— Do you want me to make you something for dinner?

— Can you make soup? Ms. Shin can’t, and I want to eat soup before going to work. — Sooho pouted while saying that, touching his stomach slowly, Heejin nodded, taking her bag.

— Well, I’ll go drop off some things at the principal office, you’d better be awake when I get back. — The girl threatened, before seeing her friend wave her to leave and put his face back in his arms and continue sleeping.

Ten minutes, that’s how long it took the girl before she returned to the classroom, which was already being sorted and cleaned by the students assigned that day. Heejin walked towards Sooho, noticing how asleep he was, so she picked up a small ball of paper that she saw on the ground, throwing it at him, who woke up with a start, at the impact of the paper with his face.

All, Heejin and the others in the place jumped in fright as they saw how the tallest one woke up screaming and throwing fists in the air, Sooho looked bewildered at his sides until his shoulders relaxed, sighing. —What? Is it time to go?

— Yes.

— Ah, you fucking ingrates, none of you could wake me up. —  Heejin laughed before opening her eyes as she heard him say he was going back to sleep.

— No, it’s time to go, if you fall asleep it’s going to be late and you won’t be able to eat. — The girl complained, shaking his head to spoil his dream. —Ahn Sooho, I’m serious. — She said.

— Give me ten more minutes, please.

— Ten minutes is how long it will take me to get home if I leave now and leave you here without eating. — Heejin explained, watching him close his eyes as if he didn’t care, however, she could see how the small bags under his eyes became noticeable. He was really tired.

She had a soft spot for Sooho tired, he was her only friend, and even though he was annoying at times, the girl appreciated him too much. — Okay, but only ten minutes.

Heejin had fallen asleep next to Sooho, she didn’t know how long it had been before she slapped the air when she felt something itching on her cheek, her eyes widened tiredly, and she saw the new guy standing in front of her.

Bumseok, that was his name.

The boy was quite tall, pale, and with a rather strange aura, it was like seeing a boy self-conscious and terrified to even speak, at the same time he looked quite scary, as if he had some anger inside him. But if she had to compare him to anything, she’d say it looked like Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Wow, yes, he looks pretty similar…

— Heejin has a boyfriend, go. —Sooho’s sleepy but serious voice was heard, making her look at him, the boy looked seriously at the tall man, as if he was bothering him. Which she knew wasn’t so, Sooho really wasn’t someone who hated others, in reality, he didn’t care what they did, as long as they didn’t mess with him, everything would be fine.
But if you were there to interrupt his sleep, yes, maybe you bothered him.

— No.. It’s not… Sieun, Yeongbin… He took Sieun somewhere and… He was with some big guys and…

— And that matter to us, because? — Sooho asked, interrupting the pale boy’s quick talk, Heejin blinked so she could pay attention to what he was saying, her sleepy state still didn’t let her process things around her well.

—Y… You should help him Is… not your boyfriend? — He asked Heejin, who hadn’t understood what the boy’s reason was in the place.

— Who? Sooho? No, he’s not my type, he gets six in math. — The slap on her head made her moan.

— At least I don’t miss classes just because a Songkang series is coming out.

— Of course you don’t, you sleep here, you idiot.

The boy was going to keep answering before Bumseok shook his head, almost desperately. — Ah, no… Sieun… Youngbin took him somewhere, he was with some guys, they looked like thugs, I thought that… Since is your boyfriend, maybe…

— Hey, we only ate together once, we’re not that close, and he’s not Heejin’s boyfriend, we just like to tease her with him…— Sooho explained, standing up from his seat, watching as Heejin looked at the tallest without saying anything, but that twinkle of worry in her eyes almost made him snort, he didn’t want to go waste energy that he hadn’t even recovered in going to beat Youngbin, it wasn’t worth it.

— How close do you have to be to help someone?

Wow, he has a point.

— I don’t know, I don’t like Hee’s suitors very much. — Sooho complained when he felt that blow on his ribs, looking at the girl next to him, who saw him almost begging. — I’m not going to go beat Youngbin, besides, it’s late, I have to go to work.

— I’ll pay you… I’ll pay you double what you make in a day. — Heejin raised her eyebrows when she heard that, of course she was worried about Sieun, she could even go find the boy herself but she knew that Sooho would not leave her, nor Bumseok wanted that, so she just looked at him with puppy dog eyes.

