(Yay a new chapter!!! Oh and on the side is a cute pic of Ziam recently!!! Love them! Lol! Xx)

“This chest belonged to your father and your grandfather and so on and so forth.” Paul speaks, not looking at Liam.

Liam tenses slightly at the mention of his father. He looks at Paul before looking back at the chest. It’s an old wooden chest, with a lock. There are marking all over it. Some that match Liam’s marks that he gets with each new power and some that he’s never seen before. He runs his fingers along the chest.

“What’s in it?” Liam whispers and Paul rubs his face.

“I don’t know.”

“Have you not opened it?” Liam removes his hands from the chest and stares directly at Paul.

“I can’t open it. Only you can.”

“Alright then…” Liam pulls on the lock, but nothing happens.

He tries to pry open the chest with is strength but still gets nothing. He uses his his telekinesis to try and pick the lock but still nothing. He looks at Paul who is staring at him with a smile tugging on his lips.

“What’s so funny?” Liam spits and Paul chuckles.

“The chest won’t open until it feels as though you’re ready for it to open. Obviously it doesn’t think you’re ready.”

Liam glares at Paul before glaring at the chest. He sighs and stands from the sofa, picking up the chest and tucking it underneath his arm. Liam walks to the stairs muttering curses to the chest out of frustration.

“Get some rest Liam. We will start training tomorrow at seven.” Paul yelles up and Liam grunts.

He gets up to his room and shuts his door with his mind. He tosses the chest on his bed and stares at it. It doesn’t make any sense to Liam why this damned chest won’t open. He feels like he’s ready. His powers are pretty strong and are only getting stronger as the days go by.

Liam changes into some sweat pants, not bothering with a shirt and paces the floor. He keeps staring at the chest, trying to think of ways he can get it to open. He stops walking, looking at the chest. He lifts the chest up, so it’s floating over his bed while he lays down. He lets the chest fall so it’s at the foot of his bed, taunting him. Liam switches off his bedroom light, and turns on his fingers.

He brings the chest back over to him and let’s his fingers illuminate the markings along the chest. He doesn’t know what all of this means. He has some of the markings himself, but some of these are new to him. Liam bites his lip and nods his head to the side tossing the chest on the ground. He lays back in his bed and tries to push his frustrated tears back.

He can’t help but wish he still had his father here. That he wasn’t so alone. He understands he has Paul, but Paul is just a caretaker. Someone from his planet that was only used to watch the children. Paul doesn’t have any powers. He barely understands any of these things. And Liam feels like he’s lucked out. He rolls on his side and sees the chest in the corner of his room. He sighs and shuts his eyes, eventually falling asleep.

Paul wasn’t joking when he said he and Liam were going to train early the next morning. The only sad thing was their training sessions last all day, and Liam had school the next day. So when Monday morning rolled around Liam was sore and aching. His muscles were tight and he had a scratch on his face, from one of the knives Paul threw at him. Paul pulls in front of the school and Liam groans.

“I’ll be here after school to get you.”

Liam just nods his head shortly before getting out the car. He walks slowly that day. His legs threatening to turn to mush with each step. When lunch time rolled around he grabs a basic meal and begins his walk to his lone table.

“Hey, Liam!” He hears Louis’ voice and sees the brown haired boy waving at him.

Liam walks slowly over to the table, ignoring the worried glances of the three boys. He takes his seat next to Zayn and sighs out of relief, relaxing in his chair. He stretches his arms out, not missing how each boy watches his tattoos shift when his muscles flex. He sees Niall bite his lip and Liam grins slightly.

“You look tired.” Zayn speaks and Liam nods.

“Yeah. I uh worked out a little too hard yesterday.”

“I bet you do a lot of things hard.” Louis smirks and Zayn throws a piece of food at him.

“Louis, your whore is showing.” Niall chuckles and Louis rolls his eyes.

“Oh whatever. So Liam, Zayn was just telling us how much fun the two of you had on your date this weekend.” Louis grins and Liam hears Zayn cough, and watches as a blush rises to his cheeks.

“I never said it was a date.”

“Oh really? So the words ‘My date with Liam was so much fun’ didn’t come from your mouth?” Louis raises an eyebrow and Zayn rolls his eyes.

“How long have you all known each other?” Liam speaks attempting to change the subject. Zayn gives him a thankful smile.

“Well Zayn and I have known each other since we were babies. And Niall just joined our twosome a few years ago.”

“Yeah, so trust me I know what it feels like to be the one getting talked about.” Niall smiles and Liam nods. “But it gets better… When someone new moves in to town.” They all laugh at that.

“Shit.” Zayn curses and Liam follows his gaze, to see him looking at someone. “Here comes Styles.”

A boy with somewhat curly hair and a smug smile on his lips walks over to their table. Zayn tenses slightly, Louis rolls his eyes and Niall keeps eating, acting as if the green eyed boy doesn’t exist.

“So you must be Liam.” The boy grins and Liam notices his dimples, that are pierced. “My name is Harry. Harry Styles.”

“Nice to meet you.” Liam shakes Harry’s hand, but doesn’t miss the spark that happens when it does and apparently Harry felt it too, because his eyebrow raises as he examines his own hand.

“So how does it feel to be the talk of the town Liam?” Harry smirks after recovering from the handshake.

