“I don’t know what’s wrong with this lunatic! He kept saying that he is Xiǎojiě MianMian’s boyfriend and future husband, but we all know that he is not! And he started to get angry when we told him that he was lying, he started to scream that he wanted to see his girlfriend right away and make sure that she is alright!”, the nurse explained.

Suddenly the intruder from outside had managed to open the door when the knob got pulled apart from the door and GuangYao remained with it in his fist.

When Xiao Zhan was about to land a punch into the minacious character’s face, the man started to shout:

MianMian’s sharp screams freaked out not only the doctor, but everyone in the room:
“Don’t let him in, ZhanZhan Ge, help!!!! I don’t want to see him! Oh my god! Get him out of here, out of my life!!!!”

GuangYao, LingLing, Baba and Ba grabbed the stranger and transported him away from the ward door like a trolley, while Xiao Zhan ran to his sister:
“What the!? Calm down, MeiMei! Shhh, shhh, he is gone! I’m here to protect you, nobody will harm you!
But, who in the world is this dude, and why are you afraid of him? Should we call the police?”

“We should have called the police from the start.”, the nurse told the doctor and Xiao Zhan, while checking out the agitated patient’s pulse. 

MianMian grabbed her Ge’s hand and spoke to him, much calmer now:
“No, no need for police. I’m sorry for scaring you all with my crazy screams. I got very mad when hearing his voice!
I know him, he is not a stranger, nor a dangerous individual, it’s just that I don’t want to see or hear him!”

“I must go to work!”, the doctor rolled his eyes, then he left, with the nurse, too,  after telling the crazy family to press the emergency button if  medical or security assistance would be needed. 

The door was slammed to the wall and the intruder barged inside, followed closely by the three men of the family who got tricked into letting him escape.

They were preparing to kick the man’s aSs, but Xiao Zhan stopped them.
He curiously asked them, how could it be possible for four men to not be able to hold one man from entering the ward.

“Do you have any idea what this weirdo did? GuangYao Ge got a phone call from his girlfriend. That’s why he is missing now, because he needed to go to her work place for some reason. Anyways while he was on the phone this man suddenly pretended to vomit, so we led him to the bathroom. “Yes, indeed, what the hell did he do anyways? It’s not like he was the one robbing and almost killing Jie, he saved her for heaven’s sake! Uff, I really liked that guy! Yao Ge, please tell us!”, LingLing spoke while blowing his nose. He was not the only one from the room crying, actually all of them had tears in their eyes, without even understanding what was everything about.

“Okay, let’s do this! NaiNai, everything’s okay?
I hope to be able to replace Yibo and to not make any stupid mistakes. Hmm, I don’t know how to start…”, GuangYao stuttered, overwhelmed by the responsibility of explaining his poor friend’s story, a responsibility he now had to face alone.

A knock on the door interrupted once again the unfolding suspense.

“What now?”, LingLing along with a few others exclaimed in annoyance.

“I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t stop him, not even the hospital security guy couldn’t! He’s outside! I think that we should call the police! Help me to hold the door!”, an agitated nurse barged inside the ward, and started to pull at the door knob to stop from entering whomever he was talking about.

“Who? What the hell?”, Xiao Zhan shouted, jumping to the door, along with the other men of the family.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with this lunatic! He kept saying that he is Xiǎojiě MianMian’s boyfriend and future husband, but we all know that he is not! And he started to get angry when we told him that he was lying, he started to scream that he wanted to see his girlfriend right away and make sure that she is alright!”, the nurse explained.

Suddenly the intruder from outside had managed to open the door when the knob got pulled apart from the door and GuangYao remained with it in his fist.

When Xiao Zhan was about to land a punch into the minacious character’s face, the man started to shout:
“Wait, wait, Xiao Zhan Ge! Don’t hit me, I am Yu Bin! MianMian told you about me! You are my brother in law, I know you from pictures she showed me.”

MianMian’s sharp screams freaked out not only the doctor, but everyone in the room:
“Don’t let him in, ZhanZhan Ge, help!!!! I don’t want to see him! Oh my god! Get him out of here, out of my life!!!!”

GuangYao, LingLing, Baba and Ba grabbed the stranger and transported him away from the ward door like a trolley, while Xiao Zhan ran to his sister:
“What the!? Calm down, MeiMei! Shhh, shhh, he is gone! I’m here to protect you, nobody will harm you!
But, who in the world is this dude, and why are you afraid of him? Should we call the police?”

“We should have called the police from the start.”, the nurse told the doctor and Xiao Zhan, while checking out the agitated patient’s pulse.

MianMian grabbed her Ge’s hand and spoke to him, much calmer now:
“No, no need for police. I’m sorry for scaring you all with my crazy screams. I got very mad when hearing his voice!
I know him, he is not a stranger, nor a dangerous individual, it’s just that I don’t want to see or hear him!”

“I must go to work!”, the doctor rolled his eyes, then he left, with the nurse, too, after telling the crazy family to press the emergency button if medical or security assistance would be needed.

The door was slammed to the wall and the intruder barged inside, followed closely by the three men of the family who got tricked into letting him escape.

