Vendetta stared at the music shop. He was in his super-villain outfit, about to steal something. Yeah, he still got the money from the bank and he could just buy what he wanted, but that wasn’t too villain like, now was it ?
He entered, and as the tiny bell above the door indicated his presence, everyone in the shop stopped and looked at him, with matching shocked expressions. Well… except for one person, Vendetta realized.
There he was, next to the guitars. Blake. He was staring at the villain with hatred.
Vendetta remembered how 3 days ago, Blake bought the drawing of Blaze. So he didn’t really expect acceptance from the human, seeing as he was probably a fan of his enemy. Enjoying the coincidence of meeting him, he stepped closer and closer to the human. He put an arm around his waist -Blake was too tall for the villain to put it around his shoulders- and turned to the other people in the room.
“Beloved citizens, fancy a sit in that one corner of the room ?” he asked mockingly, his cards already floating towards the people. He then turned his head to Blake, placing his palm on his chest. “After you, dear !” gently pushing him towards the group of hostages.
“Vendetta. Go away.” Blake said. The villain was pretty surprised, to say the least. The human sure had a big mouth for someone so vulnerable.
“You’re a good guy, aren’t you… ” Remembering how Blake so kindly complimented his drawings and gave him all these funny feelings, he felt pretty bad it was the last time he was going to see him. Standing on his tiptoes, Vendetta reached to touch Blake’s cheek with his iron mask, in an indirect peck. He patted his other cheek with his gloved hand, then reached behind him to grab a white acoustic guitar. He went to the door, and stopped when his hand touched the handle. He turned his head, looking at Blake.
“Have a nice day. ” He said. He watched Blake’s expression going from confused to blank, then left.

Still in his super-villain outfit, Vendetta sat on the short wall edging the promenade with the sea behind him, holding the white guitar, his legs criss crossed. He saw people gathering around him, yet keeping a big distance, afraid of the well known villain. They were curious yet scared, and were all tensed up. Vendetta watched them with a neutral expression, waiting for the hero to show up. He knew that after that little show in the music shop, Blaze must have gone out searching for him.
Not standing the silence anymore, the super-villain gently caressed the guitar strings as his voice escaped his lips.
[Okay, so now it would be the time to play the song. It would be great if you’d match the melody with what’s going on below ;D ]
His singing changed everyone’s expressions. They stared at him in surprise, as their bodies relaxed. Hearing the super-villain’s voice, they couldn’t believe he was the evil in the town. Yet, they didn’t get any closer.
He continued singing passionately, his gentle singing filling the air, while more people dared to gather around him.
Suddenly, the empty space around him wasn’t occupied only by him. Blaze silently landed about 2 metres away from Vendetta, staring at him in awe. The villain got on his feet, still singing, getting closer to the hero, now addressing him the words.
“You don’t know a thing about me. Not a God damn thing… Not a God damn thing….” He continued singing. Blaze’s eyes were dancing, taking in every inch of Vendetta’s face. As he started singing the chorus, he started pacing around the hero, and the humans took a step back, still afraid to get close.
Blaze was amazed by the situation. He felt shivers go down his spine whenever Vedetta’s voice would touch a rougher note, and butterflies were flying all around his stomach. He didn’t know how to react, the persons around them were long since forgotten and he felt like there was just him and the villain.
As he kept pacing around the hero, Vendetta stared at each person around them. They looked back at him, some of them having small smiles on their faces, some of them wrapping their arms around their loved ones in a protective gesture and others were glaring at him with hatred. He smiled at that.
He went back, in front of the hero, and stared at him while singing. Blaze’s orange eyes were staring in Vendetta’s light green ones, as his mind lost any trace of thought. He forgot the reason he was there, he forgot that the one singing was his enemy, he forgot that he was supposed to hate him… He just lived the moment, caught in the villain’s trance. Hearing the villain’s voice, the hero couldn’t stop but wonder how his lips looked like behind that iron mask. How his lips felt like… He was so lost he didn’t even flinch to the weird thought that just went trough his mind… His heart was beating fast, and he felt warmer than he ever felt before, and his element being fire, that meant something.
Vendetta wasn’t any better. Seeing the expression on Blaze’s face, he felt kinda sad. His enemy was looking at him with such amazement it made him blush behind his mask, and he regretted he wouldn’t get the chance to see that expression ever again.
As Vendetta started singing the chorus the second time, he started walking backwards, still facing the hero, to the original spot he was sitting when he started the song. With his eyes fixed on Blaze’s, he got up on the small wall fence.
The hero quickly recovered from the trance, and was now tensed up at the way the villain was up there, not a thing keeping him protected from the risk of falling into the sea. He was shocked and hoped to God the villain was not planning to do what he thought he was. But judging by the look on Vendetta’s face, he probably was.
“In this darkness I see colors. This dimension ain’t big enough for you and I. You got me waiting, but your mind is made up.Just let it go and show me what you’re made of. ” he sang, addressing the words to the hero. As he repeated the lyrics, he started pacing on the wall on the rhythm of the guitar, almost threateningly. Blaze took a step forward, but at the look Vendetta gave him, he stopped.
Vendetta started singing the last chorus, and as he did so he stopped pacing, his face turning sad yet determined. Blaze couldn’t believe it. He felt his face getting pale, as he felt the song getting closer to the end. He realized what was going on… Vendetta singing, the sea behind him, the entire show going on…. He desperately searched for a way to take control of the situation, but it was in vain. Everything was turned against him and there was nothing he could do to stop the villain from doing what he was about to do.
As the super-villain caressed the guitar strings for the last time, he leaned backwards, guitar still in hand, wet eyes still looking at Blaze’s.
Blaze run as fast as he managed, but the villain was already falling. As the hero got at the wall, he grabbed the edge and looked down, seeing Vendetta for the last time. As the water embraced Venddetta, Blaze gripped the edge and was about to jump after him, but he knew it would kill him. Water was his weakness, and if he went after the super-villain, it would slowly tear his skin and flesh away.
He kept staring at the water. Behind him, people were shocked, even sad, while some of them happily cheered in relief. He gripped the edge of the small wall even harder, cracks making their way on the surface. He felt so empty, knowing that the super-villain… his super-villain was officially gone.
He turned around. There was a huge crowd gathered around him, yet the area where Vendetta was pacing before was still empty, therefore he was being the centre of attention. Which was exactly what he didn’t want, seeing as his face held a ruined expression, drowned in sadness. People stared at him confused and some oblivious ones congratulated him. He didn’t even bother to fly, he just walked away like a zombie in a fancy outfit, each step almost hurting him, as he was forcing himself not to jump to his death to attempt saving the super-villain.

