Happy B-day mr. Raiden! (II.)
ft. Poosays

” 고양이 보단 강아지 같이 “

“Happy birthday mr. Raiden!”

Scaramouche stood and blinked, slowly looking around his surroundings. Most jumped out from hiding spots such as behind counters and the nurse’s room that was connected to the main office. He was able to make out familiar faces of his homeroom, and Y/n’s. A few of them held a cake nearby with candles flickering in their small movements. Some were popping party poppers, but everyone was collectively watching for the teacher’s reaction. “You-“

A sigh escaped his lips, as the teacher looked down and indigo bangs covered his face. Y/n turned her head towards him in anticipation, then around the crowd with a nervous lip bite. Everyone looked at one another with horrified expressions, assuming things went downhill.

“You’re all idiots.”

When Scaramouche raised his head back up, a tiny, microscopic smile was on his face. There was a moment of silence that followed. A cheer came from everyone, as they brought the cake closer to the teacher. More poppers popped, spreading confetti across the floors and air.

As he hesitantly blew the candles in one go, the party officially started. Music began blasting from the mini speakers, and students brought out the snacks on a table nearby. It was a relief that the Inazuma office was big enough to hold two full classes. A few students shyly brought wrapped gifts over to Scaramouche, which he awkwardly accepted. He assumed most were by parents instead of the students… But it meant something.

Kunikuzushi stared wordlessly at the scene unfolded ahead of him. Y/n was standing on one of the tables with a microphone in hand, singing along to the songs blasting out to her heart’s content. Many gathered around her, dancing, recording, poledancing on the supports…? Other teachers came to pop by after hearing the commotion in the normally dead silent office. His eyes subconsciously moved to the doors of the principal’s office. They were wide open.

“…Happy birthday, Scaramouche.” A feminine voice spoken out behind him. Kunikuzushi turned around to see the expected face of Ei. She had a small box in hand, wrapped in blue and white wrapping paper with a neat bow on top. “You’re 27 this year, right?”

He hesitated, but eventually accepted the box. “Yeah..” After that, the tension began to rise at a rapid pace. Ei soon excused herself to get a slice of the cake, while Scaramouche stood there, staring at the box. It was a little bigger than his hand, and the contents didn’t feel too heavy. As much as he didn’t want to admit.. This was probably the biggest party he had ever attended to in his life.

Without anyone noticing, the corners of his lips began to tilt upwards as he looked over at the crowds of teenagers, helplessly having fun. “My my~ how fun does this look? Happy birthday, Kunikuzushi.”

His smile faded as soon as he heard the familiar teasing voice beside him. “…Yae. What do you want.” “So harsh, you wound me.” She placed a hand on her chest, before pulling something out of her pocket. “A little reminder that nobody loves you, shortie.” The pinkette handed him a gift card of some sort and vanished into the crowd, off to find snacks for herself.

The male had to keep himself from jumping at his coworker as she leisurely walked to the food table. Instead, he tossed the small paper bag into the larger bag of gifts that Y/n had prepared in advance.

“Whew! Those teenagers are sure party monsters, it’s already dark.” Scaramouche stared at his companion with a raised brow, but held back his tongue. “I don’t think you’re the one to be talking.” The two teachers entered the shared house, turning on the light switches. Y/n went to her room, while Scaramouche headed to his own.

Kunikuzushi buried himself in his thoughts as he changed into a plain shirt and basketball shorts. But suddenly, all the events of the past week suddenly made sense now. How she hid her text messages whenever he was nearby, and times when certain things were missing from their places. It appeared that she was good at hiding things more than he presumed.

“Scara! Can you come downstairs for a minute?” He turned to the door and sighed. Clicking the exit open, he softly thumped down the stairs. All the lights were out, making it appear much darker than it was before. “What’s happ-“

The lights turned on, revealing his roommate blowing on a party horn and a green cake on the dining table. “I never really got to say happy birthday, so I thought we should have a mini party at home instead!” She smiled, lowering the blower down. “You didn’t eat anything back at the office, didn’t you?”

