Hyeori was interrupted from her studies by a hand on her shoulder, the girl looked up, noticing one of her classmates, who was pointing out the scene between Sieun and YeonBing, frowning, she sigh, sometimes she would get bored having to watch the discussions of both boys.
—Can’t that idiot stop getting into trouble? — She murmured, before hearing an annoyed growl from her boyfriend behind her. Sooho opened his eyes and noticed how his girlfriend’s attention was in another direction and not on her book, looking at the scene in front of his eyes, he complained.
—Why are you so noisy? I’m trying to sleep and my girlfriend is trying to study. Can you be quiet? Please? — The boy made a sound in his throat before seeing YeonBing’s group walking away from Sieun. Stroking Hyeori’s shoulder, Sooho laid his head on the pillow again. — Go back to studying, darling.
…
Hyeori was giving the final review of her notes in her notebook, today was the day of the exam she was preparing herself for and she wanted to be quite prepared for it, even if she was not going to do it since she had no plans to study in Korea.
Sooho was in the seat next to her, with his head lying on the pillow again, even though she couldn’t see him, she knew his eyes were on her, she could feel the boy’s strong gaze on her cheek, however, that didn’t bother her, she had gotten used to that action.
Minutes later, the test began, after giving the packet of papers to Sieun who was behind her, she began with the questions of her exam, answering them with ease, giving a look at Sooho, who had leaned on the paper, the girl laughed a little and shook her head before continuing with her thing.
That was until a noise made her stop, just after a weight on her shoulder made her look to her side, looking at the hand, her eyes went up to its owner, frowning at the sight of Sieun, he looked dizzy, and like his eyes were fighting not to close. The girl got worried and just when she was going to touch his hand and get up to help him, he turned around with some difficulty and left the room, drawing the attention of everyone in the place. Hyeori looked at Sooho, who was looking at the scene confused before shrugging his shoulders and pointing his chin at the test in front of her, telling her to get on with her work, which she did, though something inside her made her feel worried about her classmate’s state.
A few minutes later, Sieun returned, however, he already looked better and Hyeori didn’t pay much more attention to him, concentrating on her exam, that was until a few minutes after his arrival, a sound made her jump like everyone else, It had been heard like a slap.
The girl turned around, looking at Sieun with some surprise as she saw how he slap his own cheek again and again, making it immediately turn red. — Sieun…— She murmured, he stopped, sighing, looking at her before leaning on his desk.
— No problem. —He said before returning to his exam.
Hyeori looked at him for a second, noticing how swollen his cheek was due to his strong slaps on it, the girl nodded before looking at him one last time and returning to her exam, shaking her head to clear it and get the previous scene out of her head.
It had been too strange.
…
Hyeori’s hands carried a small cold cloth as she walked back to the classroom, Sooho had fallen asleep again and she took the opportunity to go to the infirmary, Sieun’s cheek was making her nervous, she couldn’t stop thinking about the great red spot on the boy’s warm skin.
That was why once she approached his desk, the girl handed him the cloth, the boy just looked at her, with that same almost bored look as always, Hyeori smiled. — Here, it’s swelling. — She pointed to her own cheek, moving the cloth in her hand, the boy just looked at the object, Hyeori blinked, sighing when she saw that he wasn’t going to take it, she approached him, putting it on his cheek gently and careful not to hurt more the boy’s irritated skin. — No, don’t take it off. —The girl scolded a little, moving the boy’s hand away, which wanted to remove the cloth from his face.
He saw the girl’s pretty eyes, noticing how she was looking at the equation he had in his notebook while his hand was still on his cheek. She took a chair that was free so she could sit in front of him, on the other side of the desk, holding the cloth, she leaned on the table. — Continue with your equation. — She pointed out, the boy looked at her for a second before lowering his gaze, returning to her activities.
As strange as it may seem, the girl’s company did not bother him, it was somewhat uncomfortable because he could not remember a single time in which she had approached him in that way, but he knew that she did not do it with any other intentions than to see for his well-being, it was something typical of Hyeori, she was known for that, although she did not put her own safety at risk for others’, she always tried to offer her help in what she believed was necessary, and for her, a classmate, which, in some way, she appreciated too much, was something worthwhile.
