I returned to class, and that lunch break felt awkward.

Varun and Vihaan were looking at me as if I had committed a crime. There was tension in the air. I could feel both of their eyes on me. What was wrong with them?

That’s why I prefer my safer side, Sidharth.

“Sid, are you okay?” I asked, noticing his shirt stained with juice.

He glared at Vihaan, who sheepishly smiled back.

“I’ll write you notes for the next lecture as an apology,” Vihaan said, patting Sid’s shoulder.

“Not just for one lecture, but for all of today’s lectures,” Sid replied, glaring back but eventually nodding.

Yash was enjoying the drama. Meanwhile, Vani shot daggers at Vihaan while he and Sid whispered together.

If looks could bury someone, Vihaan would be six feet under by now.

The bell rang, and we all returned to class.

Five days passed, and our school announced Sports Day, and the annual day celebration that turned the school into a fair or fish market.

Preparations began, with volunteers making banners. Teachers started organizing everything, from decorations to the stage setup, making sure we had what we needed.

Classrooms became busy places where students practiced their dances, songs, and skits. Some wore bright costumes while others painted backdrops and made props.

And the poor discipline committee they are handling all the chaos.

On Sports Day, we would have a basketball match against another school. These are the most exciting days of school since we get a break from studying, and teachers get busy with activities.

However, students who don’t want to participate still have to attend classes….like me.

Also the selection starts from tommorow as they are making list of performances. I never participated in annual day celebration just always excited for anchoring but in my last school teachers were too biased, so never given an actual chance that’s why I participated in debates and speech competitions.

I always wanted to participate in cultural activities but then my overthinking never let me about what people will think of me. Nevermind, back to the topic.

As for my unique species of chimpanzee, he’s been having mood swings. A terrible mood swings.

Sometimes I want to punch him, but I don’t want to hurt his handsome face. Don’t think I’m getting on another track, I just care about him as a sweet, kind neighbor.

Still, he’s been acting all grumpy toddler.

I don’t even have mood swings during my period like he is having nowadays.

One minute he’s sweet, and the next, he’s back to being a grumpy chimpanzee.

I don’t know what’s going on in his mind, but he acts like a kid throwing tantrums because he didn’t get his favorite toy.

Varun has also started joining us during our lunch break, and we have a lot of fun teasing and chatting.

Vihaan’s grumpiness kicks him in during recess.

He acts sweet with me until then, but after recess, he turns into a moody kid, making faces like an annoying child. Or to be more precise like a two year old kid.

Why am I thinking so much about his mood swings? They’re beyond my understanding. I rolled my eyes at my distracting thoughts.

I woke up late because of my brother and had to go alone as Vihaan already leave an hour early for practice.

When I arrived, all the seats were full, so I sat at the back, behind Yash and Siddharth.

I was alone at first, but soon Tanya and Vani joined me.

Vihaan came to class in the second lecture, gave me a charming smile, but then composed himself when Sid and Yash looked at him.

The boys went off to talk about something important, or so they said.

Let me tell you, these boys gossip more than girls. They have all kinds of interesting gossip, with plenty of mirch masala.

(Extra spice)

After recess, we had our chemistry lab class.

The monitors started their duty by lining everyone up, but it felt pointless since no one listened to them.

They had been forced into these roles by the teacher, and I always felt bad for them running back and forth.

I opened my bag to find my notebook and pen, I tried to find my lab coat but realised that I forgot it.

I remembered I had hung it up before going to take a bath.

“Ruhanika, you’re so careless,” I muttered under my breath.

“What happened?” Tanya asked, frowning in confusion.

Vani also looked at me. I sighed and replied, “I forgot my Lab coat.”

How can you forget your lab coat, Ruhii.
Now what will Adhya mam will think of me, beside she is Vihaan’s mom too she will definitely think of me careless girl.

“Did you check properly?” Tanya asked, and I nodded.

“The Khadus (grumpy ) Lab assistant will definitely scold me….and Adhya mam…,” I murmured, recalling how he had yelled at a boy in the last class.

“Dont worry Adhya mam is too sweet she won’t scold you but about Khadus lab assistant, ahh once he starts giving lecture he won’t stop,” tanya said.

Can I just vanish into thin air?

Vani and Tanya took out their coats and gave to me, “Take mine.”

They looked at each other giggled.

“No, you both wear it. I don’t want you to get punished,” I said, zipping my bag, preparing for punishment.