He blankly stared, out of words at that point. She ushered him to the table, and her happy birthday song came through one ear and went out through the other. His head rang. An almost uncomfortable swelling feeling took place in the middle of his chest.. Scaramouche stared at the flickering candles on the cake. He didn’t make any comments or minded the alcohol bottle in the middle of the cake.

“Come on old man, make a wish!”

“….Wish?” Y/n rolled her eyes, pushing the cake closer to him. “Yes, a wish. You know, what people make after they blow the candles. You’ve never made a birthday wish before..?”

Kunikuzushi didn’t say anything, but stayed silent for another moment. Soon, he leaned in and softly blew the candles, for the second time just that day. His roommate cheered by the side as if he had just won a marathon, bringing out two small plates seemingly out of nowhere. She reached for the soju bottle, popping it open as he sliced the dessert.

“Cheers!”

“…..”

The two drank the first shot of the bittersweet beverage, before each took a bite of the cake. Y/n immediately began coughing at the expected bitterness, moving her head to the side. Scaramouche stared at the bread, surprised by the lack of the sharp sweetness that stuck to the roof of his mouth for hours. He stared at the dying female as he took another bite, debating whether he should go help or make a comment.

Cough Ugh, this is what satan would eat on a Monday morning after he woke up with a flaming hot pillow, his blanket on the short side, his alarm clock dead, went downstairs and found his wife having sex with his brother.” She coughed one more time before having another sip of the alcohol. To think this was the same teacher he met on the first day.. “How does it taste? I used up two whole containers of matcha powder to make it!”

Now that he thought of it- “Was this why there was no matcha for the past week?” She rubbed her nape awkwardly, smiling. “Hey, it was going to end up in your stomach either way, potato tomato.” He shook his head, before taking another bite. The cream was barely sweetened, but the soft texture was there. There was a huge hole in the middle of the cake because of the soju bottle, but he didn’t mind.

Things returned to as it was. Y/n blabbed away about the substitutide in her class earlier in the day, and about everything that happened during the party planning. Even when he was finished with the cake, he remained seated at the table. The clock read past 11 at night, but the two were wide awake.

“-And so, that’s why you got kicked out to meet with Cyno that day!”

“…You were the one who planned that?”

“Ehe…”

Like that, Y/n’s eyes widened in realization before excusing herself in a hurry. Scaramouche watched with an unfazed expression as she ran into her room, almost slipping and falling on a slipper on the ground. He shook his head softly and got out of the seat to pick them up. The day was eventful. Kunikuzushi felt.. Strange. It felt nice to have people celebrate the day of his existence, and someone to have dinner with on the same table.

His indigo eyes turned to look at the half-eaten cake on the table, with used candles tossed to one side on a spare plate. A tiny smile formed on his lips, before his roommate came bursting out of her room.

“Ta daa! Your present, it took real work to keep it hidden from you for a whole week.” She presented a rather large box to him. It was a plain sage green with a yellow butterfly decoration at the top. He hesitantly accepted it with two hands. The box itself was the size to fit a full basket ball, but felt surprisingly light. “What are you waiting for? Open open.”

Gently taking the butterfly off, he placed it on the couch. Just as he was about the shake the contents lightly, something came from the box. A.. Noise? “What the hell is this..” “Hey, that’s rude. Just trust and open.” He pursed his lips in suspicion and barely opened the lid, taking a small peek in. His eyes widened in surprise as he was met with another pair of eyes, staring at him curiously.

Opening it fully, it revealed an almost purplish black cat that meowed at him loudly.

“His name is Kabuki. I found him near the cafe you ordered udon at when we were having lunch with Ei!” Y/n took the feline out of the box, carrying him like a baby. “Isn’t he the cutest?? And don’t worry, I took him to the vet and everything.” She nuzzled her cheek into Kabuki’s head, as he meowed again in responce. Scaramouche watched the two with a dumbfounded expression with the box still in his hands.