— Listen, I’m not someone you can bribe so easily–

— I’ll invite you to eat whatever you want. —Sooho looked at Heejin, who took his arm with those tender dog eyes that he hated because he always gave in to them.

Smiling suddenly, he put his arm around the girl’s shoulder, looking at Bumseok after a second. — Are we leaving, dear customers?

— I think you knew about this, you even bring your motorcycle. — Sooho said when he saw the girl jump on her vehicle, she gave him a look before shaking her head and putting on her helmet.

— Is that your motorcycle?

— Right? I told her that a motorcycle like that wasn’t for her, but she only bought it because the color was pretty. — Sooho said, putting on his helmet. — Green doesn’t even look good on you.

The girl frowned, thinking that he had said the same thing to her as Sieun that time in the bathroom. — Yah, what’s wrong with that color?

The boy just shook his head, taking his helmet, putting it on his head, beckoning to Bumseok, looking at Heejin. — Come on Hee, your boyfriend needs our help.

Ten minutes, that’s how long it took them to find an alley where they might be beating up some kid at that moment. Heejin got off first, running into the alley, not stopping to think about the girl standing there smoking a cigarette.

The brunette grimaced as she felt the pain in her knee when she stopped suddenly, but her grimace grew bigger when she saw Yeongbin slam the boy on the ground, bringing out all the pent-up rage he had in him. — Ah, Yeongbin-ah, when will you learn to not cause troubles after someone breaks your nose?

The boy looked up at that voice, there was something about it that caused him a touch of unbridled anger every time he heard it, he just wanted to scream and hit something, or someone, maybe because of the fact that it sounded so sure of itself and so challenging at the same time.

— No, no, stop. — The girl pointed when he took a step towards her. — I never gave you permission to move, did I?

Yeongbin cursed, rushing to her with a bottle in his hand, Heejin smiled, letting him approach, before she raised her helmet and hit the boy’s face with it, making him fall on some boxes of containers in pain, the two boys who were always with him rushed to her immediately, however, Sooho appeared, almost jumping on Heejin to punch one boy in the stomach and then push the smaller one towards the ground.

Sighing, the boy was going to put an arm around her shoulders, however, she ran towards Sieun on the ground. Grimacing at how he coughed with some force. — Ah, you look really bad.— Heejin murmured, seeing the boy’s hand, took it gently, noticing how red it was. — Come, get up.

Sieun looked at the girl for a second, feeling how cold her hand was, but he stood up with her help, feeling her gently shake his sweatshirt while muttering something about the quality of the fabric on it. — Yah, it ends here. Understood? —  Sooho said suddenly, seeing how Heejin carried Sieun with her towards him. — Let’s go.

Both nodded, moving to get out of the place, Heejin took Sieun’s hand, hoping that he wouldn’t push her away, because she simply wanted to make sure that it wasn’t fractured. However, she didn’t get to see much when she heard a call, turning around at the same time as the other two, Heejin let out a groan when she saw how the thug, who, she was sure, Yeongbin had hired, finished off Sooho, thus starting a fight between the two of them.

Heejin was going to move to be able to help her friend, but the tug on her backpack before the pain she felt in her legs when she fell on the ground, right where Yeongbin had fallen a while ago, made her not achieve her goal, her body lifted heavily as she felt the sting in her palms, however,  her eyes met two boys. Rather, men, they looked at her with a conceited and almost egocentric smile, which made her a little frightened and crawled when she saw how they both had a broken glass in their hands, when the first one rushed at her, she rolled on the ground, letting the first fall against the baskets that were in the place, however, she wasn’t fast enough for the second.

He grabbed her hair tightly, pulling it until the girl was standing with him, Heejin managed to see Yeongbin approach with a glass in his hand as well, she writhed in the man’s hands, who grabbed her by her neck, and even by her hair. A gasp came out of her mouth as the blow of the container struck her stomach, bending her a little as she waited for the second.

— Yah, Yeongbin. — Sieun screamed, seeing almost in terror what was happening in front of his eyes, although he was being brutally beaten by the boy’s two henchmen, he still had a clear vision, one that was bothering him greatly.

