•Chapter 8•
“Yo, Scotty. Hey, yo, Scotty?” Stiles says trying to get Scott’s attention. He is definitely in pain. Why did he come. If I was in such pain I would stay in bed for about 2 weeks. “You still with me?” Stiles asks.
He went with Derek and Isaac to fight the alphas, I was also supposed to go but Stiles locked me inside a freaking room for about 2 to 3 hours.
Yeah, I was still pissed, or acted like it.
And right now, we are in a bus in our way to a meeting, according to coach.
“Yeah – sorry, what’s the word?” Scott asks finally opening his eyes.
“Anachronism.” Stiles says. He looks at me wondering if I have an answer.
“Is it something about spiders?” I ask not making eye contact with him, it’s really hard to pretend being mad, especially since I know that Stiles only locked me inside that room for my own safety.
“Nope.” Stiles says. “Scott?”
“Uh – Something that exists out of its normal time.” Scott says.
“Nice. Okay, next word… ‘incongruous’.” Stiles says while going through his phone in a dictionary.
“uhm – can you use it in a sentence?” Scott asks.
Getting full of all this words, I pick up my phone and plug in my headphones, I unlock my phone, searching through the little amount of songs I had in my phone and put on a Shawn Mendes song called ‘Life of the Party’ which is one of my favourite from him.
I block everything out and close my eyes, just focusing on the lyrics and the rhythm.
I definitely need to use this tactic more often.
I open my eyes after what felt like hours, I look to my best friends and Scott is showing a huge red mark on his belly. I take out my headphones and look at it clearly.
“What the hell is that?” I ask.
“Shush, Dayton.” Scott says before covering the huge mark.
“I know it looks back but it’s because it is from an Alpha. It’ll take longer to heal.” Scott says while resting his head on the glass next to him.
“Then how comes Boyd and Isaac are fine?” Stiles asks.
“Maybe they are acting like they are fine.” I speak up getting Stiles’ attention. “You know – sometimes people act like they are okay just so that they don’t worry the people they care about – or maybe because they are pissed and try to maintain being calm otherwise they will just lash out on one of the most important people in their life.” I say.
“Hm – Are you talking about them or – you?” Stiles says grinning. I hate when he does that.
I shake my head and roll my eyes before placing my headphones back in my ears. But they are quickly taken off.
“Hey!” I say rather loudly.
“Can you talk to me please – I’m bored and I feel like I f – messed up but I don’t know why. Why are you mad?” Stiles asks.
“I’m disappointed, it’s different from being mad.” I say.
“Yeah – why?” He asks.
“Let’s see – you locked me in a room and totally left me without food for about approximately 2 to 3 hours and also bored out of my life.” I say. “That’s not a reason to be disappointed is it?” I ask sarcastically.
“Well – I guess – anyways, I only did that to save you, you could have a red claw across your belly just like Scotty’s.” He says.
“I guess – thanks.” I say. “Sorry for being an annoying wanker.” I say making him chuckle.
“Cool.” He says.
I guess that’s out of the way.
*
“McCall, not you too?” Coach asks.
“No, Coach, I’m good.” Scott says, his face showing extreme pain. Poor guy.
“Hey, Scott you’re bleeding again, and don’t tell me that it’s taking longer to heal, okay? Because I’m pretty sure that still bleeding means not healing, like, at all.” Stiles says.
“He’s listening.” Scott says. I look at the same place that Scott is looking at to see Ethan which seems to be listening to us indeed.
“Is he going to do something?” Stiles says.
“Nah – not in front of this many people. I hope. He wouldn’t be that dumb.” I say.
“Okay, well, what about the two ticking time bombs sitting right near him?” Stiles wonders about Isaac and Boyd.
“No, they won’t. Not here.” Scott says.
“What if they do?” I ask. “Will you stop them?” I ask Scott once again.
“If I have to, yes.” Scott says.
*
Out of nowhere, I notice Boyd’s hands starting to change, his nails start to grow.
I get up and start walking up, Stiles touches my hand making me look back.
“Where are you going?” Stiles asks me.
“I think Boyd is going to do something.” I say looking back at Boyd’s hand which is still the same.
“I’m going.” Scott says standing up.
“No you’re not.” I say. “You can barely walk.”
Scott nods before, I look back and start walking slowly towards both boys.
I kneel down next to them, hoping that Coach won’t notice me. I place my hand in top of Boyd’s. I look into Boyd’s eyes to see his eyes are yellow.
“Let go.” Boyd says angrily.
“What are you going to do? Kill them in front of everybody? Now, wouldn’t that be great for everyone?” I ask. “Tell me your brilliant plan. Come on – tell me and I’ll let you go.” I say. “You’re gonna kill him and then what? What’s gonna happen after that?” I ask.
“I don’t care.” Boyd says.
“Well, I do and so does Scott.” I say making both turn around to look at Scott.
“What’s wrong with him?” Isaac asks.
“He’s still hurt. He hasn’t healed.” I say getting Boyd’s attention who seemed to calm down finally.
