They shared a soft dinner under the golden-pink sky-warm soup in thermos mugs, cut fruit, and tiny heart-shaped sandwiches Jimin made himself.

“I can’t believe you cut the bread into hearts.”

“I wanted to be extra.”

Jungkook laughed. “You’re crazy.”

“I’m in love. It’s worse.”

Jungkook reached across the table, took Jimin’s hand, and kissed his knuckles.

“You’re unreal, Jeon Jimin.”

“I better be. You deserve unreal.”

The sun set, and the sky deepened into velvet. Stars slowly blinked into existence.

Jimin helped Jungkook get onto a large floor mattress lined with blankets, both of them lying side by side.

Jimin guided his hand to the telescope. “Look there. Jupiter.”

Jungkook squinted. “Holy crap… it’s huge.”

“Like my love for you.”

“Oh my God,” Jungkook groaned. “Stop being cute. It’s unbearable.”

“Nope,” Jimin whispered, curling against his side. “You’re stuck with me.”

They lay together, soft music playing from a speaker, the fire crackling beside them.

Jungkook turned his head to Jimin. “You make all of this-this new version of life-feel okay.”

Jimin smiled, his eyes wet. “You make me feel brave.”

Jungkook gently brushed Jimin’s cheek with his knuckles. “This… this right here, I never want to lose.”

“You won’t,” Jimin whispered. “Even if the stars fade.”

They kissed slowly, under a galaxy of stars, their fingers laced together-like the roots of trees, unshakeable and alive.

___

It had been a month since their magical date in the woods. Since then, Jungkook’s strength had returned slowly. His arms grew stronger from the wheelchair, his spirit even more so from Jimin’s constant, unshakable love.

But something tugged at him every day-a need to give back. To show Jimin what he meant.

So quietly, secretly, Jungkook planned.

He worked with his therapist to make sure he could move around just enough. With their help, and a few close friends sworn to silence, Jungkook transformed their apartment in a single afternoon.

He removed the coffee table and filled the living room floor with soft cushions and blankets. Warm fairy lights were strung across the ceiling and around the window frames, glowing like fireflies. The dining table was set for two, with candles in glass jars, soft white petals scattered between plates, and a tiny hand-written menu on a napkin:

“Welcome to: Jimin’s Night.”
-Starter: Baby pancakes with strawberries
-Main: Chicken kimbap (yes, I made this)
-Dessert: You’ll see 😉

When Jimin walked through the door that evening, bags in hand and hair slightly tousled from the wind, he froze.

“…What is this?”

Jungkook sat at the dining table, wearing a button-up shirt and the softest smile. “Surprise.”

Jimin’s eyes immediately welled with tears. “What… did you do?”

“I made us dinner. I decorated. I wanted to give you a night you’d never forget.”

Jimin slowly stepped in, mouth parted, taking it all in-the flickering lights, the gentle music, the faint smell of grilled chicken, the warmth.

“You did all this… alone?”

“With a few helping hands,” Jungkook admitted, wheeling himself forward to take Jimin’s bag off his shoulder. “But the heart of it? All mine.”

They sat down and Jimin immediately grabbed his hand.

“Jeon Jungkook,” he whispered, “you’re going to make me cry in every room we have.”

“That’s the plan,” Jungkook teased. “But let’s eat before the food gets cold.”

They laughed, fed each other, giggled at Jungkook’s very uneven kimbap rolls, and whispered between bites.

Jimin kept looking around. “I can’t believe this is our apartment. It feels like a dream.”

“You’ve been taking care of me every single day,” Jungkook said, cupping his cheek. “Tonight, I wanted to take care of you. Remind you that you’re loved more than anything.”

Jimin leaned in and kissed him across the table.

“You do remind me. Every time you look at me like that.”

After dinner, Jungkook asked Jimin to close his eyes.

“No peeking,” he warned.

Jimin covered his eyes obediently, legs tucked beneath him.

Jungkook brought over a small wooden box and set it on Jimin’s lap.

“Okay. Open.”

Jimin lifted the lid-and gasped.

Inside was a delicate silver bracelet. On the inside was engraved:

“My light, my wings. -JK”

Jimin looked up, hands shaking.

“You’re the reason I fly again,” Jungkook said softly. “Even if my legs don’t work… my heart soars every time you smile.”

Jimin threw his arms around him, burying his face in his neck.

“I love you,” he whispered. “You have no idea how much.”

Jungkook held him close. “I think I do.”
