Read Author’s Note at the end…!!!
As I walked into Prisha dii’s room, she was going through her cupboard and holding a dress in her hand.
“Ruhii, this is the only small size I have. You can wear this, I’m sure it will fit you. Don’t worry, I haven’t worn it before. I actually ordered it, but the size was wrong, and the return date already passed,” she said, and I smiled as my headache started acting up again.
I quickly saw that Prisha Di had already prepared some warm water for me. I am grateful for her.
I hurriedly took a shower and wore the dress Prisha Di had given me. It actually fit me, though the sleeves were a little long, but I could manage.
I came out of the room, and I saw Prisha Di was already drying her hair with the dryer. I hesitated, but she just signaled for me to come.
“I can do it, Dii,” I tried to protest, but she replied, “No worries, I’ll do it. Besides, Mom asked me to help you,” and she continued drying my hair.
As she dried my hair, my mind wandered to the park, where I had confessed. I still couldn’t believe I had told him. Since then, I’ve been feeling so happy. I never thought I would be able to do it, but I did.
It was the most beautiful moment of my life.
I knew I would never forget it.
He looked extremely charming today. For me, he’s the most charming guy I’ve ever seen.
As dii finished drying my hair, my eyes landed on a gift on the desk. I remembered that Vihaan had asked dii to put it on his desk, but in her haste, she had placed it there.
I noticed the first page of the gift was drenched. I sighed, realizing it was ruined.
“What happened, Ruhii?” Prisha Di asked.
“I made this for Vihaan, and now it’s ruined,” I said, looking at the damaged page.
“Hmm, you know he will still accept it and keep it safe in his locker, so don’t worry,” she said with a smile.
I smiled back, but it didn’t quite reach my eyes.
“Hmmm, you can still fix it,” she said. I looked at her in surprise.
“Wait,” Prisha Di stood up and went to her drawer, pulling out some fresh pages.
“Let’s make it together,” she said as she cut the paper. I carefully took out the damaged page from the scrapbook, being careful not to ruin the other pages. Prisha Di carefully removed the stitching and attached the new pages, handing them to me.
I smiled at her and thanked her for her help.
We worked together to fix it, and now it looked perfect.
“Look, it looks perfect! I’m sure my Vihu will treasure this for the rest of his life,” she said with a smile.
As Di asked, “Ruhii, let’s go?”
“Ah, Di, you should go. I’ll come later. Actually, I…” I was trying to make an excuse, but she chuckled and said, “You’re exactly like your brother- even he can’t make any excuses.”
She flashed a playful wink as she moved toward the door, teasing, “Alright, I get it. You can come later… but don’t take too long. Remember, our families are just downstairs.”
I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks.
But wait, what did she say?
My brother?
How did she know such details about him?
As I tried to think about it more, my mind was already consumed with thoughts of someone else.
I cleared my appearance and went to Vihaan’s room. I hesitated a bit. It had been a while since I entered his room.
I gulped as I knocked, but no one replied. I knocked again, but there was still no response.
When I gently pushed the door, it opened, revealing his room.
Oh gosh, why was I feeling so shy?
I had been in his room before.
Take a deep breath Ruhii. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Huff!
I walked in and saw no one. I could hear the sound of water running from the bathroom, so I assumed he was still there.
I took a look around his room and realized that everything in his room was about games. This guy is really obsessed with gaming.
Why the is he taking so long in the bathroom? I took a shower in 20 minutes, and he’s been there for over 50 minutes. Like seriously!
I decided to take a closer look at his room, something I hadn’t done in detail before. His room was filled with games and tons of games. On the shelves were trophies and medals. I stared at his gaming setup for a while. Then, I noticed a pot where he kept flowers which i gave, and I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of it.
Suddenly, I heard the bathroom door open, and my heart skipped a beat.
I turned around just as he walked out of the bathroom, towel in hand, drying his hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt that hugged his body so perfectly, and I couldn’t help but stare. I let out a breath, not realizing I had been holding it in-clearly, I was a little too focused on him.
