Vendetta silently closed the door after him, trying his best to muffle the click which soon made its way trough the silence almost unheard. Almost.

“Where have you been last night? ” he heard Vladimir ask monotonously behind him.

He froze in his position for a while, then, after pulling himself together, turned around to face the other man. He was leaning on the kitchen table, his arms crossed, a questioning look on his face.

“Well, you see, I missed my bus… ” he explained, nervously playing with his fingers, avoiding eye contact.

“That does not answer my question, now does it? ” Vlad replied casually, his tone almost suspicious as he made his way to Vendetta, his steps slow and daring.

Vendetta stepped further back into the door, wishing it could just swallow him, but no such luck. The only thing he managed to accomplish was to hit the wooden surface, now pinned between it and the other man, who was too close for his liking.

“Nope, it does not….” he said, trying to buy some time. He raised his fingers to the collar of Vlad’s shirt, fumbling with it. “Is this new? It fits you nicely…” he said sheepishly.

“It’s yours.” the other man deadpanned. After actually focusing on the shirt, the villain realized that it was, indeed, his.

“Oh… it…still fits you…” he laughed, patting his chest.

“Vendetta, I wasn’t going to make a big deal out of this but something tells me I have reasons to. Now, where have you been? ” Vladimir asked again, a deep frown plastered on his face.

“It’s no big deal, I just… went at Blaze’s…” the villain shrugged, trying to sound indifferent, but his voice  came out shaky at the end of the sentence. After gulping the lump formed in his throat, he looked up and froze, the hand on the other man’s chest trembling visibly.

Vladimir’s pitch black eyes embraced anger and hatred, making waves of coldness curl around Vendetta’s whole body, who violently flinched the moment a grip of steel caught his neck, raising him on his toes.

“Are you fucking kidding me.” Vlad growled in his face, daring him to answer.

“What’s your problem? ” Vendetta managed to ask, sincerely confused. “You already knew we had a thing together! ” he continued, becoming angry himself.

Vladimir roughly shoved him back against the door, then pulled at his own hair in despair. After a few deep breaths he managed to compose himself enough to speak.

“Are you fucking retarded? ” he asked bitterly. “I knew you have a thing together, you idiot, but we just teamed up! Ever since we did it was obvious that you weren’t supposed to take things further than just distracting! Do you think he’ll take you seriously in a battle when you moaned under him like the fucking whore you are?! ” he yelled as loud as his lungs managed right in the other man’s face, watching as his expression turned blank. Not even hesitating, Vladimir sent the back of his palm in a slap over the villain’s cheek, the hit filled with buckets of fury.

Vendetta’s head snapped violently and his eyes widened, as he slowly felt the sharp pain make its way on his cheek. He let out a short breath, not even bothering to hold back the tears which soon escaped. He reached shaky fingers to the injured area, his cold hand comforting the hot, red skin.

“You’re a fucking pathetic attempt of a villain. ” Vladimir finished, this time softer as he watched the man in front of him sob, each one of the pained sounds making his guts twist in guilt.

Vendetta turned his head to watch the man walk away. Reaching the couch, Vlad took his jacket, then went at the king sized bed under which he took the sack of money from, grabbing a bundle of them. Then, he made his way back to the door, where Vendetta was still frozen. He roughly pushed him out of the way, then exited the apartment, slamming the door after him.

The moment he did, Vendetta wiped his eyes, sniffled and patted his shirt, then took a deep breath. He couldn’t believe he acted like that. But it hurt him, because even though he knew he wasn’t the most splendid villain around, it really hurt to hear it coming from a respectable one.

Sighing, he made his way to the kind sized bed, and not bothering to shoo the cat, he threw himself on the mattress, next to it, letting his eye lids meet each other. He felt something soft tickle his arm, and without opening his eyes, he just grabbed the cat and hugged it to his chest, listening to its loud, comforting purr.

Blaze walked along the chocolate rayon of the shop, ignoring the looks people aimed at the wide smile plastered on his face. He was beyond happy after the night he had, and every time mental images from it made their way in his mind he could feel his whole body shiver.

Eyeing a fancy looking box of chocolate, he came to a stop, wondering if the villain would like it. It was incarnadine, with a black, big, beautiful bow elegantly sitting on it. It said “Thorntons” in simple, yet classy looking letters. Nodding in approval, he reached a hand to take the box, but before he could process, another hand made its way on the box, his own landing on it instead. He moved his eyes, trailing up the arm, until he met a dubious figure.

Whoever he was had the hood of their jacket pulled up, hiding their hair which, judging by the few strings which escaped, was black, and he was wearing dark, aviator sunglasses- despite the cold, sunless season. The sight made Blaze frown in confusion, distracting him from their hands which were still in contact.

