I saw her standing there, her back turned to me. My heart was racing uncontrollably. I couldn’t keep my thoughts straight.
As she moved, I gently took her hand and pulled her toward me, turning her face to mine. She placed her hands on my shoulders, and I slowly moved my hands to her waist.
She looked absolutely beautiful.
She was wearing a beige-gold dress that looked soft and elegant. The fabric draped over her figure, falling just above her knees. The lantern sleeves were puffy at the wrists and they fluttered with the breeze. It made her look graceful, she didn’t even try, but still perfect in every way. She wore small gold earrings and a simple bracelet that caught the streetlights, making her glow even more.
She looked like she had stepped out of a dream.
A beautiful dream.
It all felt so natural, like everything around her was just right.
But then, she looked at me.
Her eyes were filled with anger.
No way! Vihaan get a gripped and cleared the mess you created.
She tried to pull away, but I held her tightly.
“What’s wrong with you? Let me go,” she yelled, her voice full of frustration.
“No, not now. Not ever,” I replied, pulling her even closer.
She rolled her eyes, annoyed, and kicked my foot with her sandal.
“Ouch,” I muttered, she turned back as her eyes filled with worry.
She just turned away, refusing to face me.
“Please, listen to me,” I begged, but she walked away, moving toward the other side of the park.
The wind picked up, almost as if it was trying to carry her anger to me.
I looked up at the sky. It was darkening, and I could feel the air change, it was going to rain.
“Ruhanika,” I called her, though I really wanted to call her ‘Ruh.’
But with the way she looked at me, I knew calling her by her full name would only make things worse.
“For God sake, stop calling me Ruhanika,” she snapped, turning toward me.
Her eyes were filled with tears now, and her voice trembled with anger.
“What’s wrong with you, Vihaan? Why the hell are you pushing me away?”
I didn’t know what to say. I just let her speak. Her feelings were pouring out, and I needed to let her say everything.
“Why are you doing this to me?” she asked.
“You promised me you wouldn’t ignore me, so you didn’t ignore me but you did an amazing thing by avoiding me, and I can’t stand it. Am I really that bad?” she asked, stepping closer to me. I began to step back, unsure of how to handle her words.
I didn’t know what to say.
I never pushed her away, I just can’t. But i unintentionally did in past few months.
Tears began to fall from her eyes, and I cursed myself for being the cause of her pain. I pulled her into my arms, trying to comfort her.
“Ruh,” I whispered in her ear.
She took a deep breath, but the tears kept coming, unstoppable.
I wiped them away, but it felt like they would never stop.
“You don’t know how much I miss you calling me Ruh,” she said through sobs.
“When you call me by my full name, it feels like you’re stabbing me in the heart. I hate that feeling.” She was hiccupping now, and I rubbed her back gently, feeling terrible for making her feel this way.
“I never meant to hurt you,” I said softly.
But unintentionally I did hurt her.
“Tell me,” she said, pulling back just enough to look at me.
“Why have you been avoiding me for the last few months? You’ve been acting like a stranger. I miss hearing you talk. You don’t spend time with me anymore. You’re always grumpy, always distant. Please, don’t do this to me. I can’t let you go. I can’t bear even the thought of losing you,” she said, her voice shaking.
I felt like my heart was being ripped apart. She had been holding all of this inside, overthinking everything, questioning herself.
Her insecurities were so obvious, and it hurt me even more to see her like this.
How could I have let her think she wasn’t enough?
“Tell me, Vihaan,” she continued, voice full of fear.
“Do you think I’m annoying because I overthink too much? If that’s it, I promise I’ll stop. I’ll learn to keep my thoughts to myself if it means being with you. You like sports, right? I’ll even learn about sports just to talk to you about things you enjoy. Please, just don’t push me away from you. I’ll try harder, I’ll do anything, just to be with you.”
Her words were frantic, and she was struggling to catch her breath.
I could see her starting to panic. It felt like she was spiraling into an anxiety attack.
I couldn’t stand it.
My heart shattered. I had hurt her so much, and I didn’t even realize it until now.
I hold her tighter, “Breathe, Ruh,” I whispered.
I rubbed her back gently, trying to calm her down as she struggled to breathe. Her eyes, full of tears, looked up at me. Her hazel brown eyes always look attractive and bright now looking tired.
The way she looked at me made my heart skip a beat. Her eyes are speaking the unsaid truth.
