Song of the Chapter: I wanna have your babies by Natasha Beddingfield
—————————————————–
“It’s my job as your husband to always make you happy.”
“Vinny!” Allister yelled from the kitchen. “Can please take Alvin with you? I can’t really do any work with me carrying him around.” He said while cradling the cutest baby boy he ever held in his arms.
Vincent sighed but still followed Allister. “He said, leaving his paints and canvass. He wiped his hands on the towelette beside his table and removed the paint-stained apron, placing it on the hook.
As Vincent entered the kitchen, a big smile formed on his lips. He cooed while walking to Allister and Alvin. Alvin tried to pull away from Allister and stretched his arms to his dad. Vincent gladly took him from Allister and Alvin laughed gleefully.
“I think he likes you more than me.” Alli said, with a bit of bitterness in his tone but still smiled at the sight of Alvin’s smile.
Vincent looked at Alvin then back at Alli. “That’s okay, maybe the next one will like you more.” He smiled.
Alli stared at him with wide eyes. “Not that soon Vinny.” Even though he wanted to, he was thinking of their financial status. With the increase in the prices of their daily needs and the never ending growth rate of the tuition fees nowadays, he thought that it would be better if they just take it one step at a time.
Vincent planted a kiss on his husband’s lips. “I think my trust fund can handle that.”
He shook his head but still smiled and blushed at what Vincent did.
“You know, I still can’t believe was cool with us being together and with having an adopted child after what I did during that wedding.” Alli shook his head again, now in disbelief, and still smiled.
“Me too.” He smiled as well. “Guess he does know when to give up and accept his defeat.”
“Guess so.” Alli pondered on what happened in the past year as he continued his work.
With the silence slow creeping in the room, Vincent opened again his liking to have another baby. “You know I’m serious about adopting another baby.” He opened as he rocked Alvin lightly in his arms.
“And you know as well that we can’t keep on depending on you trust fund, no matter how your parents, especially your dad, love Alvin.” Allister reminded Vincent, keeping his focus on the batter he was making.
“We’re not going to depend our lives on it, it’s for Alvin and Alice.” He said with a wide grin on his lips.
Allister raised a brow. “So you are serious with adopting another baby.” He said with the thought of it being a joke, but he was proven wrong. Vincent was serious. And with what they’ve been through, he knows very well that Vincent gets what Vincent wants.
It is somehow a little thing rich kids have in their genes, Allister thought to himself.
Vincent walked to the high chair and placed Alvin there as he prepared Alvin’s food. “Of course I am. Besides, you have your partnership with Brandon in his coffee shop and I have this art exhibit coming up next month.” He said as he scooped a pea-sized piece of baby food from the small jar of freshly mushed carrots and fed Alvin. “That would at least keep us alive for the rest of the year.”
Allister’s stand on the matter was slowly faltering away, still he tries to fend off the idea of having a new baby. “Vinny.” He stopped his baking and rested on his right arm on the kitchen counter, facing his husband. “How about next year? Or the year after that? Raising a child isn’t that easy. We still have to pay for their schooling, their stuff, and their other needs. That’s…”
He was cut off by Vincent’s finger on his lips. “For me to figure out, not for you to stress about.” He filled up the words for Allister and smiled while doing so. “I know about all that. That’s why I already arranged for Alvin to have his own trust fund.”
“A trust fund for Alvin?” Where did you get the…” He paused where Vincent got the money. “Don’t tell me…”
Vincent nodded, smiling proudly. “I told you not to worry about a thing.
Still surprised, Allister just accepted the situation. “I think there is no more changing your mind.” He sighed and smiled despite the failed attempt of changing Vincent’s mind. “But are you sure that this deal with your dad has nothing in exchange?” He asked going back to his work.
Vincent hummed before answering. “Well there is one.” Then he smirked. Allister can’t help but to raise another questioning brow. “He just wants Alvin to be at their house every weekend.”
With his surprise not fading away despite the revelation after revelation, Allister still questioned his father-in-law’s intentions. “Are you sure? That seemed to be very simple.”
“Hey it’s still my father we are talking about.” He said, pretending to be offended.
“Exactly.” Allister deadpanned.
Vincent chuckled.