“Oh, don’t worry, I have lots of experience with punishment,” Vani said, passing me her coat.

“Thanks, but I can’t. I don’t like it when someone gets punished because of me,” I replied, sinking back into my seat.

“You’ve never been punished, right?” Tanya asked, and I nodded.

“I have a record of never getting punished except for mass punishments.”

They gasped in surprise.

“You’re such a good girl, Ruhii. I can’t imagine a day without getting into trouble and then punishment,” Vani mumbled, giggling at her own thoughts.

“Why not ask our seniors? I heard they have Lab classes too,” Tanya suggested, and my eyes lit up with hope.

“Really?” I exclaimed.

But then I sighed again.

“Now what?”, they asked in unison.

“But whom I asked?” I furrowed my eyebrows.

“Why don’t you ask Varun?” she said, and I stood up, grinning.

“Why didn’t this idea hit my brain,” i exclaimed while clapping my hands as finally my record will not break.

‘Because your mind is full of Vihaan’s thoughts,’ my subconscious mind teased me.

I made my way to Varun’s classroom, where everyone was chatting loudly since there was no teacher.

As I entered, all eyes turned to me, making me nervous.

Taking a deep breath, I scanned the whole room to found Varun. He was sitting on the last bench and looking like he had just woken up. He noticed me and made his way towards me.

And I noticed everyone in the room fell silent i felt awkward that’s why I came outside of the classroom.

“Kab se so rahe the?” I asked, and he smiled sheepishly.

(Since when have you been sleeping?)

“From the last three lectures,” he replied nonchalantly, and I widened my eyes.

“Did the teacher not notice?” I asked.

He shrugged his shoulders and replied to me, “How can she? When I put my bag in front of me, she didn’t even notice I was sitting there. On top of that, our boards are very close, so teachers won’t waste time and will just rush through the syllabus.”

“Oh, by the way, what’s the important thing that brings you here…to me?” he asked, reminding me of why I was there while a mischievous grin plastered on his face.

“Oh…yes. I wanted to ask you… actually I have a Chemistry Lab today and…” I stammered, feeling nervous.

“And you forgot the Lab coat? Am I right or am I right?” he teased, laughing.

I stomped my foot in irritation, and he continued laughing.

“Sorry….sorry i didn’t mean….but It’s hard to believe the most disciplined girl, Ms. Ruhanika Oberoi, forgot something,” he said, still laughing.

I playfully stomped his foot again, and he pretended to wince in pain while I tightly smiled at him.

“Okay, okay, it’s funny, but don’t tease me! I’m human too, and we tend to forget things sometimes,” I explained.

“Okay, meri Amma, I understand. Just wait a minute,” he said, clearly annoyed, making me giggle.

In a few seconds, he returned with his lab coat.

“Thank you, Varun. I need to go, otherwise, Pankaj sir will find another reason to scold me,” I said, starting to run downstairs.

I heard him saying, “be careful Ruhii”.

Just then, I felt someone snatch the coat from my hands.

I turned to see Vihaan making silly faces while looking at it.

“What’s wrong with you?” I yelled in frustration.

“Perfect,” he grinned, inspecting the coat.

“What?” I asked, trying to get it back.

“Wear mine. This one fits me better,” he insisted, holding out his coat.

“No, I borrowed this from Varun. Give it back” I tried to snatch it, but he held my wrists.

“Ruh, wear mine. It’s a bit tight for me, and this one is loose a bit,” he said, looking at the two coats.

“According to my information the school gave the same size coat,” I replied, crossing my arms.

He coughed, insisting, “First of all your information is wrong. And second thing, try to understand, Ruh. Just wear mine, I’ll return Varun’s coat safely, promise” and then he put on Varun’s coat.

“Sometimes, I think you’ve lost the screw of your smart yet stupid mind,” I huffed, but I wore his coat and grabbed my notebook, running downstairs to the lab.

He grinned at me while I glared at him.

He followed me, complaining about the mathematics teacher as I smiled at his jokes.

Once inside, I spotted Vani and Tanya.

Pankaj was already at the door, and I exchanged thumbs up with Vani and Tanya, who were chatting with him.

Vihaan and I sneaked into class.

I relaxed a bit until Vihaan bumped his head into mine.

“Are you walking with your eyes closed?” I said, rubbing his forehead.

“Sorry,” he said sheepishly, standing beside me.

“Don’t you want to go talk to Yash and Siddharth?” I asked, glancing at them.