Everything felt strange.

“There’s one more thing inside the box.”

He snapped out of his trance and tossed the lid onto the couch, reaching into find a light pink envelope with a flower sticker seal. Just as he was bracing for a corny letter, he only found a small sticky note folded neatly. Y/n only cheekily grinned when he looked at her in expectation.

Congrats! You’ve officially subscribed for 1 year  free trial for daily Notes. From today until  next year,  the recipient will receive daily notes delivered to their desk. The contents of the notes is not customizable.

“My notes services are very expensive, I’m giving you an extra long free trial. Be thankful.” Y/n proudly crossed her arms after gently shoving Kabuki into his arms. The baby feline cuddled into his stiff chest and began to purr as Scaramouche awkwardly stood there and stared at it.

Kunikuzushi heard the click of a camera as a certain teacher stood by the doorway with her phone. “Awe, look at you two~ Now help me bring up the cat tower to your room or I’m dropping it on you.”

Everything felt… Strange.

“I, the prinzessin der verurteilung of the Immernachtreich Apokalypse is honored to have thee bask in my presence.” The blonde girl placed a hand on her chest, her eyes gleaming with excitement. She had a black corset with deep purple ribbons, along with a laced dress that reached just below her knees. A pair of fishnet gloves covered her pale palms, matching stockings above her combat boots.

One word, goth.

The young lady continued. “This academical environment is most splendid. I am very impressed by the ornaments that decorate thy teaching space.” The teacher smiled and placed a hand beneath her chin at the compliment. She was wearing an oversized striped sweater with a plain skirt underneath, swinging her legs back and forth underneath the desk. “Why, thank you. It took me a graciously long time for me to collect these trinkets from afar.” Y/n played along in an elegant voice.

“Thy name is.. Fischl, correct?” “You are utmost correct. I am Fischl von Luftchloss Narfidort, who has entered the gates of Teyvat royal academy in order to gain the needed knowledge for my crown.” A taller male smiled politely on a seat beside her. He had a slightly darker skin tone with almost neon violet locks, likely around his late thirties.

“Her highness was homeschooled in the palace until now, as her powers were uncontrollable before her coming of age.” The male brought out a file of papers, sliding it over to the teacher’s direction. “My name is Oz, her highness’s royal tutor and servant. It is lovely to meet you.”

“Well, your highness, I shall be your main academic successor in areas of art.” She took the papers and placed them on the side to take a look at later. Fischl looked impressed at the conversation and nodded. “I will also be your homeroom teacher, meaning you will assemble with your fellow classmates here before heading off to your tutors. Are you alright with that?” “That sounds most wonderful! Do we get to walk to our classes alone? Are the lockers in the hallway in use??”

The blonde took a pause before her cheeks flared red. “I- I mean, cough, I do wonder if the students of the academy are to move to our next sessions without anything in between? And perhaps, the storage spaces by the grand halls are all occupied?” Y/n held back a chuckle and crossed her legs. She was probably having more fun than the girl herself.

“To answer thee question, yes, students move to their next classes once their previous ones end. There are occasional breaks in between to reach their lockers, and lunch breaks of course.” Pieces of paper held together by a cat shaped paperclip was passed onto the two. Oz accepted the file, skimming through the pages quickly. “Those are your class timings, locker number and such. Take extra caution to not lose it.”

After a few minutes of the roleplay conversation, Fischl excused herself to the washroom to freshen herself. Y/n and Oz watched the blonde exit the room with light steps and soon turned to each other.

“Well, Fischl seems like a lovely girl.” She stated while taking a sip of her drink. “She is indeed. Her parents are quite worried for her, as it is her second time going to a public school.” Oz breathed out like a troubled father, smoothing the wrinkles on his button up. “As you were likely inform of, I’ve been Fischl’s counselor for six years now. She… Didn’t exactly have the best experience in amongst her old elementary school peers, and was homeschooled until now.” He admitted with a more serious expression.