“Go away Harry.” Zayn speaks and Harry’s eyes flicker from Liam’s to Zayn.

“Oh I’m sorry Malik. A bit protective of your boyfriend I see.”

“Piss off Harry.” Niall spits.

“Yeah. Don’t you have someone else you need to go mess with?” Louis quips and Harry chuckles.

“But I just love messing with you Boo.” Harry looks back at Liam and smiles. “I’ll see you around Liam.” And with that he’s walking away from the table.

“So…” Liam trails and all the boys sigh.

“Harry Styles. The school’s biggest arse.” Zayn groans.

“Yeah, but I do have to admit he’s got a nice one.” Louis sighs and Niall smacks his arm.

The bell rings signaling lunch is over. Liam goes to stand but Zayn grabs his hand. Louis and Niall smirk, but leave the table throwing away their things. Liam looks at Zayn, who just bites his lip.

“I want to show you something.”

“I have class.” Liam speaks and Zayn laughs.

“So skip.” He stands from his seat and stares at Liam, with his big eyes and Liam caves.

He nods his head and lets Zayn lead him out the cafeteria. They walk out the back exit, hand in hand. Liam doesn’t mind though. He likes the way Zayn’s hand feels in his. They keep walking until they hit the football field. Zayn walks them behind the bleachers. He stops walking and faces a wall. Liam does the same and sees the graffiti.

“What do you think?” Zayn’s voice is low, nervous and Liam assumes it’s because he did this.

“It’s nice.” Liam mutters and walks up to the wall, tracing his fingers along the paint. “You did this.” It’s a statement but Liam catches Zayn nod from the corner of his eye.

“My mom won’t let me do it at home so I find other places to do it.”

“Isn’t it like illegal though?” Liam faces Zayn, who only laughs.

“Yeah.”

Liam only nods and looks at his hands. He can see Zayn’s shoes in front of him and looks up only to be met with a pair of golden brown eyes.

“I’m sorry about Louis. He can be overwhelming at times.”  Zayn’s voice is hushed and Liam only nods.

“It’s alright…” Liam trails off, his mind going somewhere else. “Why are you afraid of Harry?”

“Who said I was afraid?” Zayn asks with hurt laced in his voice.

“It’s just… The way you tensed up and avoided his eye contact and I’m sorry. I just assumed…”

“I’m not afraid of Harry, I just… Don’t like him all that much. He can be really rude sometimes. And I didn’t want him to say anything that would like hurt your feelings.” Zayn looks down when he speaks the last part and Liam’s chest feels warm.

Feels like Zayn actually cares about him and he likes that. Even if they have only known each other for a few days. Zayn looks back up at Liam and smiles, running his fingers through his black hair.

“Why didn’t you deny it?”

“Deny what?” Liam asks, deciding to sit down against the wall since his legs were starting to hurt again.

“That we went on a date.” Zayn sits next to him, but keeps his eyes trained on Liam.

“Oh. I don’t know. It didn’t really matter to me I guess.” Liam speaks and Zayn nods slowly obviously hurt. “No, not like that. God I’m sorry. It’s just I’ve never like hung out with anyone before so I wasn’t really sure what to call it. So I just assumed that if you called it a date than it was a date.”

“Oh… So you’re not mad or anything right?” Zayn asks before gnawing on his bottom lip.

“No.”

“Good.” A silence falls over the two.

Liam just stares at his hands and Zayn rubs his hands on his pants. Both boys refusing to look at one another. Liam feels Zayn shift closer to him and he finally looks up.

“Would you be mad if I asked you out on an actual date?” Zayn’s face is inches from Liam, and Liam can see the hazel-green specks in Zayn’s eyes.

“I don’t think so.” He whispers, not sure if his voice is strong enough.

“Good.” Zayn smiles and pulls away. “So then this Friday? We can catch a movie or get some food and not get coffee.” He grins and Liam raises an eyebrow. “Because you don’t like coffee.”

“Right.”

“So Friday yeah?” Zayn stands and dusts himself off.

“Yeah.”

“If we leave now we can make it back to our very last periods.”

“I don’t really feel like going.” Liam stays sitting, because yeah his legs hurt like hell but he really doesn’t want to go back to class, rather stay out here with Zayn.

“I like the rebel side of you.” Zayn laughs and sits back down.

“How much trouble do you think you’re going to get in by your uncle for skipping?” Zayn asks as he and Liam walk to the front of the school.

“Probably a lot.” Liam sighs and Zayn nods.

“Sorry.”

“It’s fine. I like spending time with you.” Liam adds in awkwardly, causing Zayn to smile widely.

“Same. Even if you don’t talk a lot. It’s cute.”

Liam blushes and looks away from Zayn and to the ground. Zayn just laughs and knocks Liam’s arm with his own. When they get out front Liam looks up to see Paul already glaring at him. He rolls his eyes before looking at Zayn.

“I will talk to you later?” He asks and Zayn nods quickly.

“Yeah. Bye Liam.”

Liam walks to the car and opens the door. He slings his bag in the back and Paul drives away from the school. Liam rests his head on the window.

“You know you’re in big trouble right?” Paul’s voice is hard and Liam nods, understanding but not regretting skipping his last two classes with Zayn.

He thinks it’s the best decision he’s ever made actually. Probably one that he will do again, if the future allows him to.