“Kidding aside, you can’t blame me for having trust issues in him.” He explained. “He still owes me an apology for making me run around the city to find where you are going to be wed.” He pouted his lips and crossed his arms like a kid.
“He knows that.” Vincent replied.
Allister’s expression changed. “He does?” Sounding more surprised than before.
Vincent nodded.
“Wow.” Allister shook his head. “What happened to him? What made him change his mind?” Allister leaned on the counter as he thought about the changes happening.
Vincent let out a chuckle and placed a hand over his husband’s shoulder. “Maybe it was the divine intervention you’ve been praying him to have.”
“I didn’t think that would even work.” He said.
“I guess Alvin was heaven-sent.” Vincent said as he looked at Alvin happily playing with the mushed carrots.
“He is.” Allister said, as well, as he watched his little angel.
“He’s the reason why dad agreed with everything. Our wedding, us living together, letting me live the life that I want, was all because of Alvin.” His smile never faltered, rather it grew happier. “He told that if I could still find a way to let him have a grandchild, then he was okay with everything.”
Allister’s jaw dropped, if possible it would’ve dropped to the floor. “All along that is all that he wanted?!”
Vincent was so amused with his husband’s reaction that he just nodded in reply, forcibly holding his laughter for his sake.
“He should’ve told me that before! I wouldn’t have gone through that Max thing down to that dreaded wedding day!” He groaned. “If I only knew that, then I would’ve given him a dozen of grandchildren from different parts of the world.” His hands shoot out in every direction while venting off his emotions but on the inside he was so proud of himself for overcoming those things.
“If it weren’t for all those things, there might not be an us.” He calmly stated while staring endearingly at Allister. “Because you’d still be keeping all those feelings inside.” Vincent continued as he poked on Alli’s chest, teasing him.
Allister lightly slapped Vincent’s face to hide away his growing blush. “I wouldn’t have kept it if you just admitted that you were gay for me.” He joked as he tried hiding his blush.
“Maybe so…” Vincent trailed, leaning closer before kissing Allister.
He pulled away, just when Alli was fighting back. “Hey, Alvin is in the room. Let’s reserve that feistiness for later.” Vincent winked.
“Fine.” Allister deeply groaned but liked the thought of having some alone time with Vincent.
Allister went back to his baking while Vincent turned his attention back to Alvin, wo is now covered in his own food.
Minutes have passed, Allister now poured the batter in to the molds and finally placing them inside the oven to bake.
As he removed his apron, wiped his hands clean, and swiped the sweat on his forehead, he was still thinking about the thought of having another baby.
Maybe having another baby isn’t that bad, he thought to himself.
“Vinny.” He called his husband, who was busy playing with Alvin.
Vincent turned, smiling at Alli. “Yes? Have you finally thought about my proposition?” He chuckled as he carried Alvin, who was now clean of food, towards Allister.
“How’d you know that I was thinking about that?” He asked.
“I was your best friend before I became your husband, that’s why.” He stated, grinning. “It’s that or you’re probably thinking ways to seduce me.” He laughed gaining an eye roll from Alli.
“Yes, it’s about having another baby and I think Alice is a wonderful name.” He smiled and finally gave in to the idea.
“I knew you that well to know that you can’t resist me.” He confidently said while on the inside he was cheering. He knew it was like shooting the moon by asking it but still he tried.
Allister puffed a sigh. “Don’t get too cocky! Remember that I was your knight in shining armor that day and you were the one who couldn’t help but go away with me and runaway during your wedding day.” He smirked.
“Touché.” He said instead of replying with another comeback.
Allister was still thinking about how they would go about with another baby coming their way without having a financial crisis but then he thought what Vincent said and how happy it made Vincent, so he didn’t bother opening that up again.
“Thank you Allibear!” Vincent said. “You never fail to make me happy.”
“It’s my job as your husband to always make you happy.” Allister smiled.
“And it’s my job, as well, to make you happy every day. Especially our two new angels.” Vincent replied earning a peck on the lips from Alli.
“You heard that Alvin, you’re gonna be a big brother!” Allister said to Alvin while tickling his tummy.
Alvin’s laughter filled the room, which in a few months’ time will have a new baby girl to welcome.
