A Suga x Taehyung story…
After biding his friends goodbye, Taehyung went into the classroom alone with his eyes still glued on his phone
“Remember our date after school hyung!” Jungkook shouted across the classroom and merely received a insincerely nod from Taehyung. He wasn’t surprised at all – ever since he downloaded the game, Taehyung had been swiping his screen and screaming “Snorlax!!” every few minutes.
It’s Maths lesson now, but Taehyung didn’t really care, he was in the gym, the Pokemon gym I mean, in the midst of an intense battle. At this moment, the originally filled with Mr Park’s nagging was replaced with silence, followed by him saying in a stern voice, “Why are you so late, Min Yoongi?”
Taehyung caught the name, as he took a quick pause and looked up. Standing at the door was Suga, with a disinterested face as he greeted the teacher. “I was having a stomach ache just now,” he explained. Taehyung simply chuckled as he knew it was a lie, that friend of his probably overslept during the break.
And when Suga went back to his seat beside Taehyung, the younger boy stopped his game and whispered, “Hyung, how’s your stomach? Feeling better?”
Suga heard absolute sarcasm in that sentence as he rolled his eyes, “Yea sure, just filled the toilet with all my shit.”
“Tell me honestly hyung, where were you? You didn’t joined us for lunch just now…”
“I…I…I was talking to someone.”
“Who?”
“Soyeon.”
Upon hearing that name, the smile on Taehyung’s face immediately vanished. Soyeon, she was their mutual friend, but Suga probably treat her more than just a friend…
“Wae yo? You were with her?”
“Ne. I asked her out…for a date.”
“J-jinja? Y-you finally confessed to her?”
“Uhh kinda of, we’re going to catch a movie after school.”
“Hmm that’s great,” Taehyung forced out a smile before turning back to face the whiteboard. Despite looking ‘attentively’ at those math equations, his mind was actually somewhere else. Soyeon…she’s in their science class. She’s pretty, friendly, smart…she’s everything, she’s so perfect, so perfect that every guy would fall in love with her, even Yoongi. So perfect that it made Taehyung scared, how can he beat such a wonderful girl? Yoongi would never choose him over her…
Taehyung was jealous, not jealous of Yoongi because he get to date the prettiest girl in the school, but jealous of Soyeon…Yoongi actually made the effort to ask her out…
He took a quick glance at his table mate, who is now paying full attention to the lesson. After school…he would going out with Soyeon, he would not go home with Taehyung like they usually do, Suga would soon be her boyfriend…something Taehyung dread to imagine…
“Okay guys, let’s do some practice questions!” Mr Park said as all the students began to punch their calculators and write furiously on their paper.
“Hyung,” Taehyung nudged the older one, “lend me your periodic table.”
“Wae yo?”
“Aren’t we doing practices now?”
“Yea, but we’re having maths now.”
“Huh? I thought it was Chemistry?”
“Taehyung ah~ have you been spacing out since morning? Chemistry was the first lesson today!”
“Huh? Jinja? Oh I see…” Taehyung scratched his head embarrassingly.
Suga could only look at his classmate beside him and sighed at how blur he is. But he wasn’t surprised at all. Taehyung knows nothing except for gaming, and without Suga’s always beside him reminding him on what to do during lesson, Taehyung would most likely not graduate from high school.
“You’re like a kid,” Suga uttered, “always making me worried. How are you gonna do without me?”
“Then you will have to stay beside me forever, hyung!” Taehyung showed his rectangular smile.
Finally, the time has come for Suga’s first date. He was the first to dash out of the class when the school bell rang. Taehyung didn’t even had time to bid his hyung goodbye before seeing his back vanishing into the crowd. “He’s probably too excited for his date…” he mumbled with a slight frown on his face.
Standing outside the school gate was Jungkook, waiting excitedly for his hyung. After waving enthusiastically at his hyung, he exclaimed, “So…where should we go today for our pokemon hunting?”
“Hmm…I’m going to Gyojeong Park.”
“Uh where’s that?”
“I don’t know too, but Yoongi hyung said that there’s lot of pokemon there,” Taehyung explained as he recalled the exact conversation they had just now.
