I felt incredibly lonely when Lam let me go and went off with Park. I drove home quietly; very consumed by what had happened.
I parked my car, sat in the car for a long while and just drowned out. Finally; I made my way back to my dorm. I was just walking back, my eyes downwards. Just as I reached my door, I bumped into someone. I looked up, apologetic when I realzied it was Lam!
“Lam! What are you doing here?” I stuttered in shock.
“Well I thought I just swing by to make sure you got home safe. How come you are so late? Its not far from here..”
I smiled at his words. I just opened my door and invited him in. “I was just sitting in my car for a while that’s all. Don worry. Sorry, didn’t mean to be late..”
Lam laughed at that! “Don make me sound like your boyfriend please! Why apologise!!”
[Author’s POV: But Lam, you sound like a boyfriend when you ask him stuff like that… ahem…]
I chuckled at how cute he sounded. Lam went to the balcony for a smoke as I prepped some tea for us. I joined him out, nursing my tea as he puffed away.
“Can I tell you something?”
“Sure..”
“I know you must think I am upset or offended over what you said. But I thought I should make it clear, I am not. I think you are allowed to feel how you want to be. So I wanted to say sorry for Park who was just being very protective.”
I looked at Lam who was still smoking away, looking straight ahead. How was this guy so calm and collected and so sensible about it?
I usually thought Engineering guys were often brash. But Lam was displaying a side of him that was out of the normal for these boys. They were fiercely loyal, brash and now I can just add in sensible too.
I just placed my hands gently over Lam, grateful for his words. Lam looked over at my hand on his and looked up at me. I took it away and turned, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks.
For some reason, I felt my heart go boom boom.
