Vic avoided me all day so I couldn’t talk to him about what happened between us. It irritated me so much. At first, I was just confused at how I should feel regarding the kiss, but when I realized he was blatantly ignoring me I became infuriated. After him making a big deal about wanting to start over, he just went right back to ignoring me.

“Why are you guys not stretching?” I complained to my team. “Do I seriously have to babysit you guys? Come on.”

“Woah, Kellin, what’s got you in such a sour mood?” Taylor said. She forced me to sit down in their little circle where they just now began stretching.

“I think you mean, who.” I retorted.

“Okay, then who?” Taylor sassed me.

“Vic,” I said bitterly. “He kissed me yesterday and now he won’t even talk to me. He’s got me pissy.” All the girls around me gasped and pushed me to go into more detail. So much for practicing.

“Do I seriously have to?” I moaned. I didn’t feel like talking about it right now, really, unless it was with Vic.

“Duh! He’s going to be in here and he kissed you! We need to know!” Emma expressed with passion oozing from her tone. They all looked like they wanted to know what happened, anyway, and I doubt they’d drop it if I didn’t so I told them every detail. Even the detail about me maybe, possibly, feeling something for Vic that I hadn’t admitted to myself yet.

Then, he came in the gym. I walked over to him and interrupted their warm-ups to practice and pulled Vic aside.

“What, Kellin?” He sighed. I let go of his arm and looked at him with anger in my eyes.

“Don’t get upset with me. I’m the only one who can be upset right now.”

“And why is that?” He crossed his arms and gave me a playful look. He knew I was mad at him but he took it as a joke which just made me even madder.

“Because you had the brilliant idea to kiss me and then, big surprise, not talk to me. Aren’t you the one that wanted to start over?” I let out. He stood there staring at me with a dumb look and didn’t say a word.

“You’re not even saying anything now. I just don’t know why you to kissed me. I mean, how do you feel after doing it? Was it a mistake?”

“Kellin,”

“How should I feel right now?”

“Kells,”

“All I need are answers and you’re giving me nothing; it’s annoying. Just say something, please.”

“Kellin!”

“What?!” I yelled back at him, making a scene as everyone looked over to us.

Vic promptly swooped down and kissed, regardless of the number of people with their eyes locked on us. But, I didn’t care right now. I got his soft lips back and I loved every second of it.

“Can we talk later?” He asked after pulling apart from me. His hands were on my hips and they stayed there until I answered. It was like my frustration had disappeared within seconds and I was left focusing on the boy in front of me.

“Yes, we can.” I bit my lip.

“Good. Come over at about nine? You can stay if you want.”

“We’ll see.” I walked back over to my squad with a face full of smiles and a mind full of giddiness. Needless to say, I was excited about tonight but I still didn’t like that his solution was to ignore me. It made me feel like I was just another one of his “hook-ups”.

“That went well.” Taylor laughed at me when I got over to everyone. I was beaming despite.

“Ready for practice?” I asked them. They all agreed and we got to work with a new routine. It was hard work, a long practice, and I was beaten by the end of it but I was still really excited about Vic’s.

When I got home, I raced up the stairs to get in the shower and dressed. I got out the shower and dressed with about 10 minutes to spare. I didn’t want to seem too desperate for Vic, though, so I could leave at about five past. In the meantime though, I sat around downstairs and talked with my parents for a bit. I found them on the couch watching whatever show was on.

“You guys off work for the week now?” I asked them. They’d planned to take a vacation, just the two of them, for a week or two.

“Yeah, we leave tomorrow night.” My dad replied. He sighed and loosely wrapped his arm around my mom’s shoulders before she spoke up.

“Where are you off to?”

“Vic’s. His mom said hi, by the way.”

“Tell her I said the same. We’ll have to make a plan for lunch when we get back. I haven’t seen her in a while. Vic has gotten very handsome hasn’t he though? I saw him a couple days ago at the grocery store.” My mother rambled. That’s all she did, really. Though, I did have to agree with her on the latter.

“Yeah, I guess. Well, I’m gonna get going. I don’t know when I’ll be back though so, I love you.” I told them both as I stood up and fixed myself.

“Alright. We love you too, have a good time.” My mother said, giving me a kiss on he cheek as I made my way to the door.

When I got to Vic’s, I knocked on the door and was greeted fairly quickly by him.