To wake up the sleepy Taehyung during English lesson, Suga nudged his elbow and began to talk about Pokemon Go. “I heard that you’re the best player in our school, Taehyung.”
“Jinja? It takes hours of hard work to get to my level…”
“Don’t tell me you really go to all parts of Korea to hunt for Pokemon friend.”
“I did! Me and Jungkook had been going to different places after school every day. I’m gonna be the first person in Korea to catch all the Pokemons!”
“And you will also be the first person in Korea to fail all his final papers.”
“Ayyy hyung, so what if I suck in school? I’ll probably be a professional gamer when I grow up!”
“Hmm…sounds good. Anyway, I heard that there’s lots of rare Pokemons at Gyojeong Park.”
“Jinja?!? Where is it?”
“Hmmm…near my house. Wait, let me give you the address.”
And that’s how Taehyung changed his plan and decided to listen to Suga.
“But do you know the way there, hyung?” Jungkook asked.
“Uh according to the Google Map, it takes thirty minutes to get there.”
“Thirty minutes! That’s too long!”
And that’s how Taehyung ended up going to that park alone. Since day one, he trusted every single word Suga said, mainly because he looked reliable and…he believed that Suga wouldn’t lie to him. He would always listen to Suga’s words.
Immediately, after setting his foot on the ground, he detected a few pokemons, with CP levels higher than his grades.
Delighted, Taehyung made his way into the park as he began his pokemon hunting. Indeed, Suga was right, there were a few rare ones! Taehyung was thrilled to share his collection with Kookie once he gets home. However, unknowingly, he became too engrossed in his game to keep track of his path.
“Shit!” Taehyung uttered after finding himself in a unfamiliar surrounding. There were only trees beside, no Jungkook, no human, no POKEMON!!
He looked at his phone to realise that his Dragonite has actually ran away. “Oh no,” he mumbled before trying to figure where he really is.
However, as if in a maze, there was no specific route, neither did any direction look safe enough to proceed on. Ettokae… Taehyung tried to calm himself down by searching for more pokemon but what made the situation worse was the ‘low in battery’ sign that had appeared for the second time on his screen.
His phone was only left with 5% of battery and its was all thanks to the two hours of catching pokemon. “Aishh…what’s wrong with today? I shouldn’t have listened to Suga hyung.”
At this moment, he suddenly stopped as he repeated, “Yes, Suga hyung! He was the one who told me about this place, he must be very familiar!” And without further ado, Taehyung immediately dialed for help.
“Yoboseyo?”
“Hyung! It’s me!”
“Wae yo? I’m about to collect my tickets.”
“I’m…lost.”
“Wae?”
“I listened to you and went to the park you told me about and…as I was catching my Dragonite…somehow I found myself in a totally unfamiliar place.”
“YOU CAUGHT A DRAGONITE?!?”
“Aniyo, it ran off, but that’s not the main point hyung! I’m lost, and I might get eaten by some wild animal or something…”
“So…what do you mean me to do?”
“Save me!”
“Andwae! My movie is starting in five minutes and I’m not gonna give up on my date with Soyeon JUST FOR YOU!”
“But hyung-“
“Just use Google Map or something alright?”
“But the sky is…”
“The sky is what?”
“Aniya, gwenchana hyung…I…I think I get find my way out. It’s okay! You can watch your movie and not worry about me,” Taehyung assured, forcing out a smile despite knowing that his hyung would not be able to see it.
“O-okay then, are you sure?”
“Ne hyung, I…I will make it out alive, don’t worry.”
With that, Taehyung ended the call and found that his battery has dropped another 1%. “I shouldn’t disturb his date with Soyeon,” he mumbled as he looked at his wallpaper to make him feel better. It was a picture of him and Suga, with wide grins on their faces. Suga did not like to take photos, except for that day when the birthday boy demanded to take a selfie with him.