His hair was still wet, and drops of water were slowly dripping down, making him look even more……well, irresistibly hot. I felt my chest rise and fall with every deep breath I took, my mind racing.
I couldn’t help but think, how is it possible for someone to look this hot while just coming out of the shower?
I was definitely in trouble, and I was pretty sure my heart was beating way too fast for a normal heart beat.
Although this t-shirt became a barrier for the most delightful view, I couldn’t help but think… wait a minute-Oh gosh! Ruhanika Oberoi, get it together!
Seriously, how is it possible that my brain is turning into a total mess of inappropriate thoughts day by day? One minute, I’m just admiring him like a normal person, and the next, it’s like my brain has switched to a channel of not-so-nice thoughts.
Maybe an off switch for my thoughts would be helpful right about now.
I wasn’t like this before.
“Ruh,” i heard him calling me as he snapped hai fingers.
“Ruh, what are you doing here? Do you need something? Did something happen? ” He asked, his voice full of concern.
“I am here to meet you,” I replied confidently trying to shut off those unwanted thoughts about him, though I was also surprised by where the confidence came from.
His cheeks turned red, and I could see his neck flushing pink as he nervously scratched the back of his neck.
He smiled and walked towards me, throwing his towel onto the bed.
I gave him a stern look as I glanced at the towel and then at him.
He gave a sheepish smile and winked at me before saying, “Apni haseen si ankhein dikha kr darane ki zarurat nhi hai rakh rha hu towel ko uski jagah par.”
He picked up the towel, and placed it on the drying stand in the balcony.
“Done,” he said as he rubbed his hands together.
I walked closer to him, and he looked shocked, but did I care? No.
I took the gift and he asked as he looked at the scrapbook, “Did you…?” I nodded.
He looked at me, and this time, I could clearly read his emotions.
The unsaid feelings were no longer unsaid.
I could tell how much he wanted to be with me. I felt like I was on cloud nine.
I moved closer and handed him the gift, “Happy Birthday,” I whispered as I gave it to him.
He smiled and pulled me into a hug. His hugs felt like it would never be enough for me.
“Thank you, Ruh,” he said.
“I’m the last one to wish you,” I murmured, feeling a little bad.
“The last one, but the most special one,” he whispered, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear.
He looked at me with a soft, intense gaze, and before I could even react, he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead.
A wave of warmth and electricity shot through me at his touch, and I couldn’t help but shiver slightly. My eyes fluttered shut, my breath catching in my throat, as I let myself savor the moment.
His lips stayed on my forehead a little longer than I expected, making my heart race and sending a tension through my body. It felt like time had slowed down, and I cherished every single second of the moment.
“Wait, I have one more gift,” I chirped, jumping up excitedly.
He held me steady as I almost lost my balance.
“Be careful, Ruh,” he said with a smile.
“You already gave me a gift, I don’t need anything else,” he said, sounding sure of himself.
“As if I will actually listen to you,” I teased, rolling my eyes at him, making him chuckle.
I went to get the box I had asked Bhai to pick up for me.
They couldn’t deliver it due to some issues, so Bhai had driven for four hours just to get it. He might look grumpy and always glares at Vihaan, but I know he doesn’t hate him.
I returned with the gift and handed it to him.
He looked at it, confused.
“Open it,” I said, excitement bubbling up inside me.
He opened the gift, and his face immediately lit up with a smile.
“It’s beautiful!” he said, clearly happy with it.
Inside was a special watch I had made just for him. The band was shiny silver metal, smooth and sleek, giving it a classy look. The watch face was a deep navy blue, simple but elegant. The silver hands and markers stood out against the blue, giving it a clean and timeless style. The first initial of his name was engraved on the side of the watch face. It wasn’t too fancy but a simple, classic design, just the kind of watch that would always look good, and it was perfect for him
“Try this on,” I said.
“Why don’t you make me wear it?” he teased.
I approached him, holding the cold metal watch in my hand. As I touched his hand, a new feeling washed over me. I was feeling shy because I was touching his hand.