“Well, that was fast.” I chuckled to myself. He looked a mess, honestly. Like he was rushing to get dressed but it didn’t work so well in his favor.

“Yeah, well, I was waiting for you.”

“Lucky me, huh?” Vic smiled at me and stood there for a couple minutes before anything happened.

“So, can I come in or would you rather stare at me out here forever.”

“Oh, right!” He exclaimed, coming back to Earth. I laughed and stepped inside, waiting to see where we were going. Vic led me quietly upstairs to his room. It didn’t seem like anyone was here, they must have been out. Most people were, considering it was Friday anyway.

“Where’s your mom? And dad?” I wondered as I plopped down on his bed. He did the same only in his desk chair across from me.

“With family friends at a party.”

“Gasp! Vic Fuentes is missing a party?!”

“Yeah, well, I had more important things, I suppose.” He smiled, turning in his chair. I shrugged and sat crisscrossed on the bed.

“I’m important things?” I asked with surprise written all over my face.

“Yep.” He said, popping the ‘p’ at the end.

“Interesting,” I said, getting quiet and looking at him for a while.

“What?”

“You like me.” I smiled. “Weird way of showing it, though,”

“No, I don’t. I’m just fond of you.” Vic said with furrowed brows. Other than that, his expression stayed the same. He was still listening attentively. “And I said I was sorry for ignoring you. I just didn’t know what to do,”

“So, in other words…”

“Kellin, I do not like you.” He said, getting up from the chair and laying down on the bed, kicking his feet up onto my lap.

“Your feet smell, Fuentes,”

“Listen, Kells. As much as I love listening to you talk and demand things that won’t happen, I’ve got other pressing matters to deal with.” Vic sighed, putting his hands behind his head and looking at me for a bit.

“What other pressing matters? Because I’m pretty sure you said I was more import-” I was cut off by Vic rolling his eyes and crashing his lips to mine, making me fall onto my back and have him situated on top of me.

His lips moved against mine feverishly and I kept up with every bit of it. As always, Vic’s lips were so soft and full that I sank into the kiss and moaned a bit. I let him take control as he slipped his tongue into my mouth and pressed it against mine. There wasn’t any use of trying to talk anymore at this point so I let him kiss me as much as he wanted.

When Vic broke us apart, we were a panting mess but he still had the strength to talk.

“You just talk so much, it’s hard to resist. Especially when you kiss like that.” He mumbled the last bit but I still caught it.

“You’re the one with the amazing lips.” I breathed. Vic was still kind of on top of me as he looked into my eyes and smiled, turning his vision down to my lips and back up again.

“Can I kiss you again?”

“You going to ask me out of a proper date after?”

“We’ll see,” He chuckled at me but I only closed my eyes in response before he kissed me again. It was nothing close to what happened just a few moments ago but it held just as much passion and I could feel all of it until the very end.

We sat there in silence for a bit, us both leaning on the wall, trying to collect our thoughts and breath, I guess. But the same thought screamed at me over and over again: What am I to Vic?

“Well?” I blurted out.

“What?” Vic asked, dumbfounded. I looked at him with dull eyes for a second and skooched up to the edge of the bed.

“Goodbye.” I scoffed. If Vic thought he was just going to be able to kiss or fool around with me for fun then he was in for one giant and rude awakening. I got up to leave but he grabbed my arm before I got any further than the bed.

“Kell, what’s wrong?” He sat me back down and looked at me with concern.

“Vic, I’m not just going to keep kissing you and not knowing where this leaves us. It’s not fair to me or you and it’s bothering me. I don’t want to just be another guy you hook up with.”

“You’re right, Kellin. I’m sorry. I’d like to be more but, I don’t know, it’s complicated.” He explained with a sigh.

“How?” I asked. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped for a second.

“How about we discuss it tomorrow over breakfast?” I looked at him with squinted eyes before giving in.

“Okay, fine.” I gave a light smile and got up to leave only to be stopped, once again.

“Stay for the night? I can give you a t-shirt to sleep in.” Vic pleaded. He looked a bit lost and tired so I agreed. I was tired myself, to be honest, so I grabbed the shirt he gave me and changed in the bathroom.

I got into his bed and turned to my side, facing away from him.

“Goodnight, Vic.”

“Night, Kellin.”