Yash smirked teasingly while Siddharth looked confused. I saw Yash whispering something to Sid, and he immediately looked at us while a mischievous smile present on their faces.

Ye dono kabhi kabhi mohalle ki aurton wali vibes dete hai.

(They sometimes give off vibes like the women of the neighborhood)

They both came over, and we all gathered at the back of the lab.

Adhya ma’am began explaining the topic, and we dove into our experiments.

We were supposed to do titration to get a shade of pink. I rolled my eyes, after 20 minutes, I still hadn’t gotten the color right.

Yash slammed his beaker down. “I’m done! Main readings ratt kr aaunga, bass. I had already gotten 50 shades of pink but can’t get that one shade, like who the hell invented so many shades of pink, pink to pink hota hai na ” he huffed, tilting his head back in frustration.

(I’ll memorize the reading, that’s it)
(Isn’t pink is pink right?)

Siddharth patted his shoulder, still trying to figure it out, but poor him, nazar hati durghatna ghati, his solution turned dark violet. He sighed and then throw the solution.

(The eye is diverted, and an accident happens)

“Never mind, I’ve already memorized the readings,” Siddharth said, looking at his readings from seniors.

I glanced at Vihaan, who was still focused on his experiment.
The way he leaned down to check the readings made me gulp.

His dark brown orbs were fixed on the numbers, and he was writing with his left hand while shaking a beaker with right hand. That scene was already making me feel flustered.

He seemed completely focused on the beaker, but he smiled a little.

I realized he caught me staring at him from the corner of his eye.

The atmosphere felt intense, and in this lab filled with chemicals, it felt almost intoxicating.

I blinked and returned to my own experiment.

Vani was blissful by a shade she had created, dreaming about a lipstick color.

“I’m definitely buying a lipstick in this shade. It’s so so so so so…..gorgeous” she giggled, closing her eyes as if imagining how it would look.

I laughed and looked at Tanya, who was the only one really focused on the experiment, getting her readings first.

I smiled and returned to my work until someone approached me.

“Did you get the right color?” I tilted my head, seeing his confused pout.

He shook his head.

“How did you get these readings?” he asked, frowning in confusion.

“Oh, I just guessed them,” I said with a tight smile, shrugging.

“Let me copy yours,” he said, moving closer to write down my readings.

My breath hitched as I watched his hair fall over his forehead, giving him a messy look. I stood there, trying not to look obvious. He finished and looked at me.

I just stood there, looking around, but no one noticed me. He got up, finished his file, and glanced at me.

When our eyes met, I felt nervous. His gaze softened a bit, and I sensed emotions in his deep look.
It always made me feel anxious yet flustered.

We were lost in each other’s gaze until I heard Pankaj sir say, “I am very happy that you both are staying to help me.”

Adhya ma’am smiled at us.

I looked around and realized everyone had left.

What in the world is happening?

Vihaan looked around, then turned to me, signaling that he didn’t know either.

“Sir…?” I asked nervously.

“Now you both stayed only when I asked for volunteers to help me set up and clean test tubes, beakers, and chemicals. I’m very happy that you are so enthusiastic to help your teachers,” sir said, and we exchanged a glance.

Ahh, when did this happen?

‘When you both were busy admiring each other,’ a voice in my head said, but I shrugged it off, focusing on the scene unfolding infront me.

“Sir…” Vihaan was about to speak.

“Good. Now you both clean all the test tubes and beakers. I’ll set the chemicals, and please also arrange the practical files on the table,” he said, then started organizing the chemicals.

Meanwhile, Vihaan and I glared at each other, then went to collect the test tubes and beakers.

As we cleaned and arranged them, he whispered in an annoyed tone, “Sab tumhari wajah se hua.”

(It all happened because of you.)

“How dare you blame me?” I whispered angrily.

“See, Ruh, because of you, I got distracted and didn’t realize what was happening here,” he said while cleaning a beaker.

“Because of me? No, it was you who was looking at me like….” I started, but our eyes locked, and I stopped, feeling flustered as a mischievous smile spread across his face.

“Like…?” he whispered.

“Forget it,” I said, placing the clean test tubes down.

“You both, I’m going to take a round while you clean and put everything in a basket. Remember, those test tubes and beakers are more precious than diamonds,” he said as he walked outside the lab.

“Precious than diamonds,” Vihaan mimicked, looking at me until we both burst into laughter.

We returned to our work until I heard some voices.

