“Did you see anything happening to Hannah Baker that worried you?” A pale man with glasses asked me, Chad sat in a room, with his back against the window that showed the beautiful city, feeling the need to just look back and stare but a camera was looking straight at Chad along with 5 other people, two of them very recognisable.

Olivia and Andy Baker. Chad was being interviewed due to the suicide of Hannah Baker, as people still want information on what happened to her, deciding to ask the students themselves.

Chad shook his head, lying considering Chad didn’t know what to do, everything just happened so fast, he was in his normal lesson until he was pulled out of it. He wasn’t the only one. Including Justin Foley, Marcus Cole, Jessica Davies and Alex Standall.

Curiously, all of them were part of the tapes, that worried Chad, had they found out?

“You can tell us anything. Don’t be afraid.” A woman with blonde hair, looking to be in her late 30s spoke.

Chad felt his heart sank, as the image of Hannah’s photo on his phone appeared in his mind, remembering that she was exposed to the whole school and how her face expression looked like in that day in class.

“I remember – one day, I got a text message with a picture – of Hannah, showing – her on a park, the photo was very destructive for Hannah’s reputation, I remember that she was so – much different after that day.” Chad said, not making eye contact with the people in the room.

“Do you believe that is one of the main reasons that Hannah killed herself?” The man with glasses spoke again.

Chad shook his head. “Not really, but it started it. After that everything just went downhill for Hannah.”

“We were told about some tapes, do you know anything about that?” the same man spoke, this time looking at Chad in a more suspicious type of way.

Chad nodded. “Yeah – I’m part of those tapes.” Chad said, not caring about anyone’s lives anymore, not caring about who is coming out of this alive or what’s going to happen to him. But he knew his parents needed to know the truth.

“Why are you part of the tapes, if you don’t mind asking.” The woman with blonde hair said in a more caring voice.

“I insulted Hannah, I was friends with her for some time, we studied together, but then – some of my ‘friends’ threatened me.” Chad said. “They told me to leave her or they would tell everyone about the lies that had been spreaded. I later found out that she never tweeted any false information about us. I could’ve been her friend and she would’ve still been here but I decided to be an idiot and believe everything I see like I always do.” Chad said, tears feeling the need to fall free.

Chad looked to the side, seeing part of the beautiful view. Remembering about the hill where him and Tony were on the previous day.

Chad cleared the tears from his face and looked up.

“Thank you.” The man spoke as he clicked on one of the buttons of the camera in front of me, one of the lights turning off.

Chad stood up and walked out of the room keeping his head down in embarrassment. ‘Did I just do that?’ A part of Chad felt proud of himself, but then he wondered what would happen next.

Chad sat in Monet’s waiting for his best friend – Justin Foley who had earlier desperately called the boy asking for them for meet up at the coffee place so that they could have a ‘chat’. A chat that Chad knew very well about.

The warm smell of coffee hit Chad’s nostrils as he took another sip of his cappuccino. Sitting in a table next to the window, appreciating the yellow sun hitting Chad’s skin.

The ringing sounds alarms the whole shop as Chad looks up to see Justin step inside the coffee shop, seeing Chad straight away, looking down in an embarrassed type way. He walked towards the boy with freckles, mumbling an ‘hello’ loud enough for the boy to hear.

“Hey, man.” Chad said while Justin sat down in a chair in the squared table next to the window.

“How have you been?” Chad asked.

“Good, I guess.” The other boy lied before a familiar girl walked up to the table, the same girl that had served Chad his cappuccino.

“Hey, want anything?” Skye asked, chewing what seemed to be gum, smiling at me slightly as I answered with a similar smile.

“Uh – no thanks.” Justin said before the girl walked away again.

“Did you go to that – interview thing?” Justin asked, as someone let a glass drop in the background, getting the attention of both boys before noticing that it was just an accident from some guy that let his coffee fall, causing a huge mess.

“Yes, I did.” Chad let out with a sigh. “Did you?”

Justin nodded, placing both hands in top of the table while fiddling with his bracelet, which Chad remembered from when Justin had come to him all happy telling him that Jessica had given that bracelet to him on his birthday.

“So, did you tell them about -” Justin asked, finally looking up to meet Chad’s eyes.

Chad nodded. “I did.” Chad said, while Justin’s expression changed, however the boy wasn’t angry since part of him was sure that Chad would be one of the first ones to tell the truth. “I couldn’t keep this secret, not anymore. Her parents were in the same room us, they deserve to know the truth – they deserve to know why.” Chad said while Justin slightly nodded as his eyes met the bracelet once again.

“Did you mention any names?” Justin asked in a worrying tone, however not in a worrying tone as he used to have. Chad felt like a part of Justin’s emotions had died. He looked dead in some way.

“No, I didn’t. Why?” Chad asked with a slight raise in a tone of voice. ‘Why does he only care about whether the people who made this girl kill herself are safe and not justice?’

“Why are you acting so angry with me? I thought we were cool, man.” Justin said, finally looking up, looking like a sick puppy, his skin was pale, his eyes looked red as if they had been crying, with huge bags under his eyes. He looked to be in a bad state.

“You thought we were cool?” Chad asked. “Just because I let you stay the night because you were in a bad state, doesn’t mean we are cool. You hurt me Justin, that night that I opened up to you, I thought it would bring us even more closer, if anything. I let you stay the night because I am your best friend, and best friends don’t leave friends when their down.” Chad said, this time he was the one that looked down.

“I – I told you to keep that a secret because -” Justin said, being interrupted by Chad.

“I don’t need an explanation, Justin. It’s your opinion I get it, you don’t want a friend ‘that way’.” Chad said tears forming in his eyes, moving his eyes way not wanting to show any kind of weakness, that being hard since the sun hit his eyes making the blue stand out along with the forming tears.

“Yes, you do!” Justin said, saying that louder then he thought. “I only told you not to tell anyone, not because that night you changed in my eyes, God no. You know how our friends are, Bryce. You know how judgemental people are in that school. I don’t want what happened to Hannah to happen to you.” Justin said, slightly teary eyed.

“What about when you faked a tweet, lying to me that Hannah had said all that bullshit about me, about something that happened to us, which never happened.” Chad asked in a more soothing voice, wanting to get everything out of the way.

“I fucked up, I fucked up a million times in this life but please don’t throw your back on me.” Justin said, this time not caring about who was listening and what they were thinking, the boy kept begging, this time tears flooding down both boys’ face.

“I would never throw my back on you. I probably should but i couldn’t.” Chad said, wiping away the tears, still hearing some muffled crying from the other boy who was looking down not showing away his weaknesses.

“Justin, look at me, man.” Chad said, grabbing his best friends’ attention. “You can change your life, it’s not too late.” Chad said with a supporting smile before Chad quickly replying. “I forgive you.” Chad said before the boys quickly jumped to a hug, giving the tightest hug.

Chad didn’t want to take anything for granted like other people did, things such as the beauty of this world, the people, friendship and love. He wanted to learn to forgive and this was this moment.

Both boys laughed into the hug, glad that they are back together like always.

MY HEART IS WARM AF. I had to get their friendship back to life, it was painful to make Justin in pain since he was already in pain because of Jessica but I’M SO HAPPY THEIR FRIENDS AGAIN AND THIS SHIZ IS OUT OF THE WAY! YAY. The finale of this book is coming soon ;c

Keep safe you beautiful readers, thank you for everything! Love you!
