Tony Padilla stood at the same park as Chad Beaumont, Chad was confused on why Tony even approached him but like always he had his theory.

According to Justin Foley, Jessica Davies and Alex’s conversation, Tony somehow knew about the tapes.

He hoped he was wrong as he was crying tears of pity for the girl and what she had been through, especially during his tape.

“May I sit?” The short student asked while Chad wiped away some leftover tears as he nodded, not finding words or maybe not giving it a try. “I know we don’t know each other, that much but I was driving by and noticed you were – crying -” Tony spoke but was quickly interrupted by Chad.

“I wasn’t crying. Something got into my eyes, you know the pollen and stuff.” Chad spoke looking into the green endless grass after sniffing, feeling a drip fall from his nose.

“Well, thats a – typical line, isn’t it?” Tony spoke with a laughing tone dripping in his voice.

Even Chad chuckled for a bit.

“Well, sometimes it actually happens.” Chad spoke finally making eye contact with the hazel eyed boy, taking notice of every flaw on the boy’s face which were not many.

He quickly looked away in a type of embarrassment.

“It does, but it didn’t to you.” Tony spoke still looking at the boy who he thought that personally was very mysterious, in a weirdly good way. “I know – what you’re listening to.”

Tony said, catching Chad’s attention who looked again at his hazel eyes, his crystal eyes demanding the short student to continue.

“She was my friend too.” Tony said, this time he was the one to look away, his eyes moving to his own hands while playing with his ring that was around his middle finger.

“I’m sorry.” Chad spoke, trying to give a sort of consolation to the tanned boy. “She seemed like a very kind person.”

“According to the tapes, you knew exactly how kind she was.” Tony said, this time his eyes wandered to the same  place as Chad’s eyes were fixated on. “Do you want to tell me how or what made you turn off instantly?”

Chad thought about the question the boy had just asked him, the boy with the shiny hair went back to his memory, his very vivid and regretful memory.

Chad walked to school, the sun already peaking out from the clouds, spreading heat all over Chad’s body.

He jumped up the steps to the entrance and walked inside, an unusual smile was creeped on Chad’s face.

He recognised the voice of his best friend Justin Foley who seemed to be in a heated conversation with Chad’s senior friends Bryce Walker.

“Sup.” Chad spoke, leaning against the locker next to the two boys, catching them off guard.

“Beaumont, had fun with your new girlfriend? Apparently she goes to innocent looking boys.” Bryce spoke with a dreadful smirk on his face.

“No- were really just friends.” Chad spoke slightly trembling, afraid for the sake of his reputations.

“Well, you know her reputation around school. Don’t you?” Justin asked closing his locker.

“Of course I do but she deserves to have friends, she’s a good person.” Chad said before starting to walk to class along with the two.

“She’s a disease.” Justin Foley spoke, causing turbulence in Chad’s mind.

“You would think differently if you actually got to know her. Maybe you should get to know her, Justin.” Chad spoke before leaving the two boys to their own thoughts.

That was only one of the times where the boys came to him, telling him how bad it was that he hanged out with her, this kept repeating itself where Chad kept ignoring it, until one day.

Chad stood with his locker wide open, putting the books he did not need inside before laughter and jokes coming from down the hall, Chad as well as some other students peaked to see what was all the commotion about.

Justin, Zach, Bryce and Alex all stood in a line, all looking at their phones but Alex.

Bryce’s teary eyes (from laughing too hard) landed  on Chad’s crystal ones before elbowing Justin on the ribs to get his attention.

Chad saw in Justin’s eyes that something was wrong.

“Chad Beaumont finally getting some action?” Zach Dempsey spoke hitting Chad in his back making Chad feel some kind of pain but he was taught to be used to it and to toughen up.

“What do you mean?” Chad asked with a joke tone yet curious tone dripping from his voice as his eyes wondered around every person on this circle.

Alex seemed to be extremely uncomfortable for some reason.

Justin had an unreadable expression as always, that boy was a big question mark since he had a good poker face.

Zach and Bryce just kept laughing at something on their phone.

“Apparently your ‘friend’ Hannah Baker exposed your – sexual activities on her social media.” Bryce said, showing me a post from Hannah Baker on Twitter.

‘Chad Beaumont is very very good 😋😏

Posted 5 mins ago.

Chad looked at the circle of boys, a drop of sadness hit Chad Beaumont in that moment, but he also felt extremely angry.

Chad trusted Hannah, it was hard to believe she had done that when nothing really happened but there was proof.

Chad pushed through the circle, not letting them notice any emotion and walked straight to the bathroom, locking himself inside one of the stalls.

He heard someone come inside the bathroom but instantly leave.

Where he stood for the whole of first period.

Chad finally decided to come out of the bathroom stall, after the leaving bell after first period.

He washed away any potential tears left on his cheeks.

He walked out of the bathroom, trying to avoid everyone, wanting to get to his next class which was History.

It was not a hard thing since the corridors only had a few students, but he knew it would be packed in a minute.

One of the people in the corridors was Justin Foley who was in his locker getting his history book.

“Hey, Beaumont!” Chad heard the voice of the person he least wanted to talk to right now.

Justin looked up, looking behind Chad before his eyes dropped on Chad, slightly glaring.

Chad looked back and saw Hannah Baker, who still had a smile on her face as if nothing had happened.

“Yes?” Chad asked in a sweet tone before stealing glances with his best friend who was still throwing daggers and Chad knew exactly what he wanted him to do.

“What’s up. You seem off today, I didn’t see you in first period today. You okay?” Hannah asked in a soothing voice which brought confusion to Chad’s head.

‘How could she be acting like nothing happened?’

“Nothing.” Chad spoke shaking his head along with the words.

Tension and pressure grew louder as Chad felt Justin’s eyes on his every move and every word.

“I have to get to class.”

“Okay, well see you soon?” Hannah asked the boy who felt  his heart beat so fast that he thought it could rip out of his body at any second.

Words couldn’t find their way out of the boy’s mouth so he just gave a silent nod before walking off.

Days later, Chad acted as if Hannah didn’t exist, it was better then calling her ugly names or shaking her off in the most horrible way.

Yet, his friends kept pressuring him to tell her off, telling him that everybody was going to think bad things because of her and that worried Chad.

What would they think of him?

Chad sat down in the Library, while Clay and Jeff studied right next to him.

Chad took a book out of his brown bag and started to read and study, copying down every word and reading the word to himself, this was the most sufficient way of getting things to his head.

He felt a chair on the same table as him be drawn back and then sat on.

Chad looked up to see the girl with wavy brown hair falling down her shoulders.

She was a beautiful girl, he admitted it.

He still couldn’t believe why she had done what she did.

“Why did you do it?” Chad asked looking straight at Hannah, thinking that it was the most simple question, yet contusion spread into Hannah’s head.