Vladimir, the said man, was also oblivious to their connection, too busy analysing the man in front of him. He was as tall as he was, his eyes were hazel, but he could see a trace of orange hidden behind the dark colour they held. The shape of his strong jaw was familiar to Vlad for some reason, but he couldn’t figure out why. Looking down at their hands, a frown made its way on his face as he focused on the warmness emanating from the stranger. His body temperature was suspiciously raised, he could feel his own hand sweating under it.

Blaze was the first one to break the contact between them, coughing awkwardly.

“Sorry. I was going to buy that… But if you want, there’s a few more here.” he said politely, pointing to some chocolate boxes identical to that one, except for the bows which were different bright colours.

Vladimir’s eyes widened as he took a step back, once again looking at the man in front of him. Taking in his shapes, he couldn’t believe he didn’t realize it faster! The moment the man started speaking, Vlad easily recognized the voice of the hero, and now that he compared his and the hero’s features, it was more than obvious he was Blaze.

His mouth took a 180 degrees turn, changing from agape to a mischievous smirk in a matter of seconds.

“Sorry, but I bet Vendetta would appreciate the black bow rather than a pink one.”

Blaze took in a sharp breath, instantly recognizing the rude, ironic, teasing tone of the newcomer. What angered him the most wasn’t the idea of meeting him in a public place like that, neither was the fact that they held hands just a minute ago. What made him violently grab the other man’s throat and slam him on the dozens of chocolate boxes was the idea of him buying chocolate for Vendetta. His Vendetta.

“Whoa, someone’s eager. Don’t take me here, won’t you bring me to your place? Don’t worry, I won’t mind the mess left after last night. ” Vladimir laughed bitterly, winking. “Vendetta told me all about it. But he didn’t seemed impressed by your tiny wiener. ” he continued, adding a fake pout to it.

Blaze didn’t hesitate in punching him as hard as he managed, and considering his superhuman strength was saying something about just powerful the hit was. He grinned the moment he heard Vlad groan in pain under him.

“Harder! ” Vladimir yelled, faking a loud moan, then grabbed the hero by his shoulders and pulled him onto him, locking his arms around his neck and parting his legs widely, not the least disturbed by the sharp edges of the boxes under him.

Blaze couldn’t help but start laughing uncontrollably despite the situation, finding the villain’s actions utterly amusing. He placed his hands on Vladimir’s hips in order to push himself away, but the moment he did Vlad once again started moaning, arching his back and shaking in exaggerated shivers. The action made him laugh even harder, his voice muffled by the villain’s shoulder.

“What you’re doing is inappropriate and I must as you two to leave, after paying the ruined products.” they heard a feminine voice say, and both turned their heads to see a female in a uniform, wearing the shop’s logo on her chest. Behind her, people were staring and a guy had a camera pointed at them.

“Dude, that guy actually brought a camera with him at a freaking shop! What the hell was he planning, to take photos of old ladies bending down to reach for the canned beans?” the villain asked loudly, then started laughing uncontrollably with the hero, watching as the citizen blushed under the attention of everyone around them.

Blaze felt someone tap his shoulder and turned his head, still chuckling, and eyed a tall, muscular guy, wearing a uniform similar to the woman’s. He didn’t even have time to get up, because the back of his shirt was grabbed by the man, who roughly pulled him away from the villain, not loosening the grip after steadying him on his feet.

“Don’t worry dude, we’re up for threesomes! ” Vladimir cockily said, sitting up. The man didn’t say anything, he just reached his free hand to grab him by the arm, then dragged the two men towards the cashier.

Once there, he shoved them violently, then crossed his arms waiting for the woman to come with the ruined chocolate boxes, so they would pay for the ruined products. There turned out to be 6 of them.

“Could you also bring the one with the black bow?” Blaze sheepishly asked, and the lady sighed, walking away.

     “You’re paying.” Vladimir deadpanned.

“If I recall correctly, I was the one with the hormones in check. ” the hero replied casually.

“Right, well, -if I recall correctly-” Vlad started, mocking the hero’s voice “I was the one with my temperament in check. You slammed me on those, like the freaking primitive you are.”

Blaze sighed and took out his wallet, handing the cashier the required amount of money. Then he just grabbed the one chocolate box with the black bow and walked towards the exit. As he got out, he heard steps behind him, but he chose to ignore them, instead eyeing the box to make sure it wasn’t damaged. But, in a matter of seconds, the object of his attention disappeared from his grasp. Sighing, he turned towards the villain, who was hugging the box to his chest, a deep, playful scowl on his face.

“Cut the shit, I payed for it.” the hero growled.