“Calm down, Ruhii,” he whispered huskily, and I couldn’t help but shiver at the sound of his voice. He knew exactly what he was doing, and it was driving me crazy.
As I put the watch on him, I teased, “This watch actually has a purpose.”
“What?” he asked, glancing at the watch.
“I saw you only wear smartwatches, so wear this one too. So that way, next time, my dupatta-only mine-can be stuck in your watch, and I can have my most dreamy bollywood moment,” I said, giggling.
He laughed, and damn, his laugh was infectious.
“Promise! I’ll make sure only your dupatta gets stuck in my watch,” he said, pulling my cheek lightly.
I glared at him.
“Can’t help it, your cheeks turn red, so I can’t control my hands from pulling them,” he shrugged casually.
We both smiled at each other, but we were interrupted when we heard Adhya Mam’s voice from downstairs.
“Chalien?” i asked.
“Chaliye,” he said as he walked beside me.
We both walked downstairs, and Tanya and Vani immediately pulled me in.
“Where the hell were you, Ruhii? What took you so long?” Vani asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I just….” I didn’t know why I felt so shy.
“Did you two sort things out between you?” Tanya asked, and I nodded.
“Yeah, we can tell by your cheeks, which have turned into tomatoes,” Vani teased, and I glared at her.
She just shrugged.
“This conversation is not the end yet,” Vani whispered in my ears, winking at me.
We all sat down as Adhya Mam started serving dinner. Since it was still raining heavily, Tanya and Vani decided to stay with me.
An hour later, Prisha Di went to make us some chai because, why not? We couldn’t resist tea, especially in this rainy weather.
I went into the kitchen to get some water, and I heard his voice behind me,“Kaha jaa rahi hain aap?”
I pressed my hand to my chest, startled by his sudden voice.
“Hadd hoti hai, aisa kaun achanak bolta hai? You scared the life out of me” I said.
To which he mumbled, “Sorry.”
“Did I tell you that you were absolutely looking freaking hot in the dress you wear before?” he whispered in my ear, and I felt myself blush.
I quickly walked into the kitchen and saw Prisha Di making tea.
I saw Bhai was there too, and when he saw me, he cleared his throat.
Prisha Di’s cheeks were flushed, and she kept looking down at the tea.
What the hell was going on?
“Aap yaha kya kar rahe ho?” Vihaan asked, glaring at Bhai, to which Bhai reciprocated the glare.
Their glare battle had begun.
“Drinking water,” Bhai replied, showing him the water bottle.
Bhai smirked, looking at him as they glared at each other.
I was done with their glaring match, so I went to help Prisha Di and had some water.
“Are you okay?” I asked her.
She coughed and replied, “Yeah, okay.”
I didn’t really understand her answer, but my mind was still occupied with thoughts of him.
β’β’β’β’β’
Later at night:
After coming back from Vihaan’s house, I couldn’t sleep. Vani and Tanya came beside me, mischievous grins on their faces.
“Hmm, so tell us everything,” Vani chirped excitedly, and Tanya nudged me with her shoulder.
“So, bataiye Miss Ruhanika, aapki billion-dollar smile ka raaz kya hai?” Tanya asked, mimicking an interviewer.
“Nothing, guys. Just sleep, I’m feeling very sleepy,” I said, trying to ignore their teasing looks.
“Nahi, nahi, humein batao, we both want to know?” Vani whined, coming to sit on my study chair with her legs on both sides.
“So we just talked,” I said, sitting down.
Tanya raised an eyebrow, “Just talked?” she asked, and I nodded.
Technically, we did just talk, right?
Or am I wrong?
‘And those talks are still fresh in my memory,’ my mind teased, mocking me for lying, exaggerating ‘talks’ word.
As I turned around to close the balcony door, I saw him standing there, his gaze locked on me.
My chest started rising and falling faster, and I just smiled as I closed the door, trying to control my breathing.
When I turned back to face Tanya and Vani, they both smirked.
