Chapter 6 – Hope
Ky’s POV
I couldn’t believe it. I had a date with THE Trent DeSotto. My heart was beating really fast right now from all the excitement. There was no way I was going to sleep anytime soon. I just couldn’t after all of today’s events. My dad accepted me for being gay. Trent and I were going out on a date. Everything just seemed perfect right now. I smiled my biggest smile ever. I just couldn’t believe it.
I got out of bed and made my way outside. I wanted to feel the night breeze. It’s always relaxing. I asked Talia if she wanted to come along and after getting ready we made our way to my favorite spot under the oak tree. We brought a couple of blankets for if it got too chilly.
Talia and I always did this whenever one of us wanted to get away from it all. Honestly both of us didn’t want to be were hunters. It was kind of decided for us. She wanted to open a restaurant, she was an amazing cook. As for me, I wanted to travel. I wanted to see the world. I’ve never been outside of Bellfast. A howl in the distance broke our conversation.
“The howl sounds…sad,” Talia nodded in agreement. “So what are you going to do after graduation?
“I don’t know. I want move out and be free. I want to see life outside of being a were hunter. I can’t leave my mom and dad though. It would break their hearts knowing their only daughter left.”
“Yea I don’t want to leave my dad either but I don’t want to be a were hunter the rest of my life. And with Trent…I don’t know I feel like I can do anything if I had him.”
“I’ve noticed a change in you. It’s only be a couple of days but you seem different. I mean come on, you just came out to the great Miles Ashford. He may be your father but that took a lot of balls.” I laughed at that. I guess she was right. I never thought I’d ever tell my father I was gay. I was always scared he didn’t accept me. But I just had to do it. Trent gave me the courage to do it.
A snap in the bushes made us jump to our feet into attack position. Were hunters, remember. We spook easily.
“Come out we know you’re there,” Talia shouted. Slowly a dark wolf came out of the shadow, It’s been a while since I’ve seen a wolf, mostly rougues too. But this one was different. It…it was beautiful. It had a black fur that matched my hair. It was big and strong. It’s paws were about the size of my hand. It had muscular shoulders and body. But it’s eyes…I know it. It was emerald.
“Trent?” He perked up his ears as soon as I said this. He began to wag his tail in excitement. “Trent it’s you. What are you doing here?” All of the sudden in front of me instead of a wolf, stood a man…a naked man at that. I blushed and covered my eyes. “You…you’re naked Trent!”
“Haha, darling if you’re going to cover your eyes everytime I’m naked…well we already have issues then and I haven’t even taken you out on a date yet.” He joked but he sounded sad.
“Well at least have some decency in front of a lady ass,” Talia joked and handed him one of the blankets. Thank god we brought extra.
“Are…are you decent Trent?” I still had my eyes covered. Not saying anything he grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him. I felt his body heat onto mine and his soft skin on mine. I uncovered my eyes and was now staring into the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
“You have no idea, how long I’ve wait for this moment darling. How long I’ve wanted to touch you and breathe in your scent.” I couldn’t help but let out a small whimper as he said this into my ears.
“You guys are gross,” Talia huffed. Trent let out a warning growl.
“Do not insult him,” I pressed my hands onto his face and turned him to me, calming him down.
“She didn’t mean it Trent,” I cooed softly at him. “What are you doing here?” He tensed up. Something must have happened.
“I…I told my dad about you. He didn’t approve, so I left. I’d rather die than be away from you.” A sharp pain shot into my heart as he said this. I never want him to leave me.
“You’re not allowed to die you hear me. I forbid it.”
He let out a soft chuckle and pressed his forehead onto mine, “anything for you darling.”
“I don’t want to break the love fest here, but where are you going to stay. Oh by the way I’m Talia.”
“I’m Trent. Nice to meet you,” Trent said as he shook her hand, but never losing contact with me. “And I don’t know. I guess outside.”
“No!” I exclaimed. Where did that come from? Well where ever it came from, I agree. “You’re not staying outside. You’re staying with me…that’s if you want to…”
“I would sleep outside your bedroom door every night, if it meant I got to be near you. And being in the same bed…well I think you’ve just made the happiest man-wolf in the whole wide world.
Talia coughed reminding us we were’t alone, “alright Romeo, let’s go. But you better be like a ninja. If anyone catches you in our place, they’ll kill you first ask questions second.
We made our way back to our place. We all agreed that Trent should come in through the window to avoid the front door. Luckily my room was on the ground floor. I went inside and said my good night to Talia. I made it to my room and opened my window to let Trent in. He made it look so easy and sexy. His muscles flexing in all the right place. He ‘accidently’ dropped the blanket and he was back in his full naked glory. I had to turn around and cover my eyes. I’m a prude, ok?! So sue me! “Here let me get you some clothes to wear.” I kept my back to him, but I could hear him chuckling as I sidestepped over to my dresser. I pulled out some boxer briefs, gym shorts, and a t-shirt and tossed it to him. I waited until he was done dressing himself before I turned around.