Taehyung turned to look at his phone case, it was a gift from Suga on that birthday, it was supposed to be a couple phone case. Suga claimed that he initially bought it for him and Soyeon but got the wrong type of phone case and thus it ended up as a birthday gift for Taehyung. And Taehyung did not mind it at all…it was pretty rare for friends to have couple items, especially for two boys, but Taehyung did not mind at all…he loves the idea in fact.
Meanwhile, outside the cinema, Suga insisted to treat Soyeon and even bought nachos and popcorn which he usually complain it was too expensive. Of course he was freaking nervous to go on a first date with his crush, but then, he was trying hard to conceal his uneasiness.
“Let’s go,” Suga smiled as they made their way into the cinema. They were perfectly on time, the advertisement has just started and everybody were making their way in.
“I heard that this show is pretty nice,” he started the conversation.
“Ne, my friends all recommended it!”
“But it’s a horror movie, are you afraid?”
“Aniyo, I love horror movies! How about you, oppa?”
“Hehe, me? I don’t usually have much reactions when watching horror movies, unlike one of my friend who would always grab my arms or hide behind me when we…” Suga chuckled as he recalled the episode when he watching Train to Busan with Taehyung, “he claimed that he loves horror movies but he obviously can’t watch any of those.” Suga smiled at her before returning his eyes to the screen, heaving in a deep breath to calm himself down.
Taehyung’s face will always pop out in Suga’s mind when he talks about life. “This Taehyung…he’s always so dumb,” he mumbled and smiled at himself dumbly. Oh right…Taehyung…the one who’s still lost in the park…
Suga recalled that Taehyung had absolutely no sense of direction and he’s lost! Scenarios became to appear in his mind as he became worried. “Let me make a first call,” Suga apologized before excusing himself.
Standing outside the cinema, he dialed Taehyung’s number which was picked up almost immediately. “Taehyung ah, where are you now?”
“Err…I don’t know.”
“You have not found your way yet?”
“Aniyo hyung, I’m on my way to…somewhere. And I’m supposed to turn right now…oh wait, isn’t this my left?”
“Yah Taehyung! You don’t know how to differentiate your left and your right?”
“Aniyo, I know it, I just need a few seconds…”
“You must be joking friend…”
“Uh hyung, I need to hang up now, my phone cant get under the rain.”
“It’s raining there?”
“Hmm…it’s drizzling now, the sky is pretty dark.”
“You better get your ass out of there asap okay?”
“A-arraso hyung, I’ll be fine…I think…”
Suga sensed uncertainty in Taehyung’s words but he managed to convince himself that his friend will probably figure out his way sooner or later. Who would want to kidnap him anyway? He’s safe, yea, he should be quite safe…
Returning to his seat, Suga was just in time as the movie finally began. He took one glance at Soyeon, who was totally immersed by the starting credits already.
The movie began with a young kid running in the forest, he was being chased by a dark shadow. The eerie background music made the atmosphere even more tense. He fell onto the ground, his knees were bleeding, he can’t run anymore. And when he looked up, “AHHHHH!” he screamed.
Suga was obviously taken aback by this scene as he held his breath. At this moment, a question popped up in his mind, “W-what if this happens to Taehyung too?” Oh no, bad scenarios became to form in his mind. Will Taehyung be eaten up? Or will he be kidnap? Will he be injured? Oh shit, he said it was going to rain! Will he be fine?
All these questions just kept him occupied that his mind wasn’t with the movie. He couldn’t concentrate on the big screen in front of him anymore. His heart began to beat faster, all he could think about is Taehyung. He thought probably praying might save Taehyung’s life, but no, Suga don’t believe in such things.
Suga’s eyes darted here and there, his fingers curled into a ball and looked at his phone. There was no message from Taehyung saying that he’s fine or he found his way. Fifteen minutes has gone and there’s still no news from his friend.
Suga couldn’t take it anymore. “Urghh I hate you Kim Taehyung,” he mumbled before standing up, which attracted as unfriendly stares from the people around him. He did not bother about them, as he bent down and whispered to Soyeon, “I think I need to go first, I have some important to attend to.” Without even hearing her reply, Suga dashed out of the cinema.
He hailed a taxi and sped straight to the garden. While on his way there, Suga called Taehyung again. “Where are you now?”
