Chapter 26
Eli’s pov
I smiled at him triumphantly. I was so happy right now.
I had never realized I could be this happy.
“And I umm, wanted to know if you wanted to umm, maybe go on a date maybe?” I asked nervously. He planted a small peck on my lips and smiled. I’ll take that as a yes then?
“And I’ll even tell my parents about us if you want.” I gulped. It was true. If he wanted me to I would.
“No no you don’t have to, your obviously not ready yet.” He said. I smiled up at him, he was so understanding.
“But… What about school, what are you gonna tell them?” He asked biting his lip nervously.
“The truth.” I stated plainly.
“And that is?” He asked.
“That I love you.”
“They won’t accept us. Not all of them at least.” He said looking down.
“Hey… I didn’t just almost die just so that I could lie about who I was in love with in public.” I joked and he forced a laugh but a tear still slid down his cheek.
I wiped it away from his face and looked in his eyes.
“Hey… It’s gonna be okay. I will protect you.” I promised.
But maybe I was the one who needed protecting.
He nodded then smiled. “How am I gonna explain to my dad that I snuck out last night to see you?” He asked and I groaned, why did his dad hate me so much?
“Maybe he has a soft spot for the injured?” I joked and he laughed.
“For your information,” Carters dad opened the door glaring at me, “I dont.”
“Have you been eavesdropping?” Carter exclaimed.
“Oh don’t worry I just heard all of it.” He said glaring at me.
“Oh dear, loving, trusting son of mine,” he turned looking at Carter “Would you give me a moment here with Eli?” He asked, too cheerfully.
He looked between us and reluctantly stood up and walked out.
“Thank you.” He said sitting in a chair next to the bed.
His change of tone caught me off guard.
“Umm for what?” I asked.
“You would risk anything for him. That’s all I’ve ever wanted for him.” He said and I smiled with victory.
“Hey don’t get so excited I still don’t like you.” He rolled his eyes.
“Why not?” I huffed.
“You kissed him for crying out loud!” He exclaimed and I cringed. I forgot that he was listening.
“Umm, sorry?” I tried to apologize.
“Sorry? Really? Your apologizing for kissing my son? What kind of douche bag boyfriend are you?” He said dramatically putting a hand over his heart and left the room but I smiled.
Yeah, he liked me.
Chapter 25
Carters pov
“Please don’t tell me you hurt his beautiful face.” I groaned as my dad walked out of Eli’s hospital room.
He rolled his eyes at me and sat by my mom in the waiting room.
“I’m gonna go talk to him.” Kayla motioned to the door and walked into the room. As we had waited out here all night long we had gotten closer.
“So you guys are dating now?” Wes asked for the milionth time.
I rolled my eyes. “We are going on a date, but I don’t know if we’re dating yet, we didn’t talk about that yet.” I explained. Again.
“Ohh… Hey why aren’t his parents here?” Wes asked.
“Im not sure, they were here earlier.” I shrugged.
Wes kept talking but I had stopped listening, right now I had one thing on my mind.
I loved Eli, and he loved me.
