“Dax do you remember my brother ? “

Dax rested his back against the roots of the trees. Talon was sitting across Dax. He wasn’t laying against him nor close to him.

“Marc-Lucas knew him better”

“What do you know about him?”

“Well he was engaged from what I remember. But he was addicted to Marc-Lucas a little bit too much”

Talon nod. He looked down at his hands.

He remembered his brother. Pierced brow and pierced lip. Dirty blonde hair and always an easy going smile as he endlessly played the piano.

As he passionately danced tango with mistresses that he never really looked directly at.

As he made origami and than proceeded in teaching his brother,Talon how to make them.

Talon didn’t mind how untalented and useless he was compared to his older brother Fin. Fin was his idol. That was enough.

Fin had a partner. A man. And one day he announced his marriage. However he never introduced them his fiancé. But he always talked to Talon about Marc-Lucas. His guardian. The man with deer horns and waist lengthen dark brown curly hair.

He knew how his guardian looks from the sketches find drew. Fin also wrote a song for him and played on the piano.

He is a man like no other in all aspects”

He would say again and again. That’s how he ended every sentence. But when Talon would ask Fin about his fiancé the light in Fins eyes would dim,his lips would quiver and he would mess with his hair

Well. He is…intelligent. Successful. But he is like any other human. He doesn’t have the riches of god

And does Marc-Lucas have them?”

And than Fin would grin and nod

He stands above a god. And I worship him with whatever I have to offer. You’ll understand once you meet your own guardian talon”

Then he would hold Talons shoulders as the little brother would cast his eyes away from the damaged wrists his brother had

But remember. He isn’t obliged to see you. So you should always show him how grateful and thankful you are”

And Talon knew that he meant to offer a sacrifice. To offer his blood like people offer wine to an important guest.

And to offer his flesh when time would come. But back than Talon knew little about astral traveling, about rituals and Lucid dreams or tarot cards.

So he didn’t understand why was his brother so entranced by that mysterious Marc-Lucas.

And his brother had a way of been open about everything yet never telling enough. So when he died Talon felt frustrated. Unguarded. Abandoned.

Who will play me the piano to sleep?

Who will teach me the art of crafting?!

He remembered himself screaming at his brother dead body.

Talon was the first to see it. He was the first to see the empty bottle of pills he had.

It weren’t his usual sleeping pills. Those he used to get to lucid dreaming quicker. He couldn’t recognize the empty glass container that laid on the marble floor of the bathroom

“Marc-Lucas hasn’t visited me since Fins death”

“Then someone else will help you find out about him”

“Who?”

Dax shrugged and messed with Talons hair.

“Come here” he said and Talon peeked up sitting closer. Dax wrapped his arm around the boys thin waist

“Let me braid your hair”

And Talon let him. He played with the hem of his jacket. Talon was wearing his jacket alone.

“Dax I…”

“I kissed him”

Dax brows rose up “kissed who ?”

“The boy with black hair…the one who smelt like the ocean…”

“Cadis Etrama?”

Talon nod. He didn’t remember telling Dax the boys name. Perhaps he did. He wasn’t sure

“And?”

“I don’t know”

“Do you like him?”

Talon felt like Dax was testing him. In truth Talon himself didn’t know if he liked Cadis or not.

Perhaps he did

+++

Lectures had begun. Math. No one was good at math. No one but Eddie who was an expert. But Eddie weren’t on their class

So Talon, Kevin, Cadis and Max had to go through the struggle alone

Max didn’t even try. She wasted no second taking out her sketchpad and started sketching with her freshly sharpened charcoals

Cadis was carefully filling in with black ink his drawing beneath his desk

Kevin was asleep on top of his desk, back hunched, shoulders slowly tossing and falling with each breath.

Talon playing a game with his cards in which he tried to guess which card would be the one he picked.

In other words. None of them actually tried to understand Math. Cadis poked Max side with the back of his paint brush and she grunted quietly

“Max?”

“What?”

“I have a question “

“If it’s something stupid I’ll punch you”

“It’s not!”

Cadis protested his voice raspier when he whispered. Like thunder that indicating a storm was about to come

“Go ahead”

“Do you think I’m hot?”

Cadis got punched in the jaw

The bell rang and Max bolted out of the classroom. Cadis couldn’t tell why was she so eager to leave and go to the library at the long break.

He glanced at Talon who took his sweet time collecting his supplies in his bag neatly putting them in order. Something that seemed incredibly hard for Cadis to accomplish.

He had to take out and put in his bag things all the time. That took enough effort. He wouldn’t double it by keeping up an order.

He slowly dragged his feet to Talons side and patted the boys shoulder who jolted and snapped his head up looking at him behind the hood

“Hey do you think we can talk?”

Talon frowned and bit his lower lip hard.

“About…that night?”

Cadis slowly nod. The classroom was mostly empty. The only people were Kevin who was asleep and he old teacher who was cleaning the board

So Cadis carefully placed his fingers on the nape of Talons neck and then dipped them in the blue lovely curls. Talon froze. Then pulled away

“I know it didn’t mean anything don’t worry” he said on a normal pace for the first time. It came as a surprise to Cadis.

So he could talk fast too. Then why drag each sentence so long?

“No that’s not-“

“I don’t want to know”

Talon cut him and then looked down at his sneakers

“I don’t want to know yet. Because I don’t know what you want to say. And I’m not ready to answer any kind of explanation you have to offer”

He grabbed his back and darted out of the classroom.

Cadis had a pained look on his face. He already missed Talon. His lips, more specifically. Perhaps he had a crush on the boy. After years of been neutral to every human being, perhaps he found someone he liked

“What kind of shit did you pull?”

He heard Kevin’s voice and he lowered his eyes, his chin still up.

“None of your business”

Cadis growled possessively and stormed out of the classroom

The teacher sighed

“Teenagers these days…always in a hurry”
