— They didn’t gouge your eye out, did they? If so, tell me, I don’t want to be scared when I see you at school tomorrow.

— Yah, shouldn’t you be working? — Heejin complained, feeling the wound on her face throb a bit as she carefully placed her palm on the affected area.

Fortunately, it hadn’t been anything serious, however, she had had a wound inside her eye, so she had to go to the hospital, which she was in now, Heejin hated hospitals almost like Sooho, just thinking that they would have to be in a place full of sick people and where many had died, terrified them.

But the boy had literally dragged his friend to that place before dropping her off there and going to work. — I’m worrying about you and that’s how you pay me, ah, how ungrateful.

Heejin laughed, walking out into the main hallway of the hospital, with the prescription for a few eye drops in her hand, sighing knowing that she would have to go to a drugstore before going home.

The day had been quite long for her, and she really just wanted to go to sleep or something. Listening to the boy shout goodbye before cursing, he seemed to have tripped or something. — Soo, go to work, I’m fine, I’ll see you tomorrow at school.

— Don’t gouge your eye out Heejin.

— I’ll think about it. — The girl blurted out in an innocent tone, Sooho, knowing that the girl wouldn’t even be able to touch her eye because she was afraid of the pain, he said goodbye more calmly before hanging up. Putting her hands in the pockets of her sweater, Heejin kept walking down the hall with some boredom, seeing something blurry with her right eye, she had been straining it, so it was a little difficult for her to see with it.

The brunette looked around the hall until a voice made her stop.

— Heejin. — She turned around, looking for the owner of that deep voice before focusing her eye, seeing Sieun on the spot, he was removing his headphones and getting up from his seat, his eyes looked somewhat worried, but the girl really didn’t know if it was that she couldn’t see with her eye, or if she was just hallucinating, so she really didn’t give much importance to his expression. — Ah… Are you okay?

— Oka- Oh! Yes… Yes, it was just a small wound… And bleeding, but that’s okay. — The girl touched the patch she had to cover her eye as well as the bandage that protected the wound next to it. — What are you doing here? Are you hurt? Although I don’t think so, you looked like a hulk over there… — She smiled, raising her arms, as if she was showing off her muscles, but nothing could be seen, due to Sooho’s big sweatshirt she was wearing. — Do you know if Yeongbin isn’t going to look like Voldemort? — She asked with open eyes, touching her nose as she looked at him.

Sieun felt a hint of annoyance upon hearing that question, frowning minimally, not saying much, just shaking his head,. Heejin clenched his jaw as he smiled, nodding. — Are you worried? — He asked seriously and suddenly, even he was surprised to hear his tone, yes, it had come out more serious than usual.

Heejin raised an eyebrow, not understanding what he meant, and somewhat frightened by that deep tone, she didn’t know that he could speak so deeply.

— Youngbin. Are you worried?

— Oh, I’m just asking because it would be strange to see. — She shrugged, noticing Sieun to avert her gaze

The boy sighed, a little calmer, but still inquire, not because of the girl’s answer, but because of the reason that had made him feel so annoyed. — Hey, are you going home alone?

And again, that serious tone came out of him, almost instinctively. — No.

— Ou, okay, then, good night. —  The girl grimaced before smiling at him, raising her hand to say goodbye, Sieun watched as she passed by his side.

His mind processed everything, turning around to see her walking, walking away from the aisle, he noticed how she said goodbye to each person who passed by her, averting his gaze, he waited two seconds, and before she left the hospital completely, he decided to take his backpack from the seat and walk behind her.

Of course he wasn’t going to leave alone, but he wasn’t going to tell her that she’d be the one he’d go with.

Walking through the darkness of the streets, he decided to go about five steps away from her, just walking and making sure not to lose sight of her, he didn’t know the reason for that act, but lately, it had been becoming a habit, one that caused confusion to himself, because he had never done that before, and that suddenly, he was waiting for the girl to get out of class when he heard that Sooho wouldn’t be walking her home, or to the academy, or when she left the academy and went home, and now this, he felt like a stalker, but something inside him wouldn’t let him just walk faster than her.

Heejin on the other hand, had felt how someone was going after her, and she knew very well that it was Sieun, she had seen him when she was looking for the medicine in the drugstore, she had seen how the boy stood outside the place while looking at a fixed point on the street almost disinterestedly. Also, she knew that it wasn’t the first time he did that, when she left the academy, He did, from time to time, when she didn’t talk to him, he just walked behind her without saying anything, she had also seen him once when they left class, she stopped to buy some things at the convenience store and he was there,  pretending to be reading something, the funny thing is that this one had the noodle box upside down.

The girl felt a touch of warmth inside her seeing that, however, she didn’t speak to him all the way, and she just acted like he wasn’t there, because if he hadn’t wanted to come and walk with her, he would have to have a reason right?

Now, when they both arrived at the building, the girl stopped in front of the door of her apartment, watching Sieun do the same and putting the code to open the door, before he entered her house, the girl smiled. — Good night Sieun, thank you for accompanying me home.

