A J-hope x Rap Monster story…
The school bell went off, signaling the end of school. Without a word, all the students in class, who were previously either snoozing off or secretly using their phones under their table, immediately cheered.
Despite warnings from the teachers with “Lesson does not end at the cue of the school bell, lesson ends when I SAY SO”, students still ignore it and went on to pack their bags.
“Okay that’s the end of the lesson,” Mr Min, their Chemistry teacher, said, “There is no homework for today. I am giving you guys time to study for your final exams which starts next week.”
Everyone nodded half-heartedly as they stood up and thanked Mr Min.
J-hope, who just got a satisfying one hour sleep, stood up and stretched. At this moment, his phone screen went on with a Kakao talk notification.
Jimin: Hyung!! Wanna study in the library today?
“Library?” J-hope rolled his eyes and shook his head.
J-hope: No thanks friend.
Jimin: But finals are around the corner.
J-hope: So? I’m gonna let nature takes its course anyway.
Jimin: Andwae!! Your umma specifically ask me to ensure that you pass the exams this time round.
J-hope: It’s not gonna happen.
Jimin: Hellooo! She even hired me to be your maths tutor. It’s my job to force you to study, my friend.
J-hope: …
Jimin: She’s gonna kick you out of the house if you don’t study…
J-hope: Fine. Where to meet you?
Jimin: Yay! At the school library!!
J-hope: Arraso, but let me grab a sandwich first.
Sometimes, J-hope really question his choice of friends. Out of hundred boys in this school, he chose to befriend a nerd, a hardcore student called Park Jimin. Hadn’t they share a common interest in dancing, J-hope would have long disown this friend of his who only calls him out for a study session and not to hang out.
Finishing his last bite of sandwich, J-hope stood outside the library. “This is the heaven for nerds, and hell for people like me,” he uttered under his breath.
Still, he stepped into the place he called hell. Indeed, every single table passed by, they are all occupied with students with black rim glasses, their uniforms buttoned all the way up, smartass people.
From far, he spotted Jimin. He was sitting on a table with four chairs, sharing the table with two other guys. Jimin looked up and waved to him, while mouthing “here”.
J-hope nodded his head as he made his way to the table. He sat on the empty chair opposite Jimin and threw his bag on the ground.
“You’re here!” Jimin smiled.
“Ne.”
“You don’t mind sharing a table with them, right?”
“No, not really.”
“Oh wait, let me introduce.”
J-hope turned his head and looked at the guy beside Jimin.
“This is Jin, my classmate. And the one opposite him, beside you, is Namjoon. He is Jin’s boy- friend.”
The name ‘Namjoon’ struck J-hope’s heart immediately. ‘No, it’s not him…’ he thought in his mind as he slowly turn to his right.
Namjoon, who was initially scrolling his phone, also looked up.
Their eyes met, and stopped their for quite a while. Everything seemed to freeze all of a sudden, including J-hope’s heart.
It’s…him. No wait, why is it him? Why- why is it him out of soooo many people? Why do I need to sit beside him?
Namjoon, on the other hand, was also shocked, but quickly recovered and uttered a soft “hi”.
J-hope’s mouth was half opened, but no words came out. His movements stopped, his heart beat stopped, his breathing stopped too…until Jimin interrupted by saying, “He’s Hoseok, but he likes people to call him J-hope”.
Jin: Oh hi. I’m Jin, and this is my boy…erm, friend, Namjoon.
J-hope: H….hi.
Jin: You’re from class…?
J-hope: Err…3-05.
Jin: Oh. I’m in the same class as Jimin; while Namjoon is in class 3-02.
J-hope: I know.
“Huh? You know?” Jin asked with his eyes wide opened.
“Oh, I mean, erm…nice to meet you,” J-hope quickly explained before taking a quick peek at Namjoon.
Namjoon was actually pretty awkward there. Unknowingly scratching the back of his neck and pretending to use his phone.
Soon, everyone got back to studying, in silence. J-hope took out his textbook and flipped to a random page. None of that make sense to him, but well of course, it’s maths. Although looking intently at the book, he was actually questioning himself in his mind.
“What should I do now? Why do I need to sit beside Namjoon?!? It has been like five months…?”
J-hope let out a sigh as he closed his eyes, recalling what happened five months ago…
In an all-boys school, it’s common to see guys dating each other. J-hope does not belong to the nerd category, and naturally he would have want to experience some romance in high school.