“I’m decent now, so you can turn around.” I did as he instructed and to my surprise he was just wearing the boxers. “I usually sleep in the nude so I’m already compromising by wearing these.” I stuck out my tongue at him and in an instant he pulled me into his arms.
“Um, I can sleep on the floor and you can take my bed…”
“Hell no. You’re sleeping right next to me where you belong.” I blushed even more as he said this. What the hell is up with all these blushes. I’ve never blushed so much before in my entire live. I need to see a doctor.
I let out a small grin, “ok ok.”
I walked over to my bed and he followed me like a puppy. I was still smiling. We both got into bed and got under the cover. We both faced each other and he was staring into my eyes and me into his. I saw excitement in his but also some sadness. “I’m sorry about your dad. If you weren’t mated with me all this…” he placed his finger onto my lips, silencing me from going any further.
“One, never be sorry about being my mate. Two, my father is my problem and my problem only. And Three, I would gladly give up everything to have you in my life. Believe that Ky. You’re my mate. I am made for you and you are made for me. I can’t live without you.” My heart fluttered as he said those words. I’ve never had anyone feel this way about me before. He made me happy. Without thinking I moved closer and kissed him on the lips. It was only for a brief moment, but it was enough for me to fall head over heels for him. It sent tingles all over my body and I shudder at the feeling. “Wow,” was all he said before pulling me closer into his chest. I could hear his heartbeat fluttering like mine. He rested his chin on the top of my head and I hugged him. We fell asleep never losing contact.
I woke up to the sound of snoring. Who the hell is snoring? I felt hands on my back and my hand was holding someone’s body tight. I slowly opened my eyes and I saw him. I couldn’t help but smile. It was still dark outside. I slowly got wiggled myself out of his embrace. I wanted to get some water. He didn’t let go without some whinnying. He was such a big baby. But I couldn’t help but smile. I think he was sad because I wasn’t in his arms again. I made my way to the door and slowly turned the knob to open the door. I stepped out and closed it gently. I turned around and made my way to the kitchen. But before I could go any further, I stopped dead in my tracks. In front of my eyes was someone I’d least hope to see, my dad.
“My office…now,” his words came out so low. He turned and went into his office and I followed suit. He closed the door and I made my way to the chair. We sat in silence for a moment. “I tried my hardest to protect you, but you…you’re making it impossible.”
“Dad please let me explain…”
“No! I don’t want to…
“I love him! I’m his mate, dad!” He stared at me with a blank expression. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but it’s true…he’s my mate and I love him. I know it’s all happening so fast, but I feel like I’ve known him forever. I can’t think straight when he is near me. My heart…”
“flutters whenever he touches you,” my dad finished for me. I was puzzled.
“yea…how do you know that?”
“Because…it happened to your mother.” I was speechless. “You’re mother and I truly loved each other. I didn’t want to be a were hunter. I just wanted her. Once she was pregnant with you, my life was complete. I had her and you. I didn’t need anything else. But one day, a pack of wolves came into town as they were migrating. There was one in particular that I’ll never forget, John. You see, your mother was John’s mate. She couldn’t explain these emotions that she was having. She did love me, but fate placed her with John. I couldn’t hate her for how she was feeling. I didn’t understand it, but I couldn’t hate her. I loved her. She was feeling all the things that you’re feeling right now. The indescribable pull towards him. The love you never thought you could have in such a short amount of time. Laila was fated for John. One night, she ran away from home. I thought she was going to leave me and you for John. I followed her to the pack ground, but I was too late. A rogue wolf had killed her before John could save her. She had with her a note. It was a rejection letter to John. She was never going to leave me. She really did love me. But it’s my fault she died. I never should have stopped her from being with John because he would have been able to save her. He could have been able to protect her. She made me promise to never stop you from your fate if for some reason you were mated to a wolf. I didn’t know you were mated to him. But since you are, I can’t stop you. You two were made for each other. I just don’t want to lose you. I can’t lose you.” My dad began to cry. He’s been keeping all this from me just to protect me. I got up from my seat and made my way to him. I hugged him and cried with him.
“I love you so much dad. Please know that I would never leave you. You’re my everything dad.” He sobbed louder as I said this. We stayed like this for what seem like forever. He had finally let it all out.
“I love you Ky. You’re my entire world. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for you.” I smiled as he said this. “And I’m pretty sure he’ll do anything for you too. I know you’re out there. You can come in.” I turned around to see who he was talking about and my mate appeared with a timid smile on his face. “You’d better take care of him and guard him with your life or I swear I will hunt you down and kill you.”
Trent smiled, “I wouldn’t have it any other way sir.”
