(Nico’s p.o.v)

Nico paced around his cabin, stopping occasionally to kick a wall. The dark room did nothing to improve his spirits, and his only sister was back at her own camp.

Thunk.

He kicked the wall again. Why couldn’t Will listen to him for one second? He only wanted to see if Leo was still alive. Just a short trip to McDonalds, and it would all be over.

As soon as Nico thought of the fast food restaurant, his stomach grumbled unhappily. Nico scowled deeply. He guessed this was one of the reasons he wasn’t allowed to summon ghosts.

He would be drained of his energy immensely, then his appetite would increase. The only problem was, he refused to eat any more than a meal a day. This was probably why Will was so frustrated with him.

Will. Will Solace. Head healer of camp half blood. Oldest in the Apollo cabin. Good at archery, at playing the guitar. But he was best at healing. That’s why Nico was stuck with him.

According to Will, Nico was a ‘special case’. That meant that Nico was seen as weak. Or, it seemed like it.

It had been like Nico was made out of china, the way that the other Apollo kids had been stepping around him. But with Will? Completely different.

Thunk.

As soon as he thought about that, he needed to kick the wall. Will would be stubborn and stuck-up with Nico, like he was performing in some fake confidence act.

But Nico had seen right through that. He had seen Will- not spied on, seen- hanging around with his friends, and he didn’t act like that around them.

The thing was, Will had said that they were friends, and ended up treating his ‘special patient’ differently. It made Nico mad.

Thunk.

Nico’s pacing sped up. He was fed up of the act. Will was probably just scared of him, trying to pretend he wasn’t by acting confident.

Thunk.

Nico growled. He started to feel jealous of all of Will’s other friends, a.k.a all of camp.

More envy pumped up his veins as he remembered Drew and a few other Aphrodite girls flirt with the healer.

Thunk.

Why was he jealous of those girls? They had made Will blush and stutter, and Nico didn’t have a crush on the older boy. At least, he didn’t want to.

Thunk.

Nico let out a frustrated yowl. He shouldn’t be falling for someone else who was unable to reach. He didn’t even know Will’s sexuality, for the gods’ sakes! Why would he suddenly be gay for Nico?

THUNK.

Nico had reached the end of his tether. He was angry at himself for having another crush, angry at Will for being so stubborn, angry at those girls who flirted with Will, and angry at the whole stupid camp for being better friends with Will than he was.

Smash.

There went the lamp.

Bang.

There went the spare bed.

Crunch.

Oh, crap, he just stepped on glass. Will was going to go crazy. He shook his head and gathered up the shattered vase. He dumped it into the bin.

Luckily, he was wearing thick boots. Apart from a few deeply imbedded prices of glass, they were fine. He shoved the spare bed back against the wall. He put the lamp back on its stand.

Nico stood wordlessly in his room. He desperately needed to get away from camp, but he was confined to his cabin.

By Will.

Of course, everything had to lead up to Will. Just like when Nico had fallen for Percy. And Nico had fallen hard. He hoped it wouldn’t be the same with Will.

The son of Hades heard a loud rapping on his door. He spun around. He yanked open the door, about to yell a: ‘go away!‘ at them, but he decided better than to do that as he saw who exactly it was.

Nico’s face flushed almost immediately and his heart rate went faster than usual.

“I thought you were done with my checkup, Solace.”

Oh, great way to make him your friend, Nico thought. I’m sure he’ll really appreciate you snapping at him.

“Well… the thing is… I forgot to measure you heart rate,” he said sheepishly. He tried for a grin, but failed.

Me snapping at him must have been too much, Nico thought.

“Oh, sorry,” Nico said awkwardly. His words sounded hollow.

“It was me who forgot, Nico.”

“Oh. No, I meant sorry for snapping at you.”

The atmosphere could have been cut with a blunt knife. Nico shuffled backwards to let the son of Apollo into his cabin.

Will nodded his thanks and walked over to Nico’s bed. He took out his stethoscope and beckoned Nico over.

Nico was practically sweating by now. What would Will say? Would he make a joke about love sickness or something?

The healer placed the end of the stethoscope over Nico’s heart. The younger boy was trying to keep his heart from bursting out of his rib cage, and feeling as though he was failing miserably.

“Nico, your heart rate’s unusually fast,” Will stated. “Do you have a fever or something?”

Nico shook his head, whereas Will just shrugged.

“Hmm. Strange,” he said. He then removed the stethoscope and started to walk out the door when he suddenly stopped. “I forgot to ask- are you doing anything tomorrow?”

Nico shook his head again.

Will smiled, something that made Nico blush wildly. “Well, if you’d like, Cecil, Lou Ellen and I are meeting up. They wanted to tell you that you were invited.”

“M-me? Why?”

“Really?” Will said. “You’re our friend, dummy. We don’t leave friends out.”

And with that, he grinned and closed the door. Nico felt light-headed.

It wasn’t a date. There were other people there.

But Nico felt slightly touched.

Hey guys! What’s up?

Nothing? Okay.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what Nico and the others can get up to? If you do, make sure to comment!