He and Namjoon met in a party, just a small celebration organised by their common friend in the hostel. They developed interest in each other, talked to each other, and somehow spent the night with each other.
Namjoon did not wait long to make J-hope his, and quickly called the just-a-few-months-older boy his boyfriend. That’s Namjoon – straightforward, not afraid to show his feelings – that’s why J-hope fell for him, badly.
And maybe because of his out-going personality, Namjoon attracted quite a few other guys. Namjoon talks to him, go out with them, till the extent that he forgot he has a boyfriend.
“You always smile at them!” J-hope would complain.
“What’s wrong with smiling? It’s just courtesy…” Namjoon argued.
“They’re interested in you, don’t you know?!?”
“Yea so what? They know I have a boyfriend…”
“Do you even treat me as a boyfriend?”
“I think you need to chill.”
“I think we need to break up.”
Yup, that’s it, there goes their relationship. Ever since that day, they did not talk. Namjoon did not try to salvage it, mainly because J-hope chose to skip school for a good whole month after the break-up. And when J-hope return to school and tried to act normal, Jimin told him his ex has already moved on.
Initially, J-hope was pretty upset, how can Namjoon act like nothing actually happened and carried on with his life. But until he received a card on his birthday, from Namjoon, with a “Sorry” right in the middle.
J-hope forgave him, but that doesn’t mean they can be friends now. He tried to avoid Namjoon, but god just want to watch some drama on this very day…
At this moment, a pencil flew across the table and hit accurately on J-hope’s forehead. He came back to reality and stared blankly.
“Yah, stop day-dreaming friend,” Jimin reminded, “Focus.”
J-hope rubbed his eyes and nodded his head insincerely. I took a quick look at the other two guys beside them – Jin was secretly giggling, while Namjoon was too concentrated on his work.
J-hope held the pencil and began scribbling. Punching the calculator and playing with the numbers, he found himself capable to solving the first question! Excitedly, he quickly write down his workings.
While scribbling, his arm accidentally touch Namjoon’s arm. He quickly retract it upon the touch. Probably making it too obvious, Jin and Namjoon immediately turn to look at him.
“Aniyo, nothing,” J-hope lied before tilting his body slightly away, to the left.
However, despite that, while doing his work, he would still occasionally make body contact with Namjoon. Their hands would accidentally rub against each other, sometime their elbows. Initially J-hope was pretty uncomfortable with that, but he slowly treat it as nothing very serious. Namjoon, on the other hand, did not overreact, unlike what J-hope did, instead, he wasn’t affected at all, still quietly doing his stuff.
J-hope felt his phone vibration as a notification popped out on the screen. It showed, “Namjoon” with a heart-shape beside. Damn, he must have forgotten to change his name ever since their break-up.
He clicked it and read the message. “Is he your new boyfriend?”
J-hope immediately look at Namjoon, who is now pretending to write something with his other hand holding onto his phone. Namjoon avoided the eye contact, despite knowing that his ex is staring blankly at him.
J-hope squeezed his brows before replying, “Who?”
RM: Jimin.
JH: Aniyo. Why did you ask?
RM: Just…curious.
JH: Then how about you? You and Jin are…together?
RM: …Ne.
JH: …
JH: Last long
With that, J-hope locked his phone and threw it into his bag. He placed his arm on the table, rested his head on it, and turned his body away from Namjoon. Was that the end of their first interaction in three months? J-hope thought so.
30 minutes later, Jimin stood up and said, “I need to get something from my locker.”
“Oh, me too!” Jin replied.
With that, both of them exited the library, leaving the two other guys there. J-hope was too focused on his work to find that they are actually alone now.
“Need help?”
J-hope immediately turned around to see Namjoon staring at him expectantly.
“A-aniyo,” he stuttered.
“But you have been staring at the question for five minutes?”
“I just…” J-hope paused and raised his eyebrows, “Wait, you were looking at me?”
“Huh?” Namjoon was obviously taken aback by this question, “I…err…just…urgh, ne.”
“Wae yo?”
“Just…kinda curious what you’re doing.”
“Oh.”
“Anyway, just let me teach you, that is such a simple question,” Namjoon chuckled as he shifted his chair closer to J-hope.
“So, you’re supposed to sketch a figure using the dimensions the question provide,” Namjoon explained as he leaned closer. “So, you must first draw two horizontal lines.”
Following the instructions, J-hope took out his ruler and drew on the paper. “Like that?” he asked.