They were preparing to kick the man’s aSs, but Xiao Zhan stopped them.
He curiously asked them, how could it be possible for four men to not be able to hold one man from entering the ward.

“Do you have any idea what this  weirdo did? GuangYao Ge got a phone call from his girlfriend. That’s why he is missing now, because he needed to go to her work place for some reason. Anyways while he was on the phone this man suddenly pretended to vomit, so we led him to the bathroom. But when he came out and we tried to grab him to bring him out of the hospital, he shocked us so badly that we froze in the spot…and he ran back to the ward!”, LingLing angrily related.

“What did he do to shock you so badly?”, NaiNai asked.

“I pulled down my pants and underwear in one move, and the shock was not because of what they saw, but because they didn’t expect this. So, I took advantage of their surprise and ran away from them. I learned this trick from a friend who was bullied in junior high. Anyways…”
The man pushed aside the nurse, then placed the huge bouquet of pink tulips onto the patient’s bed:
“Oh my goodness, thank god that you’re alright! Oh, my sweet sweet MianMian, I missed you so, so much! May I give you a hug?”

“No, you may not!
And take these weeds away from me!”, MianMian kicked the bouquet down to the floor.

“These are not weeds, there are pink tulips, your favorite, do you have any idea how difficult it is to find them, now in the middle of winter. By the way Happy New Year my pookie, I missed you so, so much!
I hope you will forgive me after finding out why I disappeared so suddenly!”

“Wait, wait! Who are you? And what do you want from our MianMian? She doesn’t seem too happy to see you.”, Xiao Zhan removed the man from his sister’s proximity.

“I am her boyfriend!”, the man answered.

“No, you’re not!’, a few voices, including MianMian’s voice, replied.

“Yes, I am. “, the man insisted, unexpectedly on the verge of crying, when MianMian placed a pillow on her head, so as to not listen anymore to him.

“He’s lying, obviously, but why?”, Ma wondered.

“Wait, Ma, maybe he’s not the one lying, but Wang Yibo was lying. How should this man know that MeiMei’s favorite flowers are the pink tulips? I could bet that Wang Yibo couldn’t know this information about MianMian.
MeiMei, stop acting like a spoiled brat and tell us the truth, who is this man?”, Xiao Zhan removed the pillow from his sister’s head.

“Alright, he is not lying, this man is Yu Bin, my boyfriend, indeed. My ex boyfriend to be more precise.
Why did I get mad? Because six months ago this bastard proposed to me after we dated for around a year. I said yes, we happily celebrated, we made plans to announce together to our families…and I have never seen him or heard about him again since that day! Imagine that!
What kind of stupid, heartless prank was that?”

“Oh, forget him, he must be an aSshole, maybe it was better that you got rid of him. That way you had the chance to meet your present fiance, God bless him and you, as well.”, Senora Alexandra smiled, pecking the confused MianMian’s cheeks.

But maybe it’s just a language barrier…

“I’d say let him speak from his point of view,
So, what do you have to say to this, young man?
Here, have some water and speak!”, NaiNai commanded, like a true tribe chief.

The man drank the whole glass of water handed to him by NaiNai, before starting his telling:
“I am not supposed to talk about this, but I will take the risk to share with you a little info, only if all of you would swear to keep it to yourself and simply forget about it right the next minute. If not for my own sake, at least for MianMian’s safety.
I vanished out of the blue, without any afterward sign from me, because I was enrolled in the Witness Protection Program, as I accidentally witnessed a criminal act. I could have just shut up and mind my own business, but it would have been not fair towards the poor victim, that’s why I decided to go to the police and show them what I recorded on my phone. I can’t disclose the whole story to you, sorry.
Anyway I was provided with a new identity that it was forbidden to share with anyone, especially with those close to me, also I was moved to live in a completely different county of China.”

“But how come you are allowed now to be here,under your old identity? I hope you’re not threatening MianMian Jie’s safety, with your presence here. Hmm, in the movies I watched, the witness is forced to completely change not only their identity, but they live a completely new life and never come back to their past.”, LingLing voiced out everyone’s doubtful and suspicious thoughts.

“Because I was the type of witness that only required protection until the conclusion of the trial. Yesterday the verdict was officially pronounced, the criminal was put behind bars for the rest of his pathetic life. And I am a free man starting with today, thank god for that!
And no, MianMian is not in any jeopardy, I would have never come back to her, if it would have been a smaller danger for her! Believe me or not, but I love her very much, more than my life! Nobody will be in danger, because of this criminal, not anymore! He was a lone criminal, who acted by himself, he was not a member of any organization, gang or cult, he had no relatives and no friends, who could have been up to some vengeful acts against the witness.”

A week has passed already since MianMian was discharged from the hospital. She was living now in the Jin mansion, very well taken care of and surrounded by the whole family’s love and attention. Except for some not very intense headaches occurring pretty rarely, she was doing great, almost completely recovered.
As for the boyfriend topic, everything has been cleared up, MianMian accepted Yu Bin back into her life, and the family members welcomed him as their new member.