“Well, I am a villain after all, aren’t I? ” Vlad replied, then slowly started stepping backwards, holding the product behind his back.

Blaze walked up to him and tried reaching behind his back, but the villain spun around quickly, a grin plastered on his face. The hero sighed, his hot breath erupting in steam after making contact with the cold air of the winter evening. After running a hand trough his hair, he raised his head, looking at the villain who was still standing there with that mischievous look on his face.

“Please?” he tried, being the last thing he could think of. Much to his surprise, Vladimir threw the box at him, then turned around and started walking away.

“It wasn’t that hard, now was it?” he asked, to which the hero laughed, then ran after him, catching up, knowing their destination was the same.

     Vendetta’s apartment.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The walk was short and filled with sarcasm, ironic retorts and rude, dirty jokes. Blaze would have never thought he’d end up actually conversing with the villain, but then again, he got used to the idea of things not going as they’re supposed to.

He watched with jealousy as Vladimir got the key for the apartment out of his pocket, then unlocked the door, not before turning his head to give the hero a teasing smirk. Blaze just shook his head and scoffed, rolling his eyes.

They got inside and, not seeing Vendetta in the kitchen area nor in the living room one, they both went towards the king sized bed, next to which they both froze at the sight.

There he was, curled up in the middle of the bed, with the sleeping cat pressed to his chest, both of them drowned in a deep, peaceful sleep, their breaths matching. Vladimir stared in awe, assisting the only moment he ever saw the villain actually getting along with the cat. It was a rare sight, and, for some unexplainable reason, it made his heart melt and pour down between his ribs.

He gulped then moved his gaze, wanting to escape the weird, unfamiliar feeling, focusing his attention on the hero instead. Blaze slowly walked towards the bed and then, after a few seconds of just watching the man in front of him, he reached for the blanket, then dragged it up Vendetta’s slender body, covering him. Vlad gasped, and before he could help himself, spoke.

“You’ll choke Jack!” he whisper-yelled, then quickly covered his mouth as the once sleeping villain flinched, his heavy eyelids parting, then quickly blinking as he tried to focus.

The moment Vendetta managed to get rid of the blurriness, he gasped and sat up, backing off a bit at the unexpected sight. The hero stared back at him, a sheepish grin on his face.

“Hi? Sorry I woke you up… Well, Vladimir did, but… yeah.” he spoke, holding the sweets behind his back.

After hearing Vladimir’s name, he gulped, looking at the other villain who was avoiding eye contact. Then, his eyes danced between the two men, trying to make out an explanation as to why they weren’t at each other’s throats. He was brought out of his thoughts the moment he heard Blaze clear his throat, and looked at him, taking in a sharp breath as he saw the fancy looking chocolate box in his hands.

“Uh… This is for you, from….” the hero started, then looked back at Vlad who was staring at him confused, not knowing the reason for his hesitation. “… from us….” he continued, much to Vendetta’s shock.

The villain looked at Vlad, who wore a matching shocked expression, but the moment they made eye contact he just nodded, giving him a small, sincere smile.

“Why …? ” Vendetta asked, dumbfounded.

“Well…from me because… you know… I’m sorry.” his roommate murmured shrugging, clearly not comfortable with the word. Vendetta’s chest flattened, every trace of air leaving his lungs at the sincere apology, and he felt his cheeks redden behind the big grin.

Vlad gulped at the sight, and looked at Blaze. He saw him fumbling with the black bow, obviously searching for words, and the villain knew they would want some privacy since he was probably going to confess or something cheesy like that. Clearing his throat, he continued.

“Anyway, I am going to stop being a fag now and go buy some cat food, since someone got me kicked out of the shop before I had the chance to. ” then, he chuckled at the frown Blaze aimed towards him.

He put his aviator sunglasses back on, then took the cat in his arms and left the apartment without another word.

“Do I want to know what he was talking about? ” Vendetta asked dubiously, to which the hero shook his head violently, eyes widened. “All right, then… So, about that chocolate.” he continued, a teasing smirk on his face as he straightened his back, sitting expectantly.

Blaze sighed in relief, then cleared his throat and licked his lips. His mouth opened numerous times, but no words managed to escape whenever he’d meet the villain’s gaze. He lowered his head, hair blocking his view on the villain, action which seemed to have helped him considerably.

“I love you…” he managed a whisper. It was soft and quiet, barely audible.

“What was that? ” Vendetta teased, a sheepish grin on his face.

“I love you.” Blaze repeated loud and confident, after having raised his head proudly.

He felt arms pull him by the shoulders, and in a matter of seconds he was on top of the villain, kissing him like there was no tomorrow.

“I love you” he repeated over and over again, nibbling at Vendetta’s lower lip.

     “I love you too”.
