One time, The house was silent except for the faint hum of the fridge and the soft ticking of the clock.
Jimin had just returned from a long, tiring exam. He barely touched his food during dinner with Jungkook, though he smiled and nodded along to everything Jungkook said. Jungkook noticed-but he didn’t push. He simply made sure Jimin’s plate was full, his glass of water refilled.
After dinner, they retreated to their room like usual, changed into their comfortable clothes, and got into bed.
But something felt off.
As Jungkook laid on his side, scrolling aimlessly through his phone, he noticed Jimin shifting again.
And again.
And again.
He turned slightly. “Jimin?” he whispered.
“Hm?” came the quiet response.
“You’re moving a lot. Are you okay?”
There was a pause. Then Jimin replied, voice smaller than usual, “Just a headache… it’ll pass.”
Jungkook sat up immediately and turned on the dim bedside lamp. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
Jimin blinked up at him, squinting from the light. “Didn’t want to bother you…”
“You’re not a bother,” Jungkook said gently, brushing Jimin’s hair back. “Come here.”
Jimin hesitated, confused. “Where?”
“Lay your head on my lap.”
Jimin’s eyes widened slightly. “What?”
Jungkook smiled softly. “Just do it.”
Still unsure, Jimin shifted slowly until his head rested carefully on Jungkook’s thigh. Jungkook adjusted the pillow behind his back and began softly massaging Jimin’s temples, using slow, careful circles.
Jimin let out a relieved sigh, his eyes fluttering shut. “That feels nice…”
“I read once that light pressure here helps relieve headaches,” Jungkook murmured, voice low and soothing. “You study too hard.”
“You care too much,” Jimin whispered without thinking.
Jungkook didn’t reply. His hands just slowed, moving even gentler, brushing through Jimin’s soft hair every now and then.
Minutes passed.
Jimin’s breathing evened out.
He had fallen asleep in Jungkook’s lap.
Jungkook looked down at him, a tender expression settling on his face. One hand rested protectively on Jimin’s shoulder while the other still combed through his hair absentmindedly.
He should’ve moved. He should’ve laid down and slept properly.
But he couldn’t.
Not when Jimin looked this peaceful.
So he leaned back on the headboard, turned off the bedside light with one careful hand, and closed his eyes-still sitting up, still holding Jimin-falling asleep with a soft smile on his lips.
Around 4 am, Jimin stirred gently from his sleep, his head rising from a familiar warmth.
It took him a moment to realize he wasn’t lying on a pillow.
He was lying on Jungkook.
His head had been resting in Jungkook’s lap.
He sat up slowly, careful not to wake him.
Jungkook was still in a sitting position, head tilted back against the headboard, lips slightly parted in sleep, arms resting at his sides. He looked uncomfortable… and yet there was a peacefulness in his face.
That’s when it hit Jimin.
Not just adoration. Not just comfort. Love.
He watched Jungkook in silence, heart full. He had never meant to fall in love-but now he could see no other explanation for the way his chest ached just watching the man sleep.
He loved him.
Softly, Jimin whispered, “Why are you like this?”
He gently moved, trying not to disturb him. His fingers barely touched Jungkook’s shoulder as he guided him to lie down properly. Amazingly, Jungkook didn’t wake, simply shifted with Jimin’s lead, letting himself settle into the mattress with a faint sigh.
Jimin reached for the comforter to cover him.
But as he leaned over, tucking the blanket up around Jungkook’s chest-
A sudden pull on his wrist.
“Ah-!” Jimin gasped softly as Jungkook’s hand, still half-asleep, wrapped around his and yanked.
And in the next second-
Jimin was on top of him.
His hands pressed against Jungkook’s chest, eyes wide in shock. Their faces were too close, their breaths mingling in the still air.
Jungkook didn’t open his eyes, still caught in sleep.
But his arms wrapped lightly around Jimin’s back, as if holding onto something precious, something safe.
Jimin’s heart thundered in his chest, cheeks burning bright red.
Carefully, slowly, he eased himself out of Jungkook’s hold, his breath caught as he finally managed to return to his side of the bed.
He laid there on his back, wide-eyed and flushed, staring at the ceiling.
A tiny smile tugged at his lips.
He turned his head, watching Jungkook sleep again-still hugging the blanket like it was Jimin himself.
And this time, Jimin didn’t fight the warmth blooming in his chest.
He turned toward Jungkook and whispered into the dark, voice no louder than a breath:
“I think I really love you.”
