that table.” Jaime says. “Just look out for your hubby, he seems quite impressionable.”

“He is.” I mumble. Due to Kellin’s upbringing, he more or less does anything anyone will tell him to and he’ll believe anything anyone says. I just hope he’s smart enough to not get taken advantage of.

When Kellin and I arrive home that afternoon, Mama greets us with a big smile.

“So how was your first day?” she asks.

Kellin starts rambling excitedly so I use the chance to sneak away and go up to my room.

Half an hour goes by and Mama knocks on the door.

“Come in,” I call, sitting up.

She smiles softly at me and sits on Kellin’s bed.

“How was your first day?” she asks.

“Fine.” I shrug.

“Honey, if it’s the school, we can find another one.” she frowns.

“No, the school is really good.” I tell her.

“Then what is it? What’s the matter?” she frowns.

I know it would kill her if I didn’t tell her so I just decide to be honest.

“It’s Kellin.” I sigh.

“What about Kellin?” she frowns.

“It’s like he just forgot about me today. And there’s was this douchebag obviously flirting with him and it’s like he didn’t even care.” I grumble.

“Honey, you know how he gets when he’s excited. He’s not very good at paying attention to multiple things at a time. I’m sure tomorrow will be better when he’s calmed down a bit. He’s also not good at reading social cues. I doubt he had any idea that kid was flirting with him. He loves you, don’t forget that.” she murmurs.

“I know. I just don’t want to lose him, again.” I mumble.

“You wont.” she assures me.

Her words relax me a little bit but I’m still unsure. He means the world to me and losing him would be the worst thing that could ever happen to me.
