Spring break. By far this was one of the saddest Spring Breaks I have ever endured. My mom was off and home so I couldn’t even be alone in the house and Josh still wasn’t talking to me. The one time I heard from him was when he asked me what we had to do for homework and that’s it. No other conversation. I saw him typing but it stopped after a minute and he just said goodbye.

I remember sighing and just throwing my phone over on my couch before going to bed frustrated when that happened.

I had work today though. That was something to do, right? It was a lot better than just sitting at home and moping around my phone, waiting for Josh to text me.

I got in at around 11:30 and I would be going until closing. Jenna wasn’t working with me today, someone new was. That meant I had to show them what to do while doing my job effectively. It was going to be a hassle but it would keep me busy.

An hour in, things were going well. The new employee, Mark, was doing well. He didn’t seem to have too many questions and was actually really friendly. Working with him wasn’t so bad.

It was a hot day so we got a lot of customers. The line was out the door by 2 PM but things began to slow down around three. I took that time to really get to know Mark.

“So what’s up?” I leaned on the counter and looked at him.

“Nothing much. Working, just like you.” He smiled. I chuckled. It was true, sadly. This job got lame sometimes.

“Yeah. So do you like it here so far?” He nodded before talking.

“It’s not so bad. My wrist is starting to hurt though.” He rotated his wrist and bent it a bit.

“Yeah it’ll hurt for the first few weeks. Just ice it and hope for softer orders.” I joked.

“How long have you worked here?” He titled his head in question.

“Ah, this is my second year. It’s not so bad. The pay and tips are good and Jenna is pretty cool.”

“Yeah, she is.”

“Yeah, it’s cool. Alright let’s tackle these last few customers, alright? We’re closing early tonight.” I tapped on the counter and sighed as I got ready for, hopefully, the last wave of people that came in.

“Hey! What can I get you guys tonight?” I started. The group ordered, I gave them their ice cream, checked them out and they left, shortening up the work load.

“You got this last person?” I asked Mark as I turned around, took off my gear and clocked out for the night.

“Uh, I’m not so sure about that. Hey, Tyler.” He said.

“What?” I spun around to face him but I saw Josh standing at the front holding flowers and looking straight at me.

“Yeah, I think this one’s for you. I’ll see you around, Tyler.” Mark patted me on the back and clocked out, leaving work.

“Hey, Tyler.” Josh said, walking up to the counter closer to me.

“Hi, Josh. What are you doing here?”

“I came to apologize. I have flowers.” He pointed out, looking at me.

“I see. Why’s that?” I came around the counter and stood in front of him.

“Because I know I messed up.” He held the alluring bouquet of flowers out to me. I took them and studied them, all while taking in the nice aroma of them all. The bouquet was filled with beautifully bloomed white roses and daisies; I loved it.

“Well they’re beautiful. Thank you.” I told him plainly.

“Yeah.” He simply looked at me for a while and that’s all we did. “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.”

“I should have talked to you sooner. I’m sorry.” I shrugged my shoulders and set the flowers down so I could get the keys and lock up.

“It’s fine. Come on, I have to close up.” Josh followed me out of the building and stood with me outside my car.

“Did you walk here?” I asked. He leaned up against the driver’s side door.

“Yeah. Do you mind taking me to your house? I’d prefer talking to you there.”

“No problem.” For the first time I was actually nervous for him to come over my house. What did he want to talk about anyways? I mean, I know he missed me and I missed him too but he didn’t even really apologize.

The car ride home was pretty silent but when we got home, inside and in my room, he immediately hugged me.

“I’m so sorry, Tyler. I’m sorry.” I patted his back and sat him down on my couch.

“It’s fine, Josh. I shouldn’t have pushed you to tell me so much.”

“No. I should have told you more. I don’t know why I push you away. I love you so much more than that.” He cried into my shoulder as I rubbed his back and let a stray tear fall from my eye.

“I love you too, Josh. I really do. It’s okay. I just want you okay, you know?” I pulled him back and looked him in his beautiful, teary eyes.

“I know. I love you.” I chuckled at his words.

“I know you do, cutie. I know.”

For a moment we just sat there looking at each other. We were both crying but Josh was more than I. I’d never seen him cry like this. It saddened me. It made me want to hold him, kiss him, protect him. He deserved to be happy, he didn’t deserve these tears.

Without a warning to him, I took hold of his soft, but wet, face and kissed his lips with as much love as I could bare. A small whimper escaped Josh’s lips but he caught up in time and kissed me back with just as much force and passion.

It was like we both were letting out our frustrations, worries and care through the kiss and stopping didn’t look so close. Both of our tongues fought for dominance and entrance of each other’s mouths but I eventually gave into Josh. It was worth it since Josh then guided me back on the couch and situated himself between my legs, still kissing me.

His tears were gone now. His eyes were probably glossed over with lust instead as I felt him slip his hand  underneath my shirt and feel up and down my chest. I moaned a small bit and ended our activities in a heavy breath.

“I guess we made up?” I chuckled.

“We did.” Josh grabbed my hand. “I love you.”

“I love you too. Do you want to stay over?”

“Yeah, that sounds good. Let’s go to bed anyways.” He led me over to my bed and laid down with me, holding me with his protective and warm arms.

“I’m sorry for hurting you, Tyler.”

“It’s okay, Josh. I know you didn’t mean to.” After that, Josh kissed the top of my head and turned off the light so we could go to bed.

I guess Spring Break wasn’t too bad.