“I…I’m back to my original spot hyung.”
“W-what?”
“Err…nothing hyung! I’m fine, I’m…I found my way. Don’t worry.”
“How can I not worry when you suck at lying Taehyung?”
“Huh? I…I’m not.”
“Tell me honestly, where are you now?”
“I…I don’t know hyung.”
“Okay nevermind, just stay where you are and I’ll go and find you.”
“But…hyung, aren’t you watching a movie?”
“How can I watch in peace when I know that you’re lost?”
“Hyung~ I’m so touched.”
“You owe me a movie Kim Taehyung. Anyway, I’ll call you when I get there, don’t worry.”
“Uhh but hyung…my phone…is dying soon.”
“What?!?”
“There’s only 1% left.”
“Urghhh Kim Taehyung, you’re driving me crazy!”
“Hehe hyung, you sound like you’re gonna kill me right now.”
“I AM!!”
Suga cursed under his breath after his call was sent to the voicemail for the nth times. How is he gonna find Taehyung in this freaking huge park? He tried to imitate detectives in movies and followed footsteps left by Taehyung but for goodness sake, Taehyung’s a human not a monster, how the hell would he be leaving foot prints?
Luckily, it was still drizzling and the sky has gone a little brighter. Suga scanned the surrounding thoroughly and not spot a single soul there. “Oh no, Kim Taehyung, where are you?” he mumbled nervously as he broke into a sprint.
“Oh right, he must be looking for Pokemons then!” that gave Suga an idea as he quickly opened his Pokemon Go app. Indeed, there were a few Pokestops in the area, Taehyung must have been following these stops!
Having his new clue, Suga followed the route on the map. He wasn’t interested in Pokemon Go since day one, but it was Taehyung who was bugging him day and night, telling him how fun the game was. The younger boy even taught Suga some tips but Suga was just too lazy to go out and catch ’em all.
Noticing a lonely figure from afar under the tree, Suga shouted, “Taehyung! Taehyung ah! Kim Taehyung!”
The initially falling asleep Taehyung was awaken by that shout. It sounded familiar. He opened his eyes wide to see his hyung running towards him frantically. “Hyung!” he shouted back before running forward.
Coming to a stop in front of each other, the younger boy looked at his hyung brightly before uttering softly, “Why are you here hyung?”
“I should be the one asking you!”
“You said there’s a lot of rare Pokemons here hyung, I listened to you and…”
“So it’s my fault?”
“Aniyo aniyo hyung!” Taehyung quickly answered before hugging Suga’s arm, “it’s my fault, I should have got lost.”
“Exactly! I even missed my movie because of you…”
“How…how about Soyeon? Weren’t you having a date with her?”
“Uhh about that…I told her I got something important to attend to…”
“Jinja?” Taehyung smiled embarrassingly, “Aww that’s that mean I’m more important~?”
“Maybe, I can always watch the movie another time…”
“How about me and Soyeon? Who’s more important hyung?”
“YAH! What’s with this question?”
“Just answer me hyung! Who’s more important?” he whined as he stared at the older one with his puppy eyes.
“Of course it’s yo- I…I refuse to answer.”
“Wae yo~”
“One is my friend and one is my…crush…” Suga’s voice trailed off and his face turned redder.
“So am I being friend-zone or crush-zone?”
“Hmm…the latter one,” Suga replied with an almost inaudible voice.
“The later one?”
“Aishhh! Kim Taehyung! Are you serious? Are you dumb or dumb?”
“Hehe hyung, you’re the one who’s dumb! The two options are both ‘dumb’!!”
“AHHHHH!” Suga groaned as he clenched his fist, “I’ll soon have a heart attack while talking to you.”
“I’ll do CRP on you then!”
“Don’t you dare Kim Taehyung…”
“I’ll just do the mouth-to-mouth part if you want~” Taehyung winked.
Disclaimer: Firstly, Soyeon is just a random name I came up, I’m not referring to any Soyeon idol. And sorry to those who don’t play Pokemon Go and don’t really understand some of the terms inside!! But I’m pretty sure Bangtan plays it too!