“Aniyo! Those are vertical lines!”
Without thinking much, Namjoon went over and held onto both of J-hope’s hands. He then wrap his hands over J-hope’s and guide him.
J-hope became tense upon the contact of their hands and after feeling his back against Namjoon’s chest. This distance between them is too close for comfort.
After pulling the pencil across the paper, Namjoon did not move away. Instead, he rested his chin on J-hope’s shoulder and whispered, “You smell nice.”
J-hope immediately cringe after hearing that, and probably too shock to push the younger one away. “T-thanks?”
“You still smell the same.”
“You still…remember?”
“Ne, and remember how I love to bite your ears last time?”
“N-ne.”
“And make love marks on your neck?”
“It’s all in the past Namjoon.”
“But I miss the good old times…”
J-hope couldn’t stand the cheesiness anymore. He pushed Namjoon away with much force and try to breath normally. Positioning his eyes on his book instead of his ex, J-hope uttered, “You have moved on, and so did I. We shouldn’t keep thinking about the past.”
“Not even for a moment, with you?”
“You have a boyfriend now Namjoon…”
“But I-“
At this moment, the younger one spotted his two friends entering the library with books in their hands. Namjoon quickly pull back his chair and acted like nothing happened. Was that the end of their conversation? Namjoon thought so.
Ten minutes later…
Suddenly, Namjoon took one of his pens and purposely roll it on the ground. “Oops, I dropped my pen,” he commented.
The pen nicely roll in between J-hope’s chair and hit his shoes.
“Erm,” Namjoon nudged his arm, “can you help me pick up that?”
J-hope immediately stare at Namjoon with his pair of big eyes. He frowned his face and mouthed a “huh”. Namjoon and J-hope quickly take a quick pick at the other two guys opposite them who were looking and smiled awkwardly.
“O-okay,” J-hope replied as he bent down to grab it.
However, before he could place the pen on the table, Namjoon grabbed his hands tightly and stationed it under the table. That earn him another judging stare from J-hope.
Namjoon simply bit his lips and pretend to be thinking about his question despite struggling hard to hold onto J-hope’s hand under the table.
After much pulling-and-grabbing, Namjoon managed to intertwine their fingers.
“WTF are you doing Namjoon?!?” J-hope screamed in his mind in frustration although gradually relaxing his fingers.
As if Namjoon could hear what he said in his mind, the younger one simply write a “Don’t move and we’ll be fine” with his right hand on the edge of his book.
J-hope frowned, and felt how Namjoon’s fingers were rubbing the back of his hand. He took a peek at Jin, who was concentrating on his work. “What should I do now…?” he thought.
Namjoon did not stop fidgeting with their fingers. And by now, J-hope wasn’t struggling anymore. Instead, he pressed their palms tighter against each other. He wasn’t in his right mind anymore, and he didn’t really care.
Saying that he doesn’t have any single feelings for Namjoon is a big fat lie, because in actual fact, they didn’t even have a proper break up. At that time, it was just one jealous boyfriend breaking up with someone who was not sensitive enough to win him back.
On the other hand, to Namjoon, having this kind of secret affair was his kind of thing. He like how thrilling the situation is and at anytime when either of the two boys look under the table, J-hope and him would be in deep shit. It was fun, he thought.
And to make things more interesting, and probably even satisfy his hormones, an idea popped out in Namjoon’s head. He smirked, before looking at J-hope and said, “Having a hard time down there, J-hope ssi?”
“Huh?” J-hope looked at him blankly, and noticed how Namjoon was pointing to his thigh. J-hope’s eyes immediately expanded when he saw how a pitched tent was formed down there.
“Let me help you with that,” Namjoon chuckled as he stood up and pulled his ex away from the table, heading straight to the bathroom.
J-hope was too shocked to resist, and all he did was witness the blank faces from Jin and Jimin.
Slamming the older one against the bathroom door, Namjoon lifted up his chin and whispered seductively, “I miss you, Hoseok.”
J-hope tried to back away but no, there wasn’t any space to push his body further. His body was trembling, due to Namjoon’s lustful gaze. Beads of sweat were forming on his forehead. Tons of questions were forming in his head, “Is this really happening? Damn, what should I do? Push him away? Hell no! But then…he has a boyfriend…we shouldn’t be doing this…right?”
“W-what do you want Namjoon?” he stuttered.
“I want you.”
“Me? Or my body?”
“I’ll say, both.”
