One time they both went out for grocery shopping for the month. The summer sun shone gently through the scattered clouds, and a cool breeze brushed against Jimin’s cheeks as he walked beside Jungkook’s wheelchair. They were laughing, bickering sweetly over what brand of cereal to buy.

“I still don’t understand your obsession with choco rings,” Jimin teased, tugging on Jungkook’s sleeve playfully.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “And I still don’t understand how someone hates chocolate. Who even are you?”

Jimin giggled, eyes crinkling in that way that still made Jungkook’s heart skip. “Alright, you win. One box of choco rings.”

They were just about to step in the store, bags in hand when Jimin suddenly gasped.

“Ah-my wallet. I left it in the car, You stay here and enjoy your victory cereal,” Jimin chuckled, leaning down to peck Jungkook’s forehead. “Let me get my wallet and Don’t move.”

“Yes, sir,” Jungkook said, grinning as he watched him jog off.

Jungkook hummed softly to himself, adjusting the bags in his lap, eyes drifting over the bustling street and the distant sound of horns.

Then-

BOOM!

A thunderous blast ripped through the air, shaking the ground beneath him.

People screamed. Pigeons scattered. Dust and fire erupted from the parking lot.

Jungkook’s head snapped toward the explosion-his eyes wide, mouth instantly dry.

And there it was-

The car. Their car. Engulfed in flames. Torn apart. Metal twisted and blackened.

“JIMIN!”

Jungkook’s scream echoed through the street as people ran in every direction. The parking lot was filled with black smoke and fire roaring from the car-their car. The very one Jimin had just walked toward.

Jungkook’s breaths came out in broken gasps, panic suffocating him.

“Please!” he begged, voice cracking as he struggled to move forward in his wheelchair. “That’s my husband! Please let me through-someone help him!”

But no one listened.

Everyone was frozen-gathering in a wide circle, some pulling out phones to record, others too afraid to go near the blaze.

Jungkook’s voice grew more and more hoarse as he shouted at the people in front of him.

“MOVE! Please, just MOVE! He’s in there! My Jimin is in that car!”

He slammed his fists against his wheels in frustration, tears pouring down his cheeks.

“I need to get to him-I have to-“

Jungkook looked down at his legs, trembling.

“Come on,” he whispered through gritted teeth, both hands now gripping the handles of his wheelchair. “Come on… please…”

He pressed his hands to the armrests and tried to push himself up.

His muscles burned.

Nothing.

Again.

He clenched his teeth, crying, face twisted in desperation. “Please, I have to save him… I can’t lose him-not like this…”

Then-

A spark. A tingle. A flicker of sensation.

Jungkook gasped.

His right thigh twitched.

His calf burned.

He could feel it.

“W-What…?” he choked out, breath caught.

Another twitch. A pulse of strength.

With a grunt and wild desperation in his eyes, Jungkook shoved himself upward-

-and stood.

He stood.

His legs shook under him like jelly, but they held. For the first time in weeks-they held.

People gasped as he stumbled forward out of the chair.

But Jungkook didn’t care. He didn’t stop to process it. All he saw was fire. And all he could hear was Jimin’s name echoing in his head.

He ran-legs trembling, heart thundering, breath ragged-as he pushed through the stunned crowd. The smoke stung his eyes, but he didn’t stop.

“JIMIN!!!”

The firemen had nearly extinguished the flames. The car now stood charred and destroyed-its windows shattered, doors bent, metal twisted beyond recognition.

Jungkook reached it, falling to his knees beside the burnt driver’s side.

His hands, still shaking, reached out to the scorched metal, banging against it, voice broken and raw.

“You promised you’d come back- You said you’d be right back, Jimin! Where are you?!”

He hit the car again.

“Jimin, please… say something. Please-don’t do this to me-!”

His body folded forward, forehead resting on the burning frame, tears dripping onto blackened metal.

“I love you, come back to me… please come back to me…”
