“What did I say about lying?” I whispered huskily, snaking an arm around her waist. Her body stiffened as she visibly gulped.

I know exactly what she’s doing here, but I want to hear it from her own mouth.

Flashback

“It would be nice to do business with you, Mr. Rudra,” the investor said, shaking my hand as the meeting finally ended. One by one, everyone filed out of the room.

“Stop.” My voice came out sharp, cutting through the silence as my newly appointed secretary was about to leave.

Oh no, not so soon.

We had some important matters to discuss—like why the hell she thought it was acceptable to talk to my wife that way.

She froze, turning back hesitantly. “Do you… need anything, sir?” Her voice wavered, her eyes darting everywhere but mine.

“Yes.” I leaned back coolly in my chair, folding my arms across my chest. “Just some answers.”

Confusion flickered across her face, her brows knitting as if she genuinely didn’t know what I was talking about. Or maybe she was just putting on an act, the same act I caught her playing earlier when she realized I was in the office.

“Did you know that she is my wife?” I asked bluntly. No point wasting my time. My wife was waiting for me at home—we had plans tonight. She wanted to watch the new Conjuring movie. My Isha and her insane love for horror films rivaled her obsession with cartoons—equally crazy, equally adorable.

Her face drained of color. “No, sir!” she blurted quickly, her voice trembling. “I swear I had no idea. If I knew, I would never have gone to your office. I thought she was just a normal employee. And since Rishi sir already told me you don’t like people in your personal space without permission, I was only… politely telling her not to do it again.”

She said it with such conviction that if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I might have believed her. A better actress than I gave her credit for.

“Fair enough.” I lounged back in my chair, studying her. “But did you know that I’m married?”

Her lips parted, but no words came. Ah yes, I heard that part too. She and my wife were so engrossed in their little conversation that they didn’t notice me standing there for a good ten minutes.

Her throat bobbed as she swallowed hard, her face paling further. Her fingers tightened around the stack of files and papers she was holding, knuckles whitening.

“Don’t dare lie,” I cut in coldly, my tone laced with warning. “If you do, forget about ever working again. No company will take you, let alone me.”

Her facade crumbled. “I… I knew you were married,” she admitted at last, her voice breaking with shame as she stared at the floor.

“Then what gave you the right to talk about my personal life like that, huh?” My voice dropped lower, sharper, filled with disgust. “I can’t stand people who can’t do their work honestly and resort to cheap tricks.”

I stood, each step toward her deliberate, my presence swallowing the space between us. Her breath hitched as she instinctively leaned back, clutching her papers tighter.

“Even if she were just an employee and not my wife, what the hell made you think it was your place to tell her who I like or not?” My gaze burned into her, my voice dangerously quiet. “It’s not even been a week since you joined this company. I can’t even remember your name, and you already think you have authority in my life?”

“I–I’m sorry, sir…” she stammered, tears spilling down her cheeks as she shook her head desperately.

I sighed, rubbing a hand across my jaw. I wasn’t some sadist who took pleasure in breaking someone down, especially not a woman. But boundaries needed to be respected. And if someone dared to cross them, they should be ready to face the consequences.

The door opened, and Rishi stepped inside with a stack of papers. Without a word, he placed them on my desk. I picked up the pen, signed them, and slid the papers across the table toward her.

Her trembling hands hovered before she finally grasped them. “W-what’s this?” she asked, her voice shaking.

“You’re officially removed from the company,” I said flatly.

Her eyes widened, glossy with tears.

“You’ll get your full salary for this month,” I added coldly, “but I don’t want to see you here tomorrow.”

I didn’t wait for her response. I left her standing there, trembling and broken, left alone to deal with the consequences of her own actions.

Because nobody—fucking nobody—messes with my wife’s smile.

She’s the brightest thing in my life. My sun , my moon…my whole universe. Anyone who tries to take that light away from her will pay.

