The now everyday noise of people talking in the room resonated in Hyeori’s ears when she entered the room, her backpack hung on her shoulder while she carried her math book on the other along with a small paper bag.

Like every day for three years, the girl smiled when she saw her boyfriend lying on his desk, his head on a small pink pillow that he had stolen from her room one day when he left her house almost escaping because her parents arrived earlier than planned. Since that day, the boy hugs that pillow when he sleeps in class or on the nights he stays over at school.

Hyeori’s smile grew, approaching the boy to caress his hair, leaving a small kiss on his cheek, the girl whispered a “good morning” before walking to her seat, which was, in front of Sooho’s. Sitting down, she listened to the conversation of two of her classmates, who spoke loud enough so that the girl had no problem hearing or understanding them. — Today is noodle soup day, idiot.

— Noodle soup days are Tuesdays, today is Wednesday, idiot, today is jeotbal day.

Hyeori laughed a little, leaning in a little so that both boys were looking at her. —Today is Friday, and it’s jajjangmyeon day, idiots. — Hyeori laughed a little louder when she saw how one of the boys hit the other on the head for having made the girl laugh of them. They both began to hit each other in joke mode. The girl stopped paying attention to them so she could concentrate on finishing some exercises she had to do for her intensive classes.

Some grunts behind her made Hyeori smile, dropping her pencil in her notebook, turning around, she ran into Sooho’s head moving, his eyes narrowed and his brow furrowed as he stretched. When his eyes collided with his girlfriend’s, the boy smiled, his eyes turned into fine lines, his smile revealed his row of pretty teeth, the boy’s hands touched Hyeori’s, who stretched them towards him, intertwining theirs fingers, the boy brought his face close to the girl’s, still with his smile, he caressed his nose with hers, letting out a giggle, Hyeori take her face away after Sooho left a short kiss on her lips.

— I thought it was impossible to see the sun, but look, every day it seems more nonsense to me, I see it every day. — Hyeori smiled at him, leaving a small kiss on his cheek.

— We have super vision then. — The girl whispered to him, he smiled at her. — Are you tired? Did you work hard last night?

— Mrs. Shin let me leave earlier, but… my head hurts. — He pouted, seeing how his girlfriend’s gaze shone with concern. — I’m fine, love, better… — The boy settled down on his chair, intertwining his fingers with the girl’s while he leaned towards her on his desk. — Do you want to go out today? Mrs. Shin gave me the night off and I won’t be taking orders today.

Hyeori clenched her hands as she scanned him with her gaze, his tired eyes making her heart ache, the boy had been working non-stop all week and she knew why.

Their three-year anniversary was tomorrow, but Sooho worked at a moving company on the weekends and knew how difficult it was to get a day off from that job, so his only way to celebrate that special day was to ask a favor to Mrs. Shin, who knew how important this was for the boy, so, without any problem, she gave him those days off.

—Are you sure you want to go out? Wouldn’t you rather have homemade seaweed soup, and a movie night with your girlfriend? — Hyeori smiled at him, caressing his cheeks, Sooho’s eyes shone when she heard that word “seaweed soup.” —It’s a good idea, right? Also, I have good news. — The girl whispered to him, making him look at her with doubt, smiling, Hyeori approached her boyfriend. —My parents left this morning and… they won’t be back for two weeks.

The smile on Sooho’s face was huge, the girl laughed a little before adjusting his hair. —Does that mean I can stay at your house to sleep?

— That’s right, that’s why we better stay home tonight, come with me after school, okay? — The girl pouted, and although Sooho loved going out with the girl in front of him, he had to admit that he was tired, and if she had offered him a quiet night, like the ones she liked, he wasn’t going to tell her no.

— Okay, but let’s order food for dinner, I’m not going to let you cook, you’re going to spend it with me on the couch. —The girl nodded, taking his hand before looking into his eyes, noticing how they looked dull with fatigue.

— Okay, darling… But get some sleep, okay? —Hyeori asked. — I’ll wake you up for lunch.

— Good. — The boy said, as if he were a baby before stretching his lips, Hyeori smiled and placed a kiss on his nose, stroking his hair as she lowered his head, making him lie down. —That’s not a goodnight kiss.