I noticed the window was open, so I walked over to see the ground, since our lab was on the ground floor. I saw Varun and his classmates playing. They looked really good while playing.

“I didn’t realize our seniors were that good-looking,” I said, gazing at them, until Vihaan came over and slammed the window shut.

“What the hell? I was watching the match,” I exclaimed in anger.

He shrugged.

“The dust is coming in from the window. I have an allergy to dust,” he said nonchalantly, putting his hands in his pockets and going back to organizing.

I mimicked his tone, and he shot me a glare. I pretended to be innocent and started arranging files.

I returned to help Vihaan.

“What do you like about Varun?” he asked casually.

“Varun… umm, he’s my good friend,” I replied.

“Anything else about him?” he asked, still busy with his work.

“Well, besides being a good friend, he’s good-looking, smart, and an excellent basketball player, not forget about hai football skills. And he looks so handsome when he scored a basket…..and damn….have you seen his jawline…his jawline is perfect…..and….” I rambled on until I heard a loud thud.

Vihaan slammed the beaker onto the table, thankfully without breaking it.

I looked into his eyes, feeling a shiver run down my spine. His gaze held anger, irritation, and something else.

He moved toward me, and I instinctively stepped back. His steady footsteps echoed in the lab.

My heart raced as he approached. I backed up until I bumped against the table the files which I had kept all fallen down from the table. He then moved closer, trapping me by placing his hand on the table beside me.

I gulped hard, my heartbeat fastened sending a jittery feeling just by the intensity of his gaze.

He leaned closer to me, the warmth of his breath brushing against my ear.

He whispered huskily, “My name is the only one that should taste sweet on your tongue. Other guys? Not allowed.”

I feel something in my heart, it was beating fast i know he can also hear it.

We stayed in that position for a moment, and I was trying to process everything.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps, and I quickly pushed him away, hiding my face as I felt myself getting flustered.

But then he pulled me towards him and smirked “Waise Ruh, tomorrow I have a practice match you should definitely come and watch the delightful view”, and move back to his place as Pankaj sir entered the lab.

I quickly arranged the beakers and said, “Sir, I’ve finished my work. I’m going back to my class.”

Without waiting for a response, I ran out of the lab and headed straight to the washroom.

What on earth is happening in the lab?

I looked in the mirror and saw my cheeks were bright pink, I was feeling really hot.

Is the temperature rising?

No lie, I am seriously not lying he was looking freaking incredibly hot.

I splashed water on my face to cool down.

“Calm down, Ruhii. Everything is fine,” I muttered myself, but I couldn’t help but smile like a fool.

I giggled, but then I composed myself as a girl entered the washroom.

But soon I realised what I was doing. I tried to shake off my thoughts about him, reminding myself that thinking about him would drive me crazy.

I noticed I was wearing his coat. I touched it, then gently took it off and put it back.

Huff.

I took a deep breath and headed back to class.

I tried to ignore his gaze, but my eyes betrayed me and longed for his gaze.

When I caught him looking at me with a smirk, I rolled my eyes and didn’t give his coat back. I sat down in my seat, which was behind him, and whispered, “I’ll give it back after washing it.”

He tilted his head and smiled, “you don’t need to….”

“I’ll give you na? Now look at the front and focus on your study?”

I sat down and glanced at Tanya and Vani, who were giving me curious looks.

“Were you and Vihaan really eager to help Pankaj Sir?” Vani asked, crossing her arms.

“Yeah, we called you, but you seemed lost in someone,” Tanya giggled.

“Umm, so something is going on?” Vani raised her eyebrows.

I gulped and replied, “Nothing,” then buried myself in my book.

I still felt butterflies in my stomach as I closed my eyes, trying to understand these new feelings.

So how was the chapter?πŸ˜‰
Tell me your favourite scene.

Ahh never ever in my life i thought I would be romanticising chemistry labπŸ₯ΉπŸ€ŒπŸ» I was little hesitant to write that scene but then we are talking about Vihaan The Hottest Raichand.🫣

DISCLAIMER- That chemistry lab scene was totally FICTIONAL, kripya krke isko asal zindagi me try na krna aur Lab me tameez ke saath rehna, remember this is FICTIONAL STORY.
Shukriya! (Mera aap logo ko remind krana zaroori tha)

And the titration was my biggest enemy, I never got the right pink shade everπŸ™‚πŸ€ŒπŸ»(at the end me readings hi ratt kr gyi thi, not only in this but in evey subject πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ»)