— Where’s Hyeori? — Sooho’s voice was heard in the girl’s ears, she looked on her boyfriend’s direction, noticing how his eyes were half-closed due to the sudden awakening of his brain, noticing the girl’s location, he looked at the action with confusion, his body relaxed when he saw that it was Sieun who was being the receptor of such attention from the girl. —Will you wake me up for lunch? — The boy asked in a sweet voice, which made the others in the room complain when they heard such a tone from the tall boy directed at his girlfriend.
Envious. Sooho said to himself before seeing Hyeori, who was smiling brightly, noticing how she nodded and how she motioned for him to go back to sleep. He, wanting to bother the others, smiled, blowing the girl a kiss. – I love you.
The moans became louder and that made Sooho laugh before he laid his head back on the pillow and closed his eyes, falling asleep instantly, this time, with a small smile on his face.
…
After Hyeori had seen the swelling disappear, the girl returned to her seat, leaving the cloth on the boy’s table, in case he ever needed it.
Another knock was hear in the room while everyone was reviewing their own exams, everything became silent again, heads turned to look for the source of the noise.
Yeon Sieun, again.
Hyeori frowned curiously at that, despite not having him around, she knew that the boy was angry, it could be seen in his tense back and shoulders. Hyeori tilted her head a little as she saw him get up from his seat and walk decisively to the end of the room, putting a hand to her mouth as she saw how he hit YeonBing with a book right in the face and how one of the boys from the boy’s group screamed in pain while holding his hand.
Sieun had stuck a pen in his hand.
— Uhh…— Sooho’s voice was heard in her ears, but Hyeori could simply watch as Sieun hit YeonBing with the book, he seemed so upset that even his blows were so precise. She never thought that he would be able to do it, however, those thoughts were erased when her eyes saw the angry boy’s next action.
He rolled the curtain around the tallest boy’s face, with some force, obstructing his breathing, and along with that, he began to hit his face with the book again, this time, he seemed to be more blinded by anger and confusion held in his body.
Hyeori was going to get up when she saw how YeonBing stopped fighting and responding to the blows that the boy was giving her, however, Sooho’s hand stopped her, looking at him, she noticed how he had a frown, almost looking at her in disbelief, thinking that it was foolish for her to put herself in danger at that moment, he knew that Sieun wouldn’t hurt her, but at that moment he wasn’t so sure, not seeing him engulfed in fury. — He’s going to kill him, Sooho.
— Sit down. — The boy ordered, struggling with her to stop her trying to get her hand out of his grasp, the boy stopped suddenly, taking her shoulders and using a little force to make her sit down. —Hyeori. Sit down.
— Sooho, please, he’s going to kill him. — The boy looked over his shoulder, noticing how YeonBing fell to the ground, everyone in the room looked at the scene with horror, even more so when they saw the boy’s face.
Sieun had practically crushed his nose with that math book.
Sooho gave his girlfriend a look before turning around and walking towards Sieun, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt before throwing him back as he saw how he was going to kick YeonBing’s face with his foot.
Sieun fell to the ground, hitting his body against some tables in the process. — It’s enough. Don’t try to cross the line.
Sieun stood up, looking with disbelief mixed with annoyance at Sooho, who simply looked at him with a small smile. — Who do you think you are?
— Me? A guardian angel whose nap you just ruined. — The boy joked, trying to relieve the tension in the atmosphere, laughing tenderly before seeing his girlfriend, she shook her head with some fear, Sieun really seemed upset at the moment, if he had hit Yeonbing like that, it was no time to to joke
— Does it seem funny to you?
— It was supposed to be a joke, so yeah.
Hyeori stood up when she saw how Sieun threw his pencil case towards Sooho’s face, scared that he might poke out his eye, however, fear settled in her when she saw him lift his own chair and run towards her boyfriend with this. Knowing that she couldn’t do anything right now, the only thing she did was ask for Sooho to shut his mouth, not say anything stupid, and to stop the legs of that chair from hitting his pretty face while she ran to the, almost fainted, boy into the ground, pulling him a little so that he would not be a victim of more violent events.
— Calm down, lunatic, I could really hit you. — The boy did not seem to understand, swinging the chair towards the taller again, Sooho, already tired, punched him in the face, making him lose his balance and drop the chair in the process.