Could it be that she felt the same way about me? Was she hurting as much as I was? Was I just too blind to see it before?
“What happened, Vihaan,” she said, her voice now soft but filled with frustration.
“I know something’s been bothering you for months. Ever since the Annual Day, you’ve been acting so different. Why? What happened?,” she said, holding my hands.
“I…Ruh…I saw…Varun…you…him…” I felt a heavy weight in my chest as the memory of that day came rushing back.
I didn’t know how to explain or what to say.
“Vihaan, I’m with you,” she said, her frustration visible at first, but then it turned into a comforting calmness.
“I hated seeing you with Varun,” I almost choke out.
“Where did Varun come into this?” she asked with confusion.
“I saw both of you at the Annual Day, and it looked like you both had confessed to each other. I thought…..I thought you two were dating,” I finally told her, spilling out everything that had been bothering me.
Yeah I am the most stupid one who got to know he is dating someone else.
She looked completely shocked and said, “Why would I date Varun? When he’s already dating my cousin sister Aashika.”
She stared at me, trying to understand my confusion.
“Hainnnnnnnn?” I almost yelled in shock, still confused.
I couldn’t believe Varun was dating her sister.
“What hainnnnnnnn? Are you crazy?” she said, closing her eyes in frustration but still staring at me.
“Wait, wait, don’t tell me you were avoiding me because you thought I was with Varun?” she asked, a mix of shock and frustration in her voice.
“Well, kind of,” I admitted, still stunned by her response.
She looked at me as if she saw some weird ghost.
“Offo, kya karu main tumhara?” she said, clearly frustrated and confused about what was happening.
I couldn’t help but wonder the same about myself—kya kru me khudka? Kaha jaakr doob jaau? On which wall should I bang my head.
How could I be so stupid?
If there is an award for being the most stupid person, then I am sure I am going to be the winner.
Varun actually never like her in another way.
After realising all this, it feels like I am the real genius.
“Tumhari is bewakoofi par mujhe tumpar itna gussa aa rha hai ki mann kar rha hai tumhara bharta bana du,” she said, her voice filled with anger, as she moved around in frustration.
“Mere bharta ka pata nahi, par taste mein aaloo ka bharta mast lagta hai,” I said, trying to lighten the mood.
But she shot me a glare.
I realized the situation between us. Control yourself, Vihu! She’s angry, and who knows, she might chase you with her sandals!
Okay, fine, her sandals don’t have high heels, but trust me, they can still hurt like crazy.
I shuddered in fear. Her stare alone is enough to make me want to dig a hole and hide in it.
“Vihaan,” she glared at me, her anger still clear.
“Sit,” she said in a authorative tone.
My mind immediately responded to her words, and I sat down on the bench without thinking.
She sat next to me, and there was a long, awkward silence between us.
“Speak,” she said after a moment, her voice soft but insistent.
I looked at her in confusion.
“Speak out everything, Vihaan. Whatever you’re hiding in your heart, the feelings you’ve been carrying inside since the last few months. Just speak up,” she continued, holding my hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.
I could barely whisper, “Ruh…” I never expected she would say something like this, or that she’d want to hear all the things I’ve been hiding in my heart.
“I’m here to listen, Vihaan. Just speak your heart out. Let it all out,” she said.
The wind blew gently, causing her hair to move around her face.
Her eyes were so calm, yet they held an unsaid emotion I couldn’t quite understand.
Could it be…..that she felt something too?
I hesitated.
“Ruh, I… I…” The words wouldn’t come easily.
My mind kept replaying that moment over and over again.
Although now I know it’s not true but still it keeps haunting me.
She moved closer, gently playing with my strand of hair that had fallen across my forehead.
Her touch was soft, and when she looked at me, I suddenly felt like I could share everything with her, without fear. I didn’t need to hide anything. She wouldn’t judge me.
“It was a really tough time for me, Ruh,” I finally began, my voice shaky.
“Everyone thinks I’m just a carefree guy, that I don’t care about anything. But I do care, Ruh. I get hurt too. I…I get insecure. That day, when I saw you with Varun, I didn’t know what to do. I felt like I was losing you. Before that, I never really lost anything because I never expected anything from life. I just accepted whatever came my way. But you…you’re different. I’ll always be grateful to fate for bringing you into my life. You’re the one person I don’t ever want to lose.”
I stopped for a moment, trying to steady my breath. The words came rushing out like a flood.
