“Where are we going?” Rishi asked while I just sat beside him wondering what was so important that my husband sent his damn assistant when I specifically asked him to come home soon.

Of all the days he chose today to not show his infamous jealousy while I spent alone time with some other man. I sighed, never thought I would miss his super jealous side but here we are.

Wait a minute! A sudden thought came into my mind as I looked at Rishi….is he gay…. maybe that’s why Rudra sent trusted him.

Rishi shifted uncomfortably when our eyes met. He cleared his throat. “Uh… ma’am, why are you looking at me like that?”

I quickly looked back at the road ahead, cheeks warming. “Nothing… I just zoned out,” I lied smoothly. Even if he was, it wasn’t my place to ask bluntly. That would be rude.

“Let’s go for shopping” it’s not like I have any important thing to do right now except sharing the biggest possible good news of my life with my husband

Even after trying so many things walking in different shops i don’t feel any excitement on the other hand I was just getting frustrated with each passing moment and Rishi was following me like a shadow, constantly reminding me of the cause of my irritation.

Finally, fed up, I grabbed a few random dresses and stomped toward the billing counter. I was about to pull out my card when Rishi stopped me with a polite but firm voice.

“Ma’am, please use this,” he said, handing me another card.

I frowned. “What is this?”

“The company card. Sir told me you can use it for anything you want.”

I arched an eyebrow, taking the card between my fingers. “Anything?”

“Yes mam” Rishi nodded innocently not knowing that his boss is going to regret it.

“Then let’s go shop some more, we don’t want to dissapoint him do we?” I grinned as he looked at me in confusion, poor man i wish I could say I feel bad for him but I don’t specially not today.

First we went to the jewellery store where i might have bought some neck pieces , a diamond ring, and a beautiful bracelet.

After the transaction i waited for Rudra’s call, surely he would have received a message or call informing him. It’s not some small amount. But the call never came.

I gritted my teeth in frustration,” I want to buy some furniture” i said walking out of the store. Not bothering to care what His assistant might be thinking.

Well if he cares about work so much than I might as well use the money to show my appreciation for his work
Vese bhi itna paisa khan leke jayenge.

Even after spending so much money there was not a single call from Rudra

No call, no message, nothing.

“Rishi do you need anything?” I asked turning behind towards Rishi who was carrying the bags.

He blinked, surprised. “No, ma’am. Thank you.” His tone was polite, almost apologetic, as though he was enduring my storm without complaint.

My gaze shifted away, and that’s when I saw them—a little boy holding his mother’s hand, skipping happily, his laughter ringing out as she bent down to whisper something in his ear. His eyes shone with pure joy, her face glowing with love

I don’t know why suddenly I feel like crying and my eyes become moist,”I want to go home” I said as I walked towards the parking lot wiping my tears.

When the car finally rolled to a stop outside the house, I stepped out, exhaustion and anger simmering inside me. I turned sharply toward Rishi.

“Tell your boss,” I snapped, my voice sharp with unshed tears, “that he can sleep in his damn office. There’s no need for him to come home.” Without waiting for his response, I stormed inside, slamming the door behind me.

I don’t even know why I’m so angry or sad.

After crying for good 10 minutes I got myself exhausted and slept.

*****************

Rudra sat in the conference room, surrounded by investors in sleek suits, their voices rising and falling as numbers and figures filled the air. The weight of the deal pressing before him was immense—a merger that could shape the next decade for his company. His expression was calm, focused, yet in the back of his mind he thought of Isha.

He had sent Rishi with her earlier. She might have been bored staying home alone, and besides, he trusted Rishi more than anyone to keep her safe. The man was reliable, discreet, and loyal. But still he want to get back to his wife as soon as possible.

He knows Since he has joined the company they don’t spent as much time together as before but after this meeting he will finally get some free time to spend with Isha.

Just then, his other assistant walked in briskly, phone in hand, his face pale with hesitation. He leaned down, whispering near Rudra’s ear. “Sir, there’s a very urgent call.”

Rudra’s brows furrowed, sharp eyes narrowing. “What is it?”

“The bank, sir. They’ve detected unusual activity on your account.”

For a second, his hand froze on the table, fingers drumming against the polished wood. Then he straightened slowly, his voice low but firm. “Which account?”

“The one linked with Rishi, sir.”

Rudra exhaled through his nose. He pulled out his phone.

The phone rang only once before the line clicked. “Sir…” Rishi’s hesitant voice came through.