Heejin entered the classroom while carrying her backpack and carrying a popsicle in her mouth, she hadn’t had time to eat breakfast, so in order not to faint in class, she decided to eat sugar, it was not healthy or recommended, but it would still keep her awake for the day, at least, until lunch.

She saw how Yeongbin’s friends were in front of a serious Sieun, she sighed heavily seeing that scene, she didn’t want another fight so early. — Yah, it’s too early to be sent back to the hospital with a pencil stuck in your hand, don’t you think? Enjoy the morning, breathe in the morning air.

The girl began, taking the popsicle out of her mouth as she walked to her seat, seeing Sooho there, asleep as usual.

— Yah… What, are you afraid that you will have to go and see your little boy in the hospital?

— From what I remember, the one who ended up in the hospital last time was you, right?

– You have the same mouth as the bitch you have for mother, right? You don’t know when to close it.

—What can you expect? She must be an offeree just like her mother. That’s why Sooho spends so much time at your house, isn’t it? — The girl left her backpack on the chair, smiling innocently as she threw her head back, she was going to say something else before the sound of Sieun getting up from her seat made them all look at him.

—Shut up. — Sieun’s voice was heard, Heejin noticed how he looked at the two boys before leaving his chair, walking towards the exit. — Your problem is with me, stop being cowards and don’t get others into this.

Without another word, Heejin watched as the boy walked out of the room, serious gaze fixed on his path while the other two boys glanced at her before leaving, following him. She thought about following them before a voice stopped her. -Hee… My head hurts.

Seeing Sooho, noticing how red his face was, she immediately got up, completely forgetting Sieun, concentrating on her friend, who pouted while squinting at her. — The girl touched his forehead, noticing how hot it was. —  Come on, get up, we’ll go to the infirmary.

Another day, Heejin always hated waking up early, sometimes, she had her days when she woke up in a good mood, others when she just wanted to keep sleeping, that, until she remembered that Sooho was practically antisocial and had no friends but her because, according to him, no one was worth it.

A lie, he was just lazy and lazy to talk to people.

Heejin wasn’t that way, however, in school, both of them, they weren’t very appreciated by others, so she really doubted that he would be able to make friends even if he tried.

The classes went by quickly, lunch was what the bell had indicated, however, Heejin was not in the mood to eat, although she hadn’t really eaten all day, the sleepiness that the history teacher’s voice had caused her was getting the better of her, but she knew that Sooho would indeed be hungry, so, getting up to stretch a little, she watched as her friend slept peacefully at his desk. Heejin smiled with some fondness in her eyes at that image, she always admired Sooho’s dedication to not missing a single day of school despite the fact that his jobs squeezed him, physically and mentally.

Maybe that admiration was what made her stay by his side for so long, to think that she had a determined and persistent person as her friend, that was something she was not going to let go, her father always said that she should surround herself with that kind of people, so, she always thought that it would be a good friendship,  And it turned out to be true.

And she wanted to be a good friend too, that’s why, from time to time, she would help his grandmother with some things around the house, he would tell her that it wasn’t necessary, however, seeing him even sleep at school so that his grandmother could be proud of him, made her want to help him in any way she could,  Because she knew that the boy would do the same if things were the other way around.

— Hoo…— The girl said, finishing stretching, however, he didn’t wake up.

Okay, Heejin may have appreciated it but patience was something she didn’t have, so, with a blow, not so hard, but she did manage to scare the boy, she made him wake up to look at her with a frown. — It’s lunchtime.

— No, leave me, I want to sleep. — The girl rolled her eyes, ready to give him another blow before a deep voice, behind her, was heard.

— Wake up. You wanted me to invite you to lunch. — Heejin saw Sieun there, his bored expression made her want to laugh, his face would really hurt the first time he smiled.

Heejin turned to look at her friend, who looked at the boy with a frown, analyzing him. — What about your face? — Heejin saw Sieun again, they bumped their eyes for a second before the boy looked away first, swallowing hard as he looked at Sooho seriously. — I don’t want to eat, take Heejin with you.

She smiled at those words, approaching Sieun immediately, made the brunette move with some confusion, more so when she looked into his eyes before seeing her friend. — I think it’s a good idea, come on Sieun, today is meat day. — The girl said, carefully taking the sleeve of the boy’s sweater to start walking with him out of the room.

Sieun could see the girl’s hand, blinking on her nails, seeing how the green color was gone and now a pink color was shining on them, it was not a strong color, in fact, Sieun almost didn’t notice the color, it seemed almost the natural color of these, however, if it weren’t for the sun shining on these, he wouldn’t have noticed, her hands looked whiter still, he didn’t know why, but her nails looked better than the green ones she was wearing a few days ago.

When he saw the contrast of the skin on their hands, he felt a warm touch on his chest, it was weird, she looked too pale next to him.

Heejin smiled as she heard the sound of a chair being suddenly dragged before a few footsteps stopped beside him.