Four days later, in his human appearance, Blaze was walking, broken away from his surroundings. He was walking where ever his feet leaded him, humming the song Vendetta sang. It was stuck in his head ever since the last note left the villain’s lips. He looked like a crazy person, but, again, he was oblivious to everything around him. He almost got hit by a few cars on the way, yet he kept humming, staring into the ground. He still felt the weird tingling he felt when the villain pecked him trough his mask, on the cheek, while he was in the music shop, Vendetta thinking Blaze was a random human.
“Have a nice day. ” he said back then.
Blaze found himself in front of the gallery he went to about a week ago. He remembered himself saying the same thing to Victor, before leaving with the drawing he bought. He was about to go in, wondering how Victor was, when he saw the sign on the door.
CLOSED
He frowned. Why would the gallery be closed at 7 pm ? He looked to his right, and saw two teen girls staring trough the window.
“It’s still closed… I wonder what’s going on ? I hope Victor is fine… ” the brunette one said to her blond friend.
“Still closed ? ” Blaze found himself saying.
The girls looked at him and blushed, taking in his looks. The blond smiled and took a step towards him.
“Yes. We have a project for next week, and we came here about three days ago wanting to buy stuff, but it was closed, and it’s been like this ever since.” she said, her smile turning sad. “We want to think Victor went to a trip or something, but he would have placed a sign saying so, and we’re kinda worried.”
Blaze frowned. Victor seemed like such a good guy… He really hoped he was fine.
“Hm… ” With one last glance at the gallery, he thanked the girl for letting him know, then turned around and continued walking.
He felt officially lonely.

The lamp hit the floor, the loud sound of it breaking filling the room. The lamp not being enough to hold Blaze’s anger, the hero shoved everything else off the desktop as well, leaving a mess all over the floor. He considered throwing the desktop out the window, but that would be troublesome, seeing as the whole wall was the actual window, and it was Autumn outside. Instead, he let a loud yell of frustration escape his throat, his lungs aching after the outburst. The hero couldn’t remember the last time he was like this. He was always the charming, calm, clever guy, just being his usual laid back self. But at the moment, it was hard to tell.
After staying at home, doing basically nothing seeing as the town was sound and safe, he realized why Vendetta killed himself. He realized he did that just so the hero would end up forgotten by the town. But the plan wasn’t the reason he was angry. The action of killing himself just to do that was what angered the hero. And the incapability of doing anything about it was making Blaze feel like he was going to explode any time.
As his lungs gave up, he fell on his knees, worn out.
He missed his super-villain.