GuangYao had finally managed to explain the whole saga of Wang Yibo’s so-called lie.
They were intelligent people and understood that nothing changed about the old Yibo they knew before finding out this new information.Not only because he was the hero who saved MianMian’s life, but because they simply loved that boy’s character, personality and everything about him. 

“I feel so sorry, imagine how that poor boy is feeling now. Wang Yibo didn’t deserve the cold shoulder we gave him on that last day we saw him, and it’s been more than a week already…YaoYao, did you keep trying to call him? You were supposed to be his trustful friend, you were the only one he trusted.”, NaiNai sighed. 

Xiao Zhan sighed, too, almost in sync with NaiNai:
“Yeah, I feel offended, if not even jealous, that from all of us, he trusted only YaoYao, even though I asked him so many times if he is hiding something from me…I mean, from us. I had this feeling constantly that he hides something. I tried to call him so many times, but he always rejected my call.
I looked for him at his working place, but his colleague said that he took a leave, probably for two weeks, maybe even longer, as he didn’t take it at all last year.”

“I tried to contact him many times, but to no avail. As you all know, I told you that my girlfriend said that Yibo moved away from that location, nobody knows where. He just announced shortly to Cheng Xiao’s father that he will move away right the next day. Wait, I have an idea! I have just remembered a detail that it could be helpful in finding him! Yibo asked if he could pay for that last month’s rent only after the money for the leave would enter the card.”, GuangYao shouted enthusiastically.

Xiao Zhan startled GuangYao when he jumped him and hugged him tightly:
“Yes, YaoYao, this is great! Thank god for your memory revival!
I know that he trusts you the most from us, but please let it be me to try finding him.
I already have a plan in my mind, I will try to find out when it would be the paycheck day for the subway employees, then I will wait for him to show up to his former address for paying the rent.”

“Yes, yes, that’s a good plan! I really loved that guy and I want him back in our lives, if not as our family member, at least as our dear friend.”, someone said. It doesn’t even matter who, because everyone was in assent with the said words.

After Wang Yibo paid the money owed for the rent and thanked Cheng Xiao’s father for everything, he took goodbye from him and from his daughter, but refused to tell them his new address, knowing that Cheng Xiao would tell her boyfriend.

“For now, I’m temporarily staying at a friend’s place. I haven’t decided yet if I’d move out of Beijing or not. My coworker Jie said that her brother, who lives in Shanghai and owns a small store, would hire me if I’d move there.”, Yibo explained.

“Why don’t you answer the call? It might be important, it’s pretty insistent.”, the block manager said.

“I will take it outside. “, Yibo replied after glancing at his phone screen, then took goodbye once again and left.

When he was in the elevator, he whispered to the phone screen that kept showing more new calls from the same insistent caller:
“I’m so sorry my love! I’m sorry that I let GuangYao face the whole mess. I am so sorry that I wasn’t brave enough to go back to you all, for explaining in person that not everything was a lie. My love was real and still is, I didn’t lie about that!
Look at me even now, being too cowardly to answer your call and listen to you calling me a liar, a big fraud, listen to your sweet voice filled with disgust, as I deserve, though!
I love you and miss you so, so much, my heart is in such a big pain, but it’s only my own fault. I should have run away from that very first moment I saw you!
Yet, thinking better, I don’t regret all those happy moments I lived with you, there will be wonderful memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Xiao Zhan gasped at the sight of Yibo exiting the block’s staircase! He was so emotional to see Perrito’s adorable face after so much time and so excited that his plan was actually working, that he forgot what was supposed to do next, hide or directly confront him. 

The big bouquet of flowers from Yibo’s arms convinced Xiao Zhan to stay in the hiding mode, and incognito to follow him. He was curious who could be the receiver of those flowers…or maybe more jealous than curious?
Anyways, he left the car there, as Yibo was walking, and he followed him, carefully hiding behind trees or passers by, to not be spotted.

“Oh, my goodness! It’s a cemetery! The flowers are for his father, not for an eventual lover!”, Xiao Zhan breathed in, overwhelmed with guilt of his unfair suspicions.

He quickly crouched behind a bush when Yibo stopped from walking.
The bush was close enough from the grave where Yibo placed the flower bouquet, for Xiao Zhan to clearly hear what he was saying.

“Hello BaBa, I’m sorry for neglecting you and didn’t come to see you as often as I’d liked to. But you probably know that I talked with you every single day and asked for your advice and for your forgiveness. I love you Baba and miss you so, so much! Please don’t feel like I’d love you less, only because the love from my heart is split in two, half for you and half for…But let me tell you the whole story, from the very beginning. I know that you are the only one to whom I could tell the truth, I mean the WHOLE truth, without being called a liar. And this not because you are no longer alive for being able to do that, but because you’re the only one who loves me back.
Now let me start my telling, I warn you that it’s a pretty long story, but I know that you’re not busy with anything else, and you have time and patience to listen to me. God, I would have needed your wisdom and love right now, so, so much!
Oh, look it started raining, even the snow is crying into rain drops!”, Yibo smiled with a sad smile and wiped his teary eyes.