“Give Scott a chance to figure something out, something that doesn’t end with someone else dying.” I say looking at both.
“Okay.” Boyd says.
“Dayton, to your seat!” Coach shouts and I quickly stand up and start making my way back.
“Sorry, Coach.” I say as I sit down on my seat next to Stiles.
“Crisis averted?” Stiles asks me.
“Yeah – totally.” I say.
“Good, we got another problem. Ethan keeps checking his phone, like, every five minutes. It’s like he’s waiting for something, you know, like a message or a signal of some kind. I don’t know – something evil though, I can tell.” Stiles says. “I have a very perceptive eye for evil, but you know that.” Stiles finishes.
“Or maybe you are just paranoid? No?” I ask making him look at me like he wants to kill me and shakes his head before looking back at Ethan.
“I don’t like him sitting with Danny.” Scott says.
“Me neither.” I say.
I look to my right to see Stiles looking at me.
“What?” I ask in which he shakes his head before going on his phone.
I hear messages coming in.
“What exactly are you doing?” I ask Stiles.
“Asking Danny for information.” He says.
“Do you think he’s gonna give you it?” I ask. “Actually? He likes the guy, Stiles.” I say.
“Still.” He says sticking his tongue out while answering a text.
*
Danny ended up telling Stiles what Ethan was texting about and apparently it is about someone, which we believe is Ennis, is dying.
Now, Stily boy is trying to persuade Coach to stop at a shop nearby for a rest.
I need one, Scott needs one, gosh I think everyone needs one. I’m annoyed and Stiles is not being very successful.
“Stilinski! Shut it! Seriously! It’s a little bus! Stop asking me question.” Coach shouts and I could see the annoyance in Stiles’ face.
He turns back and comes back to his seat before placing a hand on his face. Shame.
“I hate him.” Stiles says. “Did you call Deaton?” Stiles asks.
“I keep getting his voicemail.” Scott says clearly still in pain.
“That’s it, I’m calling Lydia and Allison.” Stiles says digging his pocket to pull out his phone and unlocking it.
“What can they do in Beacon Hills?” I ask.
“They’re not. They have been following us for hours.” Stiles says looking back at the following cars behind us. “Pathetic.” Stiles says.
He hits dial and places the phone next to his ear and awaits for a response.
“I know you guys are right behind us. Put me on speaker.” Stiles says to the phone. “Okay, look Scott is still hurt.”
“No, he’s not healing. I think he’s actually getting worse.” Stiles says to the phone. “The blood’s turning into this – black color.” He says. “What’s wrong with him? I don’t – does it look like I have a PhD in lycanthropy? How am I supposed to know that?” Stiles asks getting frustrated.
He just looks really adorable when he’s angry. Like this hamster trying to get his food. What a cutie.
“Yeah – I’ve been trying.” Stiles says still in the phone. “Have you met this guy?” He asks before turning off the call.
“So?” I ask.
“She wants me to find a solution so I have to talk to Coach once again.” He says letting out a sigh before standing up and walking towards Coach.
*
“Coach, it’s five minuts for a bathroom break, okay?” Stiles says. “We’ve been on this thing for, like, three hours –” He says but is interrupted by a whistle. “It’s like 60 miles to the next rest spot-” He starts being interrupted again by the same whistle. “Being cooped up for hours is not good-” Interrupted by the whistle.
This is getting annoying to me and I am not even apart of the conversation.
“You know – our bladders aren’t exactly-” He says before being once again interrupted by the whistle.
“Coach this is-” Whistle. “Can you-” Whistle. “Please-” Whistle. “Let me talk-” Stiles says getting clearly frustrated before the sound of the annoying whistle gets inside my ears once again. “Every time-” Stiles talks but is agaaaaain interrupted by the bloody whistle.
“Get back to your seat, Stilinski.” Coach says.
“Okay!” Stiles shouts. Again, look at the angry hamster. Gosh I just want to hug him right now. What an adorable puff.
“Jared keep your eyes on the horizon.” Coach says to a kid who keeps wanting to vomit. Stiles looks back and quickly takes a seat next to Jared.
Oh god, what’s gonna happen. I look at Scott and he looks at me with a knowing look.
*
Stiles got Jared to vomit. What a legend. Now, we were forced to stop at the place that Stiles was talking about. Lydia and Allison are already here and we are dragging Scott inside one of the bathrooms.
Once inside, we put Scott on the floor gently, he definitely looks worse as he can barely keep his eyes open.
“I hope no one comes in.” I say looking at the door.
“Why didn’t you tell us.” Allison asks an almost passed out Scott.
“Sorry.” He mumbles out quickly making me feel bad for the dude.
“Okay just give us a second.” Allison says kneeling down next to Scott and ripping his shirt open. “This shouldn’t be happening. I have seen him healing from worst then this.” Allison says. True.
“Okay – what do we do? Do we just call an ambulance?” Stiles asks.
“What if it’s too late?” I ask.
“We gotta do something.” Stiles says worried about his friend as I look at him with pity. I also don’t want anything to happen to Scott.