— It’s not night, Sooho-yah… — Hyeori began to caress his hair, until she heard the small sound of her boyfriend’s calm breathing, letting her know that he had fallen asleep again.

Turning around again, the girl began to take her things out of her backpack, classes would start soon.

After Sieun and YeonBing received their awards, the teacher left the room for a meeting, leaving the classroom alone, so everyone started doing their things, talking, looking at their cell phones, like Hyeori, studying, like Sieun, and ones even decided to sleep, like Sooho.

Hyeori’s attention was directed to Sieun, seeing how he was writing something, the girl always wondered what was going through his head at that time, he was always writing, or looking at nothing, quite serious and quiet, they had talked, maximum, twice, when they had done some tests or assignments together, before Sooho was transferred to that class.

The “good morning” that she gave him when she arrived at the classroom did not count since he did not even answer to her, but Hyeori liked to greet him, she felt that in some way he even appreciated that act, maybe she was not right, but no. She wanted to squash that thought of her head.

Hyeori was interested in that boy, more than anything because he was extremely intellectual, she had once wanted him to tutor her, however, his lack of tact with people had made Hyeori hear “no and don’t talk to me again.”

She didn’t do it, but she didn’t bother with him either, she didn’t see the point, she simply accepted the no and began to study by herself, and with Sooho, although the boy hardly had time to study, however, when he had, the boy gave those precious moments to her, accompanying her in the library while he slept or watching her read and write things in her notebooks without complaining or going somewhere else. He would let the girl study as much as she wanted and he would lie on her lap or on the table and he would fall asleep while she was caressing his hair.

He could do it for hours, and Hyeori loved that, so much that it made that feeling of affection towards him grow.

Hyeori and Sooho were always an enviable couple, just seeing how they both loved each other was something that, perhaps, many people dreamed of having.

On the boy’s days off, which were not very frequent, she would cook him lunch and let him take a nap in her bed, so that at night they would go out to eat together or do something fun that he would like, because, just as he accompanied her in her long hours of study, she liked to accompany him to do something he liked.

He had even convinced her to exercise with him on the weekends, and some days of the week, in the morning, which she was grateful for, because all of that helped her get away from her problems with her parents, it distracted her.

Hyeori’s attention left her boyfriend’s hair to turn to the door, watching as a group of uniformed boys entered the room. —Who is Ahn Sooho? — The girl raised her eyebrows before seeing the boy asleep next to her, turning her gaze towards the boy in uniform.

—Does he owe you something? — She asked with a raised eyebrow, looking at the boy and analyzing his clothing, apparently he was from the school’s baseball team.

Their elders.

— Is your name Ahn Sooho?

—Didn’t your parents teach you to answer when asked? What do you want with my boyfriend? —The girl she said, making the room let out an “uh”, looking at the boy who smiled with some annoyance before pointing the bat at her.

— Well, your boyfriend was flirting with my Naeun.

Hyeori raised her eyebrows before seeing Sooho sleeping, of course she didn’t believe that, she knew that the boy wasn’t that kind of person, everyone knew it, however, she liked to bother him, besides, she had to wake him up, it was almost lunch time. — Sooho… Sooho… Yah, Ahn SooHo! — His head shot up immediately, taking his girlfriend’s hand almost on impulse before inhaling and looking to his side in search of any danger.

—Hm? Is it lunch time yet, love? — The girl hit his hand gently, however, he looked at her with some confusion, noticing her serious look. He was confused, even though she didn’t look angry, his half-asleep state made him think something had happened to upset her.

—Who is Naeun? — Everyone’s eyes were on the couple, no one believed the story that the boy had flirted with someone else, Sooho had spent his entire life waiting for Hyeori and when she returned, he didn’t wait long to start dating her, although she did not enter school as Sooho’s girlfriend, she was introduce to them as the girl that Sooho would send everyone to the hospital for if they approached her with bad intentions.

—Naeun? Lee Naeun? Yoo Naeun?

—How many Naeun do you know? — Sooho looked at his girlfriend with his round eyes already completely open.