“I just want to be with you, Ruh. But when I saw you hugging Varun, it felt like someone pierced my heart. I couldn’t breathe. It was like the air was taken from my lungs. I thought…I thought…I mean we can be together and it was such a beautiful dream I didn’t want to wake up from. But when I saw that… I felt like I had lost you forever.”
I paused, my voice cracking.
“I get so hurt sometimes, Ruh. The insecurities overpowers my thinking capability. I lose my mind thinking I’m not good enough for you. I’m not as good as Varun, or as talented. I thought…maybe I wasn’t the right guy for you. I thought…..maybe you deserve someone better.”
Before I could say more, I felt her finger gently touch my lips. My breath caught in my throat.
Her finger….on my lips.
She held my hand and stood me up, leading me out into the open. The wind was still blowing, and the trees swayed gently. The streetlights cast a warm golden glow on her face, making her look almost angelic.
“First, relax. Take a deep breath,” she said, guiding me to breathe slowly.
I did as she asked, trying to calm my racing heart.
She looked at me intently. “Ruh…” I said, but she raised her finger, signaling me to stop.
“I’m sorry if I overreacted,” I continued, feeling embarrassed.
“But this is what I feel in the last few months, it was surely a hell. I felt like I wasn’t special to you. Like I was just a normal guy in your life. I was afraid that…you might…forget about me, or that you’d choose someone else.”
She smiled, and in that moment, I saw something sparkle in her eyes, something I hadn’t noticed before.
“You don’t need to overthink, Vihaan,” she said with a chuckle. “That’s my department.” She laughed lightly, and I couldn’t help but smile along with her.
She turned serious again, but her eyes were soft and kind.
“Vihaan, let me tell you something very clearly,” she said.
“You are more than enough for me. You don’t need to be anything else. I like you exactly the way you are. I like when you wait for me at school, and when we walk home together after school. I like it when you hold my hand, making me feel safe. I like the way you’re always there, always looking out for me. And i like when you hold me whenever I almost fall, I actually fall a lot, don’t know why,” she added, laughing softly. I couldn’t help but remember the first time we met and how we argue over silly things.
“I like how you trust me enough to share your thoughts. That’s what shows me how much you care. It’s not about looks or anything else. It’s about the person you are.”
My mind was still racing, trying to process everything she was saying. I never expected her to say these things.
I had thought I wasn’t enough for her, but here she was, telling me that I was.
She stood up, walking towards the bench. The streetlights didn’t reach that far, so I couldn’t see clearly what she had in her hand. My heart was pounding in my chest.
What did she mean by all this? Was this really happening? Or was I dreaming?
She came back to me, holding something small in her hand.
“Vihaan,” she said, looking into my eyes with an intensity that made my heart race.
“You are important to me. You are precious to me.”
I stood there, frozen, as I tried to absorb her words. Was this real? I felt like my brain wasn’t working properly. Was everything she said a dream? Was she really saying this to me?
Her eyes were sincere, and the way she held my gaze made me feel like I could finally breathe again.
She looked at me with a soft smile and said, “I’ve been wanting to tell you how I feel for a while now, but words never seemed enough. I finally gathered the courage.”
She handed me a small bouquet, and my heart raced.
What was happening? Was this real? I was stunned, trying to make sense of everything, but my thoughts were a blur. My stomach twisted in a knot, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was on the edge of something life-changing.
I can faint at any moment, right now.
“Daffodil,” she said, her voice steady. “It symbolizes new beginnings. I remember when we first met. We were strangers, or maybe kind of enemies, honestly. We fought over marks, exchanged sharp words, and pretended to hate each other. But looking back, we didn’t really hate each other. I didn’t know you back then, but something about you caught my attention. Something I couldn’t ignore. And that was the start of everything.”
Enemies or Rivals? Yeah, I guess we started like that. Back then, I never would’ve imagined we’d be here, in this moment. Who knew that little rivalry would lead to this?
She then pulled out a tulip, holding it out to me with care.
“Tulip,” she continued. “At first, it was just admiration. A growing respect for who you were. I started noticing the little things, how kind you were, how thoughtful. My feelings for you were still new, but it was more than just seeing you as a classmate or a neighbour or my father’s best friend’s son. I started to admire you for who you really are.”