“You know, It could be psychological.” Lydia says. True, it can be. He thinks Derek is dead.
“Yeah.” I say looking down.
“What do you mean like Psychosomatic?” Stiles asks the strawberry blonde.
“Somatoformic.” Lydia says a word that I don’t even recognise.
“Som-” I start.
“A physical illness from a psychogenic cause.” Lydia says.
“It’s all in his head.” I mumble.
“All in his head?” Stiles asks looking at me. “Because of Derek. He’s not letting himself heal ’cause Derek died.” Stiles says making me nod. That’s it.
“So what do we do?” Allison asks.
“Stitch him up.” Lydia says bringing out scissors and some paper to cover up the wound. Basically, everything that is needed. We look at Lydia like she is crazy. “I’m serious. Maybe all he needs to do is just believe it’s healing.” Lydia says, She’s actually so smart. I am so proud.
“She’s right.” I say, picking up everything from Lydia’s hands and handing it to Allison who is worriedly looking at Scott.
“He’s gonna need another shirt. Where’s his bag?” Allison asks.
“Um – I’m gonna get it. I hate needles anyway – uh do you know what you’re doing?” Stiles asks.
“Yeah – my father taught me.” Allison says while getting ready to start.
“I mean, how fast, like the bus could leave.” Stiles says.
“Just make sure it doesn’t leave.” I say kneeling down next to Allison to help her.
“I can help with that.” Lydia says.
“Dayton?” Stiles asks looking at me. I look at him before answering.
“I’m staying, she might need some help.” I say before he nods and goes out the bathroom door.
*
“I’m tired.” Scott says.
“Scott, just keep your eyes open.” I say.
“Just look at me, Scott. Come on, come on.” She says making him open his eyes to look at us.
Allison starts trying to thread a needle. She is shaking and struggling.
“Need help?” I ask.
“I can do this.” She says determined.
“I’m trying.” She says out of nowhere. “My hands won’t stop shaking.” She says. Who is she talking to?
“Just breath, Allison.” I say. She takes a deep breath.
She tries again but is struggling still. She starts to cry and lets out a big cry.
“Allison.” I say.
“Clinically.” Allison says. “And Unemotional – and Unemotionally.” Allison says. She’s speaking with her mother.
She tries again.
“Breath, Allison.” I say trying to show support.
She is quickly able to do it and a smile is shown on her face. I smile and let out a sigh.
I place my hand on Scott’s chest, helping Allison so that she gets more space to do it.
“Stay with us, Scott. Stay with us.” Allison says. Slapping his cheek slowly, making him slowly open his eyes. He is really weak and it makes me sad.
Allison is able to do it.
“Okay, okay.” Allison says with a smile.
“Good job.” I say. I look at Scott and he is dead silent.
“Scott?” Allison asks.
“Scott.” I ask.
Allison brings her face closer to his chest trying to see any notice of a heartbeat.
Come on, Scott.
“Anything?” I ask.
“Scott – scott.” She mumbles. “Scott!” She says louder as the tears and fear of my best friend dying star to take over.
Scott wakes up and breathes like he just ran a marathon.
“It’s my fault.” He lets out.
“Scott. Hey, it’s okay.” I say as he nods.
“Did you do that?” He asks Allison.
“Yeah.” Allison says, I smile at one of my favourite couple moment.
“Can you stand?” Allison says, as we both help him stand. “Okay, put this on.” Allison says. While pulling a shirt through Scott.
We help him walk outside, each in each arm.
“Is he okay, Are you okay?” Lydia asks Scott.
“Yeah.” Scott says.
“Where’s Stiles?” I ask.
“Trying to stall coach. Which still doesn’t have gas.”
“I’m not leaving him.” Allison says towards Lydia.
“Then, we have to leave the car.” Lydia says.
“Sounds good.” Allison says. True love right there.
“What, that wasn’t an exact suggestion. – Allison!” Lydia says staying back.
I hear the sound of fighting.
I look up to see Isaac and the twin fighting in the floor.
“Stiles-” I say getting Stiles attention.
“What’s happening, Stiles?” Scott asks as he seems to have gotten better.
“They went after him. I told ’em what was happening with you and they just went after him.” Stiles says.
“Who, Boyd?” I ask.
“Isaac, Isaac, Isaac!” I hear coach shout as students are surrounding the place. “Back off! Stop!” Coach says trying to stop both individuals.
“Isaac!” Scott shouts and that makes Isaac stop instantly.
After everything is calmed down, we go back on the bus. I sit next to Stiles while Lydia, Scott and Allison sit down behind us.
“So, lets go over this one more time. So it’s the sacrifices, right? Everything has to do with them and someone who thinks he’s like a dark druid of some kind.” Stiles says.
“Or actually is a dark druid.” I say.
“A Darach.” Stiles says making me think back to the test papers in Mr Harris’ class.
“You know – some ancient cultures sacrificed people in preparation for battle.” I say.
“So we got Alpha werewolves against a dark druid.” Stiles says.
“Yep.” I say.
Before we just talk about random stuff through out the whole journey. Long one might I add. I think I might have slept.
