*Vanessa’s POV*

I sat in my room, my Mp3 snug in my hands as I flipped through the songs, looking for ‘Animal’ be neon tree’s. The lyrics had just started when a voice cut through my happy music time. “Give it up Jessie! Your completely wrong on this one!” Tristan shouted.

“Oh yeah, I’M the one that’s wrong” Jessie snapped back sarcastically. Sigh, time to go break up yet anther of their fights. I had been so sure they’d end up together to, there personalities were perfect for one an other. Or so I thought…

I rolled off my bed and hurried down the hall, not bothering to knock on my brothers door I barged right in. “What are you two fighting about n…..” I trailed off. Jessie was holding in giggle’s and Tristan was looking at me smugly.

“YOU TWO ARE BACK TOGETHER?!” I screech and tackle first Tristan, then Jessie in a hug. “OMG OMG OMG! When?!?!!?” I gush girlishly, making Jessie blush.

“Get off my boyfriend..” Tristan grumble’s.

“WHEN?! Why wasn’t I informed of this!?!?!” I say fanatically.

“Off.” Tristan re-grumble’s.

I release Jessie from my death grip and he lets out a big over exaggerated burst of breath. I slap him roughly on the shoulder. “When!!!” my eye’s are probably so big that there fish eyed.

Jessie laughs wiry. “Just an hour ago. Paul knows”

“Gah!” I tackle/hug him again making Tristan send me envious looks.

When I let go of Jessie I clap my hands together in ecstatic happiness. Then I frown. “Oh wait.. If your back together why were you fighting?” I ask confused.

“Cuz he’s a little idiot” Tristan says fondly.

“And he’s an blind unevolved brute” Jessie replies sweetly. I blink.

“So, wait, what’s this fight over?”

“Who’s cuter” Jessie sighs dreamily, then realizes what he just said and clears his throat in a manly fashion. Tristan and me giggle. “If you ever tell anyone I did that, I’ll kill you” he warns.

“So Ness.. Who’s cuter?” Tristan drawls.

“hmm” I scrunch up my forehead. “Jessie I suppose, because anything that has a blood relation to me has no right to be cute. Plus he’s just like a puppy dog!” I squeak the last part.

Tristan beams smugly in victory and Jessie sticks his tongue out at us.

“I always knew you two would end up together” I brag.

“Fine, fine. You were right, were morons” Tristan hmp’s.

“Awe, Don’t feel bad. Guys are just naturally not as smart as girls. Even gay one’s” I pat Jessie’s back in sympathy. Tristan scowls. “Aright, enough physical contact with my boyfriend already”

I chortle “Oh yeah, I’m tottaaallllyy trying to steal Jessie from you”

“Better not be” “I’m offended” Tristan and Jessie growl at the same time.

“Aw Boo, I’ll make you feel better” Tristan steals and capture’s Jessie in a kiss.

I ‘Ewww’ really loud and leave the room in giggle’.

*Jessie’s POV*

You know how some people say that your room really reflects your true self? I hope Tristan didn’t think that about me, because then I was a tiny cheap tacky mess-just like my forsaken room. And to make thing worse, Tristan was snooping every time I had my back turned.

“Hey!” I yelped as he tugged on a drawer. This particular drawer had my underwear in it, and I was pleased to find that it hadn’t clattered open before I’d gotten to him. He smiled devilishly in reply and plopped back on my bed, grabbing my wrist so I fell on top of him.

All business, he kissed at my neck making me shudder and wriggle. A hand pressed against my lower back, keeping me against him forcefully. A moan bubbled from between my lips before I could even think to restrain myself. Tristan smiled against my neck.

“Easy there tiger, keep up the noise and we won’t have to explain anything to your parents.”

“Shut up” I grumbled with a blush.

He laughed, his lips lightly brushing against my skin making tingle’s dance down my spine. I push against his chest, pulling away and making him pout. He lets me though, and I roll off him onto my bed. “You never let me have any fun” he whine’s.

I brave a kiss on his cheek and then stand. “I think we gotta go tell my family now. Cuz for once, were all in the house” my words don’t make his pouty expression go away, but it does spark a strange protectiveness in his eye’s.

We walk down the hall, and I knock on the room that Kelsey, Kelso, and Ryan share. “Guys get to the living room, we need to talk” I shout, then hurry on without waiting for a reply. In the living room, my mom and dad are having a beer and talking awkwardly. Ryan’s playing with toy cars on the floor.

“Hey” I say softly, earning both my mom and dads attention.

“What up kid?” my dad asks good naturedly.

” Need to tell everyone something” I can’t help but notice that my grave voice strike’s fear into my mom and dad’s eye’s. Even Ryan looks up from his game, sensing excitement. They eye Tristan, who stands next to me awkwardly. I wish I was brave enough to take his hand or something.

Soon Kelsey and Kelso clatter down the stairs. Kelso take’s one look from me to Tristan and his eye’s flash disgust and his lip curls. Tristan looks back with pure loathing, and I don’t doubt that this might turn into a fight. I catch Tristan’s eye, giving him a warning look. He inclines his head in a faint nod.

Kelsey however can sense her twins hatred and is confused. She’s also quick to catch onto the present tension in the room, and being out of characteristically twin like, she take’s Kelso’s arm and tug him onto the couch next to her, brow furrowed.

After a few intimidating moments of staring at my family well they stare back, I awkwardly clear my throat.