He knew the boy was an idiot, but he never thought he would hit a girl, not in that way. — If you’re as much of a man as you say you are… Work things out with me, leave her out of this.

— It’s so nice to see the couple defending each other… But if that’s what you want… Sorry Jinnie, we’ll leave this for another day. — The girl smiled at him.

— Come, get a little closer Yeongbin-ah… — The girl called, he looked at her doubtfully, however, he did, which led him to fall backwards and with a strong blow on the ground when Heejin leaned on the man behind her to lift both of her legs and push the boy’s chest hard, due to that same action, she fell next to the man to the ground, hearing a sharp thump after her scalp and neck were released, she quickly got up, grabbing the helmet that had fallen off before running to the two boys who were beating Sieun.

With a single blow to Jungchan’s head, she managed to scare the other bigger boy, knocking him back before she heard Sooho’s tired voice behind her. — Ah, good job Hee… And you haven’t eaten all day.

Sooho said, smiling as he stroked the girl’s hair before getting serious and seeing his three classmates. — Yah… Aren’t you ashamed to hit someone?

— Or pay someone to do it. That’s cowardly. — Sooho nodded towards Heejin’s words, swallowing before pointing at them.

— If I were you, I would be totally ashamed, I would let them publicly humiliate me for this.— Heejin looked at the big man who had fought Sooho, waving at him before pointing behind her.

— Tell that girl who’s with you that smoking cigarettes from an early age is going to cause her to end up with a hole in her throat. — The eldest looked at Yeongbin almost with annoyance mixed with disappointment before ordering the other two men to follow him, leaving the scene without saying a word.

The two friends watched him leave before returning to Yeongbin and seeing him with a mocking expression. — Jung Yeongbin… — Sieun’s thick voice was heard, causing everyone to look at him immediately. He, still caressing his hurt hand, took a few steps closer until he was in front of Heejin, and stared at the boy, that look, Yeongbin wasn’t going to lie, scared him a little. — Stop… And stay away… I told you from the beginning, I’m not going to repeat it to you again.

Sooho looked suspiciously at what was happening in front of his eyes, noticing how Heejin was coming to take Sieun’s injured hand, and seeing how the boy, with the personality of a surly cat, had not moved to remove her touch, he had also seen how he had stood in front of his friend in a way,  almost, protective, if he was capable of doing more than talking tough to protect the girl. The action and intention was what made Sooho smile inwardly.

— Okay, let’s go. — The boy said, taking the girl’s head so that she could walk with him, finding Bumseok on the spot with Sooho’s helmet in his hands. Heejin followed Sooho, however, she was taking the sleeve of the other boy’s sweatshirt clutched tightly between her fingers, not wanting to leave him behind. — Ah, all that fighting has made me hungry, let’s eat, you promised to treat me. — Sooho said, moving away from Heejin to point and stand in front of her and Sieun, who stood up when he said that, both looking at him with a raised eyebrow.

Heejin nodded, walking to the motorcycle before getting on, watching Sieun stand still, watching the trio already in the vehicles. — Yah kitten, come, it’s on me today. — The girl said, seeing how he looked at her for a second and shook his head after that.

— I have to go to intensive classes… And so you do. — He remembered, the girl pouted, yes, he was right, but the way he looked like he was scolding her made her look at Sooho.

— Ah, stop being so closed with the people who saved you from a great beating, the girl who has a weird crush on you is inviting you to eat and you reject her. — Heejin closed her eyes and sighed hard as she heard those words come out of her friend’s mouth, wanting to put her fist in his mouth.

Getting off the motorcycle, Heejin headed to Sieun, who simply stood still as he watched her approach him, much more so when she put her helmet on his head, he could notice one more feature on the girl’s face, and it was a small scar near her lower lip, on her jaw, this one seemed to be small, but perhaps the cut that had been there before had been deep so that there was a small mark.

— Aigoo, how cute. — Heejin said, touching the boy’s nose, making him a little taken aback and blinking as he looked at her in surprise, she smiled sweetly at him before taking his good hand with the same care with which she would take the injured one. — Let’s go. You can’t turn down the food that a pretty girl is treating you to.

— Much less if she likes you.

— You, shut your mouth or I’m going to throw you off the motorcycle.