Admiration? She admired me? Damn, I’m really a gone case right now. But then again, I’ve been the one admiring her all along, even when I didn’t know her. I remember the first time I saw her in the balcony. I hadn’t even seen her face clearly, but somehow, my heart knew. It just knew she is the one.
Next, she brought out a Sunflower, its vibrant yellow petals shining in the dim streetlight.
“Sunflower,” she said, her eyes soft. “It represents friendship. After that admiration, we started spending more time together. We walked to school, ate lunch together, and you even forced me to sit with you just to figure out how I managed to top the exams. Slowly, we became friends. It wasn’t about hating each other anymore. It was about those quiet moments, those long talks, and the laughter that made me realize I trusted you. You became my safe place.”
Damn, I miss those days when all I wanted was to annoy her. She looked so cute when she got mad, her cheeks would puff up in frustration, and her nose would scrunch in anger. I like when she blushes whenever i flirt with her.
But wait? Safe place? I always thought I was just the annoying guy she had to put up with. But here she is, saying I’m her ‘safe place.’ That feels different. Feels… right.
She revealed a Lavender next, its petals simple.
“Lavender,” she said. “It represents calm, loyalty, and trust. It’s simple, yet it holds so much meaning. Over time, I started seeing you differently. From all the disagreements to the quiet moments we shared, I began trusting you more than I ever thought I could. You became someone I could depend on, someone I couldn’t imagine being without.”
A simple flower for something that feels so deep. I guess the more we spent time together, the more I realized I wasn’t just ‘filling space’ in her life. I was becoming someone important to her.
Then, she brought out a Carnation.
“Carnation,” she said. “It symbolizes unspoken feelings. As we spent more time together, I started feeling something more for you. Something deeper than friendship. I began to feel it in my chest when you were near. My heart would race, and I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I didn’t want to admit it, but I knew—
I was falling for you.”
Falling for me? I thought it was just me. I thought I was the only one who couldn’t stop thinking about her, who couldn’t stop feeling every little thing when she was around. But hearing her say it out loud? It’s real. She actually feels the same way.
I stared at her, a little breathless, my heart beating faster than before. I never expected to hear those words from her, not like this. It felt like a dream.
Next, she revealed a lily.
“Lily,” she said. “It symbolizes purity. By now, I couldn’t hide it anymore. My feelings for you weren’t just attraction, they were deep, real, and pure. I realized that I wanted something lasting with you. Not just for a moment, but for something meaningful. I wanted to build something real with you.”
Build something real? My heart skipping a beat. I’ve been thinking the same thing. It’s not just about what we have now, the moments we share in the present. It’s about what could come next—the future. A future where she is there.
And then, with a deep breath, she took out the final flower—a Red rose.
“And this… this is a Red Rose,” she said. “It symbolizes love. This is how I feel now. Deeply, passionately, completely. All these stages of my feelings have led me here. To you. To this bond. I’ve fallen for you in ways I didn’t expect. In ways that have completely changed me.”
The red rose. The timeless symbol of deep affection. And here I stand, my heart racing with emotions that I can barely keep up with. She speaks of her feelings for me, no doubt, no hesitation, just pure care. I wish to speak, but it feels as though my heart has already said everything I feel.
She paused for a moment, and I saw the hope in her eyes. “I’m no longer afraid to say it. And I want to be here with you, through every stage, and every moment. Will you be with me, too?”
I saw Ruh, her eyes filled with tears as she cried softly, and I could feel the sting of tears in my own eyes too.
My head is spinning. I want to respond, but I don’t need to think anymore. I don’t need to wait. I’ve known for a while now that she’s everything I never knew I needed. And now that she’s standing here, telling me everything…..just tell her Vihaan.
I stepped closer, looking into her eyes, and smiled.
She did say it.
As I smiled and moved closer to her, the soft raindrops started falling on us. The cold droplets made me shiver, but her gaze gave me the warmth I needed.
As I stepped closer, I wrapped my arms around her waist. My hands touched her waist, she looked at me, with rain falling on her face. A foolish smile never left my face, knowing that Ruh felt the same way about me.
I pulled her closer, our faces just inches apart.
I tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and said, “Ruh, you are the missing variable I’ve been searching for—the variable that fits in the Equation and makes everything fall into place.”
She smiled at me and replied, “Then, let’s write our own Equations Of Love, where every step leads to forever.”
I smiled back as the rain poured on us, holding her even tighter. She wrapped her arms around me, and I felt so special, something I never thought I could feel for someone.