Y/n placed her drink down and reached for the previous papers given to her. “I see. Don’t worry, I can tell she’s going to get along great with people around here. Fischl’s such a fun girl, I’m sure she’ll make lots of friends.” The teacher reassured as she read over the notes with squinted eyes.

According to the files, Fischl was a maladaptive daydreamer and had a hard time focusing on reality. That made a great amount of sense, but Y/n decided against saying anything. “I’m relieved she got a teacher like you assigned to her homeroom. But I do have some worries in her math classes.” She turned to face the male with a raised brow. “Hm, most of her classes aren’t really associated with math anyway. Art, drama, literature, Mondstadt history, foundation math seems to be the only one. Is it a bit of challenge for her?”

“Indeed. Fischl has a rather difficult time focusing on the subject, and her confidence for it isn’t great.” Oz said softly as the female listened carefully.

“Most of her classes are in Mondstadt, but may I ask why her art is in mine instead of mr. Kreideprinz?” She tilted her head with genuine curiosity. The ravenette lifted his head slightly and stared at the list of classes Fischl chose. “We have spoken to him previously, and he recommended you for Fischl instead. Although, now I can understand his reason perfectly.” Y/n’s eyes widened ever so slightly at the mention of an unexpected individual. They had met a few times and greeted each other, but never really had the chance to properly talk.

“Alas, I have returned. Has been there any conversations of importance that I must be knowledged on?” Fischl entered the classroom as she headed towards the table. The two adults gave each other a glance before turning to the girl with smiles. “I do not believe so. I was informing ms. L/n on how sir Kreideprinz reccomended her.” “Ah, him. Sir Kreideprinz seemed like a knowledgeable individual, but a little bland for my taste.” The blonde turned to her future homeroom teacher with sparkling eyes. “I must admit, that I much rather prefer madame L/n.”

Y/n laughed softly. “I am honored to receive such statement by her highness. But as much as I would love to continue on our conversation..” She turned to the bright neon yellow clock by the side of the room. “It is about time we draw the curtains for tonight. I look forward to the day I finally receive the honours to host you amongst my students~” “I do too. Oz, we shall get going. I shall tell mother and father all about today once we arrive at the imperial palace.”

The girl got up from her seat, taking one last around the room again. She seemed interested in the small area with fairy lights and tents, which the teacher was more than excited to see her reaction someday once they were on. Y/n turned to Oz. “Her schedule begins tomorrow, am I right?” The male nodded. “Yes. I do apologize for the sudden news, our assigned classes were switched around last minute.” He sweatdropped at the memory. The h/c teacher waved it off and bid the two farewells as they returned to the main office.

The room soon became quiet, filled with soft hums of random tunes and rustling of papers. Y/n stood up from her desk and began packing up for the day- it was already past 6.

“Ms… L/n?” A soft, masculine voice came by the door. She turned her body to see the owner of the voice, to see a familiar young man with faded blonde hair. Albedo stood beside the entrance with a clipboard in hand. “Good evening. I’m guessing Fischl and Oz left?” Y/n stood up from her squatting position over the small shrine and smiled. “Yep. Wonderful people, aren’t they?” “Yes, I just forgot to give you the passcode to her report card systems. Here.”

Albedo passed her a sickey note with a few words and numbers as she took it and stuck it on the back of her phone case. The female thanked him, but stopped him just as he was about to leave. “-Wait! Would you like to have coffee today?” He turned back around with a surprised face. “I have nothing else to do after this, want to go to a cafe? I’ve went out for a drink with just about every teacher in this school except you.” Y/n smiled with her hands behind her.

Her last sentence terrified the poor blonde. How does someone somehow meet the hundreds of staff in this building in less than a year…

“I don’t see why not. I’m guessing to Starsnatch?”

“Yep. See you there by 6:30!”

As Albedo left back to his class, he just barely noticed the classroom next door slam shut.