The boy stood up, somewhat disoriented, but still furious at what the taller boy had just done, looking at him with those big round eyes. —Who are you to give me orders? — Sooho smiled, with an immense desire to answer him, until he remembered his girlfriend’s warning look, remaining silent, giving Sieun the opportunity to take another chair again, which did not reach its destination due to the teacher’s yell.
— What’s going on here!? — Everyone’s attention flew to the woman, and Hyeori sighed in relief as she saw the teacher’s annoyed gaze fall on them, looking down to see Yeonbing on her lap, she was trying to stop his nose from bleeding so much, but without putting much pressure, afraid of finally removing the bone from his nose.
— Put that down! — Sooho’s yell made everyone look at him with confusion. — What do you think you’re doing? Ah, Damn… Miss. I was trying to stop my classmate from fighting, he almost hit me with that chair. I’m sorry. — The boy bowed before seeing Sieun out of the corner of his eye, pointing at the woman. — Apologize to her. — The boy remained silent, looking at him seriously and almost in disbelief before he opened his eyes in warning. — Fast!
Hyeori complained, calling her boyfriend’s name, who walked away from Sieun, ordering him to sit in his chair while he was laughing at all the scene he had caused. — Sooho.
— The guardian angel joke was funny. Admit it.
…
Hyeori put Jax’s food bowl on the floor when the front door rang, calling for the dogs to eat, she ran to the door, opening it to look strangely at the figure in front of her. — What are you doing here?
— Do you have soy sauce? I think I forgot to put it in the bag. Ah… What an idiot.
Hyeori watched as her boyfriend walked down the hallway from her living room towards the kitchen once he entered through the door, leaving her standing in place, confused.
He had work today.
— What are you doing here?
— Look! You have soy sauce! — The boy’s smile made Hyeori notice how he avoided her questions, so she simply remained silent, staring at him, leaning against the kitchen door frame, she did so for a minute until the boy no longer endured her gaze. — Yah! Don’t look at me like that, you’re going to make me add too much soy and let me tell you that if that happens the food will be too sour and you won’t be able to eat.
— I asked you a question, Soo… What are you doing here and why aren’t you working? — The girl said, approaching him, looking at him with concern, it’s not that she did mind that he was resting, but it wasn’t typical of him to suddenly stop working like that, sometimes, even when he was sick he went to work.
Sooho placed the soy sauce on the table before walking towards the girl, taking her hand to look into her eyes. — Are you still upset with me?
— What?
— Sorry, I know I shouldn’t have made those jokes when Sieun was so angry, but I couldn’t help it, I didn’t think he would react that way. — Sooho started and the girl understood what was happening.
He didn’t go to work because he thought she was angry, and he didn’t want to leave things like that.
— Sooho.
— I won’t do it again, I thought that if I told a joke he would calm down…
— Sooho.
— Then, I could go back to sleep without fear that you will get up and get hurt and-
The girl took her boyfriend’s face in her hands, crashing her lips with his, feeling him smile a little before wrapping his arms around her waist, separating, the boy looked at her with some innocence. —Does that mean the food worked?
— That means I’m not, nor was I, upset with you, Soo, but the food made me not upset with you for missing work. — The girl left a small kiss on his nose before letting out a little scream when she felt her feet leave the floor, wrapping her legs around her boyfriend’s waist while he laughed and walked towards the kitchen.
— Well, you will love me more knowing that I made dinner.
Hyeori laughed before Sooho left her on the kitchen counter to turn around and grab one of the containers and return to her with a smile. —Then, I have the risk of missing school tomorrow due to poisoning.
— Yah! Last time it was your fault, I told you that you didn’t have to put so much spicy in it and you didn’t listen. — Hyeori denied and took the boy’s wrist, his hand had a spoon with food which he was going to give her, the girl guided her to her mouth, tasting the seasoning of it while she looked at her boyfriend with squinted eyes.
— This seasoning tastes to me like something that grandma would make.
— She gave me the recipe.
—And permission to say that you make this too? — Sooho opened his mouth before closing it, taking another spoonful of food and putting it into his girlfriend’s mouth, muttering curses while he listened to her loose laugh, walking towards the refrigerator to get water.
— I told my grandma not to put her special sauce on it. —He murmured this while he poured the water into two glasses, sad because his plan failed, but happy to hear the laughter of his girlfriend.
It would be less money, but spending time with her was like earning a fortune, the only one Sooho cared about earning.
