Chapter 4

Eli’s pov

“Maybe you can pretend to be sick or something.” Kayla offered. We were sitting on my couch watching tv, and talking about the next baskettball game I had to play at.

I kept complaining about going.

She was obviously getting annoyed.

“My dad will be disappointed.” I pointed out. She didn’t give it much thought.

“Who cares what he thinks? Why does it matter?” She asked looking at me skeptically.

“Because… I don’t know,” I shrugged “But he’s my dad and I want him to be proud.” I stated.

“Whatever.” She huffed. We were silent for a while.

My mind wandered to something else and I realized so far she hasn’t said anything about me being gay since last night and I still want to know how she knew.

Did I act gay? Had she caught me checking a guy out? I was so carefull.

After a few more minutes of anticipation I spoke up.

“How did you know I was gay?” I asked. She grinned and scooted closer to me.

“Your my best friend. How could I not know?” She giggled and I grinned.

“So it’s not obvious though…?” I asked.

She frowned and searched in my eyes.

“No, but does it really matter? Why do you have to be worried if people know your gay?” Her words made me blush, I still wasn’t used to discussing this with her.

“Being gay is gross…. I don’t want to be gay.” I said embarrassed and fought back tears. I couldn’t cry, if I did it would show how much of a fag I really was.

“I’m disgusting.” I choked out and stood up.

“I think you should go.” My words emotionless.

“Fine… But your not disgusting. Don’t be ashamed of who you are.” Her words stuck in my Brain as she walked out, shutting the door softly when she left.

I’m disgusting. Gross. I shouldn’t be gay.

Maybe I can change.

Chapter 4

Carters pov

I was sitting in my room, bored.

Wes was on my bed, he seemed upset.

“Is this about that girl?” I asked breaking the silence.

“What do you mean?” He asked plainly.

“Dude come on, just tell me what happened.” I insisted.

“Fine.” He gave in with a sigh and sat up, facing me. “So me and this girl have had this thing going on for a long time. We would flirt all the time and we both knew how eachother felt… Well atlests I thought we did.” He said disappointedly. “But the other day…” He pauses taking a breath. “I… I kissed her.” He said shrugging.

“And…?” I asked, wanting to know more of the story.

“She didn’t kiss back. And she told me we couldn’t be together because… I would ruin her fucking reputation.” He said pissed off.

I felt empathy for the boy sitting in front of me. I had been in the same situation before.

“Well then forget her. She doesn’t matter.” I insisted.

“But I loved her.” He said. Love? Love was a strong word.

“What was her name?” I asked ignoring his statement.

“Kayla.”