— Several, but I don’t remember faces… Park Naeun?

—It’s Son Naeun, you idiot! — Hyeori was a little scared by his scream, Sooho looked at this and stared at her before looking at the boy again with some seriousness. — You… You flirted with her. With my girlfriend.

— Dude, I have a girlfriend, just look at her, she’s beautiful. Do you think I would change her for… What was her name again? — The boy snorted before pointing his head at the boy, giving a signal to the other boys in the group. —Hey, she started, I was just being nice, I told her to leave me alone, don’t you-

Sooho didn’t finish, he quickly got up from his seat as he saw the baseball bat hit her table, dodging it with some luck, he did it again, Hyeori just watched with a small smile, she knew there was no way they could even hurt him.

Sooho knew how to defend himself very well.

Hyeori looked to her side as she felt a strong hand wrap around her arm, making it hurt a little. — Yah! Idiot… Let go of me! —The girl complained when she felt how they lifted her from her seat. Her eyes collided with Sooho’s, who lowered his guard for a second, which gave the other boys the opportunity to hit the bat on his chest.

— Leave her, your problem is with me. — The boy tightened his grip on Hyeori’s arm, forming a grimace on her face. —Keep your hands away from my girlfriend, you ass-

The boy did not finish when a laugh left his lips when he saw his girlfriend, the girl had managed to take a history book in her hands before hitting the boy’s face with it, making him let go of her, Hyeori threatened him again, seeing how he walked away from her. Sooho, seeing the girl hit whoever approached her, returned to focus on the other boys, who apparently wanted to continue being hit.

Hyeori threw the book at a boy, making him fall to the ground with a hand on his nose, just at the same time that the leader of all of them fell to the ground unconscious thanks to Sooho. — Yah, take them to the infirmary and if you say one of our names, I’ll kill you, and you… — Sooho approached, raising the boy’s head while he looked at him with menace. —You touch my girlfriend again and I will break the hand you touched her with. Get out.

The group did so, everyone else in the room looked at the couple, noticing Hyeori begin to pick up the desk that Sooho had knocked over and how the boy immediately ran towards her, scolding her for doing that and sending her to sit down after checking her arm.

At one point, everyone started thinking about how Sooho and Hyeori had ended up together, they were like polar opposites, the girl loved studying, she liked quiet and ballads, being quiet at home and watching a movie while Sooho was the contrary, he loved sleeping, sports and nightlife, he liked to go out and have fun and he loved loud music, they were completely different, yet so similar.

When Hyeori and Sooho met, it really wasn’t the best of situations, much more so because of what would have happened if the oldest wasn’t so curious. The girl was grateful to him since then, after they both met again, he, knowing that he liked the girl, did it from the moment those warm lips connected with his cheek in that humid alley, he did not miss the opportunity and he asked her on a date, she accepted, and that’s how at thirteen years old, both became a couple. At first, it was nothing more than holding hands, helping the girl carry her backpack, accompanying her to the classroom, accompany her to the gate of her condo, looking at her until she enters her house, things of thirteen-year-old children, until everyone began to realize that, four years later, the couple of Ahn Sooho and Kang Hyeori was known at that place for being too enviable.

They were the definition of: Opposites attract.

And although they didn’t say it, they really thought that they were going to end up married, the way Sooho had changed for the girl, he had even gotten two jobs so he could ask her out, so he could give her gifts on their birthdays and anniversaries, the effort that the boy had made, sacrificing his free days to accompany the girl to the library or stay at home to study. And the way Hyeori had gone out of her comfort zone for him, giving herself space to go out at night and have fun, she accompanied him to the gym, even if it was just to cheer him up, she had chosen a day to help him with food deliveries so, in that way, he could sleep more and had even spent entire nights helping him with his homework, she had even learned to cook his favorite food to be able to cheer him up on those days when his body was too tired.

They were the typical love story that everyone would like to have, the story that Hyeori always wanted, that’s why she cared so much about Sooho, she had met the perfect boy for her and she was afraid that something could happen to him, the same for Sooho, she was the only one person he had, and he would blame himself all his life if something bad happened to her.
