ISHA POV
The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow through the tall windows as we walked side by side down the quiet hallway toward his office. My footsteps echoed slightly against the polished marble floor, but my mind was elsewhere-on the whispers, the judgmental stares, the words thrown around carelessly by those who knew nothing about us.
“I’m fine, really…” I said, keeping my tone light, as if their words meant nothing. “I don’t care what they say. They don’t know anything about me, so why should I take their words seriously?”
I expected him to nod, to brush it off like I did, but instead, he came to an abrupt halt. My steps faltered when I felt his gaze burn into me. When I turned to look at him, his dark eyes were filled with something raw, something dangerous. The muscle in his jaw ticked, his fingers curled into fists.
He was pissed. Really pissed.
“Just because you don’t mind their words doesn’t mean they can say whatever the fuck they want about my wife,” his voice was low, dark with anger, each syllable laced with quiet fury. “If I hear someone saying shit about our relationship again, I’ll make sure it’s the last mistake they make in this college.”
My heart clenched-not in fear, but in something much deeper. His protectiveness was suffocating, overwhelming, but at the same time, it made me feel something warm, something that melted into my bones.
When we stepped into his office, he didn’t give me a chance to speak.
“Sit,” he ordered.
I obeyed, watching as he paced in front of me, his long fingers tugging at his tie, loosening it with agitation. His broad shoulders tensed, his usually composed face clouded with an almost pained emotion.
And then he stopped.
His strong hands cradled my face, his thumbs gently stroking my cheeks, his touch achingly soft despite the storm raging in his eyes. My breath hitched.
“They don’t know what you are to me,” his voice was quieter now, vulnerable in a way that sent my heart racing. “You’re too young to be subjected to their cruel and ugly remarks, and it breaks my heart to see my baby facing the ugliness of this pathetic world.”
My lips parted, my throat tight with emotions I couldn’t quite name. But I couldn’t let him see that, so instead, I tilted my head, a teasing glint in my eyes.
“I told you I’m fine,” I said, crossing my arms. “Aur aapko kya lagta hai? Aapki Isha ko in jaise logon se koi fark padta hai? Maine toh pehle hi kaha tha, bata dete hain sabko ki aap mere hain-par aap hi nahi maan rahe the.” I huffed, pouting slightly.
His brows furrowed at my words, but before he could respond, I continued, my tone turning mischievous.
“Achcha hai ab woh ladkiyan doubts ke bahane aapke aage peeche bhanbhanaati nahi ghumengi college mein… madhumakkhi ki tarah.”
A chuckle escaped his lips. Despite the frustration he carried moments ago, my words had managed to amuse him.
“Yeah? And even if they came to me, I’m sure you’d chase them away, wouldn’t you?” he teased, a rare playfulness in his voice.
I smirked. “Obviously.”
He shook his head, exhaling a soft laugh, before pulling me into his arms. I was still sitting on the chair while he stood, so my arms wrapped around his waist, my face pressed against his firm stomach. His scent-clean, masculine, uniquely him-wrapped around me like a cocoon, making the rest of the world fade away.
For a moment, there was only us.

Later That Evening
After what felt like an eternity, our classes were finally over. I could barely contain my excitement at the thought of going home, curling up in bed, and watching Shinchan-all while snuggling against Rudra, of course.
Now, I was walking toward his office, eager to go home together. The best part? I no longer had to sneak around or hide our relationship. It was after college hours, so no one could call it unprofessional. Not that Rudra would ever allow something inappropriate to happen, but still, some nosy people had a habit of poking their noses into things that didn’t concern them.
But just as I reached the door, I stopped in my tracks.
Sitting across from Rudra was none other than Adi sir.
My breath hitched slightly, an unexpected nervousness creeping in. They seemed to be discussing something, but the moment I stepped into the room, Rudra’s head lifted, his warm gaze locking onto mine.
He didn’t need to say anything. That one look was enough to make me feel acknowledged, as if the rest of the world blurred into insignificance.
“We’ll discuss this tomorrow,” Rudra said, turning his attention back to Adi sir.
Adi sir followed his gaze and smirked when he saw me. “Oh? Don’t want to make your favorite student wait?” he teased, his tone laced with amusement.
I blinked. “It’s not like that!” The words tumbled out before I could stop them, my instinct to defend Rudra kicking in.
Adi sir simply raised an eyebrow. “Let’s ask Rudra, then,” he mused, mischief glinting in his eyes , like he knows something which I don’t .
“So, Isha is not your favorite student?”
I turned to Rudra, curious, half-expecting him to avoid the question or brush it off with one of his usual strict remarks.
But instead, his sharp glare darkened, and then-just when I least expected it-he looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Yes, she is.”
His voice was firm. Certain. Unshakable.
I swear, my heart just forgot how to function for a second.
I’m his favorite?
I blinked at him, stunned. My stomach fluttered, warmth spreading through my chest. I had always assumed he thought of me as irresponsible, a troublemaker, someone he constantly had to scold.
But hearing those words from him…
A shy smile crept onto my lips before I could stop it, and as much as I wanted to tease him about it, I knew I’d end up blushing too hard to pull it off.
Adi sir let out a low whistle. “Well, well. That was unexpected.”
Rudra shot him another glare, but I could see the corner of his lips twitching as if he were holding back a smile.
“Well then I should not disturb the professor and his favourite student”he said playfully looking at Rudra , and here I thought Shreyansh was too much.
