“HE’S MARRIED!” Tan paces back and forth in his room like a lunatic, he doesn’t know what to do with this information, who does he tell? Can’t text his friends, or talk to his useless parents, or Harris himself.
Tan has searched the deep web for Harris and all he’s found were articles on his work and a web page about his lawyering, besides being a lawyer it’s like Harris Wheeler doesn’t exist.
“How was school?” Scott asks as they eat at the table
“Stressful I didn’t have my camera today to take pictures for the yearbook”
“You’re taking pictures for the yearbook?” Sheila looks over at him
Dropping his fork Tan stares back and forth between them “I have been the head of the yearbook committee all year, Erica and I took all the pictures in it. Why did you guys buy me a camera if you didn’t know what I needed it for?” Realizing his parents aren’t going to say anything due to the fact that they’re eating and not even looking at him he asks “can I go to my room? Or do you guys need me to watch you eat?”
“Go” his mom waves him off.
Laying in bed Tan hears his parents fight themselves to sleep and we all know there’s no sleeping for him. It’s 2am and Tan flips back and forth in bed trying to get Harris out of his head, but it’s driving him crazy.
Getting out of bed woken up by his doorbell Harris walks to the door wiping the sleep from his face. not expecting anyone else at his door at almost 4 in the morning Harris opens the door to Tan “Tan-“
“I know it’s like 4am and I know showing up here isn’t very adult of me but I don’t care. I’ve been having a shit week which I thought couldn’t get any worse, but I think finding out that you’re married probably put the icing on the cake.” Harris’s shocked face answered every question Tan came to ask, which was really just one question that spiraled into so many other questions. “It’s true, isn’t it? You’re married”
“Please come inside” Harris steps aside
Walking in Tan can already feel himself getting mad again “of course you’re married! Why wouldn’t you be? Because what we have going on isn’t a mess already… Wait- I’m a homewrecker, aren’t I? You made me a homewrecker!”
“No I did not-” Harris tries to cut in but Tan holds out a hand stopping him from talking.
“I’m not done” Tan rants on “it makes so much sense why I couldn’t find anything about you online it’s like you’re a ghost, and I thought maybe he’s just a private guy. Some people like it better off the grid, or maybe he’s trying to hide something. Oh but now it all makes sense! You’re married! I’m such a fucking idiot because I haven’t been able to get anything done. all I ever think about is does he miss me? Does he think about me? And then my dumb mother tells me you’re married literally as soon as we walked away from you yesterday. If what happened between us was just sex then why did you make me feel so special?” He finally stops looking at Harris with tears filling his eyes.
“Are you finished?” Harris asks out of breath Tan “come here I’ll get you some water.” They walk to the kitchen and Harris gets a glass pouring some water in it and placing it on the counter between them. Tan picks it up “I’m not married at least not anymore, so no I didn’t make you a home wrecker. It was never about sex with us Tan and I made you feel special because that’s what you are to me.” Tan calms down as Harris stands in front of him but they’re separated by the island “if you wanted to know anything about me you could’ve just asked.”
“Why is there nothing about you online, no Facebook or even a freaking linked-in page?”
Harris smiles “I value my privacy Tan and the internet does not allow that”
After he drinks the water Tan puts the glass down, “why did you get a divorce?”
“We wanted different things”
“Are you gay or straight?”
“Does it matter?”
“You were married Harry and I don’t even know if it was a man or woman, so I’ll just assume man.”
“It was a woman”
“So you are straight?” Harris shakes his head “you’re in the closet?”
“No, when I like someone it’s for who they are not what’s between their legs.”
“Good answer.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you Tan but my marriage was part of my old life and I’ve tried to move on from it.”
“I understand.” Changing the conversation “did you get your car back?”
“I did, paid for the tickets too by the way”
“I’m so sorry, I dropped my chapstick and stops signs are surprisingly easy to miss” Tan explains feeling guilty.
Harris laughs “wonder why you failed your driving test.”
“I wanted to surprise you” Tan admits and Harris gets interested “I found the car keys and I went to the lobby to asked Jerry what you liked. I didn’t know what to get so I figured I’d drive around till I found something, but I never thought the keys would be to a Lamborghini or something.”
“It was a Jaguar” Harris corrects him. “But thank you”
“For what? Failing miserably and losing you in the process?”
“Don’t blame yourself, Tan, we both knew this was impossible”
“Worst part of it all was you called me impulsive and I proved you right by getting arrested. You were right Harry I would’ve messed this up so bad”
“That’s not true yes you got arrested but I know you were ready to prove how mature you were going to be about this, we both knew it was wrong and we wanted it anyway.”
Tan moves closer to Harris “I still want it” Tan wasn’t ready to let go of the one good thing in his life. “Give me another chance Harry” Tan whispers moving even closer to him. Stopping at arm’s length Tan waits to see what he does but he does and says nothing. “Sorry I showed up here so late,” Tan says realizing Harris is actually done with him.
Showing himself out Tan walks to the front door but doesn’t make it because he’s pulled away by Harris. Pulling Tan to him Harris throws caution to the wind and gives in to his urges, kissing Tan unexpectedly. Harris holds him tight and it doesn’t take Tan long to kiss Harris back.
Kissing their way all the way to Harris’s room they climb the bed ripping each other’s clothes off.
“Oh fuck Harry” Tan moans eyes shut as Harris slowly fucks him, grinding with every pump Tan holds Harris tight as the moans and gasps escape from his mouth.
Harris and Tan have sex until they pass out in each other’s arms.
The next morning Tan abruptly sits up out of his sleep as Harris gets ready for work, “good morning” Harris turns to him as he buttons his shirt “I was going to wake you up but you looked peaceful.”
“What time is it?” Tan rubs his eyes waking up
“7:15” Harris looks at his watch
“Shit!” Tan jumps out of bed running around looking for his clothes “my parents are probably freaking out.”
Tan quickly gets dress as Harris finishes “I’ll drive you home”
“No that’s fine they’re probably waiting to tear me a new one I can take the train.” They finish and before they walk out of the door Tan turns to Harris “can I see you again?”
“Anytime you want” they smile and kiss each other.
“You’re pushing my fucking buttons, Tanner!” Tan gets yelled at by his mom as soon as he walks in the house “I’m late for work, you’re late for school! What’s your problem?” She follows behind him as he walks to his room
“Sorry I couldn’t sleep so I went for a walk” Tan lies horribly not caring if Shiela believes him or not. “Go to work and I’ll go to school”
“Nope I’m going to sit right out there and wait till you’re done I’m driving you”
“Great” Tan closes his bedroom door in his mother’s face taking off his clothes to go shower.
