Throughout the whole of Saturday, Chad’s skin tingled as he waited anxiously that the day passed, he didn’t know what was happening but he felt good around Tony, he felt like he mattered, something that Justin used to do.
But at the same time, he kept texting Tony throughout the whole day, getting to know each other even more making Chad’s parents happy that Chad was back from his depressive state and he even became more interactive with his parents.
Today was Sunday, the day Chad was going to lunch with Tony at 13:00 and Chad was in front of his wardrobe debating wether he should wear casual or normal clothes.
“Is it supposed to be casual? Should I ask?” Chad thought out loud. “Nah, he’s going to think I’m giving too much thought into it.” Chad started to pace around the room. “It’s obviously not a date.” Chad let out in a lower voice.
‘fuck it, I’m going with normal wear, hopefully he doesn’t wear casual, why would he?’ Chad thought while picking out normal clothes.
After he was finally finished he walked out with everything that was necessary including money and phone. He walked towards the living room where his parents were currently sitting watching Big Brother.
“Guys, I’m going.” Chad said grabbing his parents attention who were cosy in the sofa, arms around each other, looking like couple goals.
“Oh – okay sweetie, have fun.” His mother spoke looking up and smiling at him.
“Stay safe kiddo.” His dad spoke in a more serious note as Chad nodded at both of them before shouting an ‘I love you’ and scaring his mom as he always does but receive an ‘I love you’ back.
Chad finally arrived at the dinner place and saw that Tony was already sitting down in a table for two, Chad walked up to him finally grabbing his attention as Tony looked up from his phone.
Letting out a sigh, noticing that Tony brought a normal day wear. That would’ve been awkward.
“Good afternoon.” Chad said before placing his phone on the table and taking a seat while Tony smiled at him, putting his book down.
Chad looked at the book and quickly fell serious. “Nuh – uh don’t tell me we’re going to do this English thing?” Chad asked making Tony chuckle while shaking his head.
“Good.” Chad said joining him on the chuckling before a waiter walked to their table and asked if they were able to eat.
“Yeah, uhm I would like Spaghetti Bolognese, please.” Chad asked politely as the waiter noted it down on his small piece of paper.
“You, sir?” The waiter asked politely towards Tony.
“I’d like chicken, salad and rice please.” Tony said and Chad looked at Tony and mouthed ‘are you serious?’ making the other boy look down and try to stop laughing imagining what is going to leave Chad’s mouth.
The waiter was out of view after they also added what they wanted to drink.
“Chicken, Salad and rice? You’re just the basic today’s boy aren’t you?” Chad asked.
“Actually I think I’m very original, thank you very much.” Tony asked with a smirk as Chad let out a smiley sigh.
“I’ve been thinking and I want you to come with me to my favourite place in the planet.” Tony said grabbing Chad’s attention.
“Is it?” Chad asked, Tony answering with a nod. “Why?” Chad asked.
“Because if you actually want to know me and pass into the friend zone then you need to know this about me.” Tony said causing a turbulence on the other boy’s mind.
‘Did he just friend-zone me? We’re not even friends, yet! Are we?’ Chad thought.
“Earth to Chad.” Tony said jokingly noticing Chad’s quickly spacing out.
“Sure.” Chad smiled, referring to the previous invite.
Chad and Tony finally finished lunch, both boys forgetting about their life problems and putting their minds into this new born friendship that just bloomed out of nowhere.
Both boys were now on the car and Chad could notice that they were going up a hill but he didn’t know where they were going exactly.
“You know, it just came to my mind how you could be kidnapping me right now.” Chad said making Tony laugh while driving, Chad sticking his hand out while the fresh wind hit his skin.
“Why would I want to do that? You’re probably not worth much anyways.” Tony said as Chad’s mouth went down to the floor.
“How do you know I’m not worth much. You probably don’t know that I’m related to – famous people.” Chad said.
“Wow – thanks for giving me something to think about. I’ll reconsider.” Tony said as they finally reached Tony’s favourite place.
It was a beautiful place where you could see the whole town from here, making the whole place so beautiful. Chad began to notice how it could be Tony’s favourite place, it had a rock and the view was amazing and breathtaking.
“So?” Tony asked as both of them walked away from the car and walked towards the big rock.
“Wow.” Chad let out not taking his eyes away from the view. “It’s – beautiful.” Chad nodded.
Tony smiled and nodded along as both boys sat down in the rock and just sat silent for a bit admiring the beauty of this town, something that Chad had never realised before but wished he had.
“I come here everytime I have things to think about, when I have problems, it gives me time to think and at the same time I get to look at this beauty.” Tony spoke not removing his eyes from the beautiful sight. “Its a shame not a lot of people come here.”
“People take the world for granted. Way too much.” Chad spoke as Tony let out a sigh along with a nod, feeling good that finally someone understood him.
Chad received a notification, pulling his phone from his pocket and looking at the message.
Justin:
Hey, where are you?
Chad pushed the phone back to his pocket without replying, not allowing the bad energy back into his mind since the beautiful thoughts were finally coming in.
“So you have a lot of problems, I’m guessing?” Chad asked finally looking at Tony.
“Don’t we all? I mean especially after the Hannah thing. It feels like I’ll never be the same again.” Tony spoke, Chad remembers seeing Tony and Hannah speaking once or twice in the school so he assumed they were close.
Chad put his hand in Tony’s shoulder for comfort.
“I’m sorry.” Chad whispered.
“Sorry for what?” Tony asked making Chad look back at the view as the wind hit the rock harder then before.
“I was in the tapes.” Chad said this time looking down, ashamed.
“It was a mistake, not everyone that were in the tapes actually meant it.” Tony spoke hoping that those words were helping Chad in some way.
“Did Hannah lie, because people have been telling me she was.” Chad asked, a part of him hoping that she was lying.
Tony shook his head as they finally made eye contact.
Chad’s heart shattered as everything that he heard in the tapes became a reality. Justin actually allowed Bryce to rape Jessica? Justin was the reason Hannah’s pictures were published?
But worst of all for Chad is that he realised he had been manipulated yet again.
“Do you mind if I maybe use this place sometime?” Chad asked, Tony nodding allowing the other boy to come whenever he wants.
“Of course, this place is a public place after all.” Tony said. “But why do you also have a lot of problems in your life?” Tony asked.
Chad looked down, feeling the need to take everything out but when he opened his mouth to tell everything he wanted to let out, nothing came out and both boys were silent. Tony respecting the other boy as they went back to admiring the perfect view in peace.
“You have no idea.”