“What’s going on?” Rudra’s tone was calm, but steel lay beneath it.

There was a beat of silence before Rishi spoke again. “Sir, ma’am is… shopping.”

The room fell quiet for him. Investors were still talking, deals were still being laid out, but all Rudra could hear was that single word. Shopping. Isha loved it, yes. But not like this. Not in a way that set off bank alarms. His jaw tightened.

He has no idea what he has done but his wife is clearly angry at him and she’s using her iconic way to show it to him.

Rishi cleared his throat on the line, his tone nervous. “Uhmm… sir?”

Rudra’s patience snapped. “What happened? Is she fine?” His voice dropped, the concern in it startling even himself.

“Yes sir, she’s fine. I mean… on the outside she’s fine. But she looks… angry…….Very angry.”

Rudra closed his eyes for a brief second, pinching the bridge of his nose. The familiar ache of guilt settled in his chest. He didn’t need anyone to tell him why. He already had a good guess.

He just didn’t expect her reaction to be this intense. Clearly something has happened.

“Ok. I’m coming,” he said curtly, standing up from his chair and reaching for his coat, ignoring the confused looks of the investors still seated around the long table.

His other assistant stepped closer, voice cautious. “Should I tell the bank to freeze the account, sir?”

Rudra slipped one arm into his coat and shook his head with a humorless smirk. “No. Tell them it’s just my wife.”

The assistant blinked, clearly startled. “Your wife?”

“Yes,” Rudra said, buttoning his coat and heading for the door. His tone softened, though irritation and worry lingered in his eyes. “My wife… who is apparently very angry. And I have a feeling it’s because of me. Though God knows what I did this time.”

“But sir the investors….”

Rudra stopped taking a sharp breath closing his eyes in frustration. It took weeks to get this merger done, if something goes wrong in his absence not only him but everyone’s efforts who was working day and night on this project will be in vain.

He returned to his seat again discussing the deal. Even after trying his best to wrap it up quickly it took him another hour when he was finally able to leave the company.

On his way he tried many times to call her but she didn’t pick up, she didn’t even checked his msgs. Finally he dialed Rishi who picked up in a single ring.

“Where’s Isha?” Rudra asked impatiently, driving as fast as he can

“I dropped her home half an hour ago” she’s home still not picking his calls. What the hell has happened.

“Did she say anything?” Rudra asked
There was silence on the other end before Rishi finally spoke clearing his throat,”uhm…Mam said..” he hesitated

“What!!” Rudra asked impatiently.

“She said,”tell your boss that he can sleep in his damn office there’s no need to come home!”

He repeated her words and before Rudra could say anything he cut the call.

Rudra just stared at the road confused not understanding what has gotten into her suddenly. It’s not his birthday, normal thier anniversary, it’s not valentine’s day …then what else he’s missing.

He enters the house which was unusually quite. He made his way towards their bedroom and he entered the room.

“Why are you here?” Isha snapped looking up her eyes red from crying her hairs falling everywhere.

“What happened?” He asked worriedly closing the distance between them in a moment his heart aching at the sight before him as he cupped her face gently.

“I asked the question first” she replied angrily puffing her cheeks jerking his hands away leaving him dejected.

“What kind of question is that Isha, it’s my home where else I will go” he answered not being able to wrap his head around what’s going on.

She narrowed her eyes at him with a icy look like he’s some criminal standing for a trial,”ohh so you remember you have home” she mocked.

Rudra sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.

“I know you are angry because I didn’t come sooner but it was-”

“A very important meeting?” She said cutting him off,” and when there’s not an important meeting? ”

He just stood their silently cause she’s not completely wrong since the college ended and he has joined the company there’s always something going on due to which he can’t give her proper time.

“Go away” she said standing up from the bed moving past him,” it’s not like someone lives here who was waiting for you whole day”

Rudra turned and grabbing her hand pulled her against him in a swift moment,”itna gussa?” He wishperd gently trying to calm her down.

“Kon gussa hai? Huh…koi gussa nhi hai …jaiye apna kam kriye… bohot Kam hoga na abhi to” she says turning around as he looked at her helplessly.

“Baby… I’m sorry” his voice carried the guilt as he tilted her chin up to face him,”it will not happen again, i swear and Even if it’s something very important i will inform you in advance”

Her eyes brimmed with tears not being able to hold back anymore
She knows his words are sincere and she also knows that something must be really important if he didn’t come today but she couldn’t help it…the excitement of the news…she wanted him to be the first person to share this news with. She still hasn’t told anyone, not her mother, not his parents…not even her best friend even though she wanted to share the joy with them.