I hugged her more tightly as I realized she was right there with me.
After a while, she looked at me and smiled, but then her eyes fell on something, and I saw a look of horror on her face.
“What happened, Ruh?” I asked as she walked over to a bench and picked something up.
“This is my diary, which I turned into a letter scrapbook,” she said, and the book was drenched in rain.
She quickly moved toward the shade area in the park.
“I actually… ahh, this is my diary. It’s… filled with everything about you. I… ahh, well, I’ve written down everything I’ve felt for you over time and for you I turned it into a scrapbook,” she said, a pink tint appearing on her face as she looked at the scrapbook.
“I’m sorry, I made this as a special birthday gift for you, but now it’s ruined,” she said, tears streaming down her face.
I pulled her into a hug and whispered, “You don’t need to apologize, Ruh.”
“I already got the best birthday gift, which is in my arms right now,” I said as I hugged her tightly.
She smiled, and after a few moments, we slowly pulled away from each other.
But then her hair got caught in the button of my shirt, and I carefully untangled it. Our faces were so close now, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. For God sake why my heart is beating fast inside me?
I’ve been close to her before, but this time felt completely different.
We were so close, I couldn’t feel any space between us.
Her lips were so close to mine, I could almost feel the warmth of her breath. I could hear her heart racing, matching the rapid beat of mine. My throat went dry, and I swallowed hard as a raindrop slowly trickled down her lips, glistening in the dim light. The cold touch of the rain made her skin shimmer and the warmth stirred inside me.
It was like time had frozen, everything around us faded, leaving only the soft sound of rain and the electric tension between us.
The moment felt perfect, but then fate ruined it.
I sneezed.
What a way to ruin the moment!
She chuckled lightly and ruffled my drenched hair.
“Let’s go before we both catch a cold,” she said.
I took her hand, and we ran towards our home.
She blushed a lot.
I couldn’t believe it.
We confessed to each other.
She actually confessed to me.
As I opened the door, I forgot about my family—especially her family.
My mom immediately started yelling.
“Ruhii, Vihaan, where were you? You know how worried I was, and look at you both, drenched in rain” she scolded.
“Adhya Mam- uhmm Aunty, I forgot my phone, so I went back to get it, Ruh said, looking at my mom.
“Ruhii, you’re drenched! You’ll catch a cold and Vihaan you also go and change,” her mom said, worried.
What should I say?
“Mom, my friend called me to wish me, and the network wasn’t working, so I went outside to talk to my friend,” i said and my mom eventually relaxed.
Prisha Di came with towels and gave one to me and Ruh.
“Ruhii, the rain is pouring heavily. Come with me, and change in my room,” Prisha Di said, taking Ruh with her.
I walked to my room, and my eyes met Kunal Bhai’s.
Damn it.
He was glaring at me but didn’t say anything.
As I walked past him, Kunal Bhai cleared his throat.
“What?” I tried to act normal, though I could feel his glare.
“Your phone,” he said, and I relaxed.
Oh it’s about phone.
“It fell when you ran out of the house. How did you talk to your friend without your phone?,” he asked, eyeing me suspiciously.
“Yeah, actually my phone got lost. My friend…a call…rain…her soft lips” I stuttered, trying to explain.
I cursed myself for uttering nonsense and especially in front of Ruh’s brother. He looked at me in confusion.
Breaking News – A kind and handsome young man, deeply in love with his Ruh, was tragically killed by her elder brother.
And then I sneezed again.
“Vihaan, first go and change. You’ll get sick,” he said, and I nodded before running to my room.
My sneeze saved me this time.
I quickly changed and danced happily inside my room.
My Ruh is finally with me.
Yes!
I plopped down on my bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to stop smiling. It all felt surreal.
She’s with me.
I felt like crying from happiness.
All the emotions came rushing in. I looked at the flowers she had given me, each one representing her feelings.
I danced around the room until I fell beside my bed.
Ouch it hurts bad!
But the foolish smile never left my face.

Finally Chapter 43…!!!
So how was the chapter…??
Damn i love this chapter 😭✨
I swear I did a lot of hard work in this chapter.
Flowers are the love language which I will prefer.
About the flowers thing I actually searched so if something is missing or wrong so ignore it😭
As I researched and it says flowers can symbolise different things in different context. But still if something is worng then ignore it’s a fictional story🤧