— Yah… you had to keep begging me, kid, being like that you’ll never get anything with Heejin. — Sooho complained, walking past his friend as he looked at the boy.

— Do I want to get anything out with her? — Heejin looked at him when he said that, the disinterest in his voice, she wasn’t going to lie, it hurt a little, but she could see how the boy hadn’t moved his arm to remove her grip from him, so smiling, she continued on her way, pulling him a little, almost jokingly while Sooho complained about an old lady who made him check every food he gave her the night before because there was, always, something missing.

That was until they reached their tables, with their trays full, the girl was willing to pay for her food, because the one Sieun had invited was Sooho, not her, however, the shorter one didn’t let her pay, he just gave her the tray of food and moved it aside to pay, which made Sooho laugh before pulling his friend to a table. — Now he invites you to eat, what did you give him? Tell me, maybe I’ll get a girlfriend too.

The girl looked at her friend, who pouted at her as he sat next to her at the table, she made a displeasure expression before shaking her head. The boy suddenly became serious, just as Sieun arrived and sat down in front of them.

Heejin just started eating, she didn’t have enough of an appetite but she couldn’t waste the food he had given her. – I wasn’t ordering a feast, but I can afford school food.

— Don’t eat if you don’t want to.

— Hey, kitten, don’t treat him again, he’s ungrateful. — Heejin called, earning a blow on the ribs from her friend, which caused her to bite her tongue due to the surprise he caused her, the girl complained, almost jumping in her chair as she put her hand in her mouth.

Sieun looked at that, noticing how she closed her eyes before opening them, somewhat watery, when Sooho almost put his face in the food tray, he blinked, they get along better than they show, for sure.

Sooho complained before seeing Sieun, smiling a little. — Thanks for the food. — This one said with a smile before stuffing a big spoonful of rice into his mouth.

— I hope you choke. — The girl murmured to her friend, who frowned before smiling at her and making a duck mouth, sending her a kiss, laughing at seeing the girl shake her head almost in disgust.

Sieun saw that, noticing the natural interaction of both of them, for a second, he wanted to interrupt that moment, just because something inside him wanted it that way, clearing his throat, he decided not to, however, he had already caught their attention, so he had to look for something to say. — By the way… — His eyes collided with Heejin’s for a second before returning to Sooho. — Why do you sleep at school?

— Oh, that… I come here after my part-time job ends, I’m very lazy so I may not wake up if I go home. — Sooho shrugged. — Like the time I fell asleep on Heejin’s couch, hey, when you go to her house, don’t lie on that couch, seriously, it’s like it’s possessed, you’re going to fall asleep, I swear.

He also sleeps at her home?

— It’s called being tired Sooho, I’ve explained it to you a million times. — The girl chewed on her food and tried to speak without showing anything that was inside her mouth.

— Ah, but my cute Heejin almost made me miss classes, she even covered me with blankets and everything, but my grandma told me that she wanted to see me with an attendance award and a diploma even if I choose not to go to college… — The boy explained, however, Sieun got lost on his previous words.

Did he visit the girl’s house often?

— Hey, I’ve noticed that you always have your headphones on, like you’re one of those arrogant idiots who go through life with that thing stuck in their ears… Do you like listening to music? — Sooho asked.

Heejin at this point in the conversation had already filled up, passing her tray to the tallest one so that he could finish her meal. Sooho looked down before seeing the girl. — Oh no, eat it, you haven’t eaten almost anything, you’re going to faint.

— I’m not hungry.

— Ah, nonsense, open your mouth. — Sieun watched with a grimace, almost invisible, as Sooho took the girl’s face with one hand, forcing her to open her mouth before bringing the chopsticks with food to her, making her eat.

— It’s annoying. — He murmured without realizing it, making the friends look at him again, Sooho, still with the girl’s face in his hands, looked at him without understanding, Sieun swallowed before lowering his gaze to his food. — It’s annoying if someone talks to me, that’s why I wear them, I don’t listen to music.

—  Ah, you really are a weird idiot, I know why she likes you-ah! — Heejin had literally stuck the chopsticks of her tray into the boy’s stomach when she heard what he was about to say, he looked at her in pain as she warned him with her gaze. — Ah, Heejin, damn you almost pulled my intestines out.

— Then keep eating, so that they become thicker and harder to tear, here. — This time it was the girl who took his face before putting a spoon of rice into his mouth.

Sieun saw the girl, mostly her hands that took the face of her friend, sighing, he decided to turn his eyes to her face, noticing how suddenly her domineering and challenging aura had turned into a nervous one. Sieun wasn’t an idiot, much less someone who didn’t know things, he knew that somehow the title “Heejin’s boyfriend” had come up and that it hadn’t been given that way.

And considering that it didn’t seem to affect her in the least, he guessed that she also knew the reason why they called him that.

What he didn’t understand was why it was “Heejin’s boyfriend” if it could be another name, though he wasn’t sure if “Sieun’s girlfriend” sounded right in his ears.

Maybe I’d have to listen to it to confirm it, right?
