A/N: This chapter was based off of what a guy recently just said to me. All because he didn’t want to lead me on even though we had gone out three times. Oh well. Enjoy.
Sammy
Walking towards his truck, Sammy yawned while rubbing his face tiredly. Before he opened his door he suddenly heard, “Sammy!” Turning around he saw Lea running towards him, huffing when she stopped in front of him. “Can we please talk?”
“Sure.”
Following her over to the grass he sat down next to her, nervously twiddling his thumbs. “Sammy, I’m really sorry I ever told Evan you like him. I know it wasn’t my place to say anything, I hate that I haven’t been able to talk to my best friend.” When he looked up he frowned when he saw tears rushing down his best friend’s face. Scooting over to her he wrapped his arm around her while saying,
“It’s okay Lea, I’ve hated not being able to talk to my best friend too.”
They stayed in the grass for a while longer, sitting in a comfortable silence with each other. Smiling over at Lea, he watched as she kissed him on the cheek while saying, “I’m really sorry again. I never want to lose someone as amazing as you.”
“It’s okay,” he said with a small smile while glancing down at the grass.
“Did you hear about Maci?” Lea suddenly asked, making Sammy glance up at her with a confused look.
“What about her?”
“She’s pregnant.”
“What?” Sammy all but yelled, making a few people passing by give him a worried glance. “How do you know that?”
“Teddy told me, who heard it from Evan. I guess she’s been knocked up for a while and just now told Evan. Teddy told me that Evan went to Delaware for a while to clear his head, that’s why he hasn’t been in school for a while.”
Wow, Sammy thought while glancing over at the empty parking lot. Evan’s going to be a father? Glancing back over at Lea he smiled while watching her excited face while she was talking about a new dress she found. Even though she made him mad, she was still his best friend. There is no way he could ever live without her.
As they were catching up on all the gossip a throat was suddenly clearing behind them. Turning around Sammy saw Xander smiling down at them. “Hi, can I talk to you for a minute?” Glancing over at Lea he watched her give him a smile before kissing his cheek.
“Call me later?”
Nodding he watched her walk away while Xander sat down next to him in the grass. “I just wanted to apologize, for what happened at the movie theatre. The situation got out of control and I wanted to apologize, that is definitely not how I wanted the night to go.”
“It’s in the past, don’t worry about it. It’s okay.”
“No Sammy, it’s not okay, for some reason I seem to turn into a different person around Evan, and there is no excuse for me to take it out on you. Would I be able to make it up to you?”
Looking at his tan face, Sammy slowly nodded, smiling when he saw Xander’s mouth turn up into a smile. They sat in a comfortable silence for a short time after, simply enjoying each other’s company. Sure, maybe things haven’t gone perfect the past few weeks, but it would be okay. Even though Sammy felt like he got his heart ripped out of his chest, he knew he needed to get over Evan, as well as MIT. There are other colleges out there, there are other guys. Glancing at Xander he smiled, hoping he would actually be able to listen to his own advice.

Evan
Massachusetts welcomes you. Driving past the welcome sign, Evan rolled up his window while a yawn escaped from his lips. He knew escaping to Delaware probably wasn’t the best decision, but he needed to get away. Away from the stress. Away from the pain. Away from everything wrong that was going on. He probably should have told his parents, seeing as how they were fuming with him. The only person he told was Teddy, no one else really seemed to matter. Once Maci told him she was pregnant, he felt like his entire world was falling apart.
How could he have let something like that happen? He thought they were being careful, the last thing he needed on his mind was a baby. Baby, he thought while running a hand over his scruffy face. A little me. Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad. Thinking about the life choices he’s made recently he instantly rolled his eyes. No way.
When he was about to turn down his street he suddenly thought of a particular person. Turning around he sped down the street until he ended up in front of a familiar house. The house was dark, making it look slightly scary. Parking on the side of the road he got out before slowly walking around the back of the house. Glancing up at the dark house he saw a single light on.
Looking around the large yard he started climbing up the side of the house on a gutter. Once he was up towards the top he saw a window, which was luckily open. Looking inside he saw Sammy lying on his back on his bed, yawning. Why is he still up? He thought while looking at the clock in the room, which said 2:45.
Before he changed his mind he climbed through the open window, making Sammy gasp and fall off the bed. “W-what the hell?” Sammy whispered while holding his head. “What are you doing?”
“Just let me get this out okay?” Evan asked while leaning against the window. “Look, I’m into girls. I’ve never been into guys. Just because you make me feel different than any other girl, doesn’t mean that I’m going to change my life for one person. Okay? I just… you make me feel different. And that scares me Sammy; you have no idea how much that scares me.”
Running his hands over his face he started to talk again before watching Xander come into the room. “I shouldn’t drink so much next ti-…. What’s going on here?”
“What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here?” Xander asked while putting his hands over his chest.
“We were working on a project and lost track of time,” Sammy whispered.
“Can you give us a moment?” Evan angrily asked.
He watched Xander look down at Sammy and ask, “Are you okay?” When Sammy nodded he watched as Xander left the room, glaring at him in the process.
Taking a deep breath he rubbed his hands over his face before throwing his arms up into the air. “I don’t know what you want from me Sammy. I don’t know how to act around you; I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel. What do I do?” He practically yelled while walking closer to Sammy, frowning when he watched his smaller body flinch. “I can’t even think straight around you. But this is the thing; I can’t just change my whole life for these one time feelings.”
“And how do you think I feel?” Sammy suddenly yelled, making Evan flinch and hit the wall behind him. “Do you think this is a walk in the park for me? I have had feelings for you, and only you, forever! Then you say all these things to me, what to make me feel better? Why don’t you just stop, because I can’t take any more heartbreak!” Sammy yelled while his lip started quivering as he sunk down onto his bed.
Putting his head into his hands he started to silently sob. Frowning, Evan kneeled down in front of him while putting his hands on either side of his tiny body. “I can’t take this anymore Evan,” Sammy sobbed without looking up. “If you came here to just tell me again I’m not worth it, why did you have to? You could’ve just left me alone.”
Looking down at the floor Evan continued to frown, feeling like a complete dick. “I don’t know,” Evan whispered. “I just can’t stay away from you. I keep telling myself that I need to stay away. I know you deserve someone better than me, can’t you see that? You don’t deserve me.”
He watched as Sammy slowly looked up at him, tears still streaming down his cheeks. “I’m sorry Sammy; you deserve someone who doesn’t make you cry. No one should make you cry,” he whispered while wiping the tears away. “And I know I’m a complete douche for continuously making you cry. I just-”
His rant was suddenly cut off when Sammy leaned forward and kissed him. His entire body tensed up, not knowing what to do. When he watched Sammy pull back with tear stained eyes, he pulled him back over to him. Wrapping his arms around his waist Evan tilted his head to the side while deepening the kiss. He felt Sammy wrap his arms around his neck before his little fingers made their way into his hair.
Pulling back ever so slightly he breathed heavily while looking into those eyes. Glancing down at those swollen lips he leaned forward to capture those sweet lips once again, while they fell down onto the bed. Just as his hands were creeping under Sammy’s shirt he quickly pulled back, breathing heavily. “I… I can’t,” Evan whispered while making his way out the window, feeling like this was his way out of Sammy’s life.