She ruined Isha’s first experience of the company, and I’ll be damned if I don’t make up for it. I checked the time in my watch, there’s still time in the movie.

I think if I got late tonight and missed the movie then she herself will become Annabelle to haunt me.

She was excited for the movie conjuring…for so long and when I told her I haven’t watched any movie from that series, she made me watch all of them.

Flashback ends

I removed her cap and the mask, letting her hair fall freely. And whose idea it was even, to do such a ridiculous thing.

If I haven’t ordered the receptionist to let her in she would never be able to step foot inside let alone playing spy in my office.

“Jab sab pta hai to puchhne ka natak kyu kr rhe hain,” she grumbled, puffing out her cheeks like an irritated child. God, she’s getting cuter day by day.

I didn’t say anything, just waited patiently, giving her time. She finally sighed, shoulders slumping in defeat.

“Fine, it’s because of your secretary… or should I say your wanna-be girlfriend come wife,” she said bitterly, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
her eyes glared at me like burning coal “And why didn’t I see a single glance of her until now? Isn’t she crazy for you?” Fire blazed in her gaze, her jealousy making her look irresistibly adorable.

I bit the inside of my cheek, trying hard to suppress the smile tugging at my lips. If I laughed now, she would kill me. I had made that mistake once… only once… and never dared to repeat it.

“She’s gone,” I said calmly, pulling her gently toward the chair. placing a glass of water in front of her to calm her down.

She blinked at me in confusion, still fuming. “What do you mean gone? Like… gone to get your favourite coffee or dinner perhaps?”

I exhaled deeply, leaning back against. Isha getting angry was not something that happened often, and I preferred it that way. She could melt my anger in minutes, but me? Sometimes it took her days to soften back into her natural self.

She is  sometimes terrifying.

(Isha be like- ye dar mujhe achcha laga)

I reached for her hand and tugged her gently into my lap. She squealed, eyes widening.

“What are you doing!” she gasped, twisting to face me with narrowed eyes.

“Shouldn’t I be the one to get mad?” I said softly, brushing back strands of hair sticking to her temple from sweat. My thumb lingered against her cheek. “And why the hell are you wearing a hoodie in this weather?”

She waved a hand dismissively. “It’s the getup, forget it. You will not get it.”
As I stared at her in shock.

“Now, where’s she?” she demanded again, tone firm, her eyes locked on mine like she was ready for war.

“I told you, she’s gone… from the company.”

Isha froze, just staring at me for a moment.

“Y-you kicked her out of the company?” she asked, disbelief softening her voice.

“Yes.”

Realisation dawned on her features. “You heard everything, didn’t you?”

“I did,” I admitted, meeting her gaze steadily. “But you should have told me even if I hadn’t. We agreed to share everything so misunderstandings like before wouldn’t happen again.”

Her lashes lowered as she fiddled with my tie, twisting it between her fingers. “I didn’t want to sound like a crazy jealous wife of the boss on her first day,” she murmured.

I tilted her chin up with two fingers, forcing her to look at me. “So you’re not jealous now?” I teased with a grin.

Her eyes flashed as she jerked my hand away. “Aap ko jada mja aa rha h n aaj? Jab us ladk ne bss coffee k liye puchha tha, to bechare ko kese dra k bhaga diya tha bhool gaye?”

My jaw clenched at the memory. “Koi bechara-vechara nhi tha vo. Date k liye puchh rha tha. Tumhe to itna bhi samjh nhi ata…” I muttered the last part under my breath, but she caught it. She rose from my lap instantly, leaving me feeling empty.

“Apko to sab pta h na, fir apne use hire ku kiya, huh? Aye bade,” she retorted, arms crossing over her chest as she glared at me.

“I didn’t hire her—it was HR. And she never acted this way in front of me.”

“Maybe you just didn’t notice,” she smirked, leaning against the edge of the desk with an infuriatingly smug look.

