Nico stared at the ceiling.
He was incredibly bored.
He thought that Apollo kids were supposed to smile all the time, and be happy about everything.
But, apparently, he guessed incorrectly.
The younger girl just sat in a chair, listening to music and looking annoyed at everything.
Nico would catch her eye, and she would scowl as though he had offended her.
He decided to be annoying, as he hadn’t done that for a while.
“Rachel,” he said to the daughter of Apollo, “are you going to sit there, or get me some food?”
She shot a bored look at Nico before replacing it with a forced grin.
“Sure,” she said as she pulled her headphones out, “what do you want to eat?”
“Food, duh.”
“Nico, this isn’t like you. Please go back to your ordinary personality.”
Nico raised his eyebrow. “I think someone woke up on the wrong side of bed today.”
“Shut up. That’s something Will would say.”
“Shut up? I am the ghost king-“
“Save it. What do you want to eat?”
“Just get me a sandwich,” Nico sighed in defeat.
Rachel nodded and left.
Why was she so… pessimistic? He knew he was being a hypocrite by thinking that, but… why?
He shook his head. That was a problem for another day.
Now, instead of moping around, he could actually think about what happened in the past few hours.
Will was crying over him.
Why?
It wasn’t like Will had a crush on the son of Hades. He was definitely straight.
But, Nico hadn’t seen or ears of any girlfriends.
In fact, he didn’t really know what guys were supposed to talk about together. All that time away from camp had its disadvantages.
Such as:
No friends apart from the people on the Argo II.
And, then again, Nico found Leo incredibly annoying.
He couldn’t really find faults in the others, as Hazel was his sister, Frank was his sister’s boyfriend, Percy was, well… Percy, Annabeth was kind to him after telling her and Percy about his crush, Piper was really kid for a child of Aphrodite and Jason was just his friend anyway, really.
That was six people.
Six friends.
He had to get more.
He looked up as he heard the door slam.
“That was quick,” he noted.
“I know lots of people,” the younger girl shrugged. “Most of them work in the kitchen.”
She laid the plate on his side table. It was ham.
“Butter?” Nico asked.
“I wasn’t sure if you liked it, so I brought a bit on the side and a knife.”
“Thanks.”
There was a silence. Nico then began to eat, as he had nothing better to do.
“Rachel,” he said with his mouth full of sandwich, “how many friends do you think I have?”
A perfect question. Then she wouldn’t be suspicious about what he was thinking about earlier.
Her look said: ‘I know what you’ve been thinking.’
“Well, you have the people who were on the Argo II, that’s seven so far, then you have Reyna…”
How could he forget Reyna?!
“You also have Lou Ellen and Cecil, I heard that they’re fond of you, and, of course, Will.”
She smiled to herself at the last bit, as though enjoying an inside joke.
“Huh. I never thought of it that way.” He said.
“Like Will said, a lot of people wouldn’t mind being your friend. You’re pretty cool.”
She shrugged. She then reached for her headphones.
Nico looked at his plate. The sandwich was gone. He turned over an decided to sleep.

The chapters are just getting smaller, and I apologise for that. School’s restarted, and I’ve needed more time for homework.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