Was I being so obvious?
They began singing and teasing me.
“Yeh nasha jis mein
donon rehte hain
Yeh laher jis mein
donon behte hain
Ho na ho isko
pyaar kehte hain.”
They both sang and danced around, pulling me into the dance, giving me a twirl.
Then, when Vani came in, they twirled me again, holding me as the dance ended.
We all laughed together.
“Fine, I’m happy you both sorted everything out, and I’m waiting for some good news,” Vani teased.
Tanya started coughing.
“Definitely not that news which your brain is thinking Tanya,” I said as I saw her mischievous grin, i know she took that sentence in another meaning. She tucked her hair strand behind her ear, sheepishly smiling.
“Okay, no more male species talk, it’s a girls’ night,” Tanya said.
Vani and I nodded.
I went to get some sheets and paint colors and started our painting session.
Both Tanya and I are amateur in painting, but Vani…..she’s amazing.
I said to her, “You should definitely start showing your art in exhibitions. I’m sure people would love your paintings and sketches.”
I was admiring her painting when my gaze fell on the sketch behind her.
It was a sketch of eyes, and they were so beautiful that anyone who looked at them would instantly fall in love.
But these eyes seemed familiar to me.
Tanya gave me a gentle nudge, and I turned to look at her, as we both teased her, “Yeh sirf aankhon ka sketch hai ya aapke dil me chupe hue insaan ki ek jhalak”
“It’s…just a sketch, you guys are overreacting,” she picked up the sketch carefully and turned her face which i know she is blushing…..and when I say carefully, I mean she accidentally dropped her phone because her leg tripped, but she didn’t dare to drop the sketch and quickly put it in her bag.
Tanya and I exchanged glances, both of us realizing whose sketch it was.
After three hours of painting, we finally went to bed.
Tanya slept in the middle, Vani on the right, and I lay on the left.
But the sleep was far from me, and I knew why-it was because of one person.
Uff, Ruhii.
I woke up and placed a pillow beside Tanya to prevent her from falling from bed.
As I sat on the bed, I heard the floor creak.
What the hell?
The creaking was getting louder. I know I love horror movies, but this in real life was freaking me out.
Am i going to meet a ghost?
But never mind, it was thrilling.
As I moved, I heard the balcony door tap. When I opened it, I saw a black shadow.
I was about to scream when a hand pressed against my mouth, stopping the scream.
A hand slid to my waist, pulling me out onto the balcony.
“Shhh, it’s me, Vihaan,” he whispered softly, and as soon as I heard his voice, I relaxed a little.
I shot him a mock glare, and he gave me that signature sheepish smile of his. The one that always made my heart flutter a little, even if I didn’t want it to.
“What the hell, Vihaan? You scared the life out of me!” I whispered angrily, still trying not to wake up everyone in the neighborhood.
“Sorry,” he said with a hint of amusement, like he was enjoying this way too much.
I quickly closed the window, making sure not to make any noise that would wake Vani or Tanya. God, they will tease the hell out of me, if they find out.
“Wait a minute…..did you actually climb up to the balcony? How on earth did you do that?” I asked, my voice a mixture of disbelief and confusion.
The balcony was not much on height but still it’s a little bit high, and there was no pipe connected to it, so he would use it to climb.
“Uh….yeah, I used the ladder,” he said casually, as if it was no big deal.
I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “Where did you find a ladder at this time of night?”
“Veena Aunty’s garden,” he shrugged.
“She leaves it outside for…..umm, I don’t know why, but I figured I’d borrow it. Don’t worry, I’ll put it back.”
I stared at him for a second, processing what he’d just said, “You’re insane, you know that?”
“You mean, Freaking Insane? For you? Absolutely,” he grinned.
I couldn’t help but hit him on the shoulder lightly, and he exaggerated his reaction.
“Ouch, Ruh! You’re getting violent day by day, huh?” he teased, making a show of wincing.
Drama king. I didn’t even hit him that hard.