“Yeah, because I was busy thinking about my wife. So I don’t pay attention to what some random girl is doing,” I said smoothly, standing up until our bodies were nearly pressed together.

Her breath hitched. “Ap–Ap na jada hoshiyar MTT baniye. Sab samjh rhi hu kya kr rhe hain,” she fumbled, pointing a shaky finger at me. “Baat ko ghumaiye MTT.”

“Chalo tumhe ghuma lau,” I murmured in a low voice, catching her finger gently between mine. Her eyes widened in shock and frustration.

“Btao kha chalogi?” I asked, voice teasing. Her expression shifted from fiery anger to a soft blush, though she still tried to fight it.

“Main ghar jaa rhi hu. Par agar dobara mujhe koi aisi ladki dikhi na, to m apko swarg pohancha dungi,” she threatened, shoving at my chest. I let myself fall back onto the chair with a laugh.

She really believed any other girl could hold command over me the way she did. But the truth was simple.

She held all the power. She didn’t even know the depths of it.

6 months later

Isha

My feet felt frozen to the ground, my heart thudding to a stop as I stared at the two pink lines.

I’m pregnant.

God, I’m really pregnant. We’re having a baby.

For the last few days, I’d been feeling nauseous, and I couldn’t even remember when my last period was. Just to ease my mind, I took the test—but I never expected it to come out positive. Maybe I forgot to take the shots last month during my final exams.

Excitement bubbled inside me as a smile crept onto my face at the thought of raising our baby with Rudra.

He always teases me saying I’m like a baby. I can’t take care of myself. I’m always doing something. But now he will finally understand what taking care of a child really means.

I’m gonna have so much fun seeing him running around the house behind our baby.

Will he—or she—have his eyes or mine?

And the height? What if the baby turns out like Rudra? Can someone that tall even fit in my tiny stomach? I thought, glancing down at my flat tummy. I don’t know how far along I am, but there’s nothing visible yet.

After thinking for hours, I finally decided that I’d tell Rudra first. Then we’d go together to the hospital for our first ultrasound.

I couldn’t wait to see his reaction. Grinning, I picked up my phone and texted him.

Me: Can you come home a little early?

Within a minute, the message was seen.

Rudra: Why? Is anything wrong? Are you hurt?

I shook my head at my overprotective husband. Why does he always assume I’m hurt? Well… one time I did call him from the office after I slipped in the bathroom and fractured my leg. But that doesn’t happen every day. He really needs to chill.

Me: No, I’m all right. I was just saying.

I couldn’t ruin the surprise by being overly excited. I wanted to see his raw reaction when I told him.

Rudra: Okay, I’ll try. Do you want to go out somewhere?

Technically, we do need to go to the hospital.

Me: Yes.

After that, no reply came. Maybe he got busy with work. I set my phone aside and lay on the bed.

When he first told me that teaching felt like a holiday compared to working in the company, I had laughed it off. But now… it didn’t seem so funny. He’s always busy.

After some time, the doorbell rang. My heart skipped—Its him.

Excitedly, I rushed down the stairs and opened the gate.

“I knew you would—” My smile died instantly.

It wasn’t Rudra. It was Rishi, standing there with a guilty look on his face.

“Where’s Rudra?” My voice came out sharp, rude even. Maybe I was already hormonal, but right then, I felt like murdering him. I had been waiting the whole day for my husband.

“Sir is busy in an important meeting. He might be late tonight, so he told me to accompany you… wherever you want to go,” Rishi explained.

I had nothing against this man, really. But right now, I wanted my husband, not his damn assistant.

“He did?” I asked with a sweet smile that was anything but sweet. Rishi seemed to notice, because he coughed awkwardly.

“Uhmm… yes. Are you ready? Or should I wait in the car?” he asked politely.

There was no point in taking my anger out on him—he was just following his boss’s orders.

“No, let’s go,” I muttered, walking straight toward the car.