And when he send Rishi in his place she just snapped.

“Hey… don’t cry now please” he said wiping her tears.

“I just…” Her voice broke muffled by tears,” I just wanted to share something with you” she whispered.

“Tell me what it is but Stop crying baby” Rudra said pulling her closer

She looked into his eyes who was looking at her with a mixture of guilt, worry and so much love.

“I- I’m” she gulped. God she’s finally telling him,”I’m pregnant”

As the words left her mouth Rudra seems to froze in his place. His expression unreadable making her worried.

Rudra blinked like he’s trying to wake up from a dream,”what did you say?”

“I’m pregnant” Isha repeated her words hesitantly this time.

“I’m going to be a father?” He asked almost in awe like he can’t believe what he heard.

Isha nodded and in the next moment his face broke into a huge smile as he laughed loudly, freely before wrapping his arms around her and spinning her in joy.

“I’m going to be a father!” He says excitedly spinning her as she laughed with him.

“Are you happy?” Isha asked as he finally placed her down still no distance between them like he refused to be apart from her for even a moment.

“Happy?… it’s the second best thing in my life” he said smiling proudly

“Second?…. what’s first then?” She asked with a frown.

His grin widened, his eyes sparkling with joy,”you baby…. you will always be the best thing that happened to me” he said softly pressing a kiss on her nose which make her giggled as she wrapped him a tight hug.

************

The next day they shared the good news with their family who were equally excited for the baby.

During ultrasound when they first saw the tiny blob of flesh inside her womb. It was a feeling she can never put in words. She has always wanted children but now while she’s finally carrying him inside her it’s a completely different feeling.

She still remember the way Rudra’s eyes become moist as he stared at the screen looking at their baby. She has no doubt he will be the best father for their baby like he’s the best husband.

Soon after the news Rudra started working from home as much as he could manage. Only going to the company when it was absolutely necessary dad also helped taking away the extra load so he could spend time with me.

If it was upto him he would carry me in his arms even in the house.
“Tujhe kya Lagta hai main apni bahu ka dhyan nhi rakh skti?” Maa said in a Stern tone trying to act tough but I know she’s just teasing him. I giggled watching both mother and son fighting over who should take care of me.

“Mom,  I didn’t say that” Rudra sighed
“What I meant was , what if she slipps or just bump into something……I should carry her wherever she wants to go”

I shook my head enjoying the laddoos maa made for me. I’m not even showing that much. People can barely see that I’m pregnant and Rudra is behaving like i can’t even walk.

She just stared at him like he has lost his mind

“tu chup chap apna kaam sambhal jaa , apni bahu ka khyal m khud rakh lungi”

she said dismissing him and placing her palm against my cheek affectionately,” you can carry her around When she wants you to but before that let her live however she wants….. she’s the mother she knows what’s best”

I raised my brow smugly at him enjoying his sour expression.
We already had this discussion but he wasn’t ready to listen to me that their is no need for him to carry me around inside the house.

“Fine… pehle bhi konsa sunti thi meri…. apne or bigaad diya h ab ise” Rudra complained standing up from the table.

“Ignore him he’s just jealous of us” mom called after him as he just shook his head and left.

We shared a look before bursting into laughter,” dekha khud god main uthak ghoomne ki mna krne pr kese mooh fula kar chla gya….or mujhe keh rha hai main bigaad rhi hu” she teased looking at me.

I just wrapped my arms around her in response watching the show with a satisfying smile

We shifted with his parents five months ago and it was just best decision, even if Rudra is busy I don’t have to be alone anymore.

And she loves me too much. Whenever we have any arguments even most silly ones dad always takes my side.

******************

“Rudra what do you think? It’s a girl or boy?” I asked my fingers softly combing through his dark hair as he laid on my lap eyes closed.

“Mmm….I don’t know” he said in a sleepy voice leaning into my touch, his light beard tickling me as he turned to face me.

“Still tell me what do you want?” I asked softly as he opened his eyes

“A daughter or a son?”

“Daughter” he said with a smile without second a second thought.

“Even if she’s like me….and keep you on your toes for the rest of your life?”

“Specially then” he replied with a soft smile gently caressing the baby bump and planting a kiss.

“You keep me on my toes all the time- have I ever complained?” He asked looking at me, his eyes shining with love and like always made me forget everything else.