As Adi Sir walked toward the office door, he suddenly stopped mid-stride. A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes as he turned back toward me. Leaning slightly forward to match my height, he lowered his voice, his lips curling into a playful smirk.
“And I’m still single,” he murmured, his voice smooth and teasing. “Just in case you’re still curious about it.”
Oh my god. Not again. Ek game ki wajah se poori life tease hona padega kya, Bhagwan?
I barely had time to glare at him before he straightened and turned toward Rudra, who had been silently watching the exchange. His whiskey-colored eyes darkened, his sharp jaw tightening ever so slightly.
“What!! She’s not just my student but also my friend’s wife,” Adi Sir continued, now in full dramatic mode.
“I know you’re shy about our friendship, but don’t be. Isha is a modern girl; she would understand our bromance.” He finished with a nonchalant shrug, like he had just said something completely normal.
I turned to look at Rudra. The tension in his shoulders was unmistakable. His gaze was fixed on Adi Sir with the kind of chilling intensity that could make anyone rethink their life choices.
“Adi,” Rudra drawled his name, his voice dangerously calm, like a predator deciding whether to strike.
“Yes?” Adi Sir responded sweetly, pretending to be oblivious to the death glare being directed at him.
Rudra stepped closer, exuding quiet menace. “In the next ten seconds, if I still find you standing here, I would be devastated to inform the students tomorrow that their favorite professor is no longer with us.”
Adi Sir let out an exaggerated gasp, clutching his chest like Rudra had personally offended him. “See! This is how he talks to his best friend. I can’t believe a grump like him actually fell in love with you.” Then, he leaned in toward me and whispered conspiratorially, “Are you guys really married? And he’s your husband?”
I pressed my lips together, trying my best to suppress my laughter. The sheer disbelief in Adi Sir’s voice was too much.
“One… two…” Rudra started counting, his patience clearly wearing thin.
Adi Sir immediately threw his hands up. “Jaa raha hoon, jaa raha hoon! Aur mujhe toh pehle se hi pata tha ki tu kitna jalta hai ki main bachchon ka favorite hoon!” He scoffed before striding out of the office like he had won an argument.
The moment he was gone, I couldn’t hold it in any longer. Laughter bubbled out of me as I clutched my stomach, my body shaking from the effort.
“Rudra! Mujhe laga humne promise kiya tha ki ab se hum sab kuch share karenge, koi baat apne mann mein nahi rakhenge. Aur aapka bromance chal raha hai pata nahi kab se, aur aapne mujhe bataya bhi nahi?” I teased, feigning anger, though my laughter completely betrayed me.
Rudra exhaled sharply, his expression unreadable as he shot me a look that screamed, You seriously think I would do something like that? And if you do, then you’re even more insane than Adi.
Shaking his head in exasperation, he muttered, “Let’s go home. I’ve had enough for one day.” Without another word, he took my hand in his, his grip firm yet warm, and led me toward the parking lot.
π°
I sat in the passenger seat, gazing out the window, enjoying the cool evening breeze against my face. After a while, I realized something was off.
I turned to Rudra, frowning. “This isn’t the way to our home. I think you took a wrong turn.”
He didn’t even glance at me, his hands steady on the wheel. “We’re on the right path. Just enjoy the ride.”
I narrowed my eyes. “But if we’re not going home, then where are we going?”
He remained silent for a moment before casually asking, “Tumhe kuchh khana hai? Snacks or ice cream?”
My suspicions were momentarily forgotten. “Ice cream!!” I blurted out before he could change his mind.
He parked the car by a small roadside stall and went to get me one. Now, I was sitting happily, enjoying my ice cream .and obviously he still haven’t told me where are we going.
He turned on the music after sometime and the song started playing –
“Kya jane tu
mere irade Le jaunga
saanse churake
Dil keh rha h
Gunehgar banja bada chain
Hai inn gunahoon se aage”
As soon as the lyrics filled the car, I instinctively turned toward him, my eyes narrowing with suspicion.
He noticed and raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“Aapke iraade theek nahi lag rahe hain mujhe,” I said, my tone suspicious though amusement danced in my eyes. “Sach sach bataiye, kahaan leke ja rahe hain?”
Rudra scoffed, shaking his head. “Paagal ladki,” he muttered, reaching out to ruffle my hair before turning his attention back to the road.
I gasped, immediately swatting his hand away. “Kya…! Aap bhi na! Main thoda entertainment karne ki soch rahi thi, par aapse toh kuch hota hi nahi hai.” I pouted, fixing my hair while looking in the mirror.
Rudra glanced at me, amusement flickering in his gaze. Slowly, he leaned in closer, his face just inches from mine.
“Ohh really?” A smirk played on his lips, his voice dipping into a dangerously smooth tone.
My breath hitched slightly, but I wasn’t about to back down. I met his gaze with defiance. “Yes, really.”
His smirk widened, his eyes darkening slightly. “Oh, trust me, I can do a lot… but you’re not ready for it yet.” His voice dropped into a whisper, rich with something that sent a shiver down my spine.
My lips parted slightly, caught off guard. “W-What does that even mean?” I blinked at him, suddenly feeling flustered.
Rudra chuckled, leaning back as if nothing had happened. “You’ll know when the time comes, you are still a baby for now “
And just like that, he turned his attention back to the road, leaving me both annoyed and breathless.
He winked before shifting gears, as if the moment between us had been nothing but casual banter.
But my heart was still racing.