“Hey. I just, wanted to.. You know. Talk to you guys about something. Because it’s been on my mind for a while now.. And since you’re my family.. I know you’ll still love me and understand.”

I think mom has already guessed, because her eye’s are huge saucers of white. My dad looks uncertain, like maybe he’s being punked. Kelsey doesn’t get it, Kelso’s sneering, And Ryan is quickly losing interest. I close my eye’s and let out a long breath. “I’m gay and Tristan’s my boyfriend”

Silence is my answer. Scary silence. I can’t even hear Tristan breathing next to me. Finally, I make myself open my eye’s. Mom starts hyperventilating, seeing as I’m serious. Dad… is blank faced? Kelso is looking around, nodding like he agrees with something. Kelsey is making up her mind as to how she feels about this.. Ryan… breaks the silence.

“What’s that?” he asks, his small baby-like voice a comfort to my ears. My baby brother.. My naïve innocent eyed little brother, who doesn’t understand the concept of a sexuality is not repulsed. He’s perfectly oblivious. I think I love him more then I ever have in my life.

“You know when boys and girls kiss and hold hands?” I ask in my big-brother voice.

He scrunches his face is distaste “Like on TV?”

“Yes, like on TV. Well I don’t like to kiss and hold hands with girls. I like to do it with other boys” I explain, trying to keep calm. I’m shaking now, shaking from lack of reaction from my family. Am I going to be kicked out for being an unnatural abomination?

Ryan however, bless his little soul, is staring at me. Marvelling. He’s awestruck by something, though I don’t understand what. “That’s so smart!” he finally squeals. “That way boys won’t catch cooties from girls anymore!” he claps, proud of my oh-so-great discovery.

Then he sets off the bomb. “I’mma be gay to!” he announces.

“NO YOUR NOT!” My mom is hysterical. Her voice is so high it could shatter glass.

“Mom…” I start, but am cut off.

“Are you sure it’s not just a phase?” my dad counters.

“Positive” I reply, crushing their hopes. “I’ve never been attracted to a girl in my life” I admit that little dark secret. My dad rubs the back of his neck, feeling awkward. “I thought you had a girlfriend?” he counters as a last resort.

Tristan give’s me a What-The-Fuck look. I take his hand in assurance. “No dad. I was… well I was kind of making fun of you. All you ever asked about was sports and girls. Did you ever stop to think that maybe I didn’t like either?”

He pale’s, but my next critic starts up. “So this is the real deal?” Kelsey asks, looking at me and Tristan’s intertwined hands. I nod “Yeah Kelsey, it really is” I say softly. She give’s me a reassuring small smile. “That’s cool” she comforts me.

“Why can’t I be gay?” Ryan whine’s loudly. Mom harshly shushes him.

Kelso is on his feet now, fuming. “What’s wrong with you people!?” he turns to our parents for support. “Aren’t you going to punish him? Send him away to get cured?!!? Your sons a Fag! He’s wrong, demented!

He has no right to be alive!” he shouted the last part to the heavens.

Tears form in my eye’s, but I don’t let them spill. “Kelso..” I start, but my boyfriend beats me to it.

“Listen here you little shit!” he storms across the room, grabbing the collar of Kelso’s shirt. “You ever say anything like that again” he’s slowly lifted him in the air by his shirt…

“Tristan! Cut it out!” I snap, running over to get my boyfriend to set my homophobic brother on his feet.

He does set Kelso down, but then Kelso tries to throw him a punch. Tristan being the damn sexy hunk that he is (I know-bad time to be admiring his abs, right? Can’t help it I’m a teenage boy! Even gay I still have hormone’s!) catches Kelso’s arm and twists it behind his back.

My family looks horrified and startled. “Ok, enough!” I separate them and stand in between the separate parties. “Kelso, just shut it, okay? I’m pretty sure mom and dad are on your side, so just shut it. You win, okay? I’m probably going to be disowned form this family anyways, so back the fuck off”

He give’s me a death glare and sits back down. Kelsey scoots away from him like he’s the disgusting one. She looks none to pleased at his reaction. I give her a thankful look, then turn back to Tristan. “As for you…” I should probably yell at him, but I can’t bring myself to. “Thanks” I murmur, and give him a warm hug. I feel him touch me hair, and when I pull back my families watching like it’s a soap opera.

Well, most of my family. Ryan’s gone back to toy cars.

“Can we…. Talk to you?” my mom asks, her voice astonishingly small.

“We are talking” I reply.

“In…Private?” her eye’s linger on Tristan.

I shake my head no. “Mom… can you just tell me whether or not you still love me? I don’t feel like hanging around and playing these stupid little mind game’s. Do you accept it , or not?”

Long pause. And despite my bold words I feel like a little kid who wants his mommy. After an eternity of waiting my mom gets off the couch and hugs me. I hug her back tightly. “Of course I do baby. I’ll always love you, no matter what” she rubs my back.

I sigh in relive. “Okay… good. I love you to mom…. But I don’t feel like sticking around, you know? Me and Tristan are going to… take a walk. Well be back soon, okay?” she nods blankly, and I tug Tristan out of the house and into the cool night air.

The sky’s a lovely midnight blue above us, and you can easily count stars and see our breath. We walk, hands intertwined, neither caring who see’s us. It’s a beautiful moonless night and soon enough I’ve lead him to a park.

I sit down on the playground and he sits below me so were at the same level.

“So that was…. Different” I say with a wry smile.

“It certainly was” he leans in and kisses me.
