“Let me do it”

“But I want to do it”

“What are you two doing?”

Nari and Hyeon-ju both pivoted in their step, surprised, like deers caught in headlights.

Geon-woo’s curious eyes bounced between the two of them, his eyebrow pinched and hands holding onto a bowl of cereal that paused mid-air much like the two women caught off guard. They were hovering over either side of Woo-jin’s unconscious frame, his mouth opened with snores escaping his lips rather loudly. His left arm was arched over his head while his right was hanging limply off the couch, a whirl of whipped cream dripping down his palm and between his fingers and onto the floor. Hsi eyes trailed back up the two women who seemed to have been fighting for the single feather in their grasp.

“Nothing” Nari remarked, blowing a raspberry and Hyeon-ju managed to pluck the feather from her hands. Nari whipped her head to the woman, her face set in a scowl but Hyeon-ju merely smiled triumphantly.

“Doesn’t seem like it?” he said, his tone drawling as his eyes jumping between them.

“We’re just waking him up” Nari explained with an innocent shrug.ย

They were to meet with Jae-myeong soon as he was given a special task of digging any and every piece of information he could find on Kang In-beom. But, Woo-jin was still fast asleep and Nari and Hyeon-ju felt like causing some mischief. So ,hence their current predicament. Hyeon-ju had a hand slammed over her mouth to muffle her giggles as she leaned over the backrest of the couch to tickle his nose with the feather. An old, clichรฉ, classic, prank.

Woo-jin twitched and Geon-woo casually raised his spoon to his mouth while Nari watched with an excited gleam in her eye as his eyes scrunched and nose wiggled. Hyeon-ju did it again and his hand swung in an arc and the cream smeared all over his face.

Woo-jin woke with a startled gasp, lurching upwards while the blanket dropped to pool at his waist as white filled his vision.

Hyeon-ju and Nari erupted into laughter as cream dribbled down his face, smothering his stunned face and falling onto his bare torso.

“What the-” he could barely get out the words as cream settled on his tongue. He glanced down at his hand and then the feather in Hyeon-ju’s and the way the two women were doubling over.

“You’re so dead” he said, oddly calmly. The two girls laughter simmered to giggles. “‘So dead” he repeated and then swiped his hand over his face and jumped from the bed.

Nari and Hyeon-ju sobered up as fast. They turned to each other, wide eyed and then they bolted. Woo-jin hurdled over the couch, cream in hand and he started chasing them around the apartment all the while Geon-wooo remained in the corner, continuing eating his cereal with a rather goofy looking Tom and Jerry episode played before him in real time.

After a rather eventful morning and Woo-jin’s scowl matched with dripping hair after he had to shower, they were met with a rather awkward encounter with Jae-myeong who handed them the files to In-beom’s profile when they returned back to the apartment.

“She’s going to come” Hyeon-ju said, referring to Da-min as they sat at the computer, trying to dig into Kang In beom’s whereabouts and information.

”She won’t” Woo-jin argued. “She only caught us in a moment of passing. It was bad luck”

Hyeon-ju didn’t believe him, only humming until not even five minutes later they heard the beeping of the alarm system. Hyeon-ju lifted her brow in an ‘I told you so’ manner of which Woo-jin sighed at.

He had managed to calm her, bribing her with three diffusers when suddenly Geon-woo’s phone began vibrating. Nari frowned at the unknown number before she noticed a similarity.

“How does Kang In-beom have your number?” Nari frowned, looking at her boyfriend before pointing out the matching sequence of numbers from the phone to the number on the page.

Geon-woo furrowed, opening the text that came through and Nari had to suck in a harsh breath when an alarming photo of Mr Oh, laying battered and bruised on the floor of some unknown location stared back at her.

Da-min looked at them, angsty and nosey, trying to peer over Geon-woo and Woo-jin’s broad shoulders to see a sneak peak of what had them so spooked. Nair noticed and went to block her vision, shooting Da-min a fake smile that she struggled to maintain. As much as Da-min’s first impression went, she did not deserve to see her grandfather in that state. No one did.

“Da-min” Nari tried but the younger girl harshly shoved her way forward and grabbed the phone from Geon-woo’s hand. Her eyes widened and Nari could see the way fear and dread for her grandfather pulled at her features.

”What happened to grandpa? Who did this to him?” she asked, her tone shaky but demanding.

The phone ringing suddenly startled them and before Geon-woo could retain the phone Da-min had already swiped answer. A low deep voice rang across the apartment, telling them to meet at Incheon’s four garden mall in an hour or Mr Oh would die.

Da-min noticed the look in Nari’s eyes the second the call dropped “I’m coming” Nari wanted to interject, shut her down and tell her it was too dangerous for a teenager but Hyeon-ju had been the one to step in. Nari glanced at her friend and noticed the subtle tremble in her gaze. Hyeon-ju hadn’t been there for her grandfather, Da-min could be there for hers. She would not let her rob her of this. Nari saw the regret in Hyeon-ju and for a moment Da-min and Hyeon-ju blurred into one and Mr Oh and Mr Choi another.

“We’ll look out for her” Hyeon-ju eventually said and Nari relented. She nodded and Da-min went upstairs to get her archery kit while Nari and Hyeon-ju gathered their clothes. Woojin and Geon-woo decided to just change in the open.

“Is decency no longer a thing?” Hyeon-ju muttered, shrugging on her jacket as Geon-woo and Woo-jin stood shirtless in the middle of the apartment. ” There’s a kid present”

“I don’t mind” Nari said, smirking at her boyfriend and how his muscles rippled with his movement, his back toned and curved. She tied her hair, half up and down and out of her face, her jacket riding up while Geon-woo just smiled, albeit sheepishly as he tugged down his shirt.

” Sickening” Hyeon-ju muttered and Nari just slung her arm around her shoulder and tugged her to her side.

“How many do you think they’ll be?” Woo-jin asked, tone apprehensive.

“I don’t know, maybe around thirty” Geon-woo responded.

“We’ll be fine” Nari assured as Hyeon-ju grabbed her baton and taser and pocketed it in her jacket. “We’ve done this once we can do this again”

“You all set?”

They turned, noting how different Da-min suddenly looked. Long gone were her glasses, replaced with contact lenses. Hair tied and out of her face , a quiver strapped to her back and a compact bow in her hand. Nari nodded, impressed.

“So then” Da-min said, glancing at the four of them. “Let’s get grandpa back”ย