“Aapki harkatein hi aisi hain!” I scolded him, rolling my eyes.
“What if you fell and hurt yourself? Can’t you use your brain for once? The balcony’s not that high, but you could’ve broken your femur, tibia, patella, radius, ulna, clavicle, scapula, or even your sternum”
“Eiiii…Ruh, I am not taking your revision test, don’t remind me of this chapter….,” he said with horrible expression.
“And by the way, I would’ve only hurt my knee if I would have fallen down…maybe,” he said with a smirk, like he had it all figured out-no big deal but eventually looked down expecting how much damage could have done.
“So now stop your brain from running too much, I can practically hear your brain which is working overtime,” he said, chuckling at my overreaction.
“You know what’s going on in my head?” I said, narrowing my eyes at him.
“Of course,” he said
“I’m wondering if I should push you off this balcony right now for being so reckless,” I glared at him.
He looked at me in horror and said in a dramatic tone, “Oh my God, how could you even think of pushing such a handsome and charming neighbour?”
“Should I give you a demo then, and there are many handsome and charming neighbours,” I smirked at him.
“Tch tch Ruh, lekin mujh jaisa kind hearted, good looking, intelligent padosi aap chirag lekr dhundhongi toh bhi nhi milega, bahut demand hai meri,” he said fixing his collar.
Him and his self obsession.
I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore him, but his presence was making it hard to stay mad at him.
But he is right, I only want him as my kind hearted, good looking, intelligent neighbour-his words not mine.
“By the way, why did you come here at this hour?” I asked.
And then he started talking again, and my heart skipped a beat.
“So, here’s the thing……” he started, nervously scratching his neck.
“You….me…like….both…rain…we…kinda confessed to each other, right? So…” He trailed off, his eyes darting around like he was trying to find the right words.
I crossed my arms, raising an eyebrow, waiting for him to finish.
“So?” I asked, curiosity taking over.
“So…like…Are we dating now?” he asked, suddenly going silent and closing his eyes as I could feel his heart pumping fast inside his rib cage.
My heart was racing so fast, I could practically feel it in my throat.
Was he serious?
Did he just ask me that?
Like i have given a long speech in the park, still he can’t understand what i mean?
Offo!
But he is cute. He just came all the way at midnight just to ask me this.
This Chimpanzee.
I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks, and I prayed it was dark enough that he wouldn’t see my face turning into a tomato.
My stomach was in knots, and my mind was blank.
He looked at me, waiting for my response, but his nervousness was making me nervous too.
“I just wanted to ask….I….you know, it feels like something’s…..changing between us. And I don’t know….what we are?” he said stuttering.
I could hear the tension in his voice, and I realized this was important to him.
His words were stumbling out like he wasn’t sure what was coming next. It was kind of cute in a way.
I took a deep breath.
My heart was pounding, but somehow, I found the courage to move closer to him.
I wanted to tease him, but I didn’t.
The closeness between us, the anticipation…..it was all too much.
I stepped closer, and I could feel his breath against my skin.
His heart was beating just as fast as mine.
I stood on my tiptoes, carefully reached up to cup his jaw with my hand, and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his cheek. I kept my lips there, savoring the moment.
I lowered my voice, whispering against his lips, “Is this enough for you to know who we are to each other?”

Author’s Note-
So remember once i mentioned that I am here just for December….I’ll be taking a break. So i am extending it to jan….just jan…I am not sure whether I’ll be able to complete the story or not but I’ll take a break after Jan. As I have to give my sole focus to my studies. And i’ll join in June, Inshallahπ
See i tried to complete the story but damn the chapter numbers just increasing day by day…. initially it was about 40 chapters then 50 and now it extended to more….π And right now I barely have any time to write.
So if the story won’t get completed I am sorry…but I seriously need to take a break….I’ll continue the story in June although I know there will be just a few chapters left. Let’s see how much i will be able to complete the story in Jan. Because I usually write before going to sleep just for half an hour. So it is a little hectic for me.
I hope you will understand me.
Thank You
